Auto Import

I use multiple catalogs for various professional and private purposes. I use import auto, but want to establish different records monitored for each catalog. It is here, as a suggestion!

    Ok!

  • Why auto import does not work?

As shown in the Panel LR file to 'auto import' is not sensible. To set up a control folder requires it to be empty, but announces that he will feel a card (which will have folders) in a location on the computer. Then the Setup program indicates the folder must be empty.

Try to make all this work, I put an empty card in the slot and for the installer selected empty folder DCIM/100EOS7D of the card. LR who agreed that the folder is empty. Then allowing with the box in the upper part has been accepted by LR. But when I tried to eject the empty map, I got an error message that the card was in use (no other programs to use it). So I had to close and restart LR, and it can eject then OK.

Then, I put a map with photos in the folder DCIM/100EOS7D into this slot and waited and waited. No LR reaction, which was already running (CC 6.3 on Win 7 Pro).

I am sure I do not what is expected, but I tried over and over again in the course of the years and never managed to do work. Why don't the treat of instructions of installation using a card slot and use words that describe what will happen with the card when inserted? If it takes the installer with an empty map, say so. But I proved that is not enough, or not right in the first place.

If anyone has this work, I'll be happy to read about a process that works. The published data are totally confused. J Kost video has nothing about it and huge book of same V Bampton just repeats the instructions from Adobe. Thanks in advance for fixing this.

The "Watched" folder must be located in your computer system. For example. on the desktop. (Not on the camera card or a connected camera)

You must use the operating system to do drag or copy & paste the images from the camera card to the 'Watched' folder using the software of the camera or just with Windows Explorer or the Mac Finder.

Then when Lr is running it will take images of the "Watched" folder and import them into the catalogue and the "Destination" folder

So "watched" folder on the hard drive of the computer. (Desktop computer is handy!)

For anyone who uses a scanner setting up the scanner can set an output folder - this could be the "Watched" folder and each scan would be automatically added to the catalog.

  • Auto import grayed out

I have a new Canon 7 d Mark II, which is not supporated by Lr5 Tethered Shooting for now. Studying, I found a feature I wasn't aware, Auto Import. I have instructions on how to put in place where I that would use the EOS utility to capture and save a picture in a folder and if properly Lr Auto import would then import the image in Lr. sounds good, but turn on Auto import in the menu file is gray, everything that can be clicked auto import settings. If I click that, when the option screen opens at the top there is a checkbox to activate the automatic import who is also grayed out.

    Can someone help/make a suggestion?

Kenn, you must initialize the parameters in the parameters dialog box. This indicates LR where to find images and how to import them. Once you fill in the parameters, the 'Enable' option will be active and you can select.

  • Auto Import - Initial preview STOP?

Hi, how can I stop the initial preview jumping to the most recent image that was imported?

    My configuration is:

Look at the record of transfer FTP via Canon WFT; Look at the folder is then auto import in Lightroom.

I have the question because someone can work on a file in Lightroom and yet because we do event photography the Dungeon of images on arrival however, happening at the most recent image which is annoying when showing a potential client of the image.

    See you soon

    Tim

General/preferences/Import Options, uncheck the box "select collection current/previous import when importing.

  • Auto Import: why LR passes the imported file to 'Auto imported photos "?

If I put a picture in the control folder, why duplicate in another folder?  After importing, I seem to have the photo image file in two places.

She should move (do not copy) from the folder of control to the destination folder. Can you provide a screenshot of your auto import settings?

Also confirm your permissions of the watched and the destination folders. I bet you need read/write on the control record must be able to move because it is essentially the removal after copying. But I expect some kind of error message in this case.

  • Can Lightroom auto import of the subfolders in a folder of control?

I have a job "watched folder", implemented through Lightroom's auto import settings.  When I place an image in this folder, it is imported in my lightroom catalog.

However, if I put a folder of images in this folder of control (i.e. "James and Stephanie" is put in a 'marriage' case), nothing happens.  I don't want all my images in one folder; That's why I have Lightroom, so they can be organized into folders but collected in a database.

I do not understand why Lightroom wants to go automatic image import to a destination folder.

I would like to file a case in the 'watched' folder and have Lightroom Import (without moving the image) in my catalog.

I was surprised not to find this question in Internet research; It is terribly obvious, or is there a better way that I'm not familiar with?

    Thank you!

The control record is largely for simple images to be embedded in an external application of attachment, import and travel in a designated folder catalogued.  LR is not a way to visualize a folder tree.  You can use sync the folder for it.

