Auto-restart after update

I just lost work hours with this maddening feature. Update downloaded in the background Windows and then a window opens asking me to reboot now or postpone it for 10 minutes. I postponed but something popped up and then when I returned to my computer it has restarted and all my work was lost. Surely, you will have to click a button to confirm before it restarts. How can I stop this never happens again?

Click Start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > then click on change settings at the top left it there

> Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".

Then you control when and how they are installed.

And if you do not want a particular update, you do a right click on it > hide it.

  • Auto-restart after update-install

    How can I stop Windows from automatically restart my PC after installing updates? While he gives me a grace period of 10 minutes, I couldn't be sitting at my computer and actually see this message.

    Change the way you receive updates:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial140.html

    Understand the Extras in Windows Vista and Windows Update info is at the link above.

    Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Vista will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

    Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

    I have re installed the drivers

    Now the Tablet does not start-> error - system thread unhandled exception

    The system Thread Exception BSOD error unhandled in Windows 8 arises especially due to incompatible or old graphics card drivers.

    I assume that you have installed drivers that were not compatible
    To solve this problem I recommend you choose the Windows repair procedure

    You should start the tablet in the menu boot device
    Press on and hold the flight button + and hold also the power button until the device turns on and the boot device selection menu appears.

    Now you should be able to choose the option of HARD drive recovery.
    Then choose troubleshooting and got advanced options
    Here, you should be able to repair the system automatically.

  • By using the system restore before computer restart after updating Windows 10...

    I chose to try the upgrade of Windows 10 on my laptop primary.  Because of the long installation times, I started late in the evening then followed finishing (or almost) the update the next morning.  Until I sat down to 'start' I spoke with a friend who had just completed an installation of two heavy day of problems.    Although I am good enough to solve computer OS and software installation problems, I was very reluctant to go forward.   After serious soul searching I elected continue to use Windows 7, I don't really like.

    That's why I chose to use the system restore before restarting my computer needed complete Windows Update 10.  I chose the previous restore point before the update of windows 10 and ran through the entire procedure and then restarted the computer after the restore point.

    Everything worked fine and I was able to do the foregoing... Except that I can't do updates of security that have been uninstalled.   The Windows Update screen repeat "you must restart your computer...". "with the reboot by holding the active button.

    This window doesn't go away even after reboot, and I can not "check for Updates".

    Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reset this program if I can do all the updates except Windows 10 security.

    Thank you for any assistance.

    By using the system restore before computer restart after updating Windows 10...

    Sorry, System Restore does not cancel the major updates, that's why a lot of automatic updates delete all system restore points. The tool that is appropriate in this case would be a restore Image. If you have not created an image before the upgrade, then you are out of luck.

  • How can I disable the auto restart (following updates) for Windows 7 Home Premium (without messing around w / the register)?

    Hello.  About all of the weeks I have my upload computer files from one day to the next.  It's a 17-hour process, and I don't want the computer off or restarted during this process.  Murphy's law usually results in an update windows & restart related happening whenever I put my computer to download said.  First of all, it is deeply annoying that windows would reboot my computer without asking me (Yes, I realize he asks you, and if you are away for an extended period, he just goes ahead and does it... but really, what the $#! % is the point of asking you if she goes ahead and that anyway when you get him just enough early?)  Wow!  Incredibly retarted the Windows for this.)  But anyway, how can I disable this for Win7 Home Premium?  (As if in the first place is not quite annoying, making it virtually impossible to figure out how to turn it off is like adding insult to injury).  Please NOTE, I've seen some other forum post responses on this site that is: (1) link to an information page on the group policies for system administrators, but nowhere does really explain where and how to access these policies and change them!  (2) has a process that begins with 'gpedit.msc' running, but when I started > box to search for this file, there is no result.  (3) the hacking the registry (seriously?  Please, don't.)  SO, please tell me how to disable the auto restart, step by step, without messing with the registry, for WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM.  Ideally, I'd like to be able to potentially re - activate cela in the future and/or switches back as my usage dictates.  And for the record, it's nut that's not a simple option toggle any, as when my computer or monitor sleeps...  Thank you!!

    Thank you.  I'll do it and change my Windows Update settings.  BUT, FYI, in an act even more incredible, the same night I posted my question here, my computer was said upload, and I was still in place at 03:00 (when Windows is set to d/l and install updates).  I went to the kitchen for a bit and returned to my computer to find a countdown - he downloaded updates and "will re-start in 7 minutes" or so and counting down... I said "AH HA!"  I caught you! "I clicked the button of REPORTER and went to bed smiling that I myself had saved wasting many hours of work.  But when I woke up the next morning... HE HAD DONE IT AGAIN!  This means that it is: (1) downloaded another "critic" (cough) update later in the evening, which seems likely because it took to do this at 03:00 and had already done so... or (2) the REPORTER button defers only during a certain period of time (maybe an hour, or even less, by the look of it) and then do it again anyway.

