ASM diskgroup with different disc size

Hello

DB: 10.2.0.4
Operating system: AIX 5.3 64-bit L

I have installation on 10g RAC ASM with node 2. It has the only Eve on ASM.

Total DB size is 250 GB.
Total size of FRA is 700 GB.

My FRA diskgroup to archivelog (also holds multiplex controlfile) each size of 50 GB drive. Even if I set the retention period for 1 day, backup to disk, rman getting failed, due to space issues. So I manually delete obsolete data report and rerun backup.

I want to add the workspace to FRA diskgroup regarding adding disks to FRA diskgroup. But, I have 100 GB drives available , it's not the same waist size of current existing FRA disc (50 GB).

Here's my question

(1) that I can Add the size different to the same diskgroup disc ?. If I add, are there performance problems?
My all data files are out of FRA diskgroup and there are someother diskgroup.

(2) if FRA diskgroup 50 GB and 100 GB of disks, and then how the archivelog and backup data will be erased?
Will the data stored up to 50 GB in all disks in FRA, even * 100 GB * disc is?.

(3) while doing recovery with different size of disk at diskgroup, what kind of problems can I face in performance wise?

(4) can I remove any diskgroup 50 GB disks and add the 100 GB drive, so that I can increase the size of the disk in the same diskgroup?. I'll remove it and add at the same time.

(5) add disks redundant external diskgroup , I'm ok with the following query?

ALTER DISKGROUP FRA add DRIVE ' </dev/rhdsk1 >', </dev/rhdsk2 > ', </dev/rhdsk3 > ';

Please help me on my doubts above.

Thank you and best regards,
Therese

Hi Sunand,

(1) can I add different diskgroup disc even size?. If I add, are there performance problems?
My all data files are out of FRA diskgroup and there are someother diskgroup.

A minimum of four (Oracle ASM disks) LUNS of equal size and performance is recommended for each disk group

(2) if FRA diskgroup 50 GB and 100 GB of disks, and then how the archivelog and backup data will be erased?
Data are saved up to 50 GB in all disks of FRA, same 100 GB drive is it?

Oracle ASM data distribution policy is based on the ability. Ensure that the Oracle ASM disks in a disk group have the same ability to maintain balance.

(3) while doing recovery with different size of disk at diskgroup, what kind of problems can I face in performance wise?

Ensure that all Oracle ASM disks in a disk group have similar performance characteristics and the availability of storage. In configurations of storage with dimmers of mixed speed, for example, 10 K and 15 K rpm, i/o performance is limited by the slow speed control.

(4) can I remove any diskgroup 50 GB disks and add the 100 GB drive, so that I can increase the size of the disk in the same diskgroup?. I'll remove it and add at the same time.

Yes. First, you add the 100 GB drive and then remove the drives from 50 GB.

(5) to add disks to external redundancy diskgroup, I'm ok with the following query?
ALTER DISKGROUP FRA ADD DRIVE ",", ";

Redundancy is controlled by the diskgroup. Then simply add the disks.

e.g ALTER DISKGROUP FRA ADD DISK '/dev/rhdsk1', '/dev/rhdsk2', '/dev/rhdsk3';

See doc below... Here are all your anwser.

  • Displays a text ("sample application") Logo and Description ("this is a sample application") with different font size

    Hello

    I use the universal theme of apex 5.0 and tries to display logo text ("sample application") and description ("This is a sample application") with different font size.

    Type of logo - text

    Logo - sample application - this is a sample application.

    I want to display the description in the smallest font size, so I changed the Logo below

    Logo - < span style = "" are-size: 3.8 rem; ' > Sample App </span > - < span style = "" Dimensions are: 1.8 rem; "> this is a sample application </span >" "

    But I have following problem.

    1 - the font size for both is the same (why the size is not different?, because I gave the size of different font within the span tag)

    2 - the text of the whole logo whose description is displayed twice.

    -Once in place of the actual logo and

    -the second on the left upper tree navigation. (just below the text of the actual logo)

    I tried to use the logo attribute, but what makes the whole logo & its description with the same size. I need size of different font for both, so it is unusable.

    Attribute logo - style = "" are-size: 3.8 rem; ""

    Really appreaciate help.

    Thank you

    Logo - sample application - this is a sample application.

    I want to display the description in the smallest font size, so I changed the Logo below

    Logo - application example - This is an example of application.

    But I have following problem.

    1 - the font size for both is the same (why the size is not different?, because I gave the size of different font within the span tag)

    Cannot reproduce. Using the code above results in different format text as expected. (He looks terrible IMO)

    2 - the text of the whole logo whose description is displayed twice.

