    * AT & T help pages wrote that the server names had been migrated from pop.att.yahoo.com to inbound.att.net

Bruce asked jumping me in here, because I'm more familiar with Winmail and the database and I wrote WMUtil.  The reason why I wrote this is because there is no easy way to manually compact the database, and WMUtil simply encapsulates the MS utility to make it easier for users.

    Here are a few suggestions:

If you have the WinMail gadget running, get rid of it.

For MSE, go to settings and disable the eml file type analysis.  Which prevents the eml files scanned and deleted, resulting in a database inconsistency that corrupts the database (fixes WMUtil).  If you are unwary enough to open an attachment infecting, MSE will always be in the background to block.

Your problem is caused by one of the two possible, from what I can discern.  The database in Winmail opener could have been damaged, you can run WMUtil (and let him finish.  If you are worried, then do a backup of things, if you do not already have (see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm)).  Then see if the e-mail problem accounts work.

If you get the error, then the other question could apply, that is, there may be a problem message on the server that cannot handle Winmail and generates the error.  In this situation, you will need to identify the problem message and get rid of him.  Since you already have 2 copies of your 20,000 messages that you have in the POP3 Inbox, I suggest that you create a new folder of mail on the server and move messages from the Inbox to the server to it.   Then add another copy of the POP3 account in Winmail and see if it will download the most recent messages.  Who can get rid of the question then.

See if any of this helps.

  • Cannot attach files in any email AOL, yahoo or the company. Also only shows blank page when access yahoo email.

In any web mail program AOL, Yahoo, my companies, you cannot attach files when you compose an email. By the icon/button attach it says "no file selected" (or when you switch on it). This also happens in safe mode. The browser speed is also very slow. Once logged into my yahoo mail, I get a blank page. In the title bar, it says I have x amount of email.

I reinstalled Firefox and for about 60 seconds, it was fast and yahoo opens up very well and I was able to reach yahoo emails and on behalf of my company. After this he returned to its slow and not be attached and yahoo opening a blank page.

I have run spybot and deleted and malicious software threats found them all. I think something infects Firefox. IE and Chrome do not have this problem. Any help would be appreciated as I am at a loss.

antivirus was not a problem since it was not installed. Firewall settings are fine. I just finally solve this problem. SpyHunter was able to detect two of the hijackers that other programs do not have, and this fixes the problem. As I said in the original post I did not suspect that this was the problem. The lesson is to run several malware programs, until you find one that eliminates the problem, if you think that malware as the problem.

  • Why Web sites is permitted to open additional instances of the browser web firefox without my permission? It is one step away from pages Web infect my computer.

During a second instance of Firefox opens without my permission and without any warning.

It appears on the wall announcement. Sometimes it's a regular advertising, and it was sometimes adult.

I'd appreciate it greatly in the next update of firefox something can be installed that brings a pop up that allows you to block it if you choose or make sure there is a checkbox additional security as blocker called blocker of the Forum or something that would block such action that web pages. This security hole is a step away from a Web site that infects a computer with a virus. This seems to be something of a new technique of advertising as I only noticed it happening last week. I took a screenshot of one of these cases. This is an advertisement for Gamemazing.com. I don't see a way to include an attachment otherwise, I will send the picture as well.

Help your navigation software to become safer then Microsoft IE.

Those are pop-ups. They can be sent across the net from a site, you are

I agree with Maurice. Save all your data important and make the clean OS installation using recovery delivered DVDs. After that, you can be sure that the laptop computer is not infected more.
I know that it is radical, but, in my opinion, the best method.

After a clean OS installation make sure you use an application good antivir. I can recommend you to use ANTIVIR - http://www.free-av.de/en/index.html
The application is very good and do not need a lot of resources. It runs in the background and makes updates if necessary. I use it for years and I can truly say that it is the best.

