• Essbase & OPMN services for Essbase not getting started

  The difficulty from the essbase and OPMN services for essbase.

  All services have increased and works well on the 11.1.2.3.500 Version, until we applied

  11.1.2.3.508 patch for essbase, EAS, APS and RTC

  Coordinator of 11.1.2.3.500 to 11.1.2.3.701

  We kept planning of Calc, Reporting Analysis and FDMEE to 11.1.2.3.500 only Manager.

  We are not able to see any error in the journal OPMN and Essbase.

  Please suggest any solution.

  Have you tried from command line OPMN to see if an error message is generated.

• When to use ProvisionUsers.cmd vs CubeRefresh.cmd user filter Refresh for Essbase

  There are times when we add a new dimension to the Version of our planning application and apply security to this new version.  This happens in the middle of the day when users can be connected to the planning of an application, or possibly using SmartView.  We do an update of the database to synchronize the outline for Essbase, which takes a few minutes to process.  However, when refresh us user planning security we had questions for the security update complete.  Sometimes we kill the process, after that it ran for 45 minutes to an hour and ends.  Do not know what is causing this problem if it is related to the users are logged on via SmartView or not (any way to control this process?).

  Also, several security changes happens through shared Services as users change from groups or need extra or the removal of security on a basis continues.  We have a very stable process that morning of evry of tracks (01:00) which takes about 15 minutes to update security for planning applications six planning to Essbase by using the 'CubeRefresh.cmd' utility with the "/ F" filter option. This script running even in the middle of the day hangs up sometimes when we try to update to the application that have changed the dimension.  I came across the "ProvisionUsers.cmd" utility of planning.  I understand that the CubeRefresh.cmd is used to update the database as security filters.  I was wondering for the synchronization of security filter is more effective or safer run the 'ProvisionUsers.cmd' rather than the cuberefresh.cm?  What is the advantage of using one against the other?

  We are on Hyperion essbase/planning version 11.1.2.1.

  I suggest to keep the planning application owner or administrator of the application access control... in order to avoid any connection of the user on the planning in this activity...

  Also, I like Vincent solution to clear all sessions of the user part and a disconnection essbase before refresh security running.

  In addition, Cuberefresh.cmd - just refresh the security

  ProvisionUser.cmd - Re-sync safety from scratch through shared Services (advantage: obsolete user entry will be deleted from the repository of planning, which inturn improving the refreshment of security planning execution time).

• Essbase version and service provider

  I'm trying to figure out the Essbase server version and the service provider.
  For Essbase in environmental assessments, it shows as ESB11.1.2.1.0B347.1
  Can anyone confirm that represents this "0b"? Also is it so superior to 11.1.2.1.102?
  
  Also can you please give the steps to find out the exact version of the provider of Services running. I find that in the properties.

  It is to show that no patches have been installed while you are on the basic version of 11.1.2.1, you would need to install the patches required or higher for the Smart View feature

• RDBMS for Essbase

  Hi All-
  
  I had a guy from Oracle statement below when you plan an upgrade:
  "It takes an RDBMS Oracle essbase v11 for metadata and information on housing security system and it was not necessary in the v7."
  
  It is a valid instruction if we just want to have Essbase in standalone product with native security? This means that v9.3 also need an RDBMS for Essbase? If so, why?
  
  I've been working on v7 & v9.3 Essbase, and I don't remember using RDBMS for v9.3 Essbase. Please let me know if you have more information about this, thank you!

  Yes it is valid for all versions of 11, you must configure the Shared Services registry - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epm_install_1112200/ch05s13.html
  It is not necessary for versions before that.

  I need to download the adapter for Essbase, can someone tell me where, Cuse, I did find in Oracle E delivery, but I have not found it. :(

• Design of the relational database when installing essbase version 11.1.1.3.0

  My question is as below
  We intend to deploy essbase version 11.1.1.3.0 on platform Linux RHEL5. I want to know the design of relational database, we would need for shared service and EAS to configure and use according to the installation document.
  
  -At least the documentation mentions is 100 MB. Is this a possible size?
  -What happens when this 100 MB runs out? Will be this errror outside? It truncates and write again in system tables needed for shared services?
  -Lets say I have about 800 native users and since LDAP OPEN will disappear with this version as well so it will be written to the relational tables as well.
  
  -What would be a possible size in this case. Will be around 1 GB to 2 GB suffuce?

  I do not know what database you are using, but if it's Oracle, you can set the size to autoextend by a set for example size 50 MB.
  11.1.1.3 still uses Openldap, it is removed from 11.1.2

  We have a lot of Essbase users and I do not install install Hyperion, followed by the installation of assemblies, the Services of the Foundation and, finally, Excel Add-in.

  Usually the excel add-in has been backwards compatible, I have not tried all the features, but what I used seems to be ok.

• Essbase Version 11 export error

  I just installed Hyperion Essbase version 11 on windows 2003 Server, this is a new installation on the new machine. I get error following during the backup every night.
  After a 'Calc' export us data to the following location. Hyperion\APP\DB. Same Maxl script works fine on version 7 of Essbase. If I export data manually its works fine, only problem I have during return nightly (automated). Data size is 1.4 GB; Please let me know if you need more information.

  I would go with a variation of the initial response of Jonh change
  export of database '$APP '. "' $DB ' all data of data_file" 'C:\\Temp\\$APP\\$DB\\Export_AllData_1.txt "";

  TO

  export of database '$APP '. "' $DB ' all data of data_file" 'C:\\Temp\\Export_AllData_1.txt "";

  (Ensures C:\temp exist on the server or create it on some diving you want to just make sure you point to the correct location)
  This removes all paths possible questions or variable. I'm not much batch scripts, but I wonder about the $(DB) in the last part of the statement. I do not know the use of parens competence and how to evaluate that. You also write to a specific path in the export, I could validate that this path exists.

  I need to download Essbase Version 11 for 32-bit Windows computer, and I'm not able to find the files for 32-bit windows computer essbase. We have a windows 2003 server.
  
  I need to upgrade my system 9.3.1 test environment to Version 11. But we use the version of Essbase version 7 on the Production Server.
  
  Initially company upgrade to the system 9 but now they want to go on the Version 11. My question is can we migrate the application to version 7 to 11 and how difficult is to level 7 to 11.

  If 7 and 11 are on another server, export the data and use the migration Assistant in environmental assessments to migrate everything.

  If it's going to be on the same server, I just save / export all essbase components, wipe, install 11 and then restore

• Adapter ES9x-G4-B FDM for Essbase

  I'm looking for the adapter ES9x-G4-B FDQM for Essbase.
  
  I can't find it in the delivery.
  
  I got FDM 9.3.1 and ES9x-G4-A adapter but you must update to FDM 9.3.1.1 to fix a bug.
  
  The problem is that ES9x-G4-A is unable to work with FDM 9.3.1.1 wich is suppose to work with ES9x-G4-B according to the support of Oracle and the only version I do not see in the delivery is ES9x-G4-C who can not work with FDM 9.3.1.1 (according to the Oracle support).
  
  Anyone know where I can find this adapter? Because Oracle doesn't...

  I believe that you have received some wrong information.
  The Readme file for the adapter ES9x-G4-C indicates clearly in the ReadMe.PDF is it compatible with FDM 9.3.1.1
