Aumentare spazio su virtual disk esxi 5.0

Salve,

STO tentando di aumentare lo spazio knew una macchina virtuale che ha come OS debian.

Ho editato macchina ham vshpere client modificando it provisioned di valore size 130GB era 11FR precedentemente.

The Unico problema e che nel OS di debian verificando ability del disco mi porta sempre 11FR, come e possibile (vedi hoist)?

That some principle e da low per aggiornare disco of it a quella ability? TRA l'altro entering nel datastore di quella macchina di pulito hard file it 130GB

Resto in attesa di buona some anima che mi Può dare una mano.

Grazie thousand

In alternative you can fare he boot con una distribuzione di live gparted (http://gparted.org/livecd.php) e tramite espandi gui it disco. The macchina virtuale pero sara offline in what period.

  • OpenManage for VMWare ESXi has no possibility of tasks of virtual disk

OMSA v 7.1 and 7.2 for Windows (and earlier versions) allow the user to perform many tasks on virtual disks, including reconfiguring - expand a RAID array with a new drive.

This is not true for managing open for VMWare ESXi - although you can monitor the status of the RAID and disks with the browser of the OMSA interface type, you cannot perform tasks - can not even make a high beam Flash.

It is a huge problem, because the PERC controllers (H700 and H800, for example) don't allow you to develop virtual using hard drives not Dell disks when you try this during startup in the bios.  (These controllers only allows you to create new virtual disks using drives not Dell).

This test was conducted using the latest firmware (12.10.4 - 0001 A10) and drivers for the H700 and H800 and multi-server r610 ESXi 5.1.

Other people with VMWare have been affected by the present?  The only solution is to have two player networks connected to the computer, and create a simple Windows with OMSA, boot in Windows Server to expand the table using OMSA for Windows.

I would be interested in the comments of others, including those of Dell.  We spent hours on the phone with Dell; This seems to be the only solution.  (Yes, Dell released a firmware version last year that has ceased blocking non Dell readers, but it only works for the creation of a new virtual disk, do not expanding one existing).

Yes.  It came through a discussion in the Dell | Servers | Discussion of the RAID community.

    en.Community.Dell.com/.../20263442.aspx

There is a CD bootable linux called OMSA Live that you download from PowerEdge (linux OS) systems management.

This OMSA PERC H700 and H800 control and allows you to do everything.  When you reconfigure the RAID and the PERC card starts the reconstruction, although it seems risky, you can restart under VMware and the reconstruction of the RAID continues on.  And you can analyze with OMSA for VMware.

  • What is the maximum size of virtual disk in machines virtual esxi 4.0

I am trying to create a virtual disk to a virtual machine, I want to make the size of the 300 GB disk but its not allowing to create.

Can I know what is the maximum size of virtual disk, we can create in machines virtual esxi 4.0 with vmfs3 partition

The maximum size of the virtual disk that you can use depends on the size of the selected block when formatting of the data store. With the default of 1 MB block size, the maximum size of virtual disk on a VMFS-3 datastore is ~ 256MB.

  • Installed ESXi on USB/Flash but swap does not seem to have been placed on the virtual disk

    Hello

I've read several times that when you install ESXi 5.1 on flash media he creates a work space available on a virtual disk of 4 GB in/tmp/scratch so that the USB itself is not used for temporary data to extend the life of the USB.  However, this doesn't seem to be from my experience and I was wondering if someone can help me to confirm that my disc scratch is actually on a virtual disk or whatever on the USB.  I should mention as well as installing ESXi has identified correctly as 'flash' disc type and the disc as a "Generic USB drive»

After installation, I noticed two things:

1 log-in user activity logs are able to survive a reboot (I don't think they should the ramdisk is dissolved after a reboot)

    2. There is no directory with the path/tmp/scratch

Unfortunately I can not directly determine where the partition scratch is (be it on USB or RAM) because I did not have a file ' / etc/fstab "watching (even if I under ESXi 5.0 disk a hard base install?) and it doesn't seem to be a 'mount' command I can use to look at the existing mounts either.

