ATTR_TOOLTIP_TEXT

Hello

I have 8.1 Labwindows, is the ATTR_TOOLTIP_TEXT attribute that is available for the picture for version 8.1 command button or is it available for 8.5 and upwards?

Thank you.

Farideh

I used SetCrtlAttribute to use ATTR_TOOLTIP_TEXT, instead I should have used SetCtrlToolTipAtttribute(). And it worked.

Just be relieved that the ToolTips in the editor of the UIR and those that are applied with SetCtrlToolTipAttribute vary

The ToolTip programmatic background yellow and height 17 pixels, while the editor, one has a white background and is 19 pixels in height.

    See this image:

In addition, is installed by program displays more quickly than that defined in the editor.

    Tested up to CVI2013SP1.

.. .to make it a little more explicit...

I suspect you are using ToolTips old programmers (SetCtrlToolTipAttribute) then you probably intend to use the new SetCtrlAttribute (, ATTR_TOOLTIP_TEXT,)

  • bug in ToolTips

I'm really sorry, but I have another problem with ToolTips...

I'll show two samples, codes more result, in the first case, all right, in the second, the balloon trying to be clever and fails miserably: he inserts line breaks without asking and he cuts/fails/swallows text, see below. I checked the tank string using the view variable, the text has been formatted correctly and is finished. Unfortunately, it is not completely.

Indeed, the only difference between the two cases is that (1) there is a long line, path name, which prevents the word "automatic" scarf, undocumented / line break. I have no explanation why part of the text is omitted, may be that there is a default aspect ratio or a maximum of lines? Too bad...

    Hi Wolfgang,.

I was easily able to reproduce the bug (#421593). The problem seems to be related to the tabs. If you replace them with spaces the problem disappears. Of course, this may not be the easiest thing to do, when you use a non-monospaced font in the world. But until there is a difficulty, perhaps this is your only option.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • \t does not 'change the ToolTip strings '.

I don't know if I should call it a bug or missing feature

If I use SetCtrlAttribute (panel_handle, control_id, ATTR_TOOLTIP_TEXT, "blah blah blah blah \t\t"); then the \t is extended to a tab. It's what I expected because \n is extended to a carriage return/line break, too.

However, if I use Editor UI to change the ToolTip string and enter the same "blah blah blah blah \t\t" text, then \t appears as \t.

You know what I'll tell you, it's not very coherent and I would like to see \t work in the user interface editor, too.

    Thank you!

    Hi, Wolfgang

I tested it and really... only the / n escape sequence works.

  • Multiline ToolTip

I can generate a single line ToolTip, but I meet without success, producing a multiline ToolTip.  Any suggestions?

    Hi jrbecker,

In LabWindows/CVI 2012, you can create multi-line ToolTips in one of the following ways:

    • Insert a newline character (\n) in the chain of the ATTR_TOOLTIP_TEXT attribute.
    • Insert a newline character (\n) in the field ToolTip text string in the browser of the attribute.
    • Click the arrow in the ToolTip text of the attribute browser field and select change the text ToolTip multiline.

If there is an update, we can do the documentation that can help make that task easier, please let me know!