I was going to post a picture of the pop-up window using the pliers, bit for some reason any Grab captures only selection as tiff and this forum does not accept tiff (silly). The Forum of Avast sent me here. I will try to attach a jpeg file soon. In the meantime, any suggestions that I can remove the infection? In the last 3 months, I noticed that whenever I open an attachment that contains the document, it is y no document seen but some gibberish that only a programmer can understand. What's up with that? help please

I hope that you scanned your computer from malicious software and viruses.  It is something very unhealthy to open an attachment and don't know what it is and it is very easy to be infected by such.

Check your system for the infection.

    Then, see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#1

After that, if the attachment after saving, it does not open in the program with which it should, then right-click on the file and go to properties. Change and indicate what program should open it.

  • PC infected with Alureon.DX & Alureon.A, does NOT start

I'm the producer in a small television studio.  We have two editing stations, both XP Pro running.  Yesterday morning, I arrived and the computer screen has been scrambled and generating errors, so I tried to restart.  He briefly flashed the BSOD and I could not initialize since, not even in Safe Mode or last good Configuration known.  I put the PC does not restart in case of error, and it listed the following:

    STOP: 0X0000007B (0XBA4C7524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

Fearing the player had gone wrong, I plugged the drive to a USB box and attached to the other station.  I was able to save most of my important files, but if there is a way to restore the operability without a format I would prefer that.

I had a virus on the disk scan and it detected Win32/Alureon.DX on:

I used the FIXBOOT on the recovery console to try to get at least the restored so boot sector that I could start on the other machine, but it didn't work... I always buy a blue flash.

I've repeatedly tried to eliminate infection Alureon.A of the reader.  MSE tells me that the computer must be restarted, what I do.  When Windows comes back on, the infection reappears immediately.

What can I do OTHERWISE than wipe the disc?

OK, obviously, you missed the part where I mentioned, that the system would not boot AT ALL.  That's why it wouldn't really matter what anti-virus program I used, because I couldn't start the computer in order to USE the antivirus software...

    * facepalm *.

In any case, I got to the existing system and make it work again bypassing the boot sector of a disk boot, then using software from Kaspersky TDSSKiller.  It restored the boot sector and I could update my MSE.

    Original title: spare part

Can't oped attachments, it tells me that there is a virus as an attachment?

    Hi Tony,.

    Thanks for the reply.

Step 1: Start in safe mode with network and then scan your computer with the Microsoft Safety Scanner.

Follow the steps below to start your computer in safe mode with network.

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

I also suggest that you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: the data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means there is a risk of data loss.

Step 2: Analyze and run Windows Defender in offline mode.

Windows Defender offline can help eliminate these hard to find malicious and potentially unwanted programs using definitions that recognize the threats. Definitions are files that provide an encyclopedia of potential software threats. Follow the steps in the link here. Download the appropriate file depending on the version of bits in your computer.

What is Windows Defender in offline mode?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows/what-is-Windows-Defender-offline

  • Try to download an attachment to an e-mail he immediately show up on the list of download as deleted and is not present in the download folder

The problem only started a few days ago. Had no problems before. Comes with a screen saying windows error file not found in the download folder.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for posting your question in the community of Microsoft Windows. I understand that you face problems when downloading an attachment of an e-mail.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I will definitely help you with this.

To help you suggest several steps to solve the problem, I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:

    1. What mail client do you use?

    2. you receive an error code or message?

    3. have you made any recent hardware or exchange of software on your computer before the show?

    4. What is the file format of the attachment?

5 is confined to a particular question or all attachments?

    6. What antivirus software are installed on your computer?

I suggest you to save the file on the desktop.

Also to disable the antivirus software and try to download the attachment.

Please follow the methods and mark the question below:

    Method 1:

You need perform a clean boot to prevent any third party conflicting application from interfering with your computer.

To put the computer in a clean boot State, you must follow the steps in the article mentioned below and check with the question.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: You must follow step 7 of the article mentioned above to recover your computer to a Normal startup after you complete all the steps.

    Method 2:

    Disable the antivirus software:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 3:

Scan your computer by using the Microsoft Security Scanner by clicking Download now to check if there is the infected virus or malware:

    http://www.microsoftsafetyscanner.com/

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
