Uplink port VLAN

Hello:

I'm lost

I know not if you have for example two uplink ports that belong to the same vlan, and two or more NICs for asociated to this VLAN, pinning happen dynamically

I don't know how to set up a VLAN and assign it to a vNIC

But I can't found how to link the uplink port to the VLAN in the UCS Manager

Can someone help me please

Thanks in advance

Al

Al,

In the end-host mode for ethernet, when you set vlan in the UCSM the vlan is automatically assigning / configured on all uplink and port of the server.

This is a chapter of the Guide to config:

http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/unified_computing/UCS/SW/GUI/config/Guide/2.0/UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_0_chapter15.html

However, since version 2.0, there is a feature in which you can control or confiure different VLAN on different uplink ports. This feature is characteristic L2-disjoint and here is a URL to configure:

http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/unified_computing/UCS/SW/GUI/config/Guide/2.0/UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_0_chapter21.html

I hope this helps!

  • Ports & VLANS

Hey all - serious brain issue today.

I have a core switch with a port set to VLAN 10 & 20 tag traffic.

In this core switch port, I have a GS748T, where I'm the odd ports # be vlan 20 & ports even # to vlan 10.

    Objective:
I have a DHCP server, which serves the two VLAN - so I was hoping that plug into one line, withdrew a DHCP server IP address, but not luck.

I've been playing with the PVID & VLAN settings on the ports, but impossible to find the right combo. What is the setting for the port of uplink on 748?

    Thoughts? Help?

  • Broadcast/multicast designated uplink port

    Hi all

If I have a chassis with two modules 2208IO and FI6248XPs,

I'm pinning each server, on each uplink.

I place an uplink designated B/m on the port of FI6248 1, this means only the Server Blade 1 can receive traffic B/M?

As far as I know, if I want to access a server I need to know what is the ARP and MAC address is a broadcast traffic.

So how the remote does find out local server MAC address, like Blade 2,3,4... ?

    Thank you

    Of Hele

    Hello

UCSM 1.4 and earlier, we had NOT the possibility to implement a leaking layer 2, so he used to work the way you're so the recommendation then was to swtich to end host (EHM) to mode switching Mode, however, now with 2.0 and 2.1, we can implement disjoint Layer 2.

    {Now is NOT recommended to use the switch mode, EHM in new versions has all the features you need to not lose the features available here}

It's the way it works from 2.0 and newer:

In this way, you can have an uplink by VLAN designated as receiver for B/M.

Check this, it may help you understand how it works and how to get around the traffic:

  • Half of the blades fell when creating a new channel of uplink port?

I have a pair of 6248UP fiber interconnection (A and B) with blade servers connected. The switch upstream is Nexus7k. Fabric A and B each right has now a channel of uplink port to the Nexus switch upstream. I add a new Nexus switch to connect to the interconnection of fiber. The plan is to have uplink some VIRTUAL networks for Nexus one pass and uplink some VIRTUAL to the second Nexus switch networks.

After that I configured the new Nexus switch with a channel port (only allowing some VIRTUAL networks) and corresponding port created on fabric channel A and B, new ports-channels have increased. However, half of the blade servers were down after that. What could be the reasons for this problem? Is it because half of the blades have been pinned dynamically on the new channel port, but the new port-channel side Nexus allow only some VIRTUAL networks?

Is there a way to configure the Channel ports on fiber to interconnect with only the trunk through some VIRTUAL networks? for traffic from the server would not be sent to the port-channel where VLAN server is not allowed?

    Thank you

In general, all NICs for/vhba of a fabric are declining, if all uplinks of this fabric are declining.

It's not clear to me, what you're trying to achieve?

If you create a global VLAN (for the two fabrics), this vlan is automatically inserted in all dependent North trunk links, unless you configure a leaking installation

Create a new vlan on UCS requires of course also this vlan is created on the switch connection and vpc by default allows all the VLANS. Could it be, that the vlan not appeared on the switch and was therefore not upward on the trunk?

Please let me know if I can connect EQL 6110 X (10 G SFP +) storage to ports 10 G SFP + PC 6224 for iSCSI to my servers on a local network connectivity that is 1 G.

Correct, do not use the uplink ports for Gigabit Ethernet switch for 10GbE tables.    It can connect, but performance and stability will most likely suffer.   So has been the experience of other customers who have tried to do.

