Assignment of membership to a VLAN port SMB GUI

Hello

I have difficulties assigning VLANS to a port in the Small Business GUI.

As you can see below, I created 124 VLAN.

Then I want to assign VLANS to a trunk on port 36, but I am not given the choice.

Can someone explain how to allow some VLAN on a trunk? How can I get VLAN to appear in VLAN "select it? Box?

Thank you

Conor-

Hello

This seems to be a browser problem or a firmware issue or both.

Of after the screenshots, you should have VLAN populating the menu join VLANS.

Try to use IE with active display compatibility and see if it works.

Also, check your firmware, here's a link to the download page:

https://software.Cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=283771828&SOFTWAR...

If you are not on the last go and update, don't forget that if you run not bootcode 1.3.5 then you will need to upgrade the startup code also.

Please let us know if this helped.

  • Multicast flooding all the VLAN Ports

I have three streaming servers.  We have an affair rising gigabit and the other two 100Mbps devices.  Gigabit streaming chassis produced ~ 230Mbps video stream. The other two 100 Mbps devices generate on 50Mbps each.  All water courses are intended to let the N1548 switch via a 10GE interface.  It works, but video streams multicast are also fed to all other ports on the same VLAN.  For this reason, + 200 Mbps gigabit traffic unit is saturating the other two aircraft video 100Mbps of FastEthernet NIC.  I tried to put all the ports in a single protected switchport group, but this did not seem to prevent floods multicast to peer between ports assigned to the same protection group number.  Is there a way to prevent this multicast traffic to broadcast to all ports in the same VLAN, specifically servers independent multicast group IP multicast?  I understand that protected switchport may provide unicast and broadcast on protection and not multicast.

  • VLAN Port groups

    Hello

I have more than an esxi host 5, separated by a physical network, I want to configure a VLAN on each host, suppose I want to use three groups of ports each a unique ID vlan on a vSwitch on one of the hosts, I create a port groups and give them an ID vlan. If the connection between the physical NETWORK adapter on the host and the external switch have a specific configuration on the side of the network adapter or on the physical to Miss? because I read about it on many cases on the internet everyone talking about something different.

    Please help me

    areeb1988 wrote:

But if all the hosts on the same physical switch, can I use trunk connection?

Yes, it does not matter. Note, however, that the "trunk" is what Cisco calls a switchports that sends / accepts frames with tagging VLAN. If you switch to other suppliers 'trunk' name may not be what you must configure.

  • The connectivity to the groups test VLAN / Port

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone has a soloution to my problem, to cut a long story short, I want something that could check the connectivity to each VLAN each ESX host.

I got a 24 host, cluster VMware ESX based on IBM LS42 servers blades through the 5 grids and 9 chassis and these are all interconnected by cisco switches.

The problem I have is the network suffers sometimes failures that mean chassis or rack switches have problems with some of VLAN.

At the moment im migrate a virtual machine connected to each vlan between each host / chassis to ensure that he can talk to the gateway by default on this VLAN.

Is there a way to make a little less manually? IM willing to put the time into something scripts but I'm not sure how best to approach it (or if there is something there already?)

I just need DG of each VLAN ping each host... ideas?

    Thank you!

    Hello

What kjb007 suggests is doable, but will increase the monitoring you need to as mode conducive promiscuity in a vSwitch is contrary to all the security standards, benchmarks and guides.

If you need test the connectivity of the virtual machines to the outside world, why not just set up a virtual computer on 4095 port which contains an 802. 1 q and let just ping the network driver on each VLAN. Maybe just for another virtual machine on a different host. If ping works, you have network connectivity. Note that you would need this for every vSwitch. This report via email/pager if something is wrong. Is no longer, it will take an adapter ethernet to promiscuous mode. You can also use the same approach to ping for the Service Console network.

The virtual machine, put you on portgroup 4095 must be able to manage 802. 1 q and route to these VLANS properly.

  • How to add a VLAN to trunk on Cisco SF200-24 port

    Hi all

I have question want to ask:

I have Cisco switch SF200-24, I want to Setup VLAN as below:

    1 to 10 of Harbour = Vlan 100

    11 to 21 Harbour = Vlan 200

    22-24 Harbour = Vlan 300

    Port GE1 = Trunking (primary)

    Port GE2 = Trunking (secondary)

How to add all the VLAN 100, 200, 300 go through primary and secondary circuits?

