automatic installation of update I forgot all my open tabs

Firefox just missed an automatic update. When it restarted, he forgot all my open tabs. I do not have the tab "Restore last Session" usual allows me to take all my previous tabs.

So I lost hours of research and excavations. Is it possible to obtain these previous tabs? Is there a way to reverse the update to return to the previous version of Firefox and come back on these tabs?

It's already happened and it's very frustrating. My brother recommended that I start to use Chrome because it boasts a location to always open the last open tabs.

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can check the Firefox profile folder to see if there are files of sessionstore-# .js [3] file with several current.

  • Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: opens showing the file

If you see one with a date and time to an integer that updated / restart, and then try to rename the sessionstore.js file to see if it brings back the session.

  • How can I disable the automatic installation of updates for Vista?

    HP Pavilion dv2 laptop... Vista

  • System restarts to step 3 of 3 during the automatic installation of updates under Vista SP1

    Hello

Yesterday, one of my colleagues brought their personal PC for me to understand why it no longer starts. Although it is usually against the Protocol of our Ministry to work on personal computers, it was slow so I proposed to go ahead and spend time looking inside and have spent since 9 hours trying to figure out how to recover system to it's unusable. The problem seems to be related to allowing them to Windows Update to download and install the files. If the system is booted normally or in a Safe Mode option, the same screen appears when the installation program configures the installation and then progresses to step 3 of 3, rest at 0%, then restarts.

They are running Vista Home Premium SP1 (by the system recovery disk, they gave me), but because the operating system is part of a rather autonomous recovery disk, I can't any disk to work to allow me to go to a previous restore point or run the system repair utility. I'm continually prompted with a message indicating the version that I am trying to fix is not identical to the version that I am trying to repair it with. I downloaded a Vista Home Premium SP1 recovery via the torrent drive and he engraved on a dvd and started for her to get the same result. I don't want to run the recovery disk because, like everyone else, they have personal information they want to keep it on the computer, only they do not know where it is stored exactly or what files they need.

Someone has any ideas on what I can do to get system restore to a previous point, before updates occurred or am I hosed on get this resolved for everyone's taste?

The PC model in question is an Asus CS5111.

    Thank you
    Gabe

    Hello again,

I found out part of my problem, well well, everything, but it didn't end well. It turns out that none of the recovery disks would work it's because this version of Vista is 64 bit, but because it was not labeled as such anywhere, I just assumed it was 32-bit. Because I didn't have the 64-bit versions of Options recovery system is not compatible with Windows 32-bit files, I lost a lot of time without good reason. After downloading a 64-bit recovery disc, I got in the fine System Recovery Options. However, that computer has no restore points on the hard drive for the restoration of the system was not an option. In the end, I had to format/reinstall but the shenanigans of 64/32 bit mismatch has been the main obstacle in knowledge I had no way to fix the problem in any case.

    Thanks again for your help!

  • Why Windows Vista Home Premium squeeze all my open tabs in the right side of the taskbar?

Normally, the tabs open or reduced are distributed on the task bar, which allows you to see about 8 or nine tabs in the taskbar. Recently, however, they all push in the far right of the taskbar, allowing two only is visible at a time. If I opened more than two, I have to click a scroll button to scroll through my tabs. Why is this happen and how can I get back to normal?

  • Thunderbird updated and closes all open tabs.

I often keep an e-mail tab opened as a reminder until I Act on it. Sometimes I'll have 10 or so tabs open at the same time.
Yesterday, I left the House for several hours, leaving my computer. When I got home, the Thunderbird and Firefox have been closed. They are open, when I left.
When I open Thunderbird, all my open tabs were closed. I have no idea what they were and I could not find any list of recently closed tabs, so I could resume. I can only assume that an update took place in my absence and this is what has been charged to close Thunderbird.
This used to happen with Firefox, sometimes after a update but you seem to have fixed that. Please correct Thunderbird so that it never closes tabs open.
    Thank you
    Bill

Bottom line is direct of tabs in a file called session.json. All sorts of personal information and the tools of type 'acceleration' remove this information caching. One of the really popular is CCleaner. In the case of Firefox, they have an additional backups they can restore from, but it's only a matter of time before these same tools. but in the case of Thunderbird feature is somewhat reduced. Manly, I think because nobody at the time thought people came to rely on the tabs. In the underlying code, the tabs are messy and really large parts of 'vision' expect more attention. Thunderbird actually has only one and the rest is smoke and mirrors where my questions specific re long-term reliability. Dial in a tab can see more work on the part of the tab of the interface to make it more robust.