  • Limit the number of Port VLAN UCS

    Hi, Cisco:

Is it possible to INCREASE the limit of the number of Port VLAN of 6000 by FInterconnect 1.4(2b) running?

Imagine I have 4 and selected VLAN 10 vNIC by Profile Service and 2 vHBA.

So in this case, how many local network VIRTUAL ports will be used? It's 60 or 40? Assuming that it is 60, he the man I CAN ONLY HAVE 100 Service profiles?

I was wondering WHY is the VLAN Port count limit so low? What about the other fabric and HOW it contributes to the limit of the number of Port VLAN?

    Please notify.

Really appreciate it as we roll and unroll UCS mass.

    Uplink Ports Fibre Channel

Manage ports Uplink Fiber Channel FCoE traffic between the interconnection of fabric and the next layer of the

SAN storage network. All FCoE network-related traffic is pinned to one of these ports.

By default, the Fibre Channel ports are uplink. However, you can configure them to work as Fibre Channel

storage ports. This is useful in cases where a Cisco UCS requires a connection to a DAS storage

    Device (DAS).

My question is, how the FC Port could handle FCoE traffic? My understanding was that FCoE will be lifted and Enthernet connection only.

Expected behavior.  By default, if there is no uplinks online & fwd, then all links South (Server binds and the ports of the device) will be used also to the bottom.

See the explanation of Abi here for more information how to change this behavior.

  • 4 FC by FI uplink ports. But what a single port to send the addresses of WWPN vHBA?

I have four portis configures as uplink FC by FI and FI woking in end host mode.

I have 24 blades using two vHBA. vHBA0 and vHBA1.

24 address WWPN are saved on the uplink of SAN of only 1 FC uplink.

Same case in the other Brocade.

That is something we don't want.

All FC uplink ports must be used.

We have borcade. Advised not to use the port channel.

I can manually create groups of pin code and balance the load. But do create a lot of model vHBA and tedious work.

    Other autour work?

    Help, please.

    (1) you can only use Port FC channels connecting to Cisco MDS and Nexus or for FC traffic.

    (2) on each FI, run the following command:

(nxos) # see the npv flogi-table

You should see the WWPN by connecting to the FIs, or you have problems downstream with your configs vHBA.

Make sure that vHBA0 is mapped to FI - A and vHBA1 is mapped to FI - B and the proper vSAN is assigned to the vHBAs. Also ensure that the FC connections are not crossed the FIS for the brocades.

model vHBA allows very simple, consistent deployments.

  • VSAN membership down on the CF mapped uplink port

    Hello

Since I upgrade Cisco UCS Manager, all frame and fabric of interconnections of version 2.2 (1), I have a few minor flaws.

I configure ports 31 and 32 as FC uplink ports and mapped each port to a vsan:

    Port 31 = VSAN 'blue '.

    32 port = "red" VSAN

(I know, it is not common to map two different VSAN to the same fabric, but I have to)

Since the update, I get minor flaws:

31--> FCoE or FC uplink port is broken on 'red' VSAN / membership-down

32--> FCoE or FC uplink port is broken on 'blue' VSAN / membership-down

I have no channels of port FC or FC enabled link mode. Interconnection of fabric is EHM.

    Even in other tissues.

  • Group of VDS uplink port setting

    Hi all

    I'm new to VDS.

I found that I can not change setting of group VDS uplink port image attached and many VDS menu editting is not editable.

I wonder why I can't edit VDS setting. Kindly pls advise.

This is because there is no need to put anything on the uplink.

Uplink port groups are distinctly different from normal port groups. There is absolutely no reason to have these settings on the uplink port groups, because they generate all the executives themselves and traffic simply forwards to the vNIC/vmk interfaces on port groups attached, there is no need to expose a Visual similarity like this again. These parameters and others like safety apply to groups of normal port only.

  • Config port / VLAN on switch MXL

I'm not a network engineer, but I try to set a port to my MXL switch to a VLAN that will route traffic on virtual machines on a local network of calculation.

This is the port Te 0/52 on the back of the MXL and I am running ESXi on servers in my m1000e.  In fact, I have two MXLs in the tissue A of the m1000e configured with VLT via the interfaces of the FourtyGig.  This part has been implemented by people of Dell Tech Services, making the installation.

