Good news, that VPN has been implemented!
According to the ping problem, my suggestion is to check, if some type of firewall based on host computers on both sides block ICMP requests.
Anyway, you can still use the capture of packets on the inside of the interfaces of the two ASAs, to check if the ICMP traffic is to reach the ASA.
In addition, you can try to enable ICMP inspection:
Policy-map global_policy
class inspection_default
inspect the icmp
inspect the icmp error

ASA Cisco IPSEC VPN tunnel has not managed the traffic
Hi guys
I am trying to set up a new connection IPSEC VPN between a Cisco ASA 5520 (verion 8.4 (4)) and Checkpoint Firewall. I managed to establish the phases IKE and IPSEC and I can see the tunnel is UP. But I can't see any traffic through the tunnel. I checked the cryptomap both ends and try to test with a contionuous ping from within the network of the SAA.
I made a screenshot of ICMP packets but cannot see in ASA. I welcomed the icmp inside ASA interface.
I did a package tracer and it ends with a fall of vpn - filter the packets. But can not see any configured filters...
Your help is very appreciated...
Thank you

Cisco ASA 5510, ipsec vpn. What address to connect the client to
Hello
It's maybe a stupid question, but I can't find the answer anywhere.
I used the ipsec vpn configuration wizard, I activated the external interface to access ipsec and went through SCW pools of addresses etc. When I try to connect with the cisco vpn client to my address of the external interface (of a remote host) I'm unable to connect. I scanned the interface for open ports, but there is not, I have to allow traffic to ipsec at this interface?
Best regards
Andreas
No, once you have configured the access remote vpn ipsec, it will be automatically activated, and you should be able to connect to the ASA outside the ip address of the interface.
Can you please share the configuration? and also which group name you are trying to access the vpn client?

Routing access to Internet through an IPSec VPN Tunnel
Hello
I installed a VPN IPSec tunnel for a friend's business. At his desk at home, I installed a Cisco SA520 and at it is remote from the site I have a Cisco RVS4000. The IPSec VPN tunnel works very well. The remote site, it can hit all of its workstations and peripheral. I configured the RVS4000 working in router mode as opposed to the bridge. In the Home Office subnet is 192.168.1.0/24 while the subnet to the remote site is 192.168.2.0/24. The SA520 is configured as Internet gateway for the headquarters to 192.168.1.1. The remote desktop has a gateway 192.168.2.1.
I need to configure the remote site so that all Internet traffic will be routed via the Home Office. I have to make sure that whatever it is plugged into the Ethernet on the RVS4000 port will have its Internet traffic routed through the Internet connection on the SA520. Currently I can ping any device on the headquarters of the remote desktop, but I can't ping anything beyond the gateway (192.168.1.1) in the Home Office.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Hi William, the rvs4000 does not support the tunnel or esp transfer wild-card.

Hello
I am trying to configure an IPSec VPN tunnel between my company and a remote company for the use of FTP secure.
I used the SDM to configure the tunnel on my router based on the information provided by the society that we are trying to connect to. The other company has provided my debug log when I was testing the connection, but I do not know how to read and what could be the problem. I hope someone here can give me an overview of what prevents the tunnel connection.
Please let me know if you need more information.
Thank you
Peter Haase
Peter,
Good job!
Because the tunnel is up, we must not debugs.
I'm glad that finally it works.

Cisco ASA - l2l IPSEC tunnel two dynamic hosts
Hello
I have two firewall Cisco ASA an i want to made a l2l between two ipsec tunnel, the problem is that both parties have a dynamic IP, on both sides I have configured dyndns, can I did an ipsec tunnel using dyndns name such as address peer?
Hello
ASA supports only the RFC compliant method for updates used with dynamic DNS, not updates HTTP, such as dyndns.org and others use.
i.e. https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCsk25102/?reffering_site=dumpcrOn ASA, it is not possible to configure the tunnel between two dynamic peers.
You will need to have a static end to configure static to dynamic IP.For routers, you can follow this link.
I hope this helps.Kind regards

Install two the separate IPSec VPNS on ASA 5505
Hello
I'll have set up a second tunnel IPSec VPN on my Cisco ASA 5505 to another office. I was able to configure one without problem through the ASDM, but were not able to get the second.
The IPSec tunnel connects to a WRVS4400N router to the other office. I tried the debug crypto isakmp and ipsec crypto, but I get nothing. Here is the config. Something seems wrong on my end? I've also attached a screenshot of the configuration settings on the remote router.
Output of the command: "show run".

VPN Cisco ASA Cisco ASA firewall via DHCP.
Hi all!
Small question. I have an ASA5520 (8.2) acting as a VPN server with the correct configuration to request a DHCP on behalf of the VPN Client address. However, this ASAVPN is connected to a vpn - dmz on my other ASA5520 (8.0) is our main firewall. I can see future demand across the demilitarized zone and the ASAFIREWALL interface inside and outside. The DHCP server responds and refers to the x.x.x.0. I had not initially installing dhcp on the ASAFIREWALL relay as I had open 67 upd, thinking it would allow just back through with number. No idea how to get this working correctly?
Thank you

How to move the ASA of IPSEC VPN via UDP to TCP
I have a client who has a remote desktop with 2 PCs than VPN in to their location of HQ. Previously, two computers where in different places now that they are in the same place. Both PC's are able to successfully establish a VPN connection to the CA by using the Version of the Client VPN Cisco 5.0.07.0290, but only 1 system actually passes the traffic and is able to access the resources at Headquarters.
I asked another engineer, and they said ' you must configure IPSEC over TCP or use Anyconnect to have multiple clients behind the same PAT' public ed remote ip address... ". ». I would go with IPSEC for TCP connection, so I won't have to uninstall the old client and go through the process of installing the AnyConnect client. Here is the configuration of the ASA 5505 thanks in advance for any help.