Having said that I had problems with Firefox in the very recent past, but I also run nightly compilations expect so most people never see questions. (Testing takes many forms.)

Make your own backup of the session.json file is a workaround if you feel strongly enough, but personally I think that saved search folders and tags are an arrangement much better that most IMAP servers come with your tags appear on other devices as well.

    My opinion is.
Mail tag as ' to do '.
    Open find Ctrl + Shift + F
criteria a search, for tags contains ' to ' set the folder and subfolder to find
Click on search to make sure that your criteria works, and then click on save in the search folder.
Thunderbird now has a new record that contains only your mails containing the tag "to do." Search folders are a uses significantly less characteristic (probably because no one knows they exist), but they do a lot of business functions much easier. (they are what underlies the folder "unified" view {view menu > folders > unified} a collection of search folders.)

  • Help the clean installation of Windows 7 Pro and using the GPO to run automatic updates and restart all night

I am trying to solve a problem that will probably require a new installation of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. The grace period ends in 3 days, and the next 30 days are final exams at the College. I have 2 licenses (and product key) of Windows 7 Pro, but my drive HARD goes wrong and I don't want to use MAK activation. I will be eventually to replace the disk, but is now bad timing.

If a reinstall is needed, I was going to ask if anyone knows how to set the strategy of perhaps a GPO where Windows is updated automatically in the background and after installing updates, 45 or 60 minutes, then restart. The goal would be to have a computer fully patched when I wake up in the morning.

    This is my plan:

Install Windows 7 Pro SP1 64 bit > Windows automatically updated and plug the Ethernet cable > define a GPO where the computer waiting for 45 to 60 minutes after installation of updates (so the msi may end in the background, and I do not interrupt the installation) > the PC will restart > more update swill be downloaded and installed > wait due to the policy of GPO before reboot > Reboot > do it until it's over. > wake up with a PC fully patched 7-9 hours later.

Is this a workable plan?, and if so, how do I define policies such as delay restarting, etc. to achieve?

The reset did not work. It would be a simple solution. I have a valid license, but I don't want to replace the HARD drive until after final exams are over, so I'll reinstall and activate. I try to achieve in the next 24 hours, so it doesn't keep me from my school work.  I must also support and will then replace my files.

Feel free to advanced used terminology. I have some experience.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Another question: should I install a security suite before all updates being installed more than 12 hours, or wait until later? What is the level of risk?

Anyone used Ninite to automate the installation of other programs? Is how safe it?

    Thank you!

  • System restored automatically after the installation of updates & a few missing desktop icons.

Original title: same set of updates on both computers due to different problems, one problem being a system restore.

I have two Windows 7 computers in my house.  They all have two problems after installing updates a month ago.  The problem for 'Computer 1' is a bigger problem than the problem of the "Computer 2".  2 computer problem not really seems to be a problem now, but I'll give you the information for comparison purposes. Sorry for the length of this post - I am trying to be thorough.

    1 COMPUTER DETAILS:

News of the computer: Dell Studio 1745 laptop computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, six months at the time of the problem, now age of seven months. It came with Norton pre-installed, never used and uninstalled.  Trend Micro Internet Security installed at the beginning of the use of the computer.  Analyses Micro trend came clean.

Background: set up with a single account (Administrator, of course) and after a few days of putting in place computer, said ale user account for everyday use.  Computer is configured to warn me before downloading/installation of updates of Windows, with permission for each type of account to install Windows updates.

While in the standard account, I welcomed these download/install updates and was prompted to restart the computer.  I was done with the computer, so I just closed instead of restart.  According to "Your update history Review", it's updates and they were all successful:

    Update for Windows 7 for x 64-based systems (KB980846)
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile for Windows 7 x 64-based Systems (KB982670)
    Update for Windows 7 for x 64-based systems (KB982519)
    Update Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 for x 64 systems (KB982526)
Cumulative update for Media Center for Windows 7 x 64-based Systems (KB981078)

After you turn on computer back, everything seemed normal.  I opened Firefox and I got a notice that Firefox has an update is available, a standard user cannot.  Unlike some programs, there is no popup to sign as an administrator, so I went to start > switch user and signed as an administrator.  (There was no update of Firefox at this point - just a switch single user.) That's where the problem appeared: instead of normally load the admin Office, I had to wait while Windows configured my desk (it's new)... wait... wait... wait... wait... BAM!  Your computer has been successfully restored * insert date here * (I don't remember what it was - January of this year, perhaps - because I was so incredulous that it happened and I continued to watch the game "successfully restored").  I do not have the computer to eat, and it don't has not asked me if I wanted to restore it.  He just did, just on its own initiative, when I went on the admin account.  A bunch of shortcut icons are missing from the Office of the admin acct and the ACCT. standard, and wallpaper to the admin account has been changed.  I am not absolutely sure if nothing else was touched.