Here's what looked like the config to start:

    dsa1 #show vlan

    Codes: *-Default VLAN - VLAN, GVRP, R - G remote control Port Mirroring VLAN, P - primary, C - community, I - isolated
    O Openflow
    Q: U - no identified, the T - tag

    o - unidentified OpenFlow, O - OpenFlow tag
    G - GVRP tag, M - Vlan-stack, H - VSN tagged
    i unidentified intern, I - labeled internal, untagged, V v - VLT - VLT tag

    Ports Status Description Q NUM

    U Po41 (Te 0/41-44)
    Te U 0/1-32

    V Po33 (0/33.37 Fo)
    Te T 0/1-32

    V Po33 (0/33.37 Fo)
    Te T 0/1-32
    Te U 0/49-50

And I wanted to add VLAN 1000 to calculate, so I did the following:

    dsa1 #conf

    dsa1 (conf) #interface Te 0/52
    dsa1 (conf-if-you-0/52) #show config
    !
    interface TenGigabitEthernet 0/52

    Description information
    name computer
    no ip address
    Tagged TenGigabitEthernet 0/1-32
    Unmarked TenGigabitEthernet 0/52
    no downtime

    VLAN now looks like:

    dsa1 #show vlan

    Codes: *-Default VLAN - VLAN, GVRP, R - G remote control Port Mirroring VLAN, P - primary, C - community, I - isolated
    O Openflow
    Q: U - no identified, the T - tag

    V Po33 (0/33.37 Fo)
    Te T 0/1-32
    486 active VMGuest T Po41(Te 0/41-44)
    V Po33 (0/33.37 Fo)
    Te T 0/1-32
    Te U 0/49-50
    1000 active Compute T Te 0/1-32
    Te U 0/52

But I wanted to add THAT VLT Po33 tag to the new VLAN because there is in others, not because I really understand what it does.  In my view, it is used for load balancing?  If I label it with the command 'tag Po33' in the config of vlan, out with the status "T" instead of "V".

Here are the details of the VLT:

    dsa1 #show vlt detail
Local LAG Id counterpart LAG Id status Local Peer status Active VLAN
    ------------  -----------  ------------  -----------  -------------
    41 41 UP UP 1, 115, 486

    Domain ID: 100
    Role: secondary
    Primary role: 4096
ICL Link Status: to the top
    Status of heart rate: upward
VLT Peer status: to the top
    The local unit ID: 0
    Version: 6 (4)
    Local system MAC address: f8:b1:56:09:70:b1
MAC address of the remote system: f8:b1:56:09:70:fd
Configured the system MAC address: 00:01:00:01:00:01
Version of the remote system: 6 (4)
    Restore delay timer: 90 seconds
    Delay-restore Abort threshold: 60 seconds
    Routing peer: disabled
By the peer-routing-Timeout timer: 0 seconds
    Multicast peer-routing timeout: 150 seconds

So my questions are, I'm on the right track?  It will do what I want it to do is send traffic on port 0/52 Te which is labeled in ESXi with 1000 VLAN?  Should I worry the VLT marking stuff and if yes, how should I do the VLT marking rather than normal marking?

The connection only 1 port of MXL 1 to a device, this device is considered a switch/host an orphan. A VLT connection will have 1 port each MXL placed in a port channel and connected to a device.

Here is a good article that covers the VLT in use with different Topologies.

And the User Guide is a good source to have as well.

    Hello

is - anyone idea, if possible to use frames only for ports specific it s?

After enable JumboFrames, it will create a problem of common computers network traffic? I intended to create a VIRTUAL LAN to connect to the storage and r.620 (under XenServers).

    * We plan to use this unit to connect a Dell Power Vault MD3200i volumes as iSCSI offering.

    * According to our (ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_powerconnect/powerconnect-5524_User%27s%20Guide_en-us.pdf ) switch mannual: "Activation iSCSI automatically enables Jumbo frames and allows the control of flow on all interfaces.

Allowing the frames on the switch will allow the frames extended on all interfaces. I don't see a way on this option to activate the frames extended on a specific interface or VLAN. Allowing the Jumbo will not create any problem with common computer network traffic. If this switch is connected to another switch, it's a good idea to have some Jumbo frames enabled on the interface of switches connection also.
