Automatic failover SyncRep

Hello!

I tried to find out if SyncRep supports automatic failover. So far I have not found a definitive answer, and I was hoping someone could help me to answer this questions

Best regards

Kim

Hello, Kim.

SyncRep does not currently automatic failover.

Kind regards

Don

    + It is not particularly over a certain period, as at the end of week or Monthened.

  • Automatic failover with Transport and apply Lag fails with ORA-16798

    Hello
    I configured a physical database maximum Performance, accelerated failover mode standby. I set FastStartFailoverLagLimit to 3 hours (10800 seconds).

    If I understand the Oracle documentation, Fast-Start failover should work with Max Performance, as long the Transport timeout is whithin the FastStartFailoverLagLimit.

    So I started a few scripts, generated some loading, so I have a Transport and apply the shift of 3-4 Minutes.
    Then I killed pmon to cause an automatic failover.

    Failover failed with ORA-16798.

    I know, there is Note 846087.1 , which describes the problem, but I thought that automatic failover should work in this configuration.
    Is this a bug or am I wrong?

    Thank you very much in advance.

    The FastStartFailoverLagLimit property specifies the amount of data, in seconds, during which the standby database target can

    delay on the main database on the recovery plan applied. If again applied Eve point database notes that many

    seconds of the primary database redo point generation, accelerated tipping is allowed.

    Errors show a gap for sequences 34-37, which is not optimal for a fast failover.

    Even if FastStartFailoverLagLimit is set to 3 hours, there is too much data loss for the standby site because newspapers are not available on the backup server and the Broker cannot activate the Pb of the day before.

    I recommend to to lean on increase the bandwidth network.

    Hi oraman,

    You can check the broker for this config. Connect to the database with dgmgrl and get the config database:

    See the verbose XXX database;

    The parameter 'StaticConnectIdentifier' will tell you what data Guard Broker expects to find when it needs to restart a database. You must create a static entry to the listener with the service_name in this setting.

    Make sure you have the "SERVER = DEDICATED" in the connection string. If you set this explicit, default oracle shared a connection via the server connection, which could cause your question.

  • Storage vMotion allows automatic failover to the replicated copy?

    With vSphere replication allow "Storage vMotion" automatic failover to the copy replicated in case of a failure of the data store?

    Trying to figure out a solution where if A SAN fails, we can install SAN B to pick up without any interruption of service.

    Welcome to the community - Storage vMotion does not provide this type of functionality, you will need to get to the VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM), but it will be some time - failure

  • Automatic failover

    In a tightly controlled environment, where very little changes - Protection groups are static and the unique Recovery Plan is well defined - is it possible to automatically run the Recovery Plan if the instantiation of the right conditions can be measured/quantified? With PowerShell example?

    I know there are risks with this approach and war business vs. technical to set and meet the RTOS will be delivered on time.

    I'm just curious to know if this is possible and how it could be achieved. Either way, a layer of virtualized storage is not an option.

    TIA,

    I'll tell you it's impossible...

    I was talking with Carter Shaklin (MP for VMware PowerCLI) on what tasks could be automated with powershell for MRS.

    I take it a good sign that VMware begins the process of powershell enabling their products to senior management as they did with ESX/vCenter.

    I would be VERY surprised to see this SDK for MRS. result would expose to ordinary users object/properties/methods required to actually trigger an execution of a DR plan. I think that VMware remained engaged in the position that order to issue a 'GO' on the DR plan will require high-level approval of management of class C first...

    If you are looking for something that would allow an automatic failover - really watch you any other 3rd party sellers availability products that allow you to create emotionally a "stretched" cluster The problem with these technicians, is that they are NOT designed for multisite DR, but the failure of a component - such as the death of a host or VM...

  • By comparing the different editions for an automatic failover

    Hi all

    I need to select a product of virtualization to a new project (VMware, Microsoft or Citrix). I did a lot of reading and I'm leaning towards VMware but I'm worried about the cost. The condition is to have two host computers physical (for redundancy) connected to an external storage with the possibility of performing automatic failover, while if one host fails other pics upwards. I also need to be able to back up the entire configuration, including all the VMS tape so that I can recover if the whole system is out of service.

    My question is that the high availability feature that is included in the Standard edition can do, or if I should also get the functionality DRS and VMotion which are only in the Enterprise edition.

    Kind regards

    No interruption of service there is nothing from now...

    HA will ensure that your virtual machines are fed to another node in a cluster, HA has allowed, in case of failure of the host or an isolated situation. HA may also be able to on a VM when VM honor as a characteristic of expermintal.

    DRS will be dynamically balancing the resources in the cluster and the availability of resources for each virtual computer.

    vMotion is a live migration of a virtual machine in a cluster or farm of hosts with compitable CPUs. But the ESX Server hosting work inorder to facilitate a vMotion of a VM.

    SVMotion is a live migration of a virtual machine in data warehouses, such as local storage storage SAN/iSCSI based, while the virtual machine is still in service.

    SRM is the site recovery Manager, which allows you to switch to another site in the same set site is inaccessible.