I have searched online to try to understand why it happened, and I remember well from my only find, is that if I went to the restoration of the system, there will be an option to cancel it, but I don't see such an option. So I told the computer to eat on a few days to a week before that updates.  It doesn't seem to help.  Shortcut icons are still missing.  Looked at the update history and it shows the five latest updates as being installed successfully, but Windows Update tells me that I need to these five updates AND this time, the little check marks are only already there on four of the five updates listed.  (The first time, the little checkmarks were already there for all five.)  This is the update that is NOT now pre-checked:

Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile for Windows 7 x 64-based Systems (KB982670)

Do not reinstall the five updates.  I don't know if I should jump install them again, or if I should install only the
now, four are already "pre-checked."  I'm very hesitant to install KB982670, because this update seems to be the likely cause of the problem given the fact that it is already pré-coché in the Windows and the following information updates for computer 2.

Since I installed the latest updates for 1 computer with no apparent problems:

    X 64-July Windows malicious software removal tool (KB890830) 2010
Update security for Windows 7 for x 64-based systems (KB2032276)

    NEWS ON COMPUTER 2:

The computer news: Systemax desktop running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, a month at the time of the problem, now age of two months.  It has not come with any pre-installed antivirus.  Trend Micro Internet Security installed at the beginning of the use of the computer.  Analyses Micro trend came clean.

Reminder: Set up immediately with an admin account and a standard account for everyday use.  Computer has been set to automatically download and install updates for Windows, but is about to inform me first.

At the time of the problem above with the laptop, desktop computer has been enabled.  As all loading,.
an error message came that there was some kind of issue with the .NET framework.  At another person asked if he knew what was up with that, and it didn't.  Did not note the specific message, thinking he would tell me again if there was a real problem.  I thought it could have been some kind of Windows hiccups when starting the computer, not even knowing about update problems.  I have yet to see this message.  After the number of laptop (computer 1), I took a peek at the desktop computer (computer 2) to check that Windows Update and I saw that an update is available, which is the referenced above same update that the notebook had already the check mark in its box (KB982670), which gives me the choice to check the little to install it.  Very curious, since, as already mentioned, the computer has been configured to automatically download and install Windows updates.  Looked at the update history, and it has already downloaded and installed the other four updates that the laptop has been.  Changed the automatic Windows Update setting to warn me before you download and install updates.  I have not installed the missing update.  Said the only other person in the House who would probably bother install updates to not install it.

A month later, 2 computer has a notification from Windows update that 21 or 22 updates are available (as a result, by clicking on the icon of the trial of Microsoft Office).  The update not installed a month ago is no longer on the list, and update history shows as having been installed a few days before, apparently because someone else in the House must have thought it looked like a good idea.  I installed all the 'important' updates and have not seen any more problems with computer 2.

    BACK TO THE COMPUTER 1:

Yes, is there anyone with ideas on how to get 1 computer back to its state before the 5 updates listed above, and what to do about to reinstall some or all of them, I hope, without more problems, for example a random food system does not happen?  I have a feeling I will say that the random system restoration do not occur, but he did.

    Thanks for any help.

No, I don't use the Norton removal tool.

    IN RE COMPUTER 1 ONLY:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

  • How to reinstall sound Unimodem driver without reversing the BCM 56 K Modem update Windows automatically installs?

I am using Microsoft Windows XP Professional, version 2002, Service Pack 3.

I recently reinstalled my operating system on my Dell Dimension 2400 PC and allowed for automatic updates.  Previously I did not allow updates.  I use very slow dial-up on a BCM 56 k

Voice/Fax/Modem.  My previous connection was about 26 Kbps.

During updates of Windows XP, Microsoft notified me of the update following software:

(Broadcom Corporation - Modems - BCM. v92 56 k Modem, size: 2.8 MB, Broadcom Corporation modem software update published on August 27, 2003.) only the Microsoft Update downloaded and installed on my PC.

