Assessment vCOps 5.8.1 with vCenter 5.1

Hello

I have deployed vCOps TIME in an environment with vCenter 5.1 and it came out very well, but only the version of the Foundation. Is somehow related to the fact that the vCenter is version 5.1? I would like to evaluate it before moving on to version 5.5.

Thank you

Zoran

Hello

You have the (Standard, Enterprise or advanced) evaluation license for vCOps?
If so, you save the vCOps Manager to vCenter and assign the license?

Try to reload/restart the vCOps to refresh the license as described in the release notes here: VMware vCenter Operations Manager 5.8.1 Release Notes

After the application of the license, you can wait for the license manager cache to update automatically, which is present in every twenty minutes.

For immediate license update, click on the reload button in the status tab of the Administration Portal to update the Operations Manager of vCenter license.

If you do not assign the license, try to assign the license first.

Operations Manager vCenter is allowed as an asset for the vCenter Server that it monitors.

You must register operations with a Server vCenter vCenter before assigning the 5.8.1 license.

To register for vCenter Operations Manager with a vCenter Server, open the vCenter operations Manager Administration Portal and follow the procedure described in configuration and VMware vCenter Operations Manager Deployment Guide.

There is also a knockout to control the license cache: VMware KB: vCenter license 5.x Operations Manager State fails to update after you apply the license

  • Connect with vCenter Orchestrator 7

Can not find, where I can connect the camera orchestrator 7.0 can connect to the Server vcenter. There is no documentation available for this version

can anyone help? Thank you very much

Connect vRO 7 to vCenter, you can use a workflow now, check under \Library\vCenter\Configuration

    - Add an instance of vCenter Server <--> this workflow implements vRO to allow vRO to things with vCenter.

    - Registry vCenter Orchestrator as a vCenter Server extension <-> this workflow shows vCenter Orchestrator is available to run workflows. It is important for vSphere integration Web Client for Orchestrator. Note: vRO and vCenter MUST use the same source SSO and the user logged on to the Web Client vSphere must be a member of the Administrators group of the vRO you specified for Orchestrator.

  • VSphere 6.0 backward compatible with vCenter 5.5 replication is?

At one point, the vSphere replication 6.0 compatibility matrix said that it is compatible with vCenter 5.5.  I think it was around mid-March.  Now, he seems to have changed and says vSphere 6.0 replication is only compatible with vCenter 6.0.  Is this true?  Are there plans to make vSphere replication 6.0 backward compatible with vCenter 5.5?

    Bill,

A decision was made not to support backward compatibility between replication 6.0 vSphere and vCenter Server 5.5 going forward.  This is the result extended and careful considerations affecting the provision of quality and consistent user experience for our customers using vSphere 6.0 replication.

Thus, vSphere 6.0 replication is officially supported with vCenter Server 6.0 only (SSO 6.0, 6.0 PC, Web Client 6.0).  This resulted therefore in the interoperability of public VMware product matrix.

  • Cannot save the vCO with vCenter WebClient

    Hi all

I have a strange situation that I hope you can help me with.

Basically, I am fighting to save the vCO with vCenter WebClient device, when I try to add in the web interface of vCenter, the test connection fails.

The vCO device has been configured to use AD authentication and the vCenter plugin seems to be set up correctly. In fact, I can run all workflows from it interact successfully with the vCenter.

I followed the troubleshooting steps in similar positions, but none of them have worked:

Re: impossible to integrate vcenter orchestrator with WebClient

Re: Can't save orchestrator in vsphere client of web (v5.5)

I can see the extension of vCO through the https://vcenter1.xxxxx.com/mob . I have also not saved and put it back with the same result.

I also tried with different versions of the device to vCO (5.0, 5.5.1 5.5.2...) but no joy with any of them.

I want to emphasize that I used a device registered with vCenter, vCO which has been deleted. After checking the mob site, I discovered that the extension pointing to this previous vCO was still in place, so I recorded. But the issue has not been resolved.

    vCenter 5.5.0 build 1750785

    vCO 5.5.2 build 1951762

    Any other ideas?

    Any help would be appreciated.

In order to use the vCO within customer web vSphere vCO must use SSO authentication and SSO used must match the one used by web vSphere client.

What happens is this user log in vSphere client and web based on as user token credentials is generated.

This token is presented to the vCO and vCO is not able to check (because in LDAP mode or using different SSO server or...) vCO rejects the request.

