Auditorio IKE mode in a dynamic VPN tunnel
What is the mode of IKE negotiation in a dynamic group of VPN tunnel, i.e. of DefaultL2LGroup? Hand, aggressive or AutoDetect? Thank you!
Ok.
I guess that you are looking for the following command.
card crypto [TAG] [SEQ #] defined phase 1-mode aggressive

VPN tunnel for initiation of the static method to the dynamic side
Hello
In the case of site to site VPN between static IP (ASA) and dynamic IP (Linksys AG241), would it be possible to open the VPN tunnel by the static side? How can I configure it? Could you please advice?
Thank you very much
Nitass
Nitass, I'm sure that you can not start session with ASA, which is on the side of the VPN server.

Using VPN L2L static and dynamic dedicated tunnels
We have an ASA 5510 running 8.0 at our company headquarters. We have remote sites who need to create VPN L2L at the HQ ASA tunnels. Some remote sites have static IP addresses and others have dynamic IP addresses.
I found documentation Cisco L2L static IP VPN tunnels and make them work. I found another Cisco documentation for static IP dynamic L2L VPN tunnels using the tunnel-group "DefaultL2LGroup".
My question is, can you have two types of tunnels on the same ASA L2L? If so, simply by using the definitions of "DefaultL2LGroup" tunnel-group and
of tunnel-group work? Is there a reason to not do? Is better technology (ASA HQ and a combination of ASA 5505 and 1861 at remote sites) available? Yes, you can have both types of tunnels L2L. If you use a PSK - remember that the IP address of the remote site is used to 'validate' to connect to Headquarters. As long as you use a sure PSK = 64 characters and all with upper/lower case alpha numeric - you should be OK.
A better way to do it - is to get the static IP addresses for the site that currently have DHCP from ISP.

GET VPN tunnel mode and transport mode multicast
Hello
I really don't understand why GET VPN uses a tunnel for packets in multicast mode:
Examples of a @multicast = 239.0.0.37:
(1) here a package to GET VPN: | 239.0.0.37 | ESP | 239.0.0.37 | transport layer. Payload: : This way, he uses (two IP headers) IPSec tunnel mode.
(2) here a package that I imagine to be better: | 239.0.0.37 | ESP | transport layer. Payload: : Mode of transport IPsec, 1 registered IP header = fewer bytes used.
In both cases, the IP header cannot be secured, cause GET VPN Tunnel using the same multicast IP header (this is why it works so well...)
I don't understand why Cisco uses model IPsec in tunnel mode to encapsulate packets instead of the mode of transport. I can't find a descent of answer to this question... Maybe my question is not relevant?
Thanks for your replies.
Concerning
Stone,
I quote DIG it
It is worth noting that tunnel header preservation seems very similar to IPsec transport mode.
However, the underlying IPsec mode of operation with GET VPN is IPsec tunnel mode. While
IPsec transport mode reuses the original IP header and therefore adds less overhead to an IP
packet (5% for IMIX packets; 1% for 1400-byte packets), IPsec transport mode suffers from
fragmentation and reassembly limitations when used together with Tunnel Header Preservation
and must not be used in GET VPN deployments where encrypted or clear packets might require
fragmentation.
In practice, reassambly concerns and initially odd behaviors with some encryption engines caused the recommendation to be tunnel mode.
That being said, for large packages (where fresh important generals) overhead costs are minimal. For small packages (voice), the overhead is large, but the packet (after encapsulation) size should not be a problem.

Hello guys,.
I have an ASA 5505 firewall tries to create a VPN tunnel from site to site with a router of 2621 running Advanced IP services. The tunnel keeps do not and I don't know why. Below is the config.