  • Organize imports & amp; Auto Import/class Lookup

I worked with Flex Builder 3 now for more than a month. I like many of its features. He made so much for me in the development of AIR/ActionScript/Flex applications that there is really no other choice. However, the function "organize imports" just does not work well. The only time it works is when you declare a new variable. If you are lucky enough to hit perfectly, beautifully adds imports to no class concludes. However, if you commit a letter so as back up and type the name of the class properly, you lose your auto import. If you type your name and the class definition of the variable correctly and to think, Hey, 'I can go to the menu and choose to organize imports,' Unfortunately, you're wrong. Organize imports does nothing. Sometimes it deletes class imports that belong to the code you have temporarily put in the comments, but he never shoots anything in. In addition, if you access a static function of a class, i.e. not you declare a variable, but simply don't appeal to a class function, no import occurs at all. Organize imports does not work. You must go and type in the import of yourself. He tries to help you at this stage, but if you forget the exact place in the structure of the package, you must go to the docs to know where he is, type it in, and then you get service introspection. I love what Flex Builder done for me, but this is just lame. I used FDT for some time see if this tool would work for me, but, unfortunately, is not. It is not just to give you all the power than Flex Builder. But I never type in my import! Their helper class features work very well. I can type in a class, it lack of spelling, fix it and he catches the class. When I chose to organize imports, it works only all other language Eclipse plug-ins work. Why is this? Why am I expected to pay $ top of page for a product that is broken in one of the most simple ways? Someone take it all on that? I can't be the only frustrated... Thank you. Sorry for a pure mug shot, but I just needed to vent and wanted to know if Adobe plans to correct this obvious flaw... Or if everyone just expected this continues this way and he accepts.

Thank you, Tanya. I posted two bugs:

  • Why auto import any actually have my images in my catalog?

Hello - I use LR4 with an installation of camera Canon (wind 7 Ultimate). I have the setting of import auto all configured with an incoming folder and the destination. The application recognizes when an image is placed in the incoming folder and actually moves it to the destination folder. Which is really annoying, it's let me in the import dialog box, and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I had to manually import.

Images must not be places in the destination folder and some view this image displayed in LR? It could be the folder view, or ideally I want to see the last image imported in the format 1:1 in order to review it and see if I want to take another picture?  Maybe there's some flag I had put incorectly.

    Thank you very much

    Rich

Ah, I think I got it. My Canon software was also setup to push the image in LR as a filed application. Who has disabled automatic import seems to do what I want. For anyone reading this later... Simply set the current view of the image to the size of the preview that you want and all the imported images are expected to open in this preview size.

  • accidentally auto imported all the images of USB

My Macbook Pro has been sluggish, so I moved 5000 photos to a USB enabled immediately. I needed to photograph then inserted the USB, but even if I just looked at them via preview, 5000 images imported automatic again in the library & now I'm back for sluggish Mac. Why this happens, I can cancel it without spending many hours it took to wean their in the first plac, what prefs I need to change to avoid a recurrence. Is there a recommended book or a site I can access to improve my habits of production, etc.! I use iphoto, but it has changed a lot since I started using it several years and feel as I know even more, although I use it every day. Help! I use iphoto 9.5.1 MacBook Pro 10.9.5.

iPhoto is not an automatic import facility. The only way these images got bak in the library is if you have imported the, I'm afraid.

What is your hard drive? How much free space on it?

  • HPW I don't tell WMP to STOP auto import of videos and photos. I want to do it manually. I am running Windows 7.

    Separated from this thread.

I tried the instructions above and Windows Media Player still imported all my videos and pictures from my computer. I have the version 12.0.   I can't remove them from the library and keep them on my computer. But I want to tell WMP to stop importing forever. I want to do it manually.  I am running Windows 7.

HI - no, you're quite safe - this is just a directory, and none of your videos and photos will be lost... It stops just WMP from the monitoring of these places.

Follow my instructions to create a shortcut on the desktop (you can do this for youcam videos and public * so) and you can easily access it by this method. Best - R.

    * (same method but "users" you will need to select 'public' - 'public videos' to create the shortcut.)

  • Need routine to auto import myfile.csv

I have a stored procedure which can import MYFILE. CSV in an oracle table.

MYFILE. CSV, comes from a 3rd party, can be put on our server from anywhere

    10:00 to 15:00.

I need a routine that would check for C:\temp\myfile. CSV, say every 3 minutes.  IF the file exists, and then import file.

Then rename the file. If possible, after the file has been imported, stop the routine of checking up to tomorrow.

Myfile.CSV file may contain records up to 366.

DBMS_SCHEDULER File Watcher allows to start a workflow with two programs:

    • Program PL/SQL to import the data (see the comment by Frank on external Table)
    • external program (for example, the shell script), which moves the file

My terminology is not correct.  But it's how you do it.
