Aspire AS5742-6682 disk size hard max?

Hello

Just bought an Acer Aspire AS5742-6682 and would like to know what is the biggest hard drive I can stuff into it.  It currently has OEM 320, but I would like to get the bigger disk into it as possible.

See you soon!

Robbie

Any capacity HARD drive should work fine, as long as he is physically than a standard notebook size HDD.

Aspire 722-0473 drive HARD HDD Replacemnet_Segate. Even as the OEm HARD drive... Win7 installation is not HARD drive... Despite... Download all the drivers, I was able to find AMD (NForce)... I'm not a novice at this sort of thing, but I am not above like "I know everything" of IT admin... I CAN learn and listen...

I searched Hi n lo for two days... run the win7 doesn't install, no HARD visible... searched the USB disk I loaded with hundreds of drivers... all to nothing done so this thing has become a $ 300 door stop. If someone can enlighten us, I would be eternally grateful that it was a gift for my aunt and now she's going bananas and I really want to drop another 3 bills.

It's ridiculus that there is no more support for this product, that it is. I even downloaded a new iso standard digital river in the hope that drivers would be... dead end...

    Thanks in advance.

Following suggestions from laurent_14 , I checked the HARD drive was in good working condition.

Using DiskPart with the 'clean' command, has solved the problem. (to be honest, I completely forgot to diskpart)

I am now sitting at the window "Select the user name for your account" on a new install of Win7.

Thanks to laurent_14 and their assistance. During this process, I find that the CPU fan is not operational. I have another on the way.

    Hello

    That said 500 GB:

    http://h20000.www2.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&TaskID=120&prodSeriesId=3824206&prodTypeId=12454&ObjectID=c01659236

However, a 750 GB hard drive might work too. I can't say with certainty that your pc is a desktop computer and this section is for laptops, but the recovery disk/s may not work on a drive that is much larger than the original one in any case.

  • Drive HARD Max size for Satellite 3000-514 with BIOS 2.30

    Hi people!

What is the largest size HD notebook with BIOS 2.30 recognizes.
I have not found any FAQ information ragarding this version of BIOS.

    Thx for your help.

    Hello

Satellite 3000-514 supports the HARD disk sizes up to 30 GB.
You need a disk HARD 2.5 ", the 9.5 mm support bus master IDE, synchronous Ultra DMA 33/66

Larger sizes of HARD drive are not supported, and I guess that the BIOS will not recognize it.

  • Envy touchsmart 15 - new HARD disk size

I recently ordered a Touchsmart from HP Envy 15-j005sa that has a 1 TB HARD drive. I'm looking to clone the orignial in an mSATA SSD drive so I was wondering what size is recommended.  How much space is used when it is new so using this information can buy a large enough disk size?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

There is that little clone options b clone the HARD disk which means that you have the mSATA SSD equal or more 1 TB (b) clone c ONLY: This means you the mSATA SSD equal or superior to c:... My suggestion: shrink C: for small size say even 60 GB or 120 GB (if you don't have a lot of programs installed) FRONT of clone and ONLY clone C: normally larger (capacity) is better because you can install more programs that him.

    Kind regards.

  • disk size problm after copying a large file to the VM then disconnected

    Dear Sir

I have a VM with allowances dynamic storage virtual hard drive of 300 GB,.

HE on that disk space is 50 GB.

Ive copied on it a 100 GB file so now space space disc is 150 GB and 150 GB is free.

Ive deleted the file 100 GB of the virtual machine, but am supersized now that the file of the virtual machine is still 150 GB in size.

What should do? as it fits the 50 GB after deleting the file from the virtual machine.

    Hello

    Yes it is planned.

You have copied a huge file in the virtual computer-> who is the virtual disk in order to accommodate the new file->

You remove the huge file-> your take off just to comments operating system, the file in the list of the directory->

Your data is still there, it does not erase the data and rewrite from scratch.

In order to recover the disk space, you need a number of things:

-first of all your guests, OS file system must be supported (Windows FAT/NTFS is)

    -Your guest must be stopped

-The type of the guest operating system disk should not be preallocated.

-Your host operating system might need a lot of free space on the drive according to your VM disk configuration.

If stored in several files, you must have a few GB free (size of the Ramdisk / 32) Go, but say more than 4 GB, keep 10 GB free to be on the safe side.

If your virtual machine is stored in a single file, so you must have your used VM disk size + a few GB of free... for example. If your virtual disk is currently using 200 GB you need tell 204 GB free before starting the operation of a compact disc.

