Atheros Driver: Important update failed

Satellite A205-S5843

Windows 7 Home Premium, 32-bit operating system

My network connection works. Update of Windows listed and marked the Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter as an important update. The update fails during installation.

Measures taken and error messages:

  1. Windows Update list Atherod a driver update important. The installation failed. "Code 800F0203 Windows Update has encountered an error unknown."
  2. Do you have a reboot. Same mistake.
  3. Execution of the Fix - It http://support/microsoft.com/kb/971058 that resets the Windows Components Wizard.
  4. Delete the Temp folder. Ran scannow.
  5. Turn it back on. Same mistake.
  6. I was able to complete the 2 Optional updates.
  7. Open the Device Manager. Right clicked and selected update driver software. Error message: 'Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter Found. Error during installation. There is no driver selected for the item or a set of device information. »

It can be useful if I could erase the driver update from the list of Windows Update and let it do a clean search.

Any technical assistance or shared experience will be greatly appreciated.

Brummyfan2, I apologize if my previous answer sounded rude. When I type, sometimes, short words carry not correctly my thoughts. You do not give the solution to part of the problem, and I appreciated your advice.

For others who may have the same problem, see https://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100428074233AAz3rhl

Mark the update as masked Atheros. -Open Windows Update, click right on the Atheros updates and select hide.

Part 2 of the above referenced instructions says to delete the files downloaded for updates. I did it; I don't think, however, that it was necessary.

Your operating system is corrupted. To eliminate the problems on your computer, you need to restore factory settings and rebuild your computer system.

A recovery of the system partition contains a copy of the operating system as it was when the computer was purchased new. Using the copy of Vista, you can restore the computer to factory settings. Of course you must back up your data files to an external before restoring support as the process reformats the disk thus clearing all existing files before writing new files.

Please read Chapter 13 (page 33) Manual:
    5738 http://global-download.Acer.com/GDFiles/document/generic%20UG/generic%20UG_Acer_1.0_A_A.zip?acerid=633967123940952836&STEP1=notebook&Step2=aspire&step3=aspire & OS = ALL & LC = en & BC = ACER & SC = EMEA_27

The manual suggests that you have an option to restore the operating system and retain user data that I've not seen in a manual before. It is worth trying because it reduces the work involved but I would again as a precaution, back up your data files on external safety precaution if things go wrong.

  • LOST WIRELESS - BAD PROVIDED BY WINDOWS UPDATE ATHEROS DRIVER UPDATE

I've been having problems for 3 months with my laptop HP with Windows 7 not being not able to see all the networks any longer.

    I HAVE THE ATHEROS DRIVER

    FOUND THE PROBLEM!

HERE'S THE SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME:

-UNINSTALL EVERYTHING and all WINDOWS UPDATES
    -RESTART your computer
-UNINSTALL your WIFI software which you can do via the Device Manager
-WIFI adapter is located under the network adapters
    -Restart your computer
-Allow to Windows to REINSTALL the software for your computer device
    -Go to the Device Manager
    Highlight the WIFI driver
-In the toolbar at the top of the device, under Action Manager, select Properties, and that there should be an option to ROLL BACK to THE PREVIOUS VERSION
THIS RESTORES YOUR DRIVER TO A PREVIOUS VERSION OF THE SOFTWARE *.
    -RESTART your computer

It worked for me and I thought I'd share this find!

AFTER DOING THIS, YOU WILL NEED TO GO BACK AND UPDATE YOUR WINDOWS... THERE IS A CATCH!  READ MORE

    - DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE ATHEROS SUPPLIED BY WINDOWS UPDATE UPDATE!

You'll need display the list for IMPORTANT UPDATES and UNCHECK the ATHEROS DRIVER UPDATE.

I hope this helps someone else!

This has been a huge relief for me to finally have my laptop back up and able to see wireless again!  I was unable to do anything about it during 3 months!

You should not need to uninstall updates. Roll back the previous driver should be all it takes.

  • The TOSHIBA for Bluetooth ACPI driver update failed

    Hi all

I have a P870 running on Windows 7 & until recently BT worked fine, now it doesn't.

When I tried to download the latest version of the driver it says that I have the latest version of the driver.
He also says that the device is functioning properly.

It does not recognize my S4 where before he did.
I now can not get it to pair because he does not see.

When I did the last update of MS that I noticed the results put BT update failed, as shown below.

  • Pavilion g6-2002au: USB driver update failed

I did a periodic update of the system on the laptop drivers.  The last time, I remember it was almost 2 years ago.  And this time I encountered problems.

This topic follows my request on this thread about SafeMode start/restore after a driver update failed:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-boot-and-lockup/booting-safe-mode-on-HP-G6-2002au/m-p/5690028/...

And as I said it I begam making one an update to pinpoint what caused the original problem with the bulk update.  After 7 by an updated driver, I found the (or, at least) a cause of the problem.  The following image, 2 PCI to USB host drivers caused an error message from windows after the update.

There are 6 USB drivers linked to this very old/aged list and clear terms the number of items of equipment installed on the laptop.  See this screen shot of the Device Manager list:

Drivers USB 6 update, I have taken these 2 items to be updated first because 1) they seemed to be the oldest (replacements were dated in 2010), and 2) if I understand technology, these bits connect the processor to host chip and the actual hub bus.

I chose just these 2 PCI-drivers for update (unchecked the selection for all other boxes in the recall list) and proceeded.  When the installation has ended a windows message box reported an error of windows to one of the devices (one, not declared or referenced by a number).  Considering that the originals had worked for years without apparent problems, I started a process of restoration.  It worked, and restored 'very old' pilots work again without any error boxes, while the most recent have not.

This is a screenshot of the restored Details of driver (work), which seem to be the original objects from Microsoft for XP3. Vista and windows 7

Any ideas why this (the driver update failure) happens?

    Davidk10

    @Davidk10

There is no update from HP, the prograns you are using is not supported by HP.