Hello
You can try adding
Crypto isakmp nat-traversal 30
And test connections
I think that you need to add to use the TCP protocol
Crypto isakmp ipsec-over-tcp 10000
You will also need to change the Transparent tunnel setting on the profile of Client VPN software to use TCP instead of option of NAT/PAT.

ASA 5505 IPSEC VPN connected but cannot access the local network
ASA: 8.2.5
ASDM: 6.4.5
LAN: 10.1.0.0/22
Pool VPN: 172.16.10.0/24
Hi, we purcahsed a new ASA 5505 and try to configure IPSEC VPN via ASDM; I simply run the wizards, installation vpnpool, split tunnelling, etc.
I can connect to the ASA using the cisco VPN client and internet works fine on the local PC, but it can not access the local network (can not impossible. ping remote desktop). I tried the same thing on our Production ASA(those have both Remote VPN and Site-to-site VPN working), the new profile, I created worked very well.
Here is my setup, wrong set up anything?

Captures we can see packets going from the pool to the internal LAN, but we do not reply back packages.
The routing must be such that for 172.16.10.0/24 packages should reach the inside interface of the ASA.
On client machines or your internal LAN switch, you need to add route for 172.16.10.0/24 pointing to the inside interface of the ASA.

Cisco ASA and dynamic VPN L2L Fortigate configuration
I met a problem recently with an ASA 5510 (7.0) and a bunch of Fortigate 50 (3.0 MR7). The ASA is the hub and Fortigates are rays with a dynamic public IP.
I followed this document on the site Web of Cisco (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00805733df.shtml) to set up my ASA and the parameters passed to my counterparts to set up their Fortigates.
However, the ASA journal reveals that attemtps Fortigate connection always tried with DefaultRAGroup before falling back to DefaultL2LGroup and finally died. Experience with putting in place a dynamic VPN between Cisco and Fortigate someone? Which could not fail at each end? Here's a typical piece of error log ASA. The ASA is currently having a static VPN tunnel and a site-2-client VPN in two groups by default.

then back to the DefaultL2LGroup, because he doesn't know if the VPN Client or L2L again when he is contacted fist as they are connecting from dynamic IP peer.
You must ensure that your L2L tunnel-group by default has been configured with the corresponding pre-shared key.
Assuming that you have configured the dynamic map and assign to the card encryption.
Here is an example of configuration where ASA has a static and peripheral ip address pair has dynamic IP:
Hope that helps.

ASA 5505 ipsec vpn connection fails
Hello
I'm trying to configure a Cisco ASA 5505 for Remote Clients.
I use the ASDM interface and used assistants start and ipsec for my setup, but im hit a stumbling block.
To last make it work 2 days I have tried a number of configuration changes to try to make this work but didn't, so I did a factory reset and passed by the assistants, once again, I have a clean Setup that I hope someone can help me.
Currently I have an IP public static 81.137.x.x and I use a Netgear ADSL router, which transfers (UDP 500) VPN traffic to 192.168.171.35 (port wan on the ASA 5505).
The Cisco ASA has a default address of 192.168.1.1
I use the Cisco Client 5.0.06.0160.
I have configured the client to use authentication group with the same credentials as configuration through the wizard and im using Transparent Tunneling IPSec over UDP.
I have attached 2 documents
running_config.txt - what is shows the current configuration of ASA
Journal - View.txt - display of error messages displayed in the real-time log viewer when I try to connect from the remote client.
I'm not sure if I need to do on the other that additional configurations for my setup simply run the wizards.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Hello Philippe,
According to the lines in the journal, there is a problem of routing for ip vpn applicant address. ASA couldn't find the definition of route suitable for the return traffic. Add a default route to unknown destinations could solve this problem. As I see you are using modem netgear as a default gateway for your ASA. I write example of command line for this purpose.
Route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 NetGear_LAN_IP_Address 1

Hi guys
There are IPsec deadline for ASA 5510?
There are users complain on connected, they cannot access any server on the local network. but now it works fine
Hello
What do you mean by limit? The number of IPSEC sessions is limited to 250, if I remember correctly.
To limit access to internal resources, there is not.
These users complain using the same IPSEC vpn as others? Is that your exemption of crypto and nat that allows all internal resources?
Thank you

Hello
I am trying to establish a VPN tunnel from site to site between 2 offices. An agency has a Cisco 1841 and the other a pair of ASA 5510. I get the tunnel to establish without problem. The problem is that traffic will the intended to the ASA 1841 will not encrypt to this particular tunnel. I get decaps on the session, but no program. I've reconfigured the tunnel several times but keep getting the same result:

Your ACL 100 is not exempt traffic 192.168.5.0-> 10.0.96.0 of the NAT process. Please add the line below above the permit statement and test again.
access-list 100 deny ip 192.168.5.0 0.0.0.255 10.0.96.0 0.0.15.255

Cisco ASA cannot create several tunnels at the same address in hand?
We have several remote sites with Linksys WRVS4400N and Smoothwall firewall/vpn devices. I need these sites to be able to connect to several tell-contiguous subnets to our main office. This was done easily with smoothwall and linksys. You create a separate tunnel for each subnet, and voila, you're done. However, when I tried this with our ASA newly installed, it won't let me create several tunnels at the same address of the remote peer. It is a problem because these sites have only a single IP address public static. Did I miss something or ASA not allow connections to and from multiple subnets form a site with a unique address peer?
Resembles the limitation on the WRVS4400N as Cisco ASA supports several subnets by tunnel.
Is there anyway that you can configure a subnet more instead of specific subnets on the ACL?
For example:
If you 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24, instead of having 2 subnets configured, you can combine them into 1 subnet 192.168.0.0/23