What port should I connect to management switch?

    Thank you

    > How to add every VLAN 100, 200, 300 go through primary and secondary circuits?

first set the ports as trunks via the "VLAN management'-> 'Settings of the Interface' - click on the corresponding port, click on the button"Edit"and select"Trunk"in the list.

Once these (GE1 and GE2) ports as trunks, you can now assign all the VLANS you want through "Management of VLAN"-> "a Port VLAN membership." Select the first port (GE1), click on "join the VLAN" and select VLAN all desired from the list on the left and put them in the list on the right.

    and you're done.

    > Which port I can connect to management switch?

the default management IP switch is part of the default VLAN1. If you want to keep access to the switch, assign "VLAN1" to one of the ports of access, or change management VLAN number other than 1 - but in this case remember to apply the correct IP settings in order to satisfy the subnet assigned to the new VIRTUAL LAN.

  • Assignment of VLANS by MAC address on a 6248

    Hello

We have a mixture of 5548 and 6248 switch batteries, all updated to the latest fw, grouped on a 8024f.

We add 560 Polycom phones to our network and want to assign phones to the voice VLAN and use the internal switch on the phone to the computer workstation.

The 5548 have the handy table YES, the:

    VLAN voice Yes-table add 00907 Polycom/Veritel_phone___

It works a treat and the assignment of VLANS for phone and PC works beautifully on the 5548.

However, the 6248 legacy does not have this feature.

Am I right assuming that we cannot assign addresses MAC Polycom-issued to one VLAN specific on switches 62XX as 55XX switches on? We are left with assigning simply labeled the voice VLAN? I'm afraid non-voix tag traffic for some applications will be treated badly as voice.

What is the best way to do it? Here are the General config we will stop for the 6248:

    Configure
    database of VLAN
    VLAN 10 100

    interface vlan 10
    name "VoIP."
    output

    interface vlan 100
    name 'data network '.
    Routing
    IP 10.1.10.1 255.255.255.0
    output

Example config for a switchport with Polycom and PC phone
    !
    interface ethernet 1/g1
    switchport mode general
    switchport General pvid 100
No switchport acceptable-framework-type general tag only
VLAN allowed switchport General add 100
switchport general allowed vlan add 10 tag
switchport vlan allowed General remove 1
    output
    !

The 6248 uses a Broadcom firmware and the 5548 uses a Marvell firmware, that's why we see the differences in the characteristics. The 6248 has no YES table as the 5548. Here is the basic configuration of VLAN voice on the 6248.

    1.

To start creating a VLAN voice, create it first VLAN database mode for VLAN.

    Console # console (config) # vlan database console(config-vlan) # vlan 2 console (config - vlan) #exit console (config) #.

    2.

Then, globally enable the Vlan voice.

    Console (config) # vlan VoIP

    3.

In the configuration of interface for the desired port mode, assign it VLAN to the port using general mode. Then, assign it VLAN voice on the port with the command vlan vlan id #.

Console (config) # interface console item in gi1/0/10 # switchport general console mode # vlan 2 voice

There is also this white page that goes over the process.

    www.Dell.com/.../pwcnt_voice_VLAN_support.pdf

A workstation sends no marked traffic, and will be placed on the general mode port PVID. In this case, it seems that your PVID is VLAN 100, therefore all workstation traffic will go to this VLAN. I'm not aware of a situation where the traffic of the workstation would be confused with traffic voice and placed on the VLAN incorrect, you have a specific situation / application where you think this can happen? I can do some research on this scenario to help alleviate any concerns.

    Thank you

  • Uplink port VLAN

    Hello:

    I'm lost

I don't know how to set up a VLAN and assign it to a vNIC

But I can't found how to link the uplink port to the VLAN in the UCS Manager

    Can someone help me please

    Thanks in advance

    Al

    Al,

In the end-host mode for ethernet, when you set vlan in the UCSM the vlan is automatically assigning / configured on all uplink and port of the server.

This is a chapter of the Guide to config:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/unified_computing/UCS/SW/GUI/config/Guide/2.0/UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_0_chapter15.html

However, since version 2.0, there is a feature in which you can control or confiure different VLAN on different uplink ports. This feature is characteristic L2-disjoint and here is a URL to configure:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/unified_computing/UCS/SW/GUI/config/Guide/2.0/UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_0_chapter21.html

    I hope this helps!

