Artists in double

In the past months, I've noticed in double artists pop up in iTunes, despite the fact, I'm vigilant while ensuring that all artist fields good game - including those on the tab "sort."

Now, he's really got out of control. See below. I've added a few new albums, and he has created a separate artist link for each SONG on the album! I have now more than FIFTY Bryan Ferry tabs duplicate. It's amazing.

All the world has discovered how to solve this problem?

Hello

I had this problem but never with so many additional entries. While tags look identical, there is something, probably an extra space in the name, which prevents the creation of a single artist. The following has worked for me.

Make a non Intelligent selection of all your Bryan Ferry tracks. Select all and info, remove the artist's name and (if necessary) album artist name and then click OK. Now news and enter again the name of artists and the album artist name, check the artist sort values, and then click OK. If all goes well, this will be an artist unique entry.

  • Artists in dual display in my music - view artist

Starting this week, no reason apparent, since I added new videos to tracks/music to my iTunes library, whenever I do (with the exception of two tracks), each was created as an artist in double (see example of Troye Sivan in image - artist on the left column shows two artists of Troye Sivan).

I added a music video (I have two in the library of Troye Sivan artist) and he created a new artist in doubles.

I tried selecting all three tracks (in song) and change them as multiple items so that they are all identical but it don't work (as it normally would). In fact I tried with a track of Duran Duran and not only it worked but it took several other titles of the albums and the displaced to the duplicate artist library!

I added a title of Queen but this has worked well (and I added it in exactly in the same way as other new tracks).

I looked in my files manually in iTunes Mac library and they are all in a single folder in the correct album subfolders. When you look in my music from the Album, they appeared all together - it's only for the artist.

Is anyone else aware of this problem? Does anyone have a solution? This is the result of a recent update (iTunes or IOS) that I don't know?

    Thank you

OK, so after almost pulling my hair, I found a work around for this problem. It seems to work on all the artists duplicate that was created this week in my iTunes library, so I'm confident that it works:

    • Open my music to the song (top right drop-down menu).
    • Sort the columns by the artist (in alphabetical order) by clicking on the artist at the top of the column.
    • Then click on artist overview
    • Select this option for a song of the duplicate artist.
    • Then click on view of song (top right drop-down menu)
    • It should be noted the selected track. Then select ALL who have the same name of artist (above) - this should include your tracks to the artist a copy
    • Can get information on all of the selected items and edit as long as several elements.
    • Change the name of the artist by adding a space and an X
    • Change the artist name of Album calling it the same as the name of the artist (IE. With a space and an X at the end)
    • Click OK
    • Everything should appear in a new single consolidated artist (with space and X at the end of the name).
    • Then click on artist's view (top right drop-down menu)
    • Go to newly named artist and all album titles should be in one place
    • Select all tracks
    • Can get information on all of the selected items and edit as long as several elements.
    • Change the name of the artist back by removing the previously added space and X
    • Change the name of the Album artist back by calling the same name of the artist (ie. withdrawal of the previously added space and X)
    • Click OK
    • The artist seems always to be named with the space and X is included, but if you quit iTunes and reopen it will change the name of the correct artist.

A bit of a long process, but for nerds of OCD like me who like to keep their library in order, it works. Let's hope what has caused this in iTunes is fixed in a new release because it is really annoying.

  • Adding pieces to the problems existing Album

    Hello world

I scan a lot of music files and then import the files into iTunes.  In many cases, I want to add the songs that I've scanned an album in my iTunes library.  Unfortunately, often when I try to add songs to an existing album, iTunes will either create an album in double with exactly the same name as the existing album and put the songs in it, or, worse yet, create an artist in double with the same name as the existing artist and put songs in an album for this artist.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution to this problem?

    Thank you.

Setting generally a title of the Album and Album artist common will fix things.

For issues more profound see grouping of tracks in albums, see especially tried it STILL has too many blankets!

