• Essbase Version 11 export error

  I just installed Hyperion Essbase version 11 on windows 2003 Server, this is a new installation on the new machine. I get error following during the backup every night.
  After a 'Calc' export us data to the following location. Hyperion\APP\DB. Same Maxl script works fine on version 7 of Essbase. If I export data manually its works fine, only problem I have during return nightly (automated). Data size is 1.4 GB; Please let me know if you need more information.

  I would go with a variation of the initial response of Jonh change
  export of database '$APP '. "' $DB ' all data of data_file" 'C:\\Temp\\$APP\\$DB\\Export_AllData_1.txt "";

  TO

  export of database '$APP '. "' $DB ' all data of data_file" 'C:\\Temp\\Export_AllData_1.txt "";

  (Ensures C:\temp exist on the server or create it on some diving you want to just make sure you point to the correct location)
  This removes all paths possible questions or variable. I'm not much batch scripts, but I wonder about the $(DB) in the last part of the statement. I do not know the use of parens competence and how to evaluate that. You also write to a specific path in the export, I could validate that this path exists.

  My question is as below
  We intend to deploy essbase version 11.1.1.3.0 on platform Linux RHEL5. I want to know the design of relational database, we would need for shared service and EAS to configure and use according to the installation document.
  
  -At least the documentation mentions is 100 MB. Is this a possible size?
  -What happens when this 100 MB runs out? Will be this errror outside? It truncates and write again in system tables needed for shared services?
  -Lets say I have about 800 native users and since LDAP OPEN will disappear with this version as well so it will be written to the relational tables as well.
  
  -What would be a possible size in this case. Will be around 1 GB to 2 GB suffuce?

  I do not know what database you are using, but if it's Oracle, you can set the size to autoextend by a set for example size 50 MB.
  11.1.1.3 still uses Openldap, it is removed from 11.1.2

  I need to download Essbase Version 11 for 32-bit Windows computer, and I'm not able to find the files for 32-bit windows computer essbase. We have a windows 2003 server.
  
  I need to upgrade my system 9.3.1 test environment to Version 11. But we use the version of Essbase version 7 on the Production Server.
  
  Initially company upgrade to the system 9 but now they want to go on the Version 11. My question is can we migrate the application to version 7 to 11 and how difficult is to level 7 to 11.

  If 7 and 11 are on another server, export the data and use the migration Assistant in environmental assessments to migrate everything.

  If it's going to be on the same server, I just save / export all essbase components, wipe, install 11 and then restore

  Bruce - thanks. I'm not sure you've seen this, but I looked on the "Update" menu on my laptop and updated the application manager. Who did the trick. I opened the Camera Raw 9.1 download successfully and it was installing on my hard drive, but without the CS 6 update, it was not to find the right place to go. This issue is now resolved, and updated the latest watch information box.

• 11.1.2.3 Essbase / OBIEE 11.1.1.7 question

  Hi guys

  Having a few problems getting Essbase and OBIEE going and thought I'd try here.

  In the OBI administration tool, I can create a database object ' Essbase 11', but it let me only to create a pool of connections 'Essbase 9'. " When I then "Import metadata" I get a message saying "physical database already exists, but it is not the same type of provider".

  My theory is that this is happening because the Essbase Connection Pool is to see that there is no 9 Essbase database and try to create one, but my db Essbase 11 already exist; This is why the error message.

  This theory is further justified by the fact that 'import metadata' only works if I choose Essbase 9 early on for the database. I'd be happy with that, but I get another question when I'm actually trying to use this connection/db on an OBI analysis, so I would dismiss version DB/connection as a first question since it is something obvious. Is - this standard to Essbase 9 just choose to the DB and the Connection Pool?

  FYI, this isn't packed OBI install Essbase. EPM is installed separately.

  I can't comment on the logic of Oracle around the numbering... BUT also to have the same version of software and created everything with a Version 9 connection pool that works very well.

• Upgrade to version 6.0 SourceFire Module questions

  We have just implemented SourceFire Module version 5.4.1 on our ASA recently, but want to upgrade to version 6.0. I've been through Notes version 6.0 for the upgrade, which are dated to November 2015, but had a few questions that I was hoping someone here could answer:

  -Our FireSIGHT Management Center is a virtual appliance of 64-bit. Can we install version 6.0 on a virtual appliance VMWare running on EXSi 6.0? The only issue date list 5.1 and 5.5 ESXi ESXi.

  -Should what files I use for the update? The Release Notes say to use "SourceFire_3d_Defense_Center_S3_upgrade - 6.0.0 - 1005.sh. My choice on Cisco's Support site are: asasfr-sys - 6.0.0 - 1005.pkg, asasfr-5500 x-boot - 6.0.0 - 1005.img and Cisco_Network_Sensor_Upgrade - 6.0.0 - 1005.sh. I guess the sys-asasfr - 1005.pkg - 6.0.0 is for CME, and the Cisco_Network_Sensor_Upgrade - 6.0.0 - 1005.sh is for the ASAs.Is that right?

  -How long will the update for FMC and ASAs? The ASA is a 5516 x and the release notes look like they say that the update will take about 41 minutes.

  ESXi 6.0 is not officially supported so that your experience may vary. If you get stuck, you may TAC by telling you that you're on your own.

  "Cisco_Network_Sensor_Upgrade - 6.0.0 - 1005.sh" is used to upgrade the fire ASA power module in the Manager of firepower.

  If you were a fabricated construction or reimage then you would use the boot images and sys respectively.

  41 minutes for CME is right. As mentioned Philip, 2 hours is a better estimate of the ASA module, especially on a smaller area as the X 5516.

  I'm in EPM 11.1.2.3 Basic version and I applied the Essbase Server patch Patch 17767302

  However, when I check the version of essbase I still see ESB11.1.2.3.000

  Should I take any other measure?

  Look in the Essbase.log - \user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\essbase\essbase\essbase.log

  or search for the newspaper OPMN - \user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\OPMN\opmn\console~Essbase1~EssbaseAgent~AGENT~1.log

  At startup, you should see something like

  [Mar 18 08:21:25 August 2015] Local/ESSBASE0 / / / 4008/Info (1056815)

  Essbase 64-bit - version 11.1.2 (ESB11.1.2.3. 508B029)

  Because the patch is for windows you can also view the properties of the essbase.exe file

  For Essbase in environmental assessments, it shows as ESB11.1.2.1.0B347.1
  Can anyone confirm that represents this "0b"? Also is it so superior to 11.1.2.1.102?
  
  Also can you please give the steps to find out the exact version of the provider of Services running. I find that in the properties.

  It is to show that no patches have been installed while you are on the basic version of 11.1.2.1, you would need to install the patches required or higher for the Smart View feature
