Auto repair loop

I'm stuck in the loop of the automatic repair of HP Pavilion (windows8) and I need to know the safest rest / how to solve this problem.

Hello

In this case, the error code 24 characters for the drive Self Test (DST) would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the initial problem you describe in your first post.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

Kind regards

My laptop was working fine. I left home and came back, and now it is stuck in a loop of auto repair. I was looking around a bit online and nothing has worked. I can't enter the mode without failure or BIOS. I don't have a disk hard or in any case to reinstall anything. Don't know what to do.

    Hey @sowens3,

If you enter the BIOS by pressing F2 key immediately as you power upward? If so go to Diagnostics and test your hard drive.

If you enter a command prompt test: on the command line, type SFC/SCANNOW Command - System File Checker will open and check the system.

  • Windows stuck on "auto repair loop."

Currently the display of my Macbook (because it works).  My PC is stuck on the "automatic repair" cycle, I rebooted a million times, I restore to an earlier date and still nothing.  No fix for that with out having to reinstall?

    Hi Gareth,

The ntoskrnl.exe file is a basic operating system file. If it is damaged or missing, you get this error.

What is the brand and model of your computer?

I suggest you to scan a drive for controlling the Windows recovery environment (WinRE) and check if it helps.

Abbreviation for "check disk" CHKDSK is a system tool in Windows. He checks the integrity of a volume file system and correct the logical file system errors.

Follow the steps below to run chkdsk WinRE analysis

    1. To start your computer, wait for the logo of the manufacturer to check the option of start menu, it will usually F12.
    2. The start menu key can be different with each manufacturer. If you are unable to find the start menu button, you can consult the user manual.
    3. Restart the computer, when you see the logo of the manufacturer, continue to press the Boot option menu key to enter the boot menu and change the option to boot in DVD ROM.
    4. After you start your computer by using Windows 8 DVD, a black screen appears with the gray text "press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press a button on any.
    5. Select the type of keyboard and good time.
    6. Click on repair your computer in the lower left corner.
    7. Click Troubleshooting, advanced option, and then click command prompt
      Type the following command
chkdsk /f /r and press enter on the keyboard

Important: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost

If the issue still persist after scan try to re - build BCD

Follow the steps below to re - build BCD

    1. Go to the command prompt of the WinRE by steps above following and type commands below
    2. Type the following commands and press ENTER after each command line:
      Bootrec /fixmbr
      Bootrec /fixboot
      Bootrec /scanos
      Bootrec /rebuildbcd

Restart the computer and check the issue.

    It seems that updates (not upgrade) in the August issue are at the origin of the problems, but it is not perform all devices, link below is one of the many comments about it;

I really dig Win10 until the endless auto start looping of the repair mode.

I would really like to know is Win10 ready or I re - will the mode of automatic endless repair loop if I re - install.

    TIA,

    MsPositive

I wait a while before trying again, because it is a free upgrade for one year from July 29, 2015 and wait about 3 to 6 months then try as I'm sure you're not the only one and that it should have a number of bugs from December to March 2016 time period.

Also create a backup of Windows 7 Image before you start the upgrade process. If something goes wrong, it will be another path to Windows 7 if the Roll Back option (restore Windows 7) doesn't work.

  • Windows 8 restart loop/lack of auto repair

Last night I went to do a repair of the system, because I didn't because I got the computer and I got the HP Envy 4-1117nr Sleekbook "Floor model" of course it came not with a key, or anything to help me with a problem like that, but to reinstall it when I was out of the room im guess it out for whatever the reason and he did not. At least it's what im guessing all im reading. So now, whenever I turn it on it goes into the loop where it says sorry, something happened went to restart your computer to fix, then immediately comes up with default of auto repair.

Can I do it without the original substance of BONE re-do it. Or what I need to buy a new one (yes I looked through HP for them to send me a USB boot) or what are my options?

Oh, and about 45 minutes (11:45 Central time) I should have the exact error codes. Just wait for the tests finish.

  • Stuck on the infinite loop of auto repair

    Hi guys,.

Ive had a problem with my computer. I have the alienware aurora r4 and have and issue with blue screen and auto repair mode.

