  • Emails sent via Thunderbird are not saved on the e-mail server.

I have a critical problem with the backup of the emails I sent to Thunderbird.

The application works very well, that everyone sent mail is correctly saved in the folder "sent" located in the e-mail account of TB.
The problem is that messages are not saved on the mail server associated with (in this case, pop.mail.yahoo.com), so whenever I have to reinstall the software, I lose all my outgoing emails. If I access my email on yahoo.com account and email from there, it is regularly saved in the sent folder there.

I would be grateful if someone could
    (i) say me if it is a known problem, and if there is a way to remedy through Thunberdird server or Composition settings.
(ii) if there is a way around the problem by saving the file 'sent' located in the Thunderbird mail folder on my HARD drive. Is it possible, after the reinstallation of the application, to paste the file sent to the Mail folder? And I want to save the "Sent.msf" file as well?

Thank you much for the help.

The problem is that messages are not saved on the mail server associated with (in this case, pop.mail.yahoo.com),.

With a POP account, this is the expected behavior. Only the Inbox folder is visible on the server, all the other files are the.
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/glossary-terms-including-types-accounts#w_pop

To access the other folders on the server, for example your sent folder, you need to configure your account as an IMAP account.
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/glossary-terms-including-types-accounts#w_imap

so whenever I have to reinstall the software, I lose all my outgoing emails.

You should not need to reinstall the software in the first place. And even if you do you will not lose any position, unless you deliberately remove your Thunderbird profile.
With pop, all mail is local to your computer, including the "sent" folder.

If there is a way around the problem by saving the file 'sent' located in the Thunderbird mail folder on my HARD drive.

In fact, you must back up the entire profile.

Is it possible, after the reinstallation of the application, to paste the file sent to the Mail folder?

As said before, nothing is lost when reinstalling the application. If you want to move to a new computer by simply moving the profile.

do I have to save the "Sent.msf" file as well?

If you want to backup files individual mail, you don't need to save the *.msf files. They are just the index files and contain no mail. They are rebuild automatically when you start Thunderbird.
In any case, to save the entire profile is the recommended method.

  • Why does one of my email accounts stopped storage of messages in the "sent" folder?

I have an iMac Apple OS x 10.8.5 and Thunderbird 24.5.0. The computer is configured for users of 2 - my wife and myself. I've set up for me with 3 e-mail accounts in Thunderbird, and my wife has 1 e-mail account. We use Thunderbird for several months without any major problems. All of a sudden today Outlook when my wife sent an e-mail via his account (Hotmail), it came with an error message saying that the message could not be sent. I have studied and found (by logging on Outlook) that the message had indeed been sent and showed upward in the Outlook sent folder, but not in the sent folder Thunderbird. After trying several messages test (with the same result), it is obvious that account Thunderbird to my wife is wrong to behave as described above. Then I tried my own account and was able to send emails using my Outlook account (Hotmail) normally. Messages have been saved in the "sent" folder as expected. I tried power off the computer and start again - no change - my installation of Thunderbird as it has done previously, but the installer of my wife no longer works as before.

It would seem therefore that the program itself is ok, but there is something wrong with the installation of my wife.

I have reviewed the content of both of our profile folders using Thunderbird's "Troubleshooting Information" to show each profile folder in the Finder.

When I drill down to the folders 'pop3.live.com', there is a difference between the content of these files. My "pop3.live.com" folder contains the files of document intended for "Drafts", "Inbox", "Sent", "Trash", etc... I can open and inspect the contents of these folders.

According to Finder "pop3.live.com" my wife folder contains Unix executable files rather than document files (they have all the names expected, just not the type of expected file and I can not open and inspect the contents of these folders).

This would explain the behavior described above and if so, how can it be solved? If this isn't the answer, can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks for the suggestion, Matt. Not long until I received your response, I have found a workaround. Compaction of all cases seems to have resolved.

  • When I send an email why I see two copies in my "sent" folder?

When I send an email why I see two copies in my "sent" folder?

Whenever I have send an email, two copies of that email are stored in my "sent" folder.
How can I fix this so that only one copy will my "sent" folder?

In the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button > Options > account settings > Copies and folders.
Uncheck "place a copy in the"sent"folder.

  • I do not see that the email has been sent to sent folder

I would like to see to whom I sent emails to my sent folder and cannot find a way to do
    can someone help me?

Do you mean that you can see the email in the "sent" folder but the recipient column does not appear?

If so, at the right end of the column header is a small icon. Click on this icon to get a list of columns possible. Click the recipient to activate it.