    Fault tolerance is the next feature that allows you to run your H/W failure continuously, without interruption of service in case of VMs or any other type of failure of the host.

    For now, you should be good with the standard edition, which supports H, since no interruption of service, it is not what you are looking for immediately.

    I hope this helps.

  • Automatic failover of server, not exactly by using CSS to load balancing?

    Hello

    I investigated the use of the unique CSS11501 box to meet a specific requirement of customers for what follows.

    A sticky connection to a Winframe Cluster(client side) to a backend via a VIP web servers. The reason for the sticky connection with the main server is that there are additional servers providing services to two servers independent backend web service VIP.

    Most traffic on the client side will come to a limited set of ip addresses (or maybe even one) that represents the many winframe unique sessions i.e.unique browser sessions. I think that this can be achieved by using Cookies. Is this OK and there at - it another way to do this?

    In the background that VIP must use only the web server main, even though he is active/available, but have the ability to switch automatically to a second server, if one breaks down.

    I believe that it is possible to use a script or the HTTP protocol in the service keepalive. My question is what balancing method can be used to achieve this type of active / standby (HSRP) as a feature on the CCS for Services (Servers) attached?

    Thanks in advance,

    Regan

    Regan,

    1 cookie should be used to stickyness if ip addresses is not allowed.

    2 check the functionality of the backend I'm sorry.

    This allows you to configure the normal servers [or one] who will receive all traffic and if they are all declining, the sorry server will be used.

    So in your case, the backup server will be defined as server sorry.

    The command you need is primary sorryserver under the definition of the content rule.

    Kind regards

    Gilles.

    If the primary database crashed, I'm afraid that you shouldn't wait of database failover, the digital switchover.

    The step for your reference:

    failover

    1. get the waking state, SELECT database NAME, RESETLOGS_TIME, LOG_MODE, OPEN_MODE, PROTECTION_MODE, REMOTE_ARCHIVE, DATABASE_ROLE, SWITCHOVER_STATUS, FORCE_LOGGING FROM v$ database;

    2 stop repeat applies: ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE CANCEL;

    3. stop the redo log transpotision:ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED standby DATABASE FORCE FINISH;

    4. transition to the primary role: ALTER DATABASE COMMIT to the PRIMARY WITH the SESSION STOP CROSSING;

    5. open the database: ALTER DATABASE OPEN;

  • Vista automatic failover

    Attempt #1: My computer froze, I stopped him.  When I restarted it, it is impossible to load windows.  Instead of loading, I came to the Acer Empowering screne then the windows error recovery screne.  He is gone to start window repair and tried to auto repair.  Now I'm waiting... 8 minutes later Auto start, micorsoft screne with green bar.  Then black screne and that's all she wrote.

    Attempt # 2: I'll restart in safe mode. In the advanced boot option, I selected restart in safe mode. Loading the screne drivers then black scene, mouse pointer I moveit autour. Journal of the screne window I get pasword it goes to the start menu button visible from vista Home premium welcome screne but I can't access it. The 'hour glass' circle does not move and I'm waiting for... 15 minutes nothing happens.

    The #3 attempt: the safe mode with network. Repeat every attempt #2 loading drivers at a standstill screne

    Attempt #4 I give up Please HELP.

    Follow the instructions to make a repair disk Bootable Vista, to do a startup repair.

    If this does not work, follow the Acer info on how to do the eRecovery back to factory settings:

    As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.

    If yours falls into the category above, download the ISO on the link provided and make a bootdisk of it.

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

    You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.

    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

    It's a very good Vista repair disc.

    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

    There is not a disk of resettlement.

    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

  • A question about Automatic Client failover

    Hello everyone

    My question is this:

    What are the versions of the client which supports automatic failover of Client in a Configuration of data protection?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello;

    It goes back at least 8.0:

    8.0.x - 8.1.x: example configuration of failover (TAF) transparent Application on UNIX [69745.1 ID]

    I don't remember much of Oracle 7.

    H3. But then, that's why exist databases.

    Oracle fail Security Concepts and Administration Guide version 3.2.1 for Windows NT and Windows 2000 A95194-01

    Not sure it confirms more than 8 but at some point, no matter his more long than the Oracle, the operating system software and hardware is all desupported. In addition, they will not work with something new.

    Best regards

    I configured dedicated management interface. When I disconnect the management on the active controller port, it is not automatically switch to the management port on the controller to start (as a port 10 GB of data). Please guide me how to do this fail over automatically.

    Hello

    There is no automatic failover with dedicated Mgmt ports.  You will need to either restore a connectivity or a failover on the other controller.

  • Windows Vista startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically

    The issue takes place at the start.  The computer go directly into Startup Repair, which finally returns the message above.  It allows me to report the problem or not and then proceeds to close.  What can I do?

    You can try this:

    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.

    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.
    There is no Vista free download legal available.
    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
    They will tell you how to do this.
    Every computer manufacturer has their way of doing recovery disk/s.
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Data recovery:
    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.
    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.
    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:
    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html
    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

    Download the Vista software from the link above.

    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

    See you soon.
