ASA to 1841 VPN Tunnel

Hello

I am trying to establish a VPN tunnel from site to site between 2 offices. An agency has a Cisco 1841 and the other a pair of ASA 5510. I get the tunnel to establish without problem. The problem is that traffic will the intended to the ASA 1841 will not encrypt to this particular tunnel. I get decaps on the session, but no program. I've reconfigured the tunnel several times but keep getting the same result:

Your ACL 100 is not exempt traffic 192.168.5.0-> 10.0.96.0 of the NAT process.  Please add the line below above the permit statement and test again.

    Good news, that VPN has been implemented!

    According to the ping problem, my suggestion is to check, if some type of firewall based on host computers on both sides block ICMP requests.

    Anyway, you can still use the capture of packets on the inside of the interfaces of the two ASAs, to check if the ICMP traffic is to reach the ASA.

    In addition, you can try to enable ICMP inspection:

  • ASA base S2S VPN, Tunnel establishes only when interesting traffic hits to end distance

    Dear all,

    I need your help to solve the problem mentioned below.

    VPN tunnel established between the unit two ASA.   A DEVICE and device B

    (1) if interesting traffic initiates a LAN device. traffic ACL hits. TUNEL is not coming

    (2) if interesting traffic initiates B LAN device. Tunnel will establish all the works of serivces

    (3) after the Tunnel device establishmnet B. We forced to tunnel down at both ends. Interesting again traffic initiates device a surpringly tunnel

    will go up.   After 2 or 3 days (after life expire 86400 seconds) initiated traffic of device A, tunnel will not esatblish.

    (it comes to rescue link: interesting won't be there all the time.)

    checked all parametrs, everthing seems fine. Here are the logs of attached but not more informative debugging on the balls. Please suggest.

    Your crypto acl must be exact mirror of the other.

    If your router acl is

    then your ASA acl should be

    Just give it a shot and see if it helps.

  • ASA Cisco IPSEC VPN tunnel has not managed the traffic

    Hi guys

    I am trying to set up a new connection IPSEC VPN between a Cisco ASA 5520 (verion 8.4 (4)) and Checkpoint Firewall. I managed to establish the phases IKE and IPSEC and I can see the tunnel is UP. But I can't see any traffic through the tunnel. I checked the cryptomap both ends and try to test with a contionuous ping from within the network of the SAA.

    I made a screenshot of ICMP packets but cannot see in ASA. I welcomed the icmp inside ASA interface.

    I did a package tracer and it ends with a fall of vpn - filter the packets. But can not see any configured filters...

  • ASA L2L filter-VPN Tunnels

    I need help to understand how the vpn-filter command is applied to the traffic tunnel.  Until very recently, I was under the command of printing the vpn-filter (applied in Group Policy) provided an access control incoming (outside to inside) for VPN traffic after decryption.  Recently I change any of my VPN connections (add a phase access list entry 2) which causes questioning me how the vpn-filter.

    Example-

    original vpn connection - my side hosted the server and the clients were on the other side.  My vpn-filter rule has allowed customers to come to my server.

    more - (above the original setting still in place) - the other side is now hosting a server and on my side has clients.

    Without any changes to vpn-filter, I have lived: phase 2 built tunnel but no packet encryption or decryption and no error in syslog.

    Using packet - trace, I discovered a list of access (vpn-user subtype) blocked access.  "vpn-user" must be a Cisco term because it is not in my config.  I added an entry to my vpn-filter acl allowing their server to talk to my clients.  Adding to the vpn-filter enabled that the tunnel started working.

    I would have thought

    vpn-filter acl was dynamic and not required an entry

    or

    the without the vpn-filter acl, the phase would have shown his encryption/decryption and perhaps an acl deny message in the system log.  Basically, the traffic is encrypted, returns server, decrypted and then dropped access policy.

    Have a further explanation or documentation?

    The problem is that the ACL applied through the vpn-filter is not dynamic.

    A vpn-filter command applies to traffic after decrypted once it comes out a tunnel and the previously encrypted traffic before entering a tunnel. An ACL that is used for a vpn-filter should NOT also be used to access interface group. When a vpn-filter command is applied to a group policy which governs customer connections access remote VPN, the ACL must be configured with the assigned client IP addresses in the position of src_ip of the ACL and the LAN in the position of dest_ip of the ACL.