  • ESXi Update 2 work with vCenter 5.1 5.1 update 1?

We had some communication problems this past weekend, and our team Windows have not upgraded vCenter 5.1 update 1 to 2 of the update. While my team upgraded from some of our guests GA 5.1 ESXI Update 2 to fix some bugs. The hosts are still in maintenance mode.

We heard vCenter must always be a newer version than the hosts. Yet, the VMware compatibility matrix says may manage ESXi 5.1 5.1 vCenter update 1 update 2.

We use the DRS, HA and 1 FT vm. We distributed switch and switches Standard.

We will have problems? Which statement is accurate. vCenter must always be a newer version or the matrix?

    Hi Rutager,

You can manage the host with vCenter 5.1 U1 U2 5.1 ESXi no impact on Production or the DRS HA nothing. Please find the screenshot for your reference

This shows vCenter version 5.1 U1 can support up to 5.1 U2 ESXi host.

off experience only question we face is that the Update Manager will not be able to download patches beyond the U1 5.1 patches a few shots in accordance with baseline

Note: 5.1 U1 and U2 each thing will be same agent FDM. no change in architecture HA

  • unit of replication vSphere does not fit with vCenter

unit of replication vSphere does not fit with vCenter (I don't see vsphere tab replication, configuration of the replication of vSphere even not when right click on a particular virtual machine.)

Only warning I received during the process of deployment has been warning that it will bind with vCenter vService Extension.

I registered in vCenter, even restarted vCenter, still nothing...

Another weird symptom, it's that when I browse the web client vCenter Server Extensions - may not load at all (a circle going round in circles without effect what so ever)-same thing when I try to navigate vApps...

I tried to cancel registration of vRA vCenter from configuration vRA website, but he told me "Management Extension error: org.apache.http.NoHttpResponseException: the target server has not responded'.»»

Also the 'VRM service is stopped,' I can read on the bottom of the Setup page (leave it only result in a temporary 'on the road' and 'arrested' status).

This unit of replication vSphere vSphere Client watch is present (with dependency: Extension Installation vCenter) in vService Manager in vCenter Solutions Manager tab.

  • How to separate vShield Manager with vCenter

People, we have installed vShield manager. Before you configure devices such as EDGE or APP, we decided to go for some change major grace to which we would like to uninstall the vShield Manager. I just wanted to know how we can separate vShield Manager with vCenter or simply if I delete device it will be deleted?

    Please help.

    Thank you and best regards.

    Hari.

    No,

VShield manager is a device managed by plug-in.

If you previously uninstall component vshield vshield link manager, you can remove the device and then remove the plug in. (like other component like Vmware Data recovery,...)

  • Weird error with vCenter Server 5.1 plugin

    Hello

I installed orchestrator device 5.1 with vCenter plugin. Everything is green and seems well configured.

I am able to connect with the vCenter client and access all workflows of my!

But when I access parts of plugin and wants to explore the vCenter Server, orchestrator returns me this error:

I don't understand why. The user that I configured in the configuration of the plugin vCenter is an administrator and has all privileges...

    You have an idea?

    Thanks for your help.

    Concerning

    Hello!

Are you sure the user that you have configured to connect to vCenter has the appropriate permissions to this level?

Even for an administrator at the level of the root in vCenter you can remove/override the lower-level permissions.

    Using SSO?

And: What authentication policy for the vCenter Plugin have you configured?

With a ' user' logs also the user connect to vSphere WebClient / vCO must have the appropriate permissions.

You can try to reconfigure the vCO to use a "shared session", then for all operations of the user you set up (hopefully with administrative permissions in vCenter) is used for all operations.

    See you soon,.

  • How to install 5.1 VSA with vCenter virtual?

    Hi all

The organization I work for is planning to install a cluster VSA 2 server in a remote site (ESXi 5.1, 5.1 VSA). To reduce costs, they want to have a virtual vCenter on the cluster. I guess that the virtual vCenter also runs the VSA cluster service.

How the hell can I install this? So far, I have:

-built 2 5.1 with 1 local datastore ESXi servers each

-built a vCenter 5.1 on the ESXi server and installed the Manager of VSA on it (which includes the cluster service)

-joined the two servers ESXi, vCenter inside a data center

Have a running VM (the vCenter) forced me down the road of installation "Brownfield". Very well... I created 2 vswitches and groups of ports and launched the installation wizard. Everything in the wizard seemed ok and he started to install. He has done many things (clearly, it's a very clever installation program) and after some time he put the host without vCenter in maintenance mode. I watched with my eyebrows getting higher and higher... probably soon he would put the host with vCenter in maintenance mode, what magic he would do to manage loses its vCenter (and the cluster service)? No of course, and it has failed with an error message "cannot create the cluster VSA: Add Cluster HA hosts failed.