    -Once in place of the actual logo and

    -the second on the left upper tree navigation. (just below the text of the actual logo)

    Including HTML tags in text in the 5.0/theme 42 APEX logos results in this behavior. I consider this as a bug as (a) it says nowhere that it is not possible to do so; (b) the text of the logo is not HTML - or attribute-escaped when used in the page.

    See How to avoid to show the logo on the navigation bar to get an explanation of the underlying cause and a workaround to allow the common use cases include the text and a picture in the logo. This particular solution is of no use here. The solution to this problem requires a custom with the theme the theme roller style sheet, which is the preferred way and support to customize and extend the universal theme.

    • Click the Thème Roller on the developer toolbar.
    • Expand the CSS custom section.
    • Add this style custom rule:
    .t-Header-logo a span {
      font-size: 3.8rem;
    }
    .t-Header-logo a span:after {
      font-size: 1.8rem;
      content: " - This is a sample application.";
    }

    • The page will automatically preview changes.
    • Click on record under and type a name for the style of custom theme.
    • Topic close Roller
    • I hope that decide that it is not a good idea and cancel the mods.

    ^^
    I saw once on the google site a syntax as above. I was under the assumption that, for alteast disks 2 ASM are required (assuming normal redundancy); But here we can see one disc is defined.

    Sorry, I don't have an ASM Setup to test this, so would you need advice from people.

    By default, ASM tries to create a normal redundancy disk group. Therefore, he expected to have at least 2 groups of disks.
    But yes, even with one disk, you can create a disk group, but you must expressly state that it will be external redundancy.

  • Resizing a paragraph of text with different font sizes?

    Hello

    I create a restaurant menu with a lot of text of different size.  It is a way to mass change the sizes of the fonts all at once?

    For example:

    Plate: <--(14pt et "BOLD")

    Rib eye of beef <--(12pt et italique)

    Beef tender Sirloin steak grilled with red wine sauce <-(8pt)

    Chicken Curry <--(12pt et italique)

    Chicken in a curry sauce <-(8pt)

    I would like to be able to reduce all 1pt lines in a go, is there a way to do?

    Thank you very much!

    JJTJ

    On such a project, you should set the paragraph Styles you want. Then, it's a simple matter to change Style definitions.

  • Ready NAS NV + - different disc size

    Hello

    I have a ReadyNAS NV + and failed drive and have to by a new one.
    Is it possible to increase the size on a single disc.
    Today, its 4 * 1 TB disks and I want to change a 2 TB drive (for the future to replace the other 3 for the greater)
    The RAID will accept the largest disk and rebuild still or is it going to fail because I need same size on all drives?

    (The old ST31000528AS 1 TB drive has 32 MB of cache and the new 2 TB ST2000NM0033 128 MB of Cache memory)

    Thank you very much for the support!

    She will accept the player, but you will get no expansion replace just one of the disks.

    If it's the v1, then you need to replace all four drives (one at a time of course) for expansion.

    If this is the v2 only two drives will be replaced to get the expansion.

    Note that the 2 TB drives are the maximum capacity supported by the v1.

  • How can I create a Lightbox with different thumbnail sizes. for example, landscape, portrait, etc.?

    Ideally, I would like the images on my site, because I put out them, to link to a lightbox if we click. However it does not seem that I am able to do this without using the lightbox widget and free shape thumbnails. Now, I know that I can create thumbnails of freeeform and position them where I like, but it is, they all change together and remain in the same proportions. This help me I have pictures portrait and landscape. I want the thumbnails to have identical heights but different widths.

    Greater functionality Muse would be the ability to connect any object to a viewer. Seems doable?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hey Oisin,

    Please use the "Composition-> display Lightbox" and let me know if you are able to achieve.

  • Printing with different paper size (hp deskjet 940c)

    I sell things on ebay; Therefore, I have to go to the post office every day and write the shipping address of the vendors on a label of post office.  I want to print this label at home.  How can I set up a usps label in my hp deskjet 940c printer.

    Hello!

    I used the USPS print on eBay Wizard to print a label for shipping on my printer.  If you are printing on plain paper, then use ribbons of packaging on the label, you are finished.  Also, they will pick up your packages at home, if you use a pre-printed label.  Stamps make nervous, however.

    The next time you sell something, there should be a link "print shipping label", you can click on.  You must measure the box and have a fairly accurate weight.  I use a scale, then round.  If you have a kitchen scale, which would work better, I think.

    According to me, who must take care of it!  I would like to know if you have any questions or encounter a problem.