Then in the configuration of VMware go into settings of virtual machines:

    Use the 'Compact disc' button.

Be very very patient and wait, because you want to get 100GB which will take some time.

  • How to get the maximum disk size for a powershell prompt

    Hi guys

I tried all day to get the value of the maximum disk size allocated to a virtual machine. Using get - view I can see the actual size of disc but when I look at VM via 'Edit Machine' I see ' hard disk 1' ability to 40 GB and and size maximum (GB) to 97.5 - How do I get this maximum size via powershell?

    See you soon

    Sparky

Near there, it is actually the amount of free space on the data store over the current size of the hard drive.

With this script, you can calculate the value

    foreach($dev in (Get-VM  | Get-View).Config.Hardware.Device){
      if($dev.DeviceInfo.Label -like "Hard Disk*"){
        $dsFree = (Get-Datastore (Get-View -Id $dev.Backing.Datastore).Info.Name).FreeSpaceMB
         $diskSize = ($dev.CapacityInKB / 1Kb)
         $MaxSize = $dsFree + $diskSize
         Write-Host "Maximum size for" $dev.DeviceInfo.Label "=" ("{0:f2}" -f (($dsFree + $disksize)/ 1Kb)) "Gb"
      }
    }

  • Portege 7100 - what size HARD drive it does support?

    Hello

my old man (I'm a student, so no money for a new) Portege 7100 (ct) has a small hard drive, so I want to shift to a bigger... but what size HARD drive supports the 7100ct? (and that's a 1.8 "or can I use drives 2.5"?)

    thx for any help...

    Hello

As far as I know that your unit has standard 2.5 "hard drive. Unfortunately there is no public record of such information. Accurate information, you can get that from accredited service partner or even some HARD drive supplier.
In my opinion, your device must be able to manage with maximum up to 8 or 10 GB HARD drive. For me, we know that some offering it can manipulate the BIOS with special tools and after that BIOS recognize a much larger capacity HARD drive.

Try to pick up some information on the net service partner or call your country. I believe that consultation service is free.

  • I can't install the second disk sata hard

I have a problem when install the second disk sata hard
I bought a new one 500 GB and I installed windows xp sp3
and it works well I plugged in SATA 0 port
When I want to install a second sata hard disk 320 on sata 1
and it has an important data, windows will reboot, and do
    blue screen sometimes 'NTFS.sys"or"SCSIPORT.sys.
    and it is written "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".
If someone help me what should I do or there is no FIX for this problem.

in the BIOS I have regcognized both hard drivers:
    IDE pri master 500 GB
    PRI IDE slave 320
    Second master IDE-
    Second slave IDE-
    PORT SATA - 0
    SATA 1 - PORT

    I plugged the IDE 2 cd-rom

    ----------
    Specification of the device:
    Windows xp sp3
    card mother gigabyte 848P
    Intel ICH5
    Intel 8I848p775-g
    Celeron D Socket 775

You said that the hard drives are sata but your bios recognizes them as IDE depending on your position. You might have to set your bios to operate in sata mode or enable AHCI of have recognized them as sata. Regarding the error you get, look in the system BIOS to boot from hard disk command menu. This is different from the command menu of usual starting where you choose each time you start a cd ROM or hard drive ect... The parameter that I refer to determine which hard drive of your computer starts on the first. Change to the primary master 500 GB disk > save your settings and restart your computer. Even if one is defined as main and the other slave is not serious. Some bios have the ability to choose what hard drive to boot from. In other words, it is adjustable to start first on the slave drive.

  • Aspire V3 - 574G - internal Second hard drive

I discovered that my lappy, after tearing down, it has only a hard disk location. I counted on my STRANGE with a disk replacing hard as I don't really use it.

I looked on eBay and found the correctly sized hard drive caddy and a large SSD. I'm planning to move my slow Western Digital 5400 RPM drive hard to the caddy and install the card Sandisk Ultra II 480 GB about the location of the main hard drive.

My question is: it'll work? I've seen reports that this configuration * rarely * does not, but many reports, videos and tutorials that it will work with any laptop. It makes sense since the ODD uses the SATA standard after all. I would like just to confirm.

If your optical drive location has a working sata connection, there is no reason why it wouldn't work.

    Hi Mike,.

You can not install it. This must be done using the floppy drive. This feature is available for Vista and Windows 7.
