Hello

Please help me, how to retrieve the bitlocker recovery key manually my PC ask before upgradation window10 because I forgot to unlock my D encrypted drive unlocked and my bitlocker keyID is 4<****************>6.

Thank you

Hi yogesh,

I understand that you would like to know how to retrieve the BitLocker recovery key manually and I'll be happy to answer your query.

(Repair-bde) BitLocker Repair tool is a command-line tool included with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. This tool can be used to access the encrypted data on a severely damaged hard drive if the drive has been encrypted by using BitLocker Drive encryption. Repair-bde can reconstruct critical parts of the drive and recover recoverable data until a password is invalid or the recovery key is used to decrypt the data. The Repair-bde command-line tool is intended to be used when the operating system does not start, or when you cannot start the BitLocker Recovery Console. If a drive is physically damaged, it may not be recoverable.

I would ask you to see the suggestions in the article below and check the status.

  • What is the correct recovery process once upgraded to Windows 10? (No OneKey Recovery)

I have a cell phone Z50-70 which is preinstalled with Windows 8.1. It is an OEM version, with the product key that is stored in the Bios. This is an installation of UEFI.

The vehicle currently has OneKey recovery installed, which, if I understand well (I've not used actually still), allows you to recover from a hard disk recovery partition. This is not a "fresh" Windows 8.1, but an image provided by Lenovo that take back you to the State the laptop was bought originally (will have all software Lenovo and preinstalled drivers).

According to the official upgrade guide Lenovo, before performing the upgrade of Windows 10, we should uninstall basically all software from Lenovo, including OneKey recovery and it won't work in Windows 10.

    Issues related to the:

    1. What is the correct process to recover the system from Windows 10 if something goes wrong? I think that Windows 10 integrates a feature "Reboot your computer" in the settings which I suppose is what we are supposed to use. It would take me to:

    a. a completely new install Windows 10?

    b. a created image during the upgrade from 8.1 to 10, containing all my files etc. when performing the upgrade?

    c. or he would use the recovery partition from Lenovo (which would have used OneKey Recovery if it was compatible) and take me back to 8.1 for Windows?

    (d) another thing?

    2. once I did the upgrade and Windows 10 has successfully activated, I think I could create a bootable with ISO of Windows 10, inside boot media and install a completely new install of Windows 10 and activate it. Theoretically, I could make as many fresh installs from the boot media I want, as long as initially, I did the upgrade (not a clean install), and the hardware of the laptop does not change. Is this correct?

2A. If, therefore, during the first boot media clean installation process, I'd be sure compeletly remove the Lenovo recovery partition entirely and go from there, rely on 'Reset your PC' feature of Windows 10? Could I could use even just reinstall Windows boot again media 10 as a way to recover? If I understand correctly, it is not absurd to keep recovery partition it if it can not be used within Windows 10.

I think I had a desktop PC ordinary with a retail version of Windows, then everything above would be fine. The complications added here are that 1. I have no product key Windows 8.1 (alll is managed by the BIOS) and 2. I have no recovery disk. I want to make sure that I understand everything completely before moving, and potentially do a clean installation using bootable media, so that I don't end up ruin something and end up with either a laptop I can not recover, a Windows installation that is not enabled.

    Thank you.

Update for anyone of another reading:

I just uninstall OneKey recovery on my installation of Windows 8.1 for the upgrade. While Windows is concerned, OneKey Recovery has been completely removed.

The good news is that I then shut down the laptop, you press the novo button, selected "System Recovery" and I was always greeted with OneKey recovery program where I could choose to restore from original image, or a custom image. So I guess that once I have upgraded to Windows 10, I'll always have the option to restore to the factory Windows 8.1 if I ever need/want to.

The confusion seems to be that OneKey recovery software is actually two separate software:

1 OneKey Recovery #1 is installed in the hidden recovery partition which is responsible to perform a system restore from the image of your choice - either the image of plant or a custom image created by #2 OneKey recovery software. OneKey Recovery Software #1 is still accessible via the Novo button.