  • Duplicate the artist that don't WILL NOT disappear please help!

Everything is identical on both sides, news-wise, I went through all the fields all fields sort everything.

I even tried to change the name of the artist to something different, then change back, nothing has changed.

The only difference that I could find is now in the general tab to get information from the artists themselves:

The left is as "should be", because all the other artists who do not have duplicates have this info.

While the right, which I think is 'the double', has in this field which does not reflect the artist.

But I continue to change, and it goes back to joint... by himself! What on earth I'm doing wrong?

What is the problem? How do I actually CHANGE? Thank you!

    Hello applewarm,

I see in your post that you have an artist showing twice in iTunes, and you want to have all of this artist put together. I like to keep things neat and organized myself, so I can understand why you want to get this sorted out.

As a first step, try to edit the field artist album "Hardcore Superstar" for both groups and see if it unifies the artist. If this isn't the case, I recommend to check this article to see if there are measures that you have not tried here:

  • 12.4.2.4 iTunes messes up Album and artists views

Since I installed version12.4.2.4, iTunes seems to mess up the metadata of my music files and/or albums not correctly appear in the views of artist and Album. In the last 24 hours I have torn/imported 2 albums.

The first album I tore guard split into 2 artists, both with exactly the same name than the other artist. Other tracks on the album are about an artist, and the rest of the tracks are on the other artist. To the track, I see that the tracks belong to an album, but for the Album I see 2 albums and to the artist, I see 2 artists.

The second album I ripped gets combined with another album - already - in the Album an artists views. Still, in the view of the track I can see the newly imported album clearly as a separate album, but two Album reviews and artist, I see it combined with another album as an album.

I checked so to double all the metadata for these tracks and that everything seems OK. How can I stop this wrong behavior?

You need to 'force' iTunes to re - write metadata.

Follow these instructions. Method #2 is probably the one you need.

Fix split Album or artist listings in iTunes

  • iTunes problem, some artists are sort separately

So I have been rebuilding my music library, (got a new computer and all my music is lost on the former) so I imported all my CDs. Some of the music is sorted funky. When I sort by albums, it's all good, but when I sort by artist some artists are all split!

For example, on the left side where it lists all the artists, I like 6 Micheal Jacksons! Some are same album but divided into two or three artists!

Now, I checked and double-checked and rechecked than all the info from the album is the same thing... that's a promise. The thing that continues to be I click on 'get info' then click on the "Sort" tab and I see that is where are some differences, but in space ' sort as "letters are gray and when I try to enter something different it activates automatically the return!

I don't know what I'm doing wrong here.

It should also note that I have tuneup and I don't know if it's the cause of all my problems.

    Help, please

If iTunes displays multiple instances of an artist or an album then generally what works is to select all the associated tracks and use read the information to add say an end X for each of the areas of the slopes have in common:

    • For an album. Album, Album artist, and artist (if the artist is the same for all tracks) *
    • For an artist; Album artist (and the artist unless there are comments/featured artists listed which should not be changed)

Apply the change which merges things together, then remove the excess characters. Occasionally, it can help to close and reopen iTunes between two renaming operations.

    * If the titles must be synchronized to a non - iOS device, there should be a common artist or the album must be defined as a Compilation.

Use the view of songs and display fields, Album, genre, Album, Album artist, genre artist Album, artist and genre artist side by side to see you whether or not it is necessary to change the artist and if sorting values could be the cause of additional problems. See grouping in albums, titles for help if necessary.

  • The music does not list CD imported under artists on my iPhone

I lost so much time just trying to get my existing iTunes visible/playable music.  I have imported CDs into iTunes, sync my iPhone and iPad but they do not appear in the recently added and do not appear in the title of the artist. For example the Glynne Jess, I cry when I laugh album has any, but in the artist list under Glynne Jess I can only see and play one (Hold My Hand) previously downloaded from iTunes.  When the album of newly added disappearx, so I am unable to play because he is not visible anywhere else.  Also when I sync, iTunes says it copied album art, but it didn't.  I don't see the icon of music note double for each album rather than the correct images. The online guide to music gives detailed instructions on the use of music on devices to play existing tracks to iTunes. It focuses just on joining Apple music and how to use it, I don't want to do. I want to just keep using iTunes the way I always have.

