backup iPad to find to iCloud

I have an ipad 2.  When I check itunes, I see that a backup has just been made in icloud.  However, when I check icloud, I don't see any file called "backup of the ipad.  So, where is this icloud ipad backup?  My software is up to date on my Mac with itunes, and I'm in ios 9 on my ipad.

Thank you for your help.

You cannot connect you to iCloud and see a file or any content of the backup. On your iPad or any other iOS device using the same Apple ID iCloud, you can go to settings > iCloud > storage > Storage manage and tap the device name to view the date and the size of the backup.

What should I do?

    Hello MoBro,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your message that takes longer than expected to restore your backup to iCloud.  The restore process can take some time and depends on the amount of data is being restored, as well as speed and using the connection of the network Wi - Fi iPad.  For more information, please see the information below:

Restore my device from a backup to iCloud takes a long time

Restoring a backup can take time because of the size of the backup or the speed of Wi - Fi network. For example, iCloud may take about 1 to 4 hours per gigabyte during a restore process.

There are several steps that follow:

    • In iOS 8 or later, check the status of the transfer on your device under settings > iCloud > Backup. If the restore process is in progress, the backup setting is gray.
    • Make sure that your device is connected to the Internet with reliable WiFi.
    • Make sure that your device is plugged into a power outlet.
    • Check the Apple progress bar that is displayed during the transfer of a backup.

  • Backup of files in TimeMachine iCloud drive

I just above has migrated to a MacBook 12 '' Air of Macbook using Time Machine and noticed that my 2.4 GB of iCloud drive files are downloaded rather than migrating to the TimeMachine. This suggests that these files are not be saved locally, which is relative.

Is it true that Time Machine does not back up iCloud locally stored files?

Apparently, the files are backed up and stored in ~/library/mobile documents based on the following thread:

Does not save icloud to Time Machine when you create on a Mac

Indeed, I see my files in there, but I'm confused why these files have not been restored to the new machine and instead the entire library is to be re-uploaded. Fortunately, I had ~ 2 GB, but it would take hours for a larger library.

Does anyone know if it is possible to restore the Time Machine backup files and let the iCloud to update as needed? It would appear more sensible and more similar to other cloud solutions.

  • I bought the iphone 6 to find her icloud is locked. I tried to contact the owner, but I can't reach him. are there opportunities to take the step of activation? Thank you.

I bought the iphone 6 to find her icloud is locked. I tried to contact the owner, but I can't reach him. are there opportunities to take the step of activation? Thank you.

    Hello

You describe Activation Lock, which prevents the unauthorized use of the iPhone if it is lost or stolen.

This can be disabled either by:

    • The former owner, grabbing their Apple ID and password of the device.
    • The previous owner, removing the iPhone in their list of devices to locate my iPhone via iCloud.com.

In both cases, be sure to follow the instructions in the first article below.

If you can not organize or either of these actions, then you will not be able to use the iPhone. There is no way around this security feature.

My iPhone was stolen. I try to activate the 'find' on iCloud app but my camera is not listed in the topic "all devices". If I select the "settings" app in iCloud, I see my device listed but. How can I get my unit added to the app locate so that I can active lost mode? Thank you.

You can only locate, lock or wipe your device when it is connected to iCloud and "Find my phone" is enabled, in addition the unit must be turned on and connected to a cellular network or wifi.

Unfortunately, you can not activate iCloud or "Find my phone" remotely.

  • backup iPad only 5.6 GB, when the total data size is 24 GB?

    Hello

I have to back my iPad mini for the service, due to a button. Just in case, I supported it upwards - in iCloud and locally on my Macbook. The total amount of data used is 24 GB, but the backup on my Macbook and the two iCloud amounts only to 5 GB. Why is this? Something remains out of the backup, it won't be there if I have to restore it / get a new device?

I hope you can help - thank you

Yes, which can also be downloaded once a backup has been restored is left side (for example, iCloud photo library and music, video and applications purchased from the iTunes/App store.

The actual backup does not contain any of your iTunes store downloads, if you restore a backup that it would look to pick up iTunes library. If you produce > devices > transfer purchases it must copy all store downloads that are not currently in the iTunes library so that they are available for a possible restoration (and you can add them to your backup to your computer)

  • Solution of fast backup, photos of google or iCloud photo library?

Hey there Apple community, im in a bit of a situation difficult and need a few thoughts. My iPhone more than 6 s is fully charged to 64 GB of photos and applications. My iMac is fully loaded with photos in iphoto, Yosemite. I have 10% left in my iMac HD. It won't let me save my iphone. I know I go through my iphoto library and organize and delete some photos and consolidate the events before migrating to the new application photos and then move it to icloud photo library, but I'm very limited on time in the next few months and won't be able to do. I wrestle on a quick temporary solution for backup, but don't want to spoil or lose my precious photos and other data.

But this is what im thinking, tell me if this would mess things up.

I would like to either temporarily back up all my photos on Google photos for now from my iphone, and then when I'm ready, I'm going to migrate my iphoto library all on my imac to the photo library to icloud and then transfer my photo library from google to the photo library icloud (but not sure. If it works Someone at - it experience with google pictures and Mac?).

Or I simply activate the iCloud library of photos on my phone while it backs up my current pictures on my phone last year and then optimize my storage on my phone. Then a few months starting now to migrate my iphoto library 268 GB of Photos app on my iMac running Yosemite and then migrate the library of Photos in this same icloud photos library that I opened a few months back from my phone (I understand I will pay $10 per month for the size of the library). I feel like the latest one is the best option, but I'm not sure if I do it my icloud library won't sync and consolidate properly because I started with my current pictures on my phone and then brought in my library of photos together for the last 5 years at a later date. How do you think any community?

Why not get an external drive and move the photo library of the computer to the outside. If successful, you can then remove the library on the computer, or just keep it as a backup.

The article is for iPhoto, but the basics are the same.