Dynamic L2L Tunnel - the Tunnel is up, will not pass the LAN traffic
Hello everyone. I am repurposing an ASA for my business at a remote site and must use a dynamic Configuration of L2L with Split tunneling active. We used these in the past and they work a lot, and I've referenced Cisco official documentation for the implementation. Currently, I am having a problem where I am unable to pass traffic on the local remote network over the VPN tunnel (it does even not raise the tunnel of form). However, if I run the following command in the ASA remote:
Ping inside the 192.168.9.1
I receive the ICMP responses. In addition, this traffic causes the VPN Tunnel to be created as indicated by show ISA SA:
1 peer IKE: xx.xx.xx.xx
Type: L2L role: initiator
Generate a new key: no State: MM_ACTIVE
Here is the IP addressing scheme:
Network remotely (with the ASA problem): 192.168.12.0/24

: endGood news, that VPN has been implemented!
According to the ping problem, my suggestion is to check, if some type of firewall based on host computers on both sides block ICMP requests.
Anyway, you can still use the capture of packets on the inside of the interfaces of the two ASAs, to check if the ICMP traffic is to reach the ASA.
In addition, you can try to enable ICMP inspection:
Policy-map global_policy
class inspection_defaultinspect the icmp
inspect the icmp error

Impossible to pass traffic through the VPN tunnel
I have an ASA 5505 9.1 running. I have the VPN tunnel connection, but I am not able to pass traffic. through the tunnel. Ping through the internet works fine.

VPN Tunnel access to several subnets ASA 5505
Greetings,
We spent a little time trying to configure our ASA 5505 in order to TUNNEL into several different subnets. Subnets include 192.168.1.0 / 192.168.2.0 / 192.168.10.0
Someone is about to review this setup running and indicate where we have gone wrong. When I connect via the VPN Client, I can access the 192.168.1.0 network, no problem. But fail to reach the other two. Thank you very much.
Output from the command: 'show running-config '.

I see two problems:
1. your ASA has not an interior road to the Incas inside networks. You must add:
Route inside 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0
Route inside 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0
.. .specifying your gateway address of these networks.
2. the statement "access-list standard vpn_splitTunnelAcl permit 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0" sends only a route for 192.168.1.0/24 to your customer. You need to add entries for the other two networks.

IOS: Dynamic VPN with l2tp/CVPN Client
It is possible to configure a router (12.3.9a) to accept dynamic vpn through MS l2tp (XP sp1) and Cisco VPN client (4.0.5 for XP) at the same time?
without the line 'crypto map vpn client client authentication list userauthen' 2 vpn clients work but cisco vpn client does not request a user name and password.
with this line, the l2tp MS client fails.

Hi David
Although it is a L2TP/dynamic IPSEC, you must have authentication configured for dynamic clients.
hope this link can clear things...

Cisco ASA and dynamic VPN L2L Fortigate configuration
I met a problem recently with an ASA 5510 (7.0) and a bunch of Fortigate 50 (3.0 MR7). The ASA is the hub and Fortigates are rays with a dynamic public IP.
I followed this document on the site Web of Cisco (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00805733df.shtml) to set up my ASA and the parameters passed to my counterparts to set up their Fortigates.
However, the ASA journal reveals that attemtps Fortigate connection always tried with DefaultRAGroup before falling back to DefaultL2LGroup and finally died. Experience with putting in place a dynamic VPN between Cisco and Fortigate someone? Which could not fail at each end? Here's a typical piece of error log ASA. The ASA is currently having a static VPN tunnel and a site-2-client VPN in two groups by default.

then back to the DefaultL2LGroup, because he doesn't know if the VPN Client or L2L again when he is contacted fist as they are connecting from dynamic IP peer.
You must ensure that your L2L tunnel-group by default has been configured with the corresponding pre-shared key.
Assuming that you have configured the dynamic map and assign to the card encryption.
Here is an example of configuration where ASA has a static and peripheral ip address pair has dynamic IP:
Hope that helps.

Hi all, ok before I completely remove all of my hair, I thought stop by here and ask the volume for you all with the hope that someone can track down the problem.
In short I am configuring a 'Gateway to gateway' vpn tunnel between two sites, I don't have access to the config of the router from Samsung, but the ISPS making sure that they followed my setup - watching newspapers RV042, I don't however see the reason for the failure - im no expert vpn...
Sorry if the log file turns on a bit, I didn't know where the beginning and the end was stupid I know... any advice would be greatly welcomed lol.

