• Design of the relational database when installing essbase version 11.1.1.3.0

  Hello
  My question is as below
  We intend to deploy essbase version 11.1.1.3.0 on platform Linux RHEL5. I want to know the design of relational database, we would need for shared service and EAS to configure and use according to the installation document.
  
  -At least the documentation mentions is 100 MB. Is this a possible size?
  -What happens when this 100 MB runs out? Will be this errror outside? It truncates and write again in system tables needed for shared services?
  -Lets say I have about 800 native users and since LDAP OPEN will disappear with this version as well so it will be written to the relational tables as well.
  
  -What would be a possible size in this case. Will be around 1 GB to 2 GB suffuce?

  I do not know what database you are using, but if it's Oracle, you can set the size to autoextend by a set for example size 50 MB.
  11.1.1.3 still uses Openldap, it is removed from 11.1.2

• Essbase Version 11 export error

  I just installed Hyperion Essbase version 11 on windows 2003 Server, this is a new installation on the new machine. I get error following during the backup every night.
  After a 'Calc' export us data to the following location. Hyperion\APP\DB. Same Maxl script works fine on version 7 of Essbase. If I export data manually its works fine, only problem I have during return nightly (automated). Data size is 1.4 GB; Please let me know if you need more information.

  I would go with a variation of the initial response of Jonh change
  export of database '$APP '. "' $DB ' all data of data_file" 'C:\\Temp\\$APP\\$DB\\Export_AllData_1.txt "";

  TO

  export of database '$APP '. "' $DB ' all data of data_file" 'C:\\Temp\\Export_AllData_1.txt "";

  (Ensures C:\temp exist on the server or create it on some diving you want to just make sure you point to the correct location)
  This removes all paths possible questions or variable. I'm not much batch scripts, but I wonder about the $(DB) in the last part of the statement. I do not know the use of parens competence and how to evaluate that. You also write to a specific path in the export, I could validate that this path exists.

• Hperion Essbase Version 11

  I need to download Essbase Version 11 for 32-bit Windows computer, and I'm not able to find the files for 32-bit windows computer essbase. We have a windows 2003 server.
  
  I need to upgrade my system 9.3.1 test environment to Version 11. But we use the version of Essbase version 7 on the Production Server.
  
  Initially company upgrade to the system 9 but now they want to go on the Version 11. My question is can we migrate the application to version 7 to 11 and how difficult is to level 7 to 11.

  If 7 and 11 are on another server, export the data and use the migration Assistant in environmental assessments to migrate everything.

  If it's going to be on the same server, I just save / export all essbase components, wipe, install 11 and then restore

• Essbase version and service provider

  I'm trying to figure out the Essbase server version and the service provider.
  For Essbase in environmental assessments, it shows as ESB11.1.2.1.0B347.1
  Can anyone confirm that represents this "0b"? Also is it so superior to 11.1.2.1.102?
  
  Also can you please give the steps to find out the exact version of the provider of Services running. I find that in the properties.

  It is to show that no patches have been installed while you are on the basic version of 11.1.2.1, you would need to install the patches required or higher for the Smart View feature

• Automating Essbase version 11.1.1.3 Question customer installs?

  Sorry if this isn't the place to post this question, but no one knows if there is another way to install the client components Essbase individually for Essbase-Essbase administration services (EAS) without using the Oracle and snap install tool? I have a client who needs to automate the installation of 600 users and because they have no standard image program they use must to push the software for desktop computers before you begin the installation.
  
  Using the installation tool required that about 4 GB of software push the client workstations before installing the software and they would have a smaller footprint. I know that SmartView has a thin Setup program, but anyone know of another option other than use of the installation tool provided by Oracle for Essbase and EAS supplement?

• Backup & Recovery in Version 11.1.2.1 Essbase

  We are implementing Essbase Application for purposes, users get the data of Essbase by OBIEE and SmartView comes from the statement. During the process of implementation, we also required to work the back and recovery.

  The current enforcement Nature:

  • Essbase version is 11.1.2.1, implemented in high availability clustered environment and model of Fail-Over. Having 2 nodes Essbase mounted on Microsoft cluster Services, share the same Aborpath.
  • Purpose of Essbase Application, will be used for reporting purposes.
  • Essbase App type is BSO.
  • Level of data export from the cube before starting to generate metadata is LEVEL 0

  Backup and restore strategy:

  From the foregoing, it is clear that it is useless to apply transaction logging settings to capture the data entries. Can you review my backup strategy and add if I'm wrong, please.

