Aspire ME600 BIOS update has made the system useless

In January 2013, I bought what I thought, it was a solid through Amazon, an Acer AME600-UR378 product. Has a fast processor and lots of RAM. As a tech geek I was sure that I made a good purchase. It wasn't super smooth, but I have advanced and added an SSD as my Starter/primary OS drive. Everything was peachy... until now.

This week, I tried to put in place the support dual monitor. When the new connection of video card was not recognized, I decided to be smart and ask help from Acer chat service before mucking around too deep into the system myself. They chatted amiably far and suggest I should update my BIOS from the system and even gave me a direct download link to the file.

The zip came with a simple pdf page and so I gave it a go. Five easy steps, flash, reboot and my machine has now been rendered useless. I now get the blue screen of death, with errors such as "start your PC configuration data is missing or contains errors." To try a refresh/reset, I get an error saying that the drive is locked. On trying to use the recovery disc I made when I got the system, it is said that this is not a recognizable disk.

I got a few things to try friends of IT operations, but none have worked. SanDisk support suggested, I update the firmare on the SSD, but it does not solve the problem.

Despite all is based on the file and the recommendation of the Acer support, I am now told by 4 different representatives (so far) that my system is under warranty and they would be happy to help once I gave them more money. I am angry and disgusted by the present, in addition to being frustrated that I can't find a solution to this day. Hours and hours of googling and research have given ideas, but none that worked.

So, I throw myself at the mercy of this forum, in the hope that someone who has some kind of idea on how I can bring my pc back to life.

Thank you, in advance!

Doug

EEK.

I turn and watch the bios options.  The tab at the end should be called something like 'Boot' opposite of what it is now, I would like to put the startup mode option: legacy / UEFI.

I would also check the bios options for all which allow change of disc HARD Sata IDE to AHCI mode/Mode, ideally, you should be set to AHCI.  But keep in mind you can have a Raid option, too.

One of these "could" solve your problem.

What blue screens you get exactly? What version of bios go you to? What are the first 10 digits of your serial number of computers?

Well, the BIOS problems can be solved only by a Toshiba authorized service partner.
I guess the ROM module where the BIOS is stored, not properly was flashed.
The Rom module can be flashed again using a disc special crisis.

  • SP1 update has disabled the startup. Please help (error 0x8007000E)

original title: SP1 update has disabled the startup. Help, please

I ran the upgrade of windows (84 files) and restarted the pc, checking upgrade again and he said updated service pack 1 or SP1 so I start making level and after a long time its still shows the installation but the icon in the lower right shows 100% so I clicked on cancel and then restarted the pc.

Now Im getting a Startup Repair error box that search startup errors but says "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically. I can click on 'Finish' or 'Cancel' if I click on end it shuts down the pc if I click cancel it reboots the pc. another box pops up that says "Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically.
My options are 'Send info on this problem (recommended)' or 'do not send' if I click it scans a second and then the box goes away leaving the 1st box of error described above.

I tried to hit F8 and using 'repair your computer' this is for me the box of system recovery options. Sign in with my user name and password to choose a recovery tool.

    • Startup Repair
    • system restore
    • restore complete Windows pc
    • Windows memory diagnostic tool
    • command prompt
    • Recovery Manager

I tried startup repair, but get the same message as above.
I tried the system restore (which does not affect any of my files, documents, etc..) Then he said: choose a restore point that I want to use, but the only option is the 31/05/2011 install Windows Vista Service Pack 1... then I go ahead and try it and it says it will restart my pc and apply the changes. It initializes, file restore, then a box pop up saying system restore has failed. has failed because of an unspecified error. Not enough memory is available to complete this operation. (0x8007000E)

So I try here this forum...
Question: Lets say there's someone who can get my pc back to normal... what I need updated SP1 and SP2?

    Hello

Not having the system restore, you can try a different restore point and check. If the problem persists, then you must try a startup repair and system restore boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista.

You can try to disconnect all the external devices (except keyboard and mouse) and tries to boot from the disk and check.

  • Satellite L40 - 1.90 bios update has no effect on the reboot of Vista except

    Hello

We have a laptop L40 and very happy with it. There BIOS 1.60 and I want to update to 1.90. 32 - Vista Home Basic has been installed by default. He now has SP1.