Routing access to Internet through an IPSec VPN Tunnel
Hello
I installed a VPN IPSec tunnel for a friend's business. At his desk at home, I installed a Cisco SA520 and at it is remote from the site I have a Cisco RVS4000. The IPSec VPN tunnel works very well. The remote site, it can hit all of its workstations and peripheral. I configured the RVS4000 working in router mode as opposed to the bridge. In the Home Office subnet is 192.168.1.0/24 while the subnet to the remote site is 192.168.2.0/24. The SA520 is configured as Internet gateway for the headquarters to 192.168.1.1. The remote desktop has a gateway 192.168.2.1.
I need to configure the remote site so that all Internet traffic will be routed via the Home Office. I have to make sure that whatever it is plugged into the Ethernet on the RVS4000 port will have its Internet traffic routed through the Internet connection on the SA520. Currently I can ping any device on the headquarters of the remote desktop, but I can't ping anything beyond the gateway (192.168.1.1) in the Home Office.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Hi William, the rvs4000 does not support the tunnel or esp transfer wild-card.

VPN tunnel between the concentrator 3005 and router Cisco 827
I am trying to establish a VPN tunnel between the Central Office with VPN 3005 and controller branch Cisco 827 router.
There is a router of perimeter with access set up in front of the 3005 list.
I quote the ACLs on the Central perimeter router instructionsuivante to allow traffic to permit ip 3005 - acl 101 all 193.188.X.X (address of the hub)
I get the following message appears when I try to ping a local host in the Central site.
Can Anyoune give me the correct steps to 827 and 3005.
Thank you
CCNP Ansar.

People,
You can help me understand how I can fix the following issues I have with a 1721 router (Version 12.3 (8) T5) and client VPN 4.6.01.x please.
BTW, the server at 192.168.3.2 is a file, DNS, WINS server and proxy for the LAN environment. All the staff of the PC is required to use the proxy but visitors on the 192.168.2.0 network can access the internet directly.
Back to my questions. I have the obligation to set up a VPN tunnel to connect to a PC that is running Terminal Server services / remote desktop on a PC to 192.168.1.9. When running the VPN software on the laptop I get a login prompt and everything seems fine. I ping the addresses of router and that works.
But the three things I don't understand:
1. I can't telnet with great success to the loopback address of the router, as well as other addresses 192.168.x.x. very well, but why is it possible that I can telnet to the 192.168.4.1 loopback address?
2. I can't DRC to the server on 192.168.3.2. The server can (and) accepts connections on a subnet, I created the network of 192.168.6.x I put up as VLAN6 on SEA4 (the port of spare on the map of ether 4 ports). The only thing I did not in the configuration of the interface was the nat ip within the statement.
3. I can't do a nslookup through the tunnel VPN (delays all the time) and neither can I http to the IIS server on the same 192.168.3.2 box. What I mean here is that other applications seem to work except telnet!)
Then...:
Why the telnet is so special? I thought that if I could telnet to the router, then I should be able to access the server. And before ask you, there is no firewall or whatever it is executed on the server by stopping this stupid connections. Hey, I'm the guy from router, not the jockey of server!
I've managed to misinterpret the statement "corresponds to the address 105" in the cryptomap? The ACL would reflect the traffic flow both ways?
I should have a statement of hash in the section of "crypto isakmp policy 5. The client indicates that the connection is OK then why should I need it?
I appreciate your time to help. I was scratching my head a lot in the last two days.
Timothy
Your NAT config, it is what kills you here. You can telnet to the router interface, because then the NAT configuration does not take effect (because NAT doesn't happen for passing traffic THROUGH the router, FOR her). You must refuse the IPSec traffic to be NAT would have, otherwise, it does not match the encryption access list and is not encrypted on the way back.
Your 100 access list is incorrect, remove it and add in the following:
access-list 100 deny ip 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255 192.168.5.0 0.0.0.255
access-list 100 permit ip 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255 everything
That said NAT VPN traffic does 192.168.5.0, but NAT do it if he goes anywhere else (Internet).
Also, you seem to have defined a map static encryption for your customer traffic, it is not used and may cause you problems with the list of access-105. Follow these steps to get rid of it and just use the dynamic encryption card:
no card crypto clientmap 1
You just need to have dynamic instance map (number 20) crypto left in your config file.
