Automatic selection problem Inspiron 6400 Audio input

At the beginning, when pluging microphone or line-in for entry level jacket, the system would pop up, an input switch, asking me if it was microphone or line. He has stopped that for some time now. I have had no cause of problems, I just used the microphone, but now I want to record from a device external and it just will not work.

I tried to select through recording Volume (Windows XP) but when I select LINE IN it just will not save anything. And if I select the Microphone, with the external audio gets saturated even with boost off (and the external device's display at the right level)

I need a way to tell the computer I am pluging LINE IN if she allows the entrance to the lower level of GPA while selecting the RECORDING VOLUME online

Help, please. Thank you.

Hello. To test the headphone switch the native Windows audio driver Realtek audio driver.

    1. open Device Manager (type devmgmt.msc in the box of Windows search).
    2. develop the 'audio controllers, video & game' and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".
3 Select this option to "Update driver software".
    4. click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
    5. click on "Let Me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".
    6. put the "Show compatible hardware" check box if not already checked.
    7. in the list of devices, click on 'High Definition Audio"(native driver).
    8. click on "next".
    9. in the update driver warning box, click 'Yes' (the driver).
10 restart the portable computer if you are prompted. If not invited, so no need to restart.
[To return to the Realtek driver, do it again but reverse the names in steps 1-6.]

If it is still bubbling even with the native driver, test by using other headphones. If still no luck then probably hardware failure. Contact technical support for warranty repair.

If it works fine with the native driver, then the Realtek driver is buggy. Try a different version of the driver. If you need help with this answer comes back with the full model name (something like "Inspiron 11 3147", etc.) and which operating system there.

  • No Audio - Inspiron 6400

    Hello

I'm running an Inspiron 6400 (old, but * mainly * still works) and recently (for a few weeks) the sound has stopped working completely. I can't do audio speakers or headphones.

Using audio players, if I try to read a file, the program will become numb and I have to leave. If I try to play a video, that is to say: on Youtube, the video will play without audio or won't play at all.

Another thing to note: I dual boot Windows 7 and Linux. At the time where the sound has stopped working in Windows, I found it was also broken on Linux too, which initially led me to believe that it was a hardware problem, but after reinstallation of the operating system Linux sound on there started to work again. My only other thought is that the problem might be a level to the top of the BONE, but I don't want to take the risk of bricking my laptop computer with a BIOS flash at this point.

Any thoughts would be appreciated :)

but after the reinstallation of the operating system Linux sound there started to work again.

Hello. Sorry for the delay in responding.

If it doesn't work under Linux then it is not a hardware failure. You can try to install a driver audio Sigmatel (Vista version).

Download the driver and extract the files (unzip or decompress and take note of the name of the folder created) but cancel the installation process. Go to the folder on the hard disk to which you have unpacked the driver files
    c:\Dell\Drivers\Rxxxxxx

Find the setup.exe file and right-click on it. Select Properties. Find the Compatibility tab and select Vista.

Note that there are some audio software Creative Labs available on Inspiron 6400 support page. If you never tried and cannot install this software before you install a driver Sigmatel audio no longer works in Windows because of the failure of a service. There is a fix available if that is the case.

I don't want to take the risk of bricking my laptop with a flash of the BIOS at this stage.

I don't blame you, and also if the audio allows you to work with your version of BIOS it should still work unless you have changed your cpu. But if you wish, you can contact a Dell employee via hours and get him or tell him you upgrade the BIOS. If the Dell motherboard brick it will fix as long you have the evidence to be directed to Dell.

  • Problem with my Audio (DELL Inspiron 15 3521)

Respected by all, I buy all new Dell Inspiron 15 3521 laptop 2 months ago. It was working great. A few days ago, the "Windows updates installed". and then I am facing problem in my Audio. When I start my laptop, within 5 minutes the sound stop working without giving me any message. When I disable Audio and activate again "Device Manager", he began to work, and then it works until the computer is turned off again. When I shut down my laptop and restart. the same problem occurs. I re - install Audio driver, but the problem persists. Please help me in this regard.

    Thank you

There was a recent update of Windows that causes havoc widespread with audio. I suggest you try the solutions for this first before trying other things. Here are the 2 solutions the members of the forum have reported so far.

    ===========================================================================

    1ST SOLUTION POSSIBLE
Countiss Forum member wrote that it is because of Microsoft...

"KB2962407 update, stipulating that she fixed"Shortcut autonomy when an inactive audio device is not turned off on a computer running Windows". ".
You don't have to do a restore of the system to get rid of updates; easier to go to Windows Update, view update history. On the top of this screen, click installed updates. "Then comes the with button the update you want to uninstall."

    =============================================================================

    2ND SOLUTION POSSIBLE
Natakuc4 forum Member says update to Windows 8.1 will fix it. He wrote:

"Ii you still on Windows 8.0." You should switch from 8.0 to 8.1 Windows Windows. See the instructions here:
    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-Microsoft-Windows-and-Office/Download-Microsoft-Windows/upgrading-to-Windows-8-1-from-Windows-8-0-via-the-Microsoft-store/
Uninstall the audio and video drivers before the update. After the update, uninstall the network drivers and chipset and get drivers Windows 8.1 (WB64A).. »

You can get the drivers that he mentions, either from the support page for your model once you select 8.1 as the operating system in the area of selection, or you can get the Dell ftp server, where they are named 'WB64A' and 'WB32A', which means 8.1 64 bit and 32 bit.