2 OneKey Recovery #2 is installed on the Windows 8.1 installation, which is responsible for the creation of custom system images. You can also choose to restore the system from here, but AFAIK, it just restarts the computer and OneKey #1 software, which allows you to recover expenses. OneKey Recovery #2 is the software Lenovo told us to uninstall it before Windows 10. However, uninstalling OneKey Recovery #2 let software OneKey Recovery tact #1.

As far as I know, this means that the uninstall OneKey Recovery #2 mean that we lose the ability to create custom system images, but we reserve the option to restore from a system image.

Can anyone confirm that I understood, and that what I said above is indeed the case?

I'm still a little uncertain about what Windows built tens in the willingness to ' PC ' do well - that it will use the Lenovo recovery partition or run a 10 Windows Installer Clean up.

  • Bitlocker recovery key

I need the bitlocker recovery key

You need to export that you disable bitlocker. If the key and the password is lost, no recovery

  • Cannot access an external hard drive lost, encrypted BitLocker recovery key and do not know where to enter the password to unlock it.

I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-Bit on a Sony Vaio. Worked great, seems awsome and rolls GOOS GOOS, for a new operating system. I decided to use the BitLocker feature that I wanted to use from Vista Ultimate, which was incredibly dificult unlike BitLocker in Windows 7, which is extremely simple to use. So simple in fact, I encrypted my external hard drive Verbatim 160 Gig where the original BACKUP files are with ALL my original documents, settings and files of the company are located. I haven't used a USB key, or don't have I recorded the RecoveryKey, I printed and completely loses it, I remember perfectly well the password I used. Problem is I have NOW, I can't ACCESS MY HARD DRIVE! When I try to access the hard drive it asked me not the password recovery key. Please help me, im in deep poopie. I wish I could change the world, if only I could find a diapper big enough to hold so many things...

Hey thanks for the reply Kev, but I must say that I did and didn't. The new Windows 7 operating system has this feature built-in and it is much easier to use. So yes I did it, but I made using windows 7 have where, instead of download all the files, I just insert the original DVD of WIndows 7, I restart my PC and follow the instructions of recovery of BitLocker recovery key, and voila. The problem is that I've NEVER stored on this particular external hard drive recovery key. BTW: I tried to follow the steps mentioned by Mr. Vijay but inconsistent tool with my operating system (Windows 7 64-Bit) it only works with Vista (not 150 percent certain but close). Please correct me if Im wrong. I wish I could change the world, if only I could find a diapper big enough to hold so many things...

  • Message "You must supply a BitLocker recovery key to start"

    original title: Bitlocker recovery question

'You must supply a BitLocker recovery key to start' message appears sporadically and I get the following screen: Bitlocker of Windows Driver - information encryption system boot information changed since Bitlocker is enabled. You must supply a key to have Bitlocker to start this system. Confirm that the changes to the system boot information are allowed. If changes to the system boot information are approved, then suspend and resume Bitlocker. This will reset Bitlocker to use the new startup information, if not restore the system boot information. I enter my key and my system accpts it.  Why should I have to re-enter this information every day?  I've suspended and resumed the protection. It started after an automatic update of Windows Update. • Should I order initial recovery disks or upgrade to windows 7 discs?

I have a HP Pavilion p6116f Desktop 64 bit Vista operating system updated and original upgraded to Windows 7, my drive crashed so I'm looking for the recovery disc.  Should I order initial recovery disks or upgrade to windows 7 discs?

    Harddrivealert, welcome to the forum.

If you use original recovery disks it will restore the computer to its orignal configuration, including Vista.  You can't get recovery for the computer disks that include Win 7.  You will need to purchase a full copy of Windows.  You need to make sure that you can find all the drivers for Win 7.

  • Good chipset driver for Aurora R4 before upgrade to Windows 10

    Hello

1.I am trying to update all my drivers before upgrading to Windows 10, such as recommended by Dell.

I used assist support that identifies my computer correctly, he took me to the site download and accessible tab: Guide Me. He identified an Intel 9.4.2.1019 chipset driver, and I installed it. Turns out I didn't look carefully and is identified as supporting Area 51 computer, not the Aurora R4. So far, the computer works well.