I tried to put this issue on the world of music, but when I clicked on the Post, I get the error:

  • 12 iTunes keeps having the same artist twice in the artist column

ITunes so now on the left side where they have the names of artists among the artists appear twice with some of the songs out there in one of there tabs and other tab another someone has any kind of idea to solve this? p.s. I checked also double to see if they have the same name in the artist of the album.

Using the view songs grab all the tracks by an artist of the album given that you are having problems with and then read the information. Tab sort add set Album artist & artist album, X, click OK, and then return to . If you synchronize your content on a non - iOS such as classical iPod device, then you must also make sure artist is constant in the whole album. I propose generally invited and artists featured in the names of individual songs.

  • ITunes artists is growing-different albums/songs

Hi everyone (: Ive been having this problem for a while now.) I'm using the 12.3.2.35 version of iTunes. I have two pictures so that you can see my problem.                  As you can see, along the coast, there are 3 Alldays, which are the same person.  I tried different ways to try to solve this problem. I selected all the songs and made sure he said allday. I'm not very good at explaining things, but you can see Cleary on the image there, a few artists who have doubled. But in each of them, they have different songs or albums in them.

It is also double large ariana, double drake and double fozzey and van.

I wish that they all in a single artist. Please help me with this. Thanks heaps ():

    Enter all the tracks daily.

Use Get Info to change the artist artist & Album at AlldayX.

    Close iTunes.

    Open again.

Enter all the tracks by AlldayX.

Replace the artist & Album artist Allday.

Repeat for other artists in such cases.

  • Duplicate artists: iTunes 10 Win

    Here is my configuration:

In the opinion of the artist I got artists double, here is an example:

If I click on "Get Info" on the first album of 4 songs I see the following:

    + the sort tab

If I click on 'Get Info' on the second album of 4 songs I see the following:

    + the sort tab

The problem is that in older versions of iTunes application put the albums under the name of the artist even if the Album artist was the same, with the last version he does this from time to time, and I can't understand where is the problem here. I have read several subject on the same question and tried the following:

    1. in the display songs selected all tracks of this album (I Am OK (Remixed)) which should be under Oliver Koletzki as artist of the Album, made sure the spelling is the same, renowned artist of the Album to Oliver Koletzki1 and renamed then back to Oliver Koletzki - this did not help, the titles remain under different Oliver Koletzki

    2. on the sorting tab, I tried to change mixed to Oliver Koletzki in sorting section of artist Album - the application I cannot do

    Partial solution:

    1. in the songs view select all tracks that should be under Oliver Koletzki as Album artist (means chosen the tracks of several albums), rename Album Artis of Oliver Koletzki to Oliver Koletzki1 and then rename it to Oliver Koletzki - this allows several albums under Oliver Koletzki, but still 1 album remains under Oliver Koletzki duplicated entry

This is a topic where the problem has been resolved by renaming the feat of the comments and then song name change the artist:

Artists duplicate. How to combine them together?

This isn't a good solution, because I get to spend days rename tracks in my library (> 60 000 titles), not to mention the Album artist group worked before very well.

Everyone knows the same frustration with the latest version of iTunes under Win 10? Any help is appreciated. Maybe I can replace iTunes with another application that is capable of properly managing libraries?

Suspicion of images 5 and 7 for solve the problem where they show mixed for the Album artist kind. The artist Album and artist of the Album fate should be consistent on all tracks by Oliver Koletzki. Select all the artist's Flickr photos and change the Album and Album artist sort of Oliver KoletzkiX , then reset to Oliver Koletzki. In some cases, it can help to close iTunes and then reopen between two name changes.