When I unzip the package and run the bat file (that start with binary winflash), the 'dos' window opens and stays there for a while. Nothing happens and then the window closes and the system is restarted.

When I run just winflash, nothing happens. There is no dialogue or any other message.

    How is - a is updating the bios on the L40 - 14Y (PSL48E)?

    THX!

    DickS

    Hello

I'm really surprised, why you start the file beats if there is no exe file. Unzip all of the files on the desktop to the laptop and open the winflash.exe file, follow the instructions on the screen.
Make sure that the laptop is connected to the power supply current and NOT to interrupt by running the update of the BIOS.

  • Pavilion G6 - 1061ee BIOS update error causing the extreme fan noise

    Hello

It been a while since that HP has completed a new update of the BIOS for my Pavilion G6-1061ee, I got v f.63.

But now, they have made a new update of BIOS that is v f.65 I downloaded the file (the insydeFlash BIOS update) and when I run it and press START, my system freeze suddenly and EXTREMELY increase fan noise, it's like my CPU usage is 300% then in a few moments, the system shuts down and I could not be able to turn on the computer again , So I had to unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery then return everything back to be able to turn it on.

So can anyone help me with this problem.

    OS: 8 64-bit Windows

RAM: 8 GB (Original was 4 GB... And added another 4 GB)

    CPU: Intel (r) Core i5 CPU M480

GPU: Radeon HD 6470 M with Intel HD 3400 grapchics

    - And thank you

    Kind regards

    Hello PedroMarthon.

Are you currently overclocking the graphics card?

In order to solve this problem, I think you should uninstall third-party drivers and use the official drivers for Windows 7 and the workaround posted by my peers.  The reason I suggest, is that the use of third-party drivers could cause strange problems and it will be easier to solve the problem.

What I would say is remove the third-party drivers and then using the method posted in my response above.  Once the process is complete, I would try and then update the BIOS again.  If successful, you can remove Windows 7 drivers and again use your third-party drivers.  However, I'm not against the use of third-party drivers.

I appreciated the way in which you have been given to work with me, so I went to come your messages of congratulations.  If you think that I was helpful please click the White Star under my name to give my messages of congratulations.  I would really appreciate it!

I will keep an eye out for your next answer.  I wish you a nice day!

  • BIOS update failed with the Satellite A210-17Z

I was asked by Tempro to update the BIOS of my laptop Satellite A210-17Z.
I agreed but the laptop turns off before completing the update of the BIOS. As a result, I can no longer boot my computer.

Looking for a solution on the internet, I have read that there is a possibility of creating a crisis recovery disk. I tried to do with the Phoenix crisis package, creating a crisis with a disk recovery disk and so on.

When you try to Flash the BIOS and the start-up of the machine, I was pretty convinced to succeed as the system did start reading the disk for about 2 minutes... but nothing happened.

I would like to know if anyone has experience and advice to help me recover my laptop.
I was told that I should try with the original version of the BIOS (the one I got when I bought the computer) but I do not know how to find it because I don't know what version I had at the beginning.

    Hello

To be honest, I think Tempro is the worst app Toshiba :-(that prompts users to update the Bios and after failure of the Bios. In this forum, you can find numerous threads about the failure of the Bios. He recommended to contact the ASP (SAV) to reflash it. You can read and ask other users how to recover the Bios Phoenix:

  • Equium L40: After bad Bios update cannot use the WLan

Hi there hope someone can help.

I've updated the Bios as tempo toshiba said, but I have not read the last piece. Who was that it is not for mine which is the model L40.

I have now tried to put the right pair, but he says he can't. As I'm putting that has an earlier date.

My main problem now is that my wireless stopped working, it says its there and so to work, I put the switch on, but he can't find any networks he used to find approximately 4 in my area

Do I have to restore my entire system :(?

I'm really confused about your message because the European Toshiba page provides drivers and BIOS for one Equium L40 series m.
I found 2 different versions of the BIOS for Equium L40; a BIOS for XP and a BIOS for Vista.

In my opinion it of almost not possible to update the BIOS with the wrong version

However, it you have updated and used the wrong BIOS, then you must contact the ASP to help

But first, I recommend a check of the WLan configuration

  • Lenovo X 60-Cause: BIOS updated has failed, result: cell death

I work in a company as IT Manager and during an update of a laptop Lenovo X 60 Type: 1707-CTO using "system update" application, in the middle of the process stopped BIOS flashing / crashed before the end and now the laptop don't boot/boot (black screen on startup and nothing more).