  • Problem with DELL Inspiron 3521 audio!

    Hello

I bought this laptop DELL Inspiron 3521 sometimes back and I am facing a problem with the audio. I had the experience that I use only. Audio keeps switching from left to right and sometimes works only on one side. Initially, I thought that it was a problem with my headphones but I tried with several headphones and still I have experienced the same problem. But the speakers of the laptop works very well. Could this be a problem with the audio port? Can someone help me on this.

    Thank you

Could this be a problem with the audio port?

Hello, Daniel. How to determine who must pass the native Windows audio driver Realtek audio driver. If you don't have the driver from Realtek, you can get it from the Inspiron 3521 support page.

    1. open Device Manager (type devmgmt.msc in the box of Windows search).
    2. develop the 'audio controllers, video & game' and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".

If the headphone does not work correctly when you use the Realtek or driver audio native then it's a hardware problem.

If it works fine with the native driver but not the Realtek driver, then the Realtek driver is buggy. In this case let me know which operating system your laptop and I'll see if there is a Realtek driver different, that you can use.

  • I have a DELL Inspiron 6400 running Windows Vista. The backlight turns off.

I have a DELL Inspiron 6400 running Windows Vista. The backlight turns off when the charger is plugged after about 10 to 15 minutes. If I shine a torch on the screen, I see about the display is always. If I select change user from the menu start or stop / restart the machine, the backlight turns on and will last for another 10 to 15 minutes. I tried in safe mode and the same thing happens. Can someone help me with this problem?

It could be the inverter Board or the backlight itself on the way to the outside. Whatever it is, it is definitely a hardware problem and it will take a good repairman to fix. You can contact Dell and see what they would charge to fix this, just to see if it would be more cost-effective to buy a new laptop or have it repaired. Because it is 5 years since it is manufacturing, you can be better to save your pennies for a new :-(

  • 550-215na Pavilion: no sound from the rear audio input jack

    Hello

I recently bought a new PC and I immediately ran into an audio problem that I can't understand. I get no sound at all from the rear audio input jack. I'm getting sound before making, and the plug rear mic works. When I plug something into the rear socket, a message appears grateful that there is something. When I checked the sound settings while it is plugged into the rear outlet, the equalizer is moving, which indicates that he gets his. But nothing comes out when I plug headphones or speakers in. I can exclude a fault with the speakers and the headphones, because they work very well to come forward. All the drivers are up to date.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi there @PrimoFigs,

I hope you find your experience of positive Support Forum! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you get no sound from your speakers when connected to the rear audio ports. I'm happy to give you a helping hand with this.

Have you tried to connect another device to this port, whether it of a different set of speakers or earphones, headphones just to test if one of them works?

What it is connected to the front port at the same time? If so, then disconnect this device and try again the rear port and let me know if there is a change.

Also try this: desktop HP-no sound on speakers (Windows 8).

Please let me know if any of the work of tip for you suggestions and if we don't solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • NB500-108 does not automatically select the boot device

    Hello

When I start the computer (NB500-108), it gets as far as the "Toshiba Leading Innovation" screen and stops. It will allow me to select F2 and F12, but I have to do it EVERY time I start the computer. It seems that it will automatically select the HDD/SSD drive and I can't find in the start menu anyway to fix this problem.

I tried running repair of the boot from the Windows 7 repair disc and even if it is said that there is no problem, I would consider it a problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Satellite M40 - 142, stereo audio input

I can 'stereo' record through the microphone in Satellite M40 - 142?
It is possible to have a line-input/output stereo or mono only?

    Hello

As far as I know the line output (headphone jack) allows the connection of stereo headphones (16 Ohm min.) or a different audio output device. When you connect headphones, the internal speaker is automatically disabled. The input line (Jack Microphone) allows to connect a monaural microphone or other audio input device.

Beats and all software audio apps work fine after 10 window installed. but I lost out in all but one of my audio jacks back during playback using any audio application (Media Player, Cakewalk, etc.).  I went to manage audio devices on the control panel and to configure/test the speakers/headphones and I went out on the set of the back to my speakers during the test; but, not for playback of audio applications.

I found a solution.  After the announcement of this question, I went through the different options for audio and put to update my sound driver.  Since I got a response from the Microsoft Community ( http://answers.microsoft.com ) forum which confirms this.

    > Go to Device Manager (press Windows + X, select Device Manager button.

    > Locate the audio adapter.  In my case, I had two entries for audio devices, "Audio inputs and outputs" and "audio, video, and game controllers.

    Hello!

I just wanted to share a few experiences. When I shot down my system to Windows XP edition family of pre-installed Vista (Satellite A100) I went to the support section of the official site of Toshiba and downloaded all available for my laptop to XP. And everything has been working fine until now. Oh, I think this chipset driver I got from the Intel site.

Maybe try to re - install some components like chipset driver (as the audio is embedded)?

    Good luck!

Maybe you can share what, exactly, you enter in a cell.  A screenshot is also useful.

Here's a way to do what I think you want:

Enter amounts in cells B1, B2 and B3

Select cell B6, and type (or copy and paste it here) the formula:

    =B2*B3*B1/365.25/100

    B6=B2*B3*B1/365.25/100