Manipulate the name of the song and the artist for consistency may be necessary if the tracks are going on an iPod classic or other model non - iOS which does not have Album artist.

  • How can I download illustrate artists albums

Would like to download (cover) illustrations of albums, but I can't remember how to...

    If someone help me...

    Thank you

    J.

My French is pretty bad (the is not used since our 25 anniversary trip in Paris), but it depends on what pictures you're trying to change.

    (1) If you want to say that the work that music Apple and iTunes displays when you look at the list of artists - you cannot select what is displayed. iTunes and Apple music kind of selects him. Based in part on the last album that you added by this artist, but not always.

    (2) If you mean the ALBUM art, is the question that Apple music displays the bad work? Probably means that at least one of the tracks was wrong with Apple music. You can download a different version of the work of Google (this is what I do) and then change album by double-clicking on the album art and if you select Get Info. Go to the tab of the work, and then drag the photo you want to use. BTW - the downloaded version must be in JPEG format for iTunes to recognize it as an image file.

  • Windows media player is the addition of my music, but not covered by the correct artist. How can I fix

There are also multiple registrations for the same songs, how can I fix?

What type of file in your music files (MP3, WMA, WAV...)?

You can correct information (for example, artist) in the library by double-clicking the info and selecting Edit.

Regarding duplicates, in WMP, please enable the column path, right click on a column heading (for example, title) and select choose columns.

So now you take two duplicate songs and compare their paths in the path column, are the same or different paths? If they are different, what are the exact paths?

  • iTunes will not regroup under the name of artist albums

I noticed at the bar on the left with the artists, sometimes there are twice, the same artist, with each having only some of the albums and I can't group all albums under the name of an artist to the bar.for some artists can't do, but I did it because some others.anyone know what to do?

If you see unexpected songs groups when you browse an album - https://support.apple.com/HT204538 - 'songs from the same album may not be grouped as expected when you view them in display Albums in iTunes."

For most people this solution seems to be one that works: August 2008 post by turingtest2 temporarily change labels - https://discussions.apple.com/message/7904806#7904806 or http://www.samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/merge.asp - add a letter at the end of the name of the artist, close the read information, then open it again and remove the letter. This works often but I had cases where securities combined when a letter has been added but divorced when he was kidnapped again.

The following sections provide additional solutions:

Often a solution: select all the tracks on the album, file > info (or right-click > news > Details) and give them all a single "album artist", or check the indicator of "compilation" (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085#17670085).

Steve MacGuire alias turingtest2 - iTunes and iPod tips and tricks - grouping beaches in Albums - http://www.samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp (old post on Apple Discussions http://discussions.apple.com/message/9910895#9910895)

If they are several CD sets, you will also need to enter the appropriate information in the fields of number of disk.  If they are not a set of multiple CDs that you must always make sure any vacuum or disc number fields are properly defined.

    Another explanation of hhgttg27 August 2015 - https://discussions.apple.com/message/27784417#27784417

If they are mp3 files are trying to change the version of the ID3 tag, which can cause iTunes to re - write the tags and clarify inconsistencies.  I use iTunes 7.5 (Yes, from 2007) so I can't tell you where it is in later versions.

I had a case of grouping stubborn reality.  The tracks will be re-group in a way that has no meaning when I changed metadata.  Without going into details, I deleted tracks iTunes completely, then add the files and they are all grouped together correctly.

  • Change order number/special character artists

I would like to know if there is a way to change the order of all the artists that begin with a number or a special character order. Currently, they are all sitting at the bottom of the list of the artist on the ipod (and iTunes) but I would like to have all displays at the top of this list.

This is the sort order...  I think you would need to change the names of the artists so that they start with something that gets sorted at the top of the list in alphanumeric order.  For example, replace 10,000 Maniacs a_10, 000 Maniacs.