  • How can I text perfectly vertical center with different font sizes

    Hello

    I have a frame:

    http://www.Flickr.com/photos/82397830@n03/7960870684/

    I tried a vertical centering by defining block of text Options > vertical Justification > Align: Center, but my text is not always get centered vertically. When I put in English words instead of Hebrew ones Gets the text vertical centered.

    There is a sort of invisible box around characters in a font. The measures of the frame of the lower part of the characters below the baseline (such as p or j) to as high as high as the tops of the Capitol letters for diacritical marks such as umlauts and accents. Given that most of the characters are not completely going toward the highest handle or down to the lowest decender, it may seem that the text is not centered between the two vertical points.

    If you need the text to be centered exactly, you can cheat it by applying the vertical offset, but keep in mind that if you change the text, you may need to adjust the amount of vertical offset again. You can use the vertical offset for the text itself, or change text frame options and change the Baseline Options. Also, in your screenshot, I see you have rounded edges on your block of text. The vertical justification works on rectangular text blocks, it's why that doesn't work.

  • Different block size in the same cluster

    Hello

    We use vSphere 4.0 U1. The size of the block of our VMFS data warehouses is configured as 1 MB.
    We plan to add a new datastore with 2 or 4 MB, my question is:
    Is it possible to configure different block sizes in the same cluster without damaging the VMS and without affecting
    vMotion, SVMotion, FT, vDR, I/O performance, clone the virtual machine in another data store, deploy a VM in the data store different block size... etc?
    If it's ok then all limitations or disadvantages should we pay attention to?
    I have'nt found any document concerning the present and hope you guys can shed some light on this subject.
    Thanks in avdance.

    It is not question of having data with different block sizes stores - the only thing you need to keep in mind is the size limitations of different file between the block sizes - so you won't able to svmotion a virtual machine if the VMDK sizes are both great.

    Your Interactive SQL command specifies only 1 FailGroup when there is to specify two FailGroups.

  • Disaster recovery with different ASM starts

    Hi@all,

    in fact, I'm testing a scenario of recovery after a disaster. To an Oracle Linux 6 Server with installed grid below 12 c and Ora Database 11.2.0.4 (there is also a 12.1.0.2 instance of database) I'm doing a recovery after a disaster. But I'm unleashed by the restoration and recovery of the database. The problem here is that ASM diskgroup name has changed. As you read I also changed the physical server, but I think that should not be a problem.

    To the old server, I have two ASM starts '+ DATA' and '+ FRA_1', to the new, they are called '+ DATA_SRVNAME' and '+ FRA_SRVNAME '. I already changed the startup in spfile parameter, but now after restoring the controlfile RMAN has directions to the old diksgroup:

    RMAN> report schema;

    using target database control file instead of recovery catalog
    RMAN-06139: WARNING: control file is not current for REPORT SCHEMA

    ---- -------- -------------------- ------- ------------------------
    1    0        SYSTEM               ***     +DATA/SID/datafile/system.438.816606399

    So I tried three ways. First was rename data file name:

    ALTER DATABASE RENAME FILE '+DATA/SID/datafile/system.438.816606399' TO '+DATA_SRVNAME/SID/datafile/system.438.816606399';

    Then had to set the newname in RMAN:

    set newname for datafile 16 to '+DATA_SRVNAME/SID/datafile/mms_basic_tab.455.816617697/';

    And the second was to recreate the controlfile with

    CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE DATABASE "SID" RESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG
        MAXLOGFILES 16
        MAXLOGMEMBERS 3
        MAXDATAFILES 254

        MAXLOGHISTORY 1815
    LOGFILE
      GROUP 1 ('+DATA__SRVNAME', '+FRA_SRVNAME')  SIZE 1024M,
    DATAFILE
      '+DATASRVNAME/SID/datafile/system.438.816606399',
    CHARACTER SET AL32UTF8;

    But the three methods gave me the error that the file data to the new location is not available (for example):

    ORA-15012: ASM file '+DATA_QUM169/cogn11/datafile/system.438.816606399' does not exist

    So now my question: how am I able to say the controlfile or the database to use the another diskgroup in ASM?

    I know, the simplest way would be to create a diskgroup + DATA and do the restore / recovery, but on the new server, I have no more storage to assign to a new diskgroup, and because there are running other forums I would'nt change ASM starts.

    Do you have anny solution?

    A big thank you and best regards,

    Dave

    Please try this

    RMAN > run

    {

    the value of newname for datafile 1 to "+ DATA_SRVNAME";

    restore data file 1;

    switch datafile 1;

    recover datafile 1;

    }

    Did you create + diskgroup DATA_SRVNAME?

    and