    When a vpn-filter command is applied to a political group that governs a connection VPN from LAN to LAN, the ACL must be configured with the remote network in the position of src_ip of the ACL and the LAN in the position of dest_ip of the ACL.

    Caution when the construction of the ACL for use with the vpn-filter feature. The ACL are built with traffic after decrypted in mind. However, ACL also apply to the oncoming traffic. For this previously encrypted traffic that is intended for the tunnel, the ACL are built with exchanged src_ip and dest_ip positions.

  • Transfer between Cisco ASA VPN Tunnels

    Hi Experts,

    I have a situation where I need to set up the transfer between two VPN Tunnels completed in the same box ASA. A VPN Tunnel will incoming traffic and that traffic should be sent to the bottom of the other VPN Tunnel to the ASA. The two VPN Tunnels are from the Internet and speak with the same IP address of the ASA peers.

    Local counterpart: 170.252.100.20 (ASA in question)

    Can this be achieved? what configurations are needed in the ASA apart cryptographic ACL entries?

    Believed that, in this case your config is good, and you can avoid using routes on your asa since it must route based on its default gateway, make sure you have good sheep in place rules and the inter-to interface same-security-interface allowed return you will need.

  • ASA Syslog via a VPN Tunnel

    Hi all

    I have a little problem concerning ASA and syslogs. I have a tunnel from site to site between a local ASA and ASA distance. Behind the ASA local, I have a central syslog server (which has no ASA as default gateway) which collects messages from all network devices and I want to get messages from the ASA remote as well.

    The tunnel protects traffic between local networks behind each ASA, which includes ASA inside remote interface as well. The problem is that if I specify on the SAA distance my syslog server it does not pass through the VPN tunnel. The ASA remote sees my server syslog as being 'outside' so he's using the external IP address as the source-interface for the syslog message. Which of course does not pass through the tunnel. As much as I know there is no way to configure the interface source for logging under the SAA, that you can do on a normal IOS router.

    I've found a few documents explaining this Setup on CCO, but they all imply I have extend the list for interesting traffic to access allow remote UDP/514 of the PIX traffic outside my local syslog server interface. This isn't something I want to do what I would get in routing complication in my LAN with a public IP address of the ASA remote.

    Any suggestions? I thought I could use some sort of NAT on the ASA remote so that all traffic for my local network a source the remote PIX is translated on the inside interface, which in theory should pass the package via the tunnel. I did not go so far.

    Any help is appreciated.

    You can define the interface that the ASA will use to send the newspapers "syslog_ip host record.

    Make sure you also do "access management".

    Then the SAA should source the syslogs from inside the interface, which is probably encrypted with the crypto ACL.

  • NAT, ASA, 2 neworks and a VPN tunnel

    Hello. I have a following question. I am trying to establish a VPN tunnel to a remote network used to be connected to our via a VPN tunnel. The problem is that the previous tunnel their share has been created for the x.x.x.x our coast network which will serve no more time a month, but is currently still active and used. As I'm trying to get this VPN tunnel as soon as possible without going through all the paperwork on the other side (political, don't ask) is it possible to make NAT of the new network in the network x.x.x.x for traffic through the VPN tunnel.

    Something like this:

    new network-> policy NAT in old x.x.x.x fork on ASA-> VPN tunnel to the remote network using x.x.x.x addresses

    It is possible to add the new policy, but sometimes it can conflict with the former.

  • 2 VPN tunnels on ASA common; A PRI a BKP at the same address-end peer

    Hi all

    I have an ASA 5505 branch that has 2 circuits ISP.  I have a data center ASA who has 1 ISP circuit. I have a VPN tunnel between the primary circuit ASA branch and the ASA circuit data center.  I would like to implement the ASA branch for the redundancy of the SLA so I can use primary and backup circuits, but two configs tunnel going to the same address-end peer, since the data center has only 1 ASA. I read that an ASA cannot have several tunnels to the same peer address because the ASA may have 1 SA by peer address.

    However, if I have my branch ASA configured for redundancy of the SLA, then only 1 tunnel would at once, which I think would affect the requirement of SA above.