    This is ridiculous.  As it is not ridiculous to called 9 10 patches 'critical', so critical that an urgent restarting your computer is necessary EVEN IF HE is BUSY WORKING, the substitution of the computer user asks to postpone and reboot anyway is absolutely unacceptable.  How the manufacturers of Windows might think this makes sense, let alone was a good idea?  Reporter should make the computer restarts DO NOT until * I * say he is allowed to do.

    In this case, finish the work of 17 hours, that the computer was in the Middle has been MUCH more critical that whatever is downloaded updated.  NO doubt about it.  I know.  Apparently, my operating system is not smart enough to know.  So to take it upon himself to replace my reporter application is crazy.  And in addition, the operating system MUST be smart enough to understand this - it's really not that difficult - if the computer is a lot of work, something intense, a download that is not finished, a sort of bar of ANY progress on ANY application which is not 100% yet, etc., it should be smart enough to WAIT to reboot anyway.

    Thanks again once, change Windows Update settings so it will download updates but let me choose to install them, since this operating system is so poorly thought.

  • EMCC OUI(Win 2012) does not restart after updates.

    Hello

    I am trying to install the EMCC 12.1.0.4 on a virtual machine in Windows Server 2012 hosted on an ESXi server. Previously installed without getting updates completed without any problems. Because some features did not work properly, I decided to install once more and also get updates from Oracle. I followed the directions of advanced installation. The virtual machine has been reset to the stage before. So no installation is dirty.

    After getting updates and display the patches Oracle Setup calls a Windows saying that the installer will be restarted. But it's not. I waited and waited, but nothing happened.

    Newspapers shows the first steps after the restart and no other error. I tried several other approaches:

    1. download the updates from the server to install and use my credentials for Metalink

    2. use the option - ignoresysprereqs

    3 use the option - showProxy

    4. download updates on another server using the option - downloadUpdates as the copy on the server to win 2012.

    In all cases the same behavior:

    After you click OK in the windows message saying that will follow a restart of the installation, the installation program restarts, a command window is displayed for 1-2 seconds, then everything stops.

    I have everything running as administrator.

    Hello

    a realization to the description in my question:

    The list of patches to install was the following:

    Patch 19337487 for the Service of management of Oracle for 12G

    Patch 19003055 for the Service of management of Oracle for 12G

    Patch 19519190 for the Service of management of Oracle for 12G

    BASIC 20392036 ENTERPRISE platform MANAGER - SGD 12.1.0.4.3 PSU (GENERIC)(System Patch)

    Updated 14045804 YES

    And I was able to capture the contents of the command window that appears for 1-3 seconds prior to YES.

    Are more errors saying:

    ...

    error: cannot remove the old c:\Users\Admini~1\AppData\Local\Temp\2\OraInstall2015-05-18_02_04_18PM\oui\jlib\xml.jar

    ...

    YES updates patch would probably come in conflict with the running configuration.

    In any case have not yet no solution.

  • FF restarts after update one opens a new box that says update highly recommended when I click on next FF is unable to connect to the server, it's been going on for two weeks. What continues?

    FF says that an upgrade is available. After that has been done and restarted FF another window opens saying that a very important (urgent) update is nesscary, when I click on the button NEXT, a progress bar appears and says the connection to the server, but NEVER seems to connect, and no matter how long I leave it does NOT connect. It just sits there trying to connect while I use FF.

    Do a clean install (re)-:

    • Uninstall your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before installing this copy of the Firefox installer.
    • Do not remove the data of a personal nature if you uninstall the current version.
    • It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.

    Your bookmarks and other profile data is stored in the Firefox profile folder and will not be affected by a relocation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you uninstall Firefox.

    I am running in SafeMode right now and the operating system still collapsed. What is happening is a few minutes after logging in to my user account (I'm admin), I see a blue dump screen and then Windows restarts.

    I will now try to restore before the update (it was 4) and come back. I hope someone has some info...

    Vista Home Premium on a Pavilion dv6 notebook.

    Thank you.

    In addition to the system restore to remove update, try this.

    Also change the update settings to identify the problem of update.

    Click Start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window

    > then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it
    > Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".
    When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the update causing you problems.