Can anyone tell me what can I do to verify that the directory used for temporary files is actually a virtual disk and not on the USB drive itself?  Hours of research are presented only the forum messages and documentation clearly indicating that the file will use "/ tmp/scratch", but that just isn't the case.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

    Hello MrRedPants,

Since you are using a configuration not redundant you will have problems trying to modify the paths between the controllers since the two hosts have only a single connection to the MD3000.  What you could do if possible is to get 2 more SAS cables & connect ports second on the MD to RAID opposite that the host is currently connected to.

Now, if this isn't an option so that you can make is to have 2 disk groups and assign the virtual disks / LUNS that are connected to each host in their own disk group.  If you go to each host their own groups of disks, then you will need to stop the e/s as you move the Ramdisk to the new group of disks so that you want to discard any data loss.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

  • virtual disk shared in win 7 64

Hi, I had a problem with ussing Shared Virtual Disk in the Virtual Machine to Win 7 64. (Esxi 6.0)

-J' I (450 GB) SSD storage and I creat 2 VM ussing Win 7 64 on it. (40 for 2 VM and ~ 400 GB not of ussing)

-J' I create a virtual disk (a disk) with option thick eager willingness to zero (400 GB). Set SCSI controller to "Virtual" in the two VM.

-Add "Drive" VM 1, power on VM1 and Format 'A disc' as 'D:' (NTFS) volume.

-Add "Drive" for VM2, VM2 power, and I see 'A disc' as 'D:' too. It's ok, im doing D Volume as a folder where the two VM can read and write so fast, don't need via Ethenet.

    - BUT, I got a proplem here, when I make a new folder ("Test") in the D volume in VM1, it does not show VM2 (the same when I try with VM2), but when I restart VM2, I see "Test folder" here.

-J' have tried to control SCSI developed Physic, add SCSI(x:y) = multi writer... but it is not working properly. (I hope that it works as part of volume in windows).

Please, give me any help. Thanks so muchhhh. I tried in 1 week, seem it's too difficult for me.

    Welcome to the community,

This won't work unfortunately, because Windows 7 does not support shared access to a volume. To use a volume of several hosts (as ESXi does this with VMFS data stores) it is necessary that the operating system is aware of which - as mentioned earlier - Windows 7 isn't.

What you can do is to assign the virtual disk to only one of the 7 VM window, share the disk (or folder) and map the network on the other virtual computer.

  • Copy of the virtual disk for use by another virtual machine

Hi all! How can I copy a virtual disk file to a location for future use by another virtual machine? I tried to just copy the hard, but it did not work for me - the copy is about 1 KB size and I can not add it as a hard drive on another virtual machine. Can someone help me?

OK, so this client web vSphere that you use, in this case browse datastore doesn't show you the two files.

    Please follow the steps below

Please go to Cluster & host inventory

    Select your ESXi host

go to the tab 'Manage'-> settings-> Security-> Service Profile, and then click the button CHANGE

    Start the SSH service.

If please use WinSCP to connect to your Esxi host and navigate to the folder of the virtual machine as in the screenshot to the suite, I navigated to a folder that is my VM name: Win10A

and it has a virtual disk, if I want to take the virtual disk of this virtual machine to a different VM, I need to copy the two files that are highlighted.

the two are to train your virtual disk.

Download these two files and download them to another folder where you second VM resides, then try to tie it with this virtual machine.

  • Expanded the bad virtual disk but not Guest OS - Shrink?

Not quite another question generic "shrink the VMDK.

I accidentally spread the bad virtual disk in vCenter 725 GB to 1 TB. Fortunately, I realized that until I expanded the partition to use the new space in Windows. Is it possible to reclaim that space? In the virtual machine settings, I have the options of arrow to "reduce" the size down, but I'm not sure on the impact at the prompt to do. Certainly if the guest has not been extended to consume this space then it should be recoverable?

as you're talking about: the option arrow in the virtual machine settings

This does not leave you reduce (Shrink) the size of the virtual disk, which has already been strengthened. This option is useful in the case when we say you went into settings of the virtual machine, the disk size increased from 10 to 20 GB, but not yet committed that change and you want to return to 15 you can then use this arrow to do.