  • Dynamic assignment of VLANS / SSID using the IAS 4402/MS

    Greetings,

In short, we have a WLC4402 (50 AP license) and about 30 1252 s towers in place. At the moment we have three VLANS / SSID in place - one for admin, to teachers and students. The WLC uses a server for MS Windows 2003 running IAS for PEAP authentication. Windows XP, the SSID clients entered manually based on "prior designation" 'type' laptop (admin, teacher or student).

It works very well. However more frequently our users were 'sharing' portable computers so a student can need to use his laptop computer and vice versa. In short, we would like to use the dynamic assignment of VLANS / SSID as well as if a student has the teacher, 'students' laptop VLAN / SSID would receive them when connect (and apply the appropriate ACL, QoS policies, etc.)

We have found the documents on how to do that with a CBS, but is there something available for this configuration with a MS IAS server.

All entry information would be greatly appreciated.

    Joe

The installer works fine with the Server IAS Ms. You must set the options for RADIUS (3 of them) which are documented in the ACS similar article of the same ilk. You can have one SSID, using RADIUS authentication and have the Active Directory to determine the membership to a vlan based on the group.

    The RADIUS attribute parameters are

    Tunnel-Type = Vlan

    Tunnel-Pvt-Group-ID = vlanid

    Tunnel-Medium-Type = 802

    I also like to set

    Ignore-User-Dialin-Properties = True

You must create some policies in IAS to match your windows groups and set the id vlan correct. A separate policy of IAS by vlan.

Set the attributes RADIUS by political IAS and ad group or however you plan on the determination of the membership.

If you want to use RADIUS for administration, you must also define a separate policy that defines the RADIUS of the Service Type administrative = attribute

  • Assign the Vlan of a vnic

    Hi all

I'm working on it for about 2 years in a hospital, I have most of the virtualized servers.

So two years ago, I created a server of access point for patients, running solid rock. But for precautions I virtualized vmware, machine machine have two network cards and the "output" nic is on a different IP range and Vlan that I created only for the hotspot. What can I do to assign the ID of the vlan hotspot in my eCard network of 'exit' on the virtualized machine hotspot?

IM Portuguese, so my first language not English hope, you guys can understand.

    Thanks in advance,

    Kind regards

    You have several ways to allow multiple VLANS works on ESXi\;

Method 1: Configure the interface port on the side of physical switch ' trunk/tag' mode and on vSwitch create several groups of ports and assign a VLAN to each group of ports and when the interfaces are added virtual network in VM, bind each virtual network interface to the appropriate port group.

Method 2: If you have several network interfaces physical on vSphere, ESXi, configure each interface on a physical switch port to VLAN appropriate and create a vSwitch (and a group of ports) for each VLAN and adding VM virtual network interfaces, bind each virtual network interface to the appropriate port group.

Method 1 is recommended, as it will allow you add several VLANS you need without needing additional physical network interfaces.

  • Assignment of a USB port to a COM Port.

I am running Windows XP Professional I have software that uses COM ports in the settings.  You can use my USB devices.  My computer only has USB ports. How can I redirect say COM 5 to a USB port or a device?  Can I connect a USB device to a specific COM port?  I know that if I use a USB series adapter it gives me a virtual com port is it possible to assign USB to a virtual com port without the adapter?

As I pointed to a poster earlier in this thread, there is no way to make a USB port to simulate a COM port in the software.  Necessary pins simply do not exist.  You need a USB adaptor to series which is located practically in the world of computers and their accessories are sold.

It's my bet in the vswitch esxi

They are connected to the port 27 - I had to set the general. As soon as I switch to trunk - no traffic is passed more on the switch to my other VLAN ports (access mode).

VLAN ID 2 works, but the machine on the VLAN ID 1 is not seeing something.

Here's something maybe for you help:

    KB.VMware.com/.../Search.do

Please guide me to the light!

On the side of the switch: s ' ensure that the port is set in Trunk mode.
-Add all the VLANS and verify that they are on T for the tag.
-Ensure that no VLAN native only is used.

Server side, I would go back through the steps described here: http://bit.ly/2bpAwuZ
This will help ensure that the vSwitch is correctly configured for VLANs.
