Back to Vista to Windows 7

I have this computer that had vista on it.  I've upgraded to Windows 7 and have had problems.  So I was wondering if there is a way to get back to Vista.  I don't have the drive to do so because it was preinstalled on the computer.  You some way simply to get rid of 7?

Hello

Under certain conditions, this can work. See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971760/en-us

Thank you for your message.  To expand the information that Lorien asked: click HERE if you have a "windows.old" folder on your C: drive.  The link will take you to well to restore your computer to your previous operating system, using the data contained in the folder.  If you do not have a "windows.old" folder you would unfortunately have to clean, install your previous operating system.

  • Back to Vista after Windows 7 RC expires

I used to have vista, then I started to use a copy of assessment of windows 7. It is now expired I can recover my vista? If so, how?

Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Factory reset, it will find windows 7 upgade or roll back to Vista?

Hello, I want to install an SSD and need to do a factory reset first. When I bought this Vaio had Vista on it, and later I paid Sony for the upgrade of Windows 7 which is a download.

If I go through the factory reset on the recovery partition it back to Vista or Windows 7 will keep?

    Thanks for any help

    Paul

    Paul

IF it had Vista on it, then you guessed it the restore partition would be for this OS, unless you changed it so it would restore a vanilla Vista OS

IE9 is currently a pre-release version of the software and you will have to remove it to go back to a production environment. However, when they try to uninstall via Add/Remove Programs, IE9 is not in the list of programs but listed under installed updates.

You can remove IE9 Beta by following the following steps.

    1. close all programs.

    2. click on Startand then click Control Panel.

    3. click on uninstall a program under the category of the programs

    4. in the pane tasks, click view installed updates.

    5. in the list of installed updates, double-click Windows Internet Explorer 9.

    6. in the dialog box uninstall an update , click Yes.
Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click continue.

    7. follow the instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 9.

    8. when the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.

    9. After you restart your computer, open Internet Explorer.

    10. click On Internet Explorer in the menu help . If the Internet Explore 7 or 8 is displayed in the About Internet Explorerdialog box, and then you have finished uninstalling.

  • Back to Vista after not authentic Windows 7 was installed

    a friend installed a copy of windows 7 ultimate in gift, now is to show that counterfeiting;

I want to go back to vista, but it was removed from my laptop,

How can I download a copy of vista and use my original key to activate it, preferably without any cost more

Really, the only option is to contact the manufacturer of the computer and get a set of recovery disc for a small fee (no cost) to restore your system back to factory conditions.  It would be a pure install so be sure that you have backed up your important data (programs, settings and updates will have to be re-installed).  Another option is to find someone with an Installation disc full Vista genuine in the same size of the bit and use it to do the installation with your original key (assuming that the key was for a full installation - if it was an upgrade, you must install and activate the original operating system first and then perform the upgrade - you can not use a key to upgrade to a full installation).

There is no download legal, free Vista product from anywhere.

Here is Microsoft's policy on replacement software: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246/en-us.  As you can see, it won't be a big help in this situation if you want to avoid or at least minimize costs.

I'm sorry, we can not help you more, but these are your options.

    Good luck!

  • Windows 7 back to Vista

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  I installed a new video card, and when I restarted the computer I got a screen asking if I wanted to start using Windows Vista or Windows Vista Home Premium recovered.  If one of these he was chosen then asks for the startup mode (normal, safe etc), and any option is chosen, it goes back to the original request screen what operating system, I want to start with.

When I put in the disc of Windows 7 to boot from and tried to fix the system, I get a message saying that the option is not available because it is not compatible with the version of windows I'm running.  I tried to upgrade the system to aid, but said I had to first start the old version (vista) normally until I could do it.

I tried to put the original video card from back in but I got the same results.

I had been running Windows 7 32 bit for four years after the upgrade of Vista and put to level to 64 - bit in January.

Any ideas how to deal with this situation before a full reinstall with everything that affects?

While you can upgrade Vista 32 bit to Win7 32 bit, you cannot move to 64-bit, which requires a clean install of Win7 64 bit, so you must have the lying arround of win7 64 bit dvd

  • Vista upgrade to windows 7 does not and could not roll back to vista

I bought a retail pack for the Windows 7 upgrade. I tried to install it yesterday evening - took to always (more than 4 hours) and froze in several places for more than an hour. At the last second stage (installation of windows features) - he crashed and closed. Reboot, it says "set to level failed - rolling to the previous operating system". After about 1/2 hour of rolling back - it crashed again - blue screen "STOP: c000021a.» System fatal error. Process of initial session or the processes of the system ended unexpectedly with an error code of 0 x 000000000 (0xc00000001 0x0010037c). system was stopped.

the laptop (a Dell Studio 1555) cannot be started and is not an operating system. A terrible catastrophe for what seemed like a simple upgrade. I followed all the instructions in the Windows tutorial "upgrade Windows vista to windows 7 ', no warning that I should set out a clean boot which I've since found in blogs. I'm mad at Microsoft for releasing a product that will destroy my system when you follow their instructions.

I obviously need to re - install an OS - my question is... I have an other laptop Dell Studio 1555 which came with windows 7 and I have the installation disc. Can I use this disc to do a fresh install on this laptop and use the product key that came with Windows 7 upgrade disc?

Otherwise, it will be a long and difficult process of re - install Vista, upgrade to SP1 and upgrade to Windows 7, and then potentially have fail again. Please notify.

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows 7 or Windows Vista often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

    ------------------------------------

This is how the recovery partition is available for the most popular brands

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.