  • Machine virtual hard disk (virtual disk) of the upper size limit put into service

Hi there, so I'm trying to create a hard drive or a virtual disk in a Virtual Machine in order to configure the virtual machine as a file server. The data store is a Promise VTrak M610P and I installed the vtrak as a type of VMFS5 5,46 TB of space (4 2 hard disks to each RAID 5). In the virtual machine, I added a hard drive and selected the store data vtrak and tried to set the provisioned to 5.46 TB size and type thick lazy disposition to zero, but I get an error of DiskCapControl with the range values. I changed the size set in service and 4 TB and he accepted the new hard drive. I can't find anything on the actual limit on the creation of hard disk in a virtual computer.

    I'm running a server Supermicro X7DAL-E with VMware ESXi 5.5 U2.

Any ideas would be useful. Thank you.

I forgot I asked a similar question on a different section of the forum (shame on me), but I found a solution. Please see the following post Re: SMB access using esxi host and manage with MS server 2008 storage

Here's what I wrote on the link above:

So it turns out that there seems to be something wrong with vClient when you add a hard disk (virtual disk) to a virtual machine of size greater than 4 TB. Article VMware KB: value of range error message when you add more than 4 TB capacity discs in vSphere Client describes this if you encounter this problem, add the hard drive via vSphere CLI, CLI power or vmkfstools. So this seems to be a known issue on vClient. What I ended up doing was using vClient, creation of hard disk, adding to the virtual machine (size of the hard drive is to 5.45) and when I would get the error message on the DiskCapControl out of reach, I would just click OK and then finalize the creation of the hard drive on the virtual machine. Once the process is complete, I selected the virtual machine and noticed that he indeed added a new HDD size 5.45 TB even if he's complained about it. I pulled to the top of the virtual machine with windows server 2008 R2 installed and was able to create a new disk under windows and set it up as a shared drive on the network. Looks like vClient must be updated by VMware and correct this bug, if it's a bug that I think. Thank you for the help vervoort!

    Hello.

I have a physical Windows Server 2003 x 64 R2 Standard and try to convert it to vSphere with vCenter Converter Standalone 5.5.0 VM 5.5.

When I start the task, VM is created on vSphere, but after a few seconds machine is removed and task collapsed with messages: "year error occurred opening a virtual disk." "Make sure the server Converter and source computer have a network access to hosts esx/esxi source and destination.

There are no problems with access to the network, I check.

I tried many things (disable SSL on the server Converter, converter running directly on the source machine, see providers vss on source...) but without success.

    Any idea is welcome.

  • Providing Encrypted virtual disks instead of tenant multiple

I need to provide that each client encrypted virtual disks in a virtual environment.  I don't want to spend a whole data store on each client requiring encryption.

    Is this possible?

    Hello

Yes it is possible, but using encryption as a guest. Tools that help with this would be HyTrust DataControl and CloudLink SecureVM/navigation.

In addition, if you do not use a store of data encryption, choose one that allows you to have different keys by VM. In this way, you can have key tenant unique regardless of where the data is stored.

  • Trying to fix a CID parent access to a file descriptor of delta but VM still does not start. Other error "cannot open the disk...". The specified file is not a virtual disk.

Starting the virtual machine has been tried several times earlier when I received the error message to tell the parent disk had been changed since the child was created. I looked at the resolution and had a go at fixing.

I downloaded the vmdk files to find the problematic descriptor file it corrected and then download the a back fixed to the data store. I then removed the VM of the inventory and then re he added before attempting to start it. He says now the specified file is not a virtual disk. Unfortunately, I didn't know that he was still working on a snapshot file and had been for some time. It was a former VM test that I had played a little bit with all learning on VMware, but unfortunately he had a few files on it which is no longer, I have backup ups for and I could really do with recovery of them! The base file and delta file are always on display in the data store and I can re - use the base file in a new virtual machine but I need the data from the snapshot if possible file. Not sure if it can be manually engaged at the base (I have a copy of). I'm new to this depth of troubleshooting and according to research I realize it is a great chance, the data is not recoverable. Having said that if there is no hope at all then I would try or at least have someone who knows what they're doing a go help before you tell me everything is lost! I'm not really bothered to get the virtual machine running again, but must be able to copy some files in the C drive.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Craig

I can't tell you if the data in the virtual drive itself can be retrieved by the attached hard file. However, it seems that you have used an editor who added a BOM (Byte-Order-Mark) at the beginning of the file, which made her an invalid for ESXi.