The real problem is really the mode of auto repair. What happened is that when I did a windows update it ended to give me a bluescreen during loging screen when I start the computer. After 3 restart put me in auto repair infinit loop and since then I can't get out, not even will lauch and im safe mode don't really know what to do.

There is no problem of harware, I run the ePSA to confirm this. but the main reason is that it is the second time this has happened to me. the first time windows upated this month he did the samething, but I would get blue screen after login. How to solve this problem the first time, is that I restore my system to a certain date, when I didn't have this problem. After this, I turn off the windows upadte until I get more information one why its done 2 days ago, it is accidentally turn on by my antivirus or maybe accidentally by me.

Now it is stuck on this infinite loop for auto repair and I can't do a system files because it must be done in safe mode, or need to disable launch beginning of antivirus (not exacly how his writings sound penultimate option aloong SafeMode in windows 8.1)

What I have to do is stop mode auto repair, so that I can operate either in safe mode or disable the antivirus at the beginning so that I can restore my computer to a day where it was working fine. The computer has access to the command prompt, so any code that can disable or ask the system that he has never mistake might help.

There is a file that I really need to recover from this computer and also need to use this machine. Any help is appreciated

    Thank you

    Hello

Unfortunately, I woke up this morning to my Y410P stuck with the Lenovo logo and text saying "prepare auto repair. After a few moments, it will say "Diagnose your PC" and then "repair disk errors. It could take more than an hour to finish. "Edit: then after a few seconds, it restarts and everything happens again.

As you can imagine I am very satisfied with this and I have no idea what may have caused it. I am currently studying in Belgium so no help here I can get will be greatly appreciated.

  • Urgent - Windows RT Surface is in preparation for loop of auto repair

    Team MS Hello,

I have been using my Windows 8 RT Surfact Tablet for a few days. I don't know what went wrong, my Tablet Surface is not able to connect.
Rebooted/Reset/refresh all operations starts with 'Auto repair Preparation' and fails with the error message with below "Shut down" and "Advanced Options":
Auto repair couldn't fix your PC
Press 'Advanced Options' to try other options to repair your PC or "Shut down" to turn off your PC.
    Log file: C:\windows\System32\LogFiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

But could not find any file of that type in the c:\windows\system32\logfiles folder. Not even the record 'Srt' are available.
On automatic selection of Advanced repair options-->--> advanced troubleshooting, tablet will show "Diagnose your PC" with spinning points, then displays the same error message.

Also, tried all the options that are available in advanced option, except, "use a USB network connection device or Windows recovery DVD", as I do not have Windows Recovery DVD with me.

I am badly stuck with my work, please help me solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

It is normal for the Chargers for devices such as the Surface to be warm to the touch. It is not normal for them to also get very hot though. If it's hot, I consider that it is defective and a possible fire hazard and would communicate with the support of Microsoft Surface to have it replaced. Please see:

  • How to remove Win 8 once you got into the loop of auto repair

    Hello

I want to delete my win 8 and 8.1 pre-installed os clean win install.

The first thing that boot is an auto repair repeatedly. In prebooting does not react on any key functional. The only things I can use are UEFI and command prompt. Everything else does not work (so don't suggest me trying sth else) and I do not have the recovery partition. After the Boot priority, on USB HDD and restart the laptop (SAMSUNG) it resets to how previous start.

Some info: I disabled the startup security, disabled the quick start, activated Legasy only, I delete all the partition on the HARD disk. What can I do else so that the pc will not reset the boot priority back?

Jayant Gupta thanks for your reply, but I already did. Just in case if this could help someone: I have disabled everything I could in UEFI (absolutely everything) - saved and restarted, then I deleted all the positions in except USB Flash Driver Boot priority where my 8.1 Win was - saved, rebooted and kept pressing three keys: ESC, F2, F11 (one of them finally worked); and then I finally got on the menu before installation of the USB Flash driver.

My HP Pavilion becomes a blue screen with "Unhandled Exception in thread system.  He then brings me to a window of auto repair.  If I click, 'Restoration', the screen turns black with the logo 'HP' and then gets stuck.  If I click 'Cancel', it brings me to a screen that says: "auto repair couldn't fix your PC.  "Log file: C:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt.

I tried to go to advanced options and get the command prompt, using:

    Bootrec /fixMBR

    Bootrec /rebuildBCD

I also tried to open safe mode.  All with no luck.