When I go to the tab "I will find them me" and the SEO of my specific computer once again, it shows the Aurora R4 driver driver Intel 9.4.0.1026 chipset. I downloaded and tried to install it thinking that my first download suggested by mistake, but when I click on install a warning comes up saying that I am trying to install a driver more OLD, so I left.

How can I find out what Chipset Intel driver is correct before moving on to Windows 10?

2 Dell recommend upgrading the BIOS to the latest version. I have A 03. Downloaded A 11 on the site less 'I find them myself' and when I tried to run it in Windows, it says that I must update to A05, everything first. But there is no A 05 not listed any where on the site drivers and downloads for the Aurora R4.

I really must in view of the possibility of computer rendered inoperative with flash BIOS, upgrade to A11 to make my transition to Windows 10 quote? If I do where can I find the driver?

    Thank you

    Greg

  • BitLocker recovery key queries every time

I use Windows 7 x 64 RTM on my ThinkPad X200T. Everything is fine except that the Bitlocker asks the recovery key at every startup even if I use the TPM module. I have not changed the parameters of start or anything, and I tried to suspend/activate Bitlocker as already suggested... someone help me please.

Has found the solution for my problem.

    http://blog.mpecsinc.ca/2007/11/Windows-Vista-BitLocker-error-System.html

Article is on Vista, but it's pretty much the same in Windows 7. PCR parameters are located under the folder of the operating system drive. The article said to uncheck everything except 11, but just unchecking 10 worked for me.

  • 3 surface Pro stuck trying to start issuing bitlocker recovery key

My Surface Pro 3 took ages to restart (circle of points spinning for centuries). So I went in safe mode (see photo). He recommended I go to windows.microsoft.com/recoverykeyfaq and I enter the key ID.

My machine is joined to a domain, but I'm not on the network, because I can't start and even if I was, I'm at me so impossible to get the field

Bitlocker options give me anywhere to enter the id of the key. I do not have a backup of the recovery key (it was not given to me), and even if I try to reset my pc option it asks installation or Windows recovery support. Which I did not.

I would have hoped that recovery of bitlocker on the URL above would have given me a way to capture the key Id to unlock bitlocker!

  • I have the recovery key, but when I try to use it, I said it's the wrong recovery key?

Please can someone give me some tips or advice to help me with this problem is annoying.

As I mentioned I saved my recovery key (RK) because I think it's a great tool, but when I tried to use it for the first time on my brand new computer, I was quickly told - bad recovery key. So I clicked on the "I lost my other device" to get one new/another one? RK, I put the key in the box only to tell the same story again? RK hard. What I'm doing wrong, I can't make heads or tails of it.

    Any suggestions would be grateful...

The link "I lost my other device" to reset the key of the synchronization only works if you have entered the user name and password of an existing synchronization account.

To find your key (must be device with synchronization already install)

    • At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Options
    • Select the Sync Panel.
    • Click on manage the account, then select my recovery key. It will open a window that displays your recovery key.

    To generate a new key

    See: replace your synchronized data

See: How to choose what type of information to synchronize on Firefox?

  • How to re-enable the Vista key after upgrade to Windows 7

    original title: Activattion

I bought a legal copy of Vista 64 bit and I installed on a computer. I then used Windows 7 64 bit upgrade for upgrading Vista to 7. So now, Vista is not installed on this computer. Since this copy is not installed on any computer that I then installed Vist 32 bits with the same product key, as both versions came in a single package. This computer is dead and no longer in use. So now, either 32-bit or 64-bit version is installed on any computer. So I decided to install the 64-bit version on a virtual machine that is the only thing that it is installed on and I can't seem to activate. I know the State of the installation on a single computer, but I thougth that if uninstall you you can reinstall on another computer. All of these computers are mine and only installed on a Vista machine. They have never been installed on two machines at a time. The installation of Vista, I have currently is in a virtual machine. Is there a way I can get this activated copy?

If you used to upgrade Vista Windows 7 is the upgrade version, rather than the Full Installer version, so your Vista license is no longer valid, as it is subsumed under the license of Win 7.