  My Intention is to automate the backup and restore by writing scripts to Windows controls.

  Backup strategy:

  With on the maintenance of the database in Archive Mode (because no update is allowed).

  1. Export data of level 0.
  2. Stop the Essbase Service, i.e., stop the Agent.
  3. Write a lot of windows Script to take backup of all Essbase artifacts as well as the data of level 0 export file and move to the Archive Folders / any other place.
  4. Articats being included .pag .ind, .esm, .tct, .ind, .otl, .lro, .otn, .db, .ddb, .sec. sec.bak, .cfg, .app, .csc .rul. Rep.
  5. Once the backup of those files completed, restart the Service Essbase
  6. End of Maintenance activity

  Concerns about the approach described above:

  The Essbase Application implemented model of cluster; That soon the OPMN service is stopped on node 1(after Max. 3 attempts), he fail-over lock NODE2 and wedges on all artifacts. How can we reach this situation? Can we still continue with the backup? I presume that, his idea not sure to do a backup with Essbase Service is running.

  You can by the little light on the way to overcome this, please.

  Recovery strategy:

  To restore a database in the event of damage/loss to the demand for different reasons, for example Application Crash / Performing PROD to Dr. Fail-Over

  1. Stop the Essbase Application and database and to ensure that the application does not accept client connections
  2. Replace the files on the disk with the corresponding files in the backup.
  3. Start the database of data & Essbase App
  4. Load the data of level 0, which has been backed up.
  5. Continue with regular data files loading and Script calculations.
  6. End of the restoration of the App

  Please review the approach and add points if I missed something here. Approach is theortical right here, so not included all MaxL scripts because I know the commands used to perform each step.

• Moving data, Applications, etc. from Stardoll... since version essbase 7 to 11

  What is the best way to move or migrate the data from the essbase version 7 to essbase version 11.1.1.3? Soul of data all type of Aps, Stardoll, security, and file system and all things.
  
  Is is possible that I can copy the file from the old version and paste it into the new system? If yes then they works perfectly.
  
  I need precise description so I can understand the process...

  They (was SPSS today IBM) have a 11.1.1.3 communicated - I taught a class Essbase 7 to 11.1.1.3 the SPSS and then when we worked for the same company. I guess they took it...

  I am installing Essbase Version 11.1.2.4 on 2 different servers but pointing to the same Shared Services.

  -> Install Essbase on Server1 (liaison on behalf of host Server1) complete successfully and with all the problems

  -> Essbase installed on Server2 (link to Server2 hostname); No problem when the installation & Configuration but only problem when you try to start the Service Manager OPMN process.

  'The Manager (epmsystem1) process Oracle service on Local computer started and then stopped... "

  
  

  Can you please clarify on

  
  

  (1) can not install Essbase on 2 separate Essbase servers pointing to the same shared services?

  (2) I can't link host names their respective servers?

  3) do I have to change any setting (such as OPMN.xml) in order to work Essbase on second server?

  
  

  Interestingly, opmnctl.bat also does not work and NO log created at all.

  If you go to the command line and the \bin directory, type:

  opmnctl start

  Errors are generated? Also check the logs of diagnosis OPMN.

• Error using ESSCMDQ with Essbase ASO unicode applications...

  I tried to restructure an ASO for a unicode application outline... and I get this error:

  [Tue Mar 17 17:49:25 2015] EssbaseServerName/App_Name/DB_Name/admin/Error (1060127)

  Contour encoded UTF-8 file is not allowed to read in a non-Unicode client mode

  so try to use the command

  Openotl '2' 1 'App_Name' 'DB_Name' 'DB_Name' 'y' 'y' 1;

  I tried to put the command in a signed file UTF8, but still have the question.

  Is it possible to use this utility (ESSCMDQ) on request for ASO to restructure the sketch?

  Is there another way to make outlines of a request for ASO restructuring?

  Essbase version is 11.1.2.1.

  Try "when running ESSCMDQ against a Unicode ASO plan, the following error and cannot continue:"file encoded in UTF - 8 pattern is not allowed to read non-Unicode-mode client"(Doc ID 1502120.1).

  Solution

  1. an environment variable must be set:

  In the environment where ESSCMDQ runs, the value of the environment variable "ESSCMDQ_UTF8MODE" and make sure it is equal to 1:

  ESSCMDQ_UTF8MODE = 1

  2. Once you have verified that it is located in the environment for the user/cmd line used to run ESSCMDQ, run ESSCMDQ again. It should now be able to compact this sketch ASO Unicode.