I think it of a stupid idea a process updated BIOS with Windows application and is the first time that I use this 'system' update and for sure the last!

Now, back to my problem... the laptop is out of warranty, so I need to find a solution to put the laptop working again.

My simple question is... What is the best way/solution? I can reflash the BIOS again? How? Can I replace the BIOS physically? How?

In advance, thank you for your help.

    Best regards

Well, the problem is solved... I've created a Frankenstein laptop

Accidentally, a user has dropped a laptop Thinkpad X 61 and broke the screen, so I remove the mainboard that laptop and assemble in the chassis of the X 60 BIOS problem. The fingerprint do not work, but the laptop is functional.

I think that Lenovo equipment are good machines, must, they must improve this point of flashing the BIOS. It's ridiculous to put a good laptop off service, only a bad update without fault of the user.

Thank you guys for your answers!

  • Inspiron 5749: BIOS update fails with the error 'Dell id does not match ".

    Hello

I'm trying to update the BIOS of the Laptop Inspiron 5749. I downloaded the update file 3443A 07. EXE from Dell support website, where the update is supposed to be compatible with my system:

    -Dell Inspiron 3443/3543/5749 system BIOS;

    -Version A07.

-Pull out the date 18 November 2015.

I tried to install the update by using the utility to update the BIOS available in the start menu (after pressing F12). The update failed with the error message "Dell id does not match" or similar.

Running the update of the session Windows don't seem to have any effect either.

It seems that the update is only compatible with Inspiron 3443.

Where can I get the update of the correct BIOS for my laptop? Any help is appreciated.

The problem has been resolved by a motherboard replacement. Thank you.

I think you should wait 60 days for version 10 of Windows to see if it can solve the problem.  10 Windows will automatically make sure you have good drivers (course to 99%).

It is possible that he is in fact a BIOS problem.  But all the advice I would give risk possible to break your computer permanently, and I don't want to do that because there's a pretty good computer (with the exception of windows xp).

I'm guessing Windows 10 retail copy will be cheap enough to buy.  I can't say with certainty that your computer will be in charge of windows 10, but I think it will be.

Also, even if it has nothing to do with your current number, you can not simply exchange cpu like this safely without applying new thermal paste.  There are a few videos on youtube from the manufacturers of motherboards that show you how to clean the old thermal paste and apply new thermal paste.  Make sure that the videos that you watch come from a motherboard manufacturer, not some Joe Blow.

And then if Windows 10 doesn't fix it, you have to decide at that point, if you want to take the risk of bricking messing with the BIOS of your computer permanently.

I'm sure you know that Windows XP is not supported and that there is a security risk.

    Good luck!

Edit: Here's an alternative to Windows XP that works well for older computers of XP.

  • Aspire 5742G BIOS update

Hello guys. as the title know I have Aspire 5742 G and on the download section of the site, I see theres a BIOS update. Now I have the old aspire 5315 and when I tried to update my bios on it I almost he bricked. So my question is: is it safe for update my BIOS on the 5742 G and going to improve my performance of the laptop. Right now, I feel the audio offset at random times (sometimes when I listen to music or watch film of any browser and sometimes using office applications online to watch movies offline). Also when I shift + del too fast (if I close the combination within 2-3 seconds) it does not read my shift (it shows the msg to send files to don't bin not permanently remove). Tried updates of windows, restore points, driver updates, driver rollback, windows cleaning install (more than 10 times), different windows (from windows 7, windows 8 and even I tried Ubuntu). Went to assosiated local tech with Acer and they said that they are unable to find the cause of the problem. So as a last resort im concidering to BIOS update

I would say that you can create a USB bootable flash BACK drive with Rufus:

    http://Rufus.AKEO.IE/?locale=en_US

Plug in your USB key, start Rufus and then set it as on the screenshot (FAT32 or FAT doesn't matter)

Once done, copy the contents of the BIOS BACK folder at the root of the USB flash drive.

Turn off your laptop, start by pressing F12 and select UFD as a boot device, once in the DOS environment type

    Update.bat

Follow the instructions on the screen.

Please make sure your battery is charged to 100% and your charger is plugged.
