Add or remove programs will not fill
In Control Panel, click Add/Remove programs. Nothing, just white.
Add/Remove Programs does not - start > run > regsvr32 appwiz.cpl [Enter]
If it works, you are finished. Otherwise:
By Ramesh MVP, one of the most frequent causes for Add/Remove programs being blank is that a recent installation/uninstallation routine may have deleted the contents of the registry key of any 'uninstall' here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
Each subkey stores the display name, UninstallString information related to the program you have installed. Open Regedit.exe and navigate to the above key. Check if the "Uninstall" key is empty (contains no subkeys). In this case, your best best is to restore the system state by using System Restore. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

Add/Remove Programs does not work with some programs in XP
Why add and remove program does NOT work on some programs. These are programs on a computer that was created using a process of the image. Like ghost?
If you have a third party app that will not uninstall, I think I might check the support page for this application and see what they have to say about it.
Some AV products have obtained quite complicated that add/remove programs is not the recommended way to remove them, so some companies have developed their own removal procedures and some have special programs to manage their affairs.
Norton/Symantec has a special page for you:
http://us.Norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docURL=20080416133836EN
I see that just goes through Add/Remove programs too, but there is an option "what happens if it does not work" too (or post in the forums).

All the ' * .exe ' programs will not start by simply clicking on the shortcut icon. I need a right click and select "Run as Administrator" to get the program to run. By clicking on the left, a box opens, which says "Windows cannot open this file: file iexplore.exe (example)". "" It then goes on to ask if I want to use the web or select a program from a list of installed programs. Is there a way to get this back to "normal"?
Hello
If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be harder to detect as
the cause. No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean. It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however, you must also run

HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909 all: sorftware HP installation program will not stop running
I recently uninstalled the software and drivers for my printer as suggested here. I installed the drivers and software the latest complete features of the HP customer service. Now the program will not stop running even after it has completely installed. The disc in the picture will not stop running and the window does not close.
Hey @David146,
Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!
I see that you have some problems with the judgment of some installation of HP software to run on your PC of Windows 10. I can help you with that.
To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done:
- On your PC, press CTRL, ALT and DEL keys at the same time.
- Click Start Task Manager.
- Select the HP software from the list.
- Click end task.
Please let me know the results after following the above. If you are unable to resolve your problem, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

Opening in maximum size program will not work
I was unable to get a program (ok - it's FreeCell) to maximize. I tried this dimensioning of the taskbar using the arrow keys on the keyboard instead of the mouse. He fills the screen from top to bottom, but not more than straight left. It freezes and will not larger size by about a third of the width of the screen/monitor (with a computer 17 "laptop). I went to the properties of the start icon and run selected enlarged (did not work) reduced to a minimum (of work); tried again, but the program will not stretch or size Full. In a small size, you can move the window of the program anywhere on the screen, but it will not maximize from anywhere to full size.
Thanks for the help!
How long you are facing this problem?
I would appreciate if you please perform following steps.
Click Start and then click Run.
Type SFC/scannow. (Please note that there is a space between SFC and/scannow)
Click Ok to start the System File Checker.
Insert the Windows XP installation CD when and if she asks.
It will repair all damaged or corrupt system files.
Please check your problem.
Let me know if you encounter other problems.

Hey Brucefl,
Try to restart in a clean boot to see if this error message is caused by a third-party program/startup process. To do this, follow the steps in this troubleshooting guide:
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" StateIf the restart in a clean boot prevents the problem to appear, take a look at the list of programs and services (do not forget to check her hide all Microsoft services box on the Services tab) tab of msconfig.