    Can someone tell me if this is possible?

    You're right about things als because only link will be active at a time.

    On the ASA branch, you can apply the same encryption card to two primary and secondary circuit. You use just ALS to determine how this ASA branch will reach the address of peer card crypto (IP addr of ASA Data Center).

  • VPN Tunnel access to several subnets ASA 5505

    Greetings,

    We spent a little time trying to configure our ASA 5505 in order to TUNNEL into several different subnets.  Subnets include 192.168.1.0 / 192.168.2.0 / 192.168.10.0

    Someone is about to review this setup running and indicate where we have gone wrong.   When I connect via the VPN Client, I can access the 192.168.1.0 network, no problem.  But fail to reach the other two.   Thank you very much.

    I see two problems:

    1. your ASA has not an interior road to the Incas inside networks. You must add:

    Route inside 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0

    Route inside 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0

    .. .specifying your gateway address of these networks.

    2. the statement "access-list standard vpn_splitTunnelAcl permit 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0" sends only a route for 192.168.1.0/24 to your customer. You need to add entries for the other two networks.

  • Unable to pass traffic between ASA Site to Site VPN Tunnel

    Hello

    I have problems passing traffic between two ASA firewall. The VPN tunnel is up with a dynamic IP and static IP address. I have attached a diagram of the VPN connection. I'm not sure where the problem lies and what to check next. I think I have all the roads and in the access lists are needed.

    I've also attached the ASA5505 config and the ASA5510.

    This is the first time that I've set up a VPN connection any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Regarding your opinion of configuration Remote Site ASA that you have not added the internal networks of the Central Site VPN L2L configurations at all so the traffic does not pass through the VPN.

    Take a look at ACL configurations above. The 'exempt' ACL is used in configurations NAT0 and tells the ASA what traffic of exempting from NAT. "outside_1_cryptomap" ACL is used to tell the traffic between the subnets should be using the L2L VPN connection.

    So in short on the Remote Site ASA these ACLs should be identical. Make additions to the LIST of VPN L2L, then try again.

    I would also like to point out that to ensure that the Central ASAs L2L VPN ACL Site contains the same networks. The ACL on the Central Site will, of course, its internal subnets as the source and the site LAN remote destination.

  • Help with a VPN tunnel between ASA 5510 and Juniper SSG20

    We have a customer wanting to configure a VPN Site to Site tunnel between a new purchased 5510 of ASA located in his direction with its Juniper SSG20 Office, located in the main office. We contacted HP and they send us a Cisco professional to do the job.

    After 2 days from 16:00 to 22:00 and error and countless hours of research online and nunerous calls, we are still unable to get traffic from the network of agencies to enter the tunnel.

    According to Cisco professionals, the tunnel is now in place but no traffic through. We are unable to ping anything on the network on the other side (192.168.1.0/24). We receive timeout ping all the time. The Cisco professional told us it's a routing or NAT problem and he's working on a solution!

    Through research, I came across a post on Experts-Exchange (here) [the 1st comment on the original post] which States "...". that both sides of the VPN must have a different class of LAN for the VPN to work... " Would that be our problem?

    It has become a critical issue to the point that he had to replace the Cisco ASA with a temporary Juniper SSG5 on another subnet (192.168.7.0/24) to get the tunnel upward and through traffic until the ASA VPN issue is resolved and I didn't need to say that the client is killing us!

You can certainly change it by default to 28800 seconds without configuring kilobytes. SA life is negotiated between the ASA and Juniper, and whatever is the lowest value will be used.

    This State is reached when the policies of the phase 1 do not correspond to the two ends.

    Please confirm that you have the same settings of phase 1 on both sides with the following commands:

    See the isakmp crypto race

    See the race ikev1 crypto

    Also make sure that port UDP 500 and 4500 are open for communication between your device and the remote peer.

    Finally, make sure you have a route suitable for the remote VPN endpoint device.

    I understand that you ask if you can establish a VPN site to site between an ASA 5505 and Linksys WRT54GL. Unfortunately, the WRT54GL doesn't support VPN endpoint. If you don't want to spend money on another ASA 5505 (which I recommend), you can watch the line Cisco Small Business firewall-lights/roads, like the RV320.