  • When I send an email, it will not put a copy in my "Sent" folder, can I fix?

I chose to put a copy in my "Sent" folder, and sometimes it goes right, blip, blip, almost instantly.
So most of the time he spends a couple of minutes putting a copy in the folder sent, said there was a mistake in doing so I want to "try again", but try even once, does not work. Don't try not only the way to get rid of the "write" page means. I hope someone knows how to fix it. I'd like to. She seems to have actually
sent the message, but no copy in the folder sent to make sure of that. If I put my own address with another email Manager and checked the Bcc, I get the message sent, but still no copy in my sent folder. I'm doing something wrong? Thanks, D.Fox

I have a solution. I continued to watch and try different things. I had chosen the choice by default to "place a copy in: [my e-mail account].» Finally I found at the end of the 'box', arrow down and he opened other choices. It is accessible in this way: click your e-mail account; Accounts; View the settings for this account; Copies & folders; (checked) Place a copy in: [now, do not select the default, but go down, it opens a drop-down menu which includes 'Local Folders'] check that line. (I did have a "Sent" folder under my local files. BUT the next time I "sent" e-mail, it created the "sent" folder and make a copy that is. Not being not too fast, I guess that makes me the 'server' and only on my local files. In any case, I now get a 'Copy' of all sent email and that soon. I recommend trying it to see if it solves your problem too! Hope it will be useful to others. Thank you, all... D.Fox

  • How to save Email saved in a folder on the hard disk

I recently installed Thunderbird on my computer in the hope of being able to transfer Gmail emails saved in a folder on my hard drive. I used to be able to do this directly in Outlook by multiple email selection, right click "send as attachment" to myself, then download them and recording them all in a regulatory filing.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

  • Email sent using gmail pop, while on outlook express 6 is checked in to the gmail server sent the file, but not on my express outlook sent folder.

Original title: problem with outlook express 6 and gmail

Email sent using gmail pop, while on outlook express 6 is checked in to the gmail server sent the file, but not on my express outlook sent folder.  How can I have email sent appear in Outlook express 6 sent folder.  I put it as pop not imap

    Any suggestions?

Check in OE under Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties and ensure that it is not set to IMAP.  It seems to me that if you use IMAP folders.  If it isn't, in addition to the suggestion of Umesh, you can try to go to file | Identities and install a new identity and add your POP3 account and see if it works very well.

  • When I send an email, it appears in my own Inbox and not the sent folder.

When I send an email, it appears in my own Inbox and not the sent folder.  Even if the box is checked, staging elements to move to the folder sent sent.  Any thoughts?

Go to file | Identities and establish a new identity.  Then add your e-mail account.  When this works, then use a file | Import messages to import from the old identity.

If you do not OE, then after return e-mail you what program use.

  • Sent messages appear twice in the "Sent" folder

Whenever I'm using Thunderbird 38.1 on Windows 10 to send a message, the message is saved twice in the "Sent" folder I don't have an account with Thunderbird. If I delete this message, the single message sent is displayed twice in the folder "deleted".

Also, is it possible for me to get rid of the files the? I never got a message in them, and I see no need of them. If they are useful, can I at least integrate with records above them, which contain all messages on my email account?

    1. it is indeed a problem with outlook.com.

Simply right-click on the account in the folders pane and select settings.
Copies and records say Thunderbird does not make a copy of the mail sent anywhere.

    2. that depends on your account is IMAP or pop.

    • If it's POP, you can combine

In the account settings > server settings > select advanced use global inbox instead of the Inbox for this account.
Note in this case to any mail account records in local folders first that account records will be more visible after the change.

    • If IMAP is all I can suggest use unified folders view. This is the view (alt + V) menu > folders > unified.

Local folders are local storage. In the case of an IMAP account, it is very important. Move messages to local folders removes the mail from the server, so you can archive mail on your computer you want is no longer online. You can also use local folders to make copies of important mail if you have two chances to lose.

  • not sent folder

I recently had problems with my 2nd email account and deleted and reconfigure this account. I decided to move from a POP to an IMAP account. That everything has worked well, except for the fact that I have more access to my "Sent" folder He is not among my files. In "Account settings", I'm set up to save a copy of the messages in the folder sent in this account, and I don't get a progress bar to show that my messages are saved in the sent folder, but I can't find the folder sent anywhere. Any ideas?

Sent folder isn't after all - I was looking at the records inherited from my old OE import. Screw it. I reinstalled as a POP account and I use Mozbackup. Problem solved.