There is a lot I don't understand about a virtual vCenter on a VSA cluster out of the way to install it.

The vCenter may be on the VSA data store? The install doc does not, it is said "vCenter Server can run locally on a host in the cluster VSA ESXi." vCenter Server can also run remotely and manage multiple VSA clusters. "

But if it's on a local data store, how to manage servers wearing down for maintenance, updates etc? And that does not turn the host it is running in a single point of failure, if it fails the cluster breaks down? The point of the entire cluster is to avoid this.

Am I missing something? I would be grateful if anyone can clear this up, and if he's not going to be an option, can anyone recommend a small iscsi SAN or NAS? It is perhaps less than a 3rd Server vCenter, the VSA cost plus the cost of the internal hard drives in 2 guests. In the remote site, currently, there are only a few physical servers, I don't really have the possibility of the vCenter relying on another host and then moving to the VSA cluster that was an option I read on a forum. Don't really want than wan connects either.

    Thank you

    Matt

The VCS must be outside the cluster.  It does not need to be on a server, it can run on windows or Linux systems class office.  Small footprint PCs are available for ~ $ 200.  It has to be in the same subnet as the cluster nodes.  If the VCS was done in a cluster node, you actually lose the tiebreaker vote and if the node hosting the VCS were to fail, you would lose the quorum of the cluster.

VC running within the cluster will work, but it is complicated on a cluster 2 knots because you may lose the ability to manage the cluster if the node hosting the Victoria Cross were to fail.  You want to have the DB Backup VC and a strategy to recover.

I had the same problem with the certificate has expired. VMware has made a new kb article:

    http://KB.VMware.com/kb/2035413

This vcsso file is only there if you do not click ok on the error window. but you do it anyway. Look under the VirtualCenter\SSL of C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware and see if the rui certificate has expired. mine did and after I removed all the files in there and restart the installation, everything went well, and the new certificate is valid 10 years ;-)

hope it does not help anyone.

  • TrendMicro Deep Security 8 with vCenter 4.1 / ESX4.1?

For reasons that we will continue to use the vCenter 4.1 / ESX(I) 4.1 environment for a while.

    My questions are:

    1. Can I use TrendMicro Deep Security 8 SP1 with vSphere 4.1, or what I have to use Deep Security 7.5? I noticed that I can use vShiled 5.0 with vSphere 4.1 (http://esupport.trendmicro.com/solution/en-us/1060131.aspx)
    2. If deep 8 SP1 Security is not possible and we must use Deep Security 7.5, can I manage and monitor physical systems with the Agent of trend in the same Deep Security Manager that I use for my virtual machines (agentless)?
    3. What features will be we lack using deep security 7.5 / vSphere 4.1 compared to Deep Security 8 / vSphere 5?

You can use Deep Security 8 with vCenter/ESx 4.1, but you must use vShield 5

  • VSphere client 5 cohabiting with VCenter 4.1

Hi all.  I have an environment vSphere with VCenter Server 4.  I now have an ESXi 5 autonomous (free version, no VCenter) host that I need to set up a client.  I want to be able to do is to install and run the client VSphere 5 on the same workstation where the client VSphere 4.1 is now installed and running, but I don't want to interfere with my existing environment.  I have never tried to run two different versions of the VSphere client on a single machine.  I installed the v.5.0 customer but I don't know how to start.  When I run the client normally, he opens the client 4.1 original. I tried to do a little research in the forums and documentation, but I can't find anything that specifically addresses this problem.

I guess that there is probably some kind of command line that I could use to do what I want. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

having multiple clients is perfectly acceptable and taken in charge.  Based on the environment connect you to the Launcher will 'launch' the correct client.

Clients may seem alike, but when you log in your environment, you will see that they are build different levels (help - on VMware vSphere)

    Hello

ESX/ESXi 4.1 works with vCenter 4.0? My understanding is that ESX4.0 works with vCenter 4.1 or higher. Thank you!

You need to have your vCenter server during the highest broadcast. It is possible to vCenter 4.1 to manage hosts 4.0 and 3.5. It is not possible for vCenter 4.0 to manage guests 4.1.