After the installation of update BCM, my modem went much more quickly in about 40 Kbps, however, I lost the Unimodem half-duplex audio driver configuration.

After the automatic BCM update, my modem sounds is the audio connection as he had done before.

I checked and the following driver files still exist where they belong: [C:\Windows\system32\drivers\ks.sys; C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\MODEMCSA.sys; C:\Windows\system32\ksproxy.AX; C:\Windows\system32\kuser.dll], however registration is missing in browser, under 'Sound, video and game controllers' Device Manager where it was previously before the upgrade.

How can I reinstall my audio Unimodem half duplex driver without roll back my BCM upgrade?

My audio driver is not my problem.  The speaker still works in my Modem when I have dial-up.  Otherwise, the rest of my sound works fine, so I don't think I need an audio driver.  What's missing on my upgrade was my driver for unimodem half duplex, and everything remained the same after the upgrade.

Here's what's happening.   Often, I reinstall my OS together by formatting my hard drive.  After the initial installation and install the drivers for Dell provided, my modem works fine, but at a slower speed.  When I switched I hear the dial through my external speakers, which I prefer because I have restriction of hearing Audio and can hear it better amplified by the modem speaker.

When I install the update to windows BCM, it accelerates the rate of transfer of my modem, I like, but it removes my driver audio unimodem half duplex, which means I can hear is no longer my dial-up connection to know everything is going well.  The sound comes directly to my modem card, however, due to the location under my desk, my PC I can barely hear the connection is established and can not use this sound for diagnostic purposes if I can't connect.  It allows to hear the connection to remind me in case the line is disconnected or the phone company disconnects and provides their voicemail automated on how to restore our service.

I just want to still hear my modem amplified through my external speakers without losing speed BPS who provided me the upgrade.

Not yet tried to use the dell service tag for Dell drivers.  Don't know how to specify this tag, or if it would provide other drivers that I already downloaded, but will check the next.

In the meantime if anyone has a useful answer as to how I can get my external returning without sacrificing my BPS speed increase, I would like to hear it.

Thanks for all the answers everyone, even if for the time being not useful yet.

I don't think that it is half-duplex driver Unimode (even if I'm wrong).  My XP3 box has a Unimodem full-duplex audio driver "" list in the device under ' Audio, video and game controllers' Manager, and I've never had the modem sounds come through the main speakers.  [The difference between "half-duplex" and "full-duplex" is if you wait until a part expresses before the start of the other or if both parties can talk at the same time.]

Rather, apparently some - but far from everything - modem drivers have a checkbox somewhere in the modem properties dialog box (accessed through Device Manager or control panel > modems Options and) who runs the sound of the system's external speakers.

While you're in the control panel > phone and Modem Options, click on the "Advanced" tab and check the Unimodem 5 Service provider is installed.  It must have been installed by default, but if not, you might want to add (using the 'Add' button).

I suspect that your previous modem driver - which limited the speed of your connection - had the external speaker box, but that the new driver - who has more speed - connect does not work.

It is probably not very satisfactory, but you can increase the volume of the tiny speaker of the modem (a little) by using the "Additional initialization commands" box in the "Advanced tab" in the modem properties dialog box.  There are two relevant orders, the order of M (which determines when the speaker is on) and the command L (which sets the volume of the speaker):

    M0 speaker always off [that's a zero]
M1 Speaker is activated when the modem is off the hook and the carrier is not detected. [default]
M2 The speaker is always on.
M3 Speaker is activated after dialing the ends and turns off when the carrier negotiation is complete.

    L0 low volume
    L1 low volume
    L2 medium volume
    High volume of L3

Orders are entered, preceded by "AT" (without the quotes) in the box "Additional initialization commands", and there is no spaces.  Thus, for example, if you want to hear the sounds, most at very high volume (which unfortunately is usually not very high), you define L3 and M3 by entering the following text in the box:

    ATL3M3

With regard to the number of Dell's Service: on the page linked in my previous post, there is a link "enter serial number".  If you click on this link there is a box to enter your Dell service tag (and yet another link to tell you how to find if you don't know where it is).  Dell uses the "service tag" to identify your specific computer hardware configuration, because the same model Dell (e.g., Dimension 2400) can come with a variety of different hardware options.  Using the service tag is supposed to customize the material presented to you so that it is applicable to your computer.

Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer on your modem sounds.

    Hello.

You can find these users in the FND_USER table, like other users of applications but you won't find them in the form of users.
There are users are used by the Oracle installation/upgrade process / patch.
