I have a HP Pavilion P7 - 1037c. I just did the backup on a second external drive. Now when I go on the icon my computer on the desktop different disks are OK except the backup partition. The line shows how much it is red. What does that mean? Thank you!

Hello ticketplease, restore partition d: the factory is in fact not a disc but a partition on the hard drive, just like the C: partition.

The D: partion is designed to be used only for the HP recovery restore procedure. It should never be used as a drive backup (partition), where all the files would be added to this partition.

When Windows recognize any partition which becomes full of data, by default, he colored the Red score to alert the user that the partition is larger.

You try to use Windows Explorer and see if you can identify the files that have been added to the D: partition and deleted these files to a different location. It is not possible to determine these added files.

The only way to resolve this problem if you cannot identify and delete files added, would be to perform a procedure to restore HP recovery that wipe the hard drive and reinstall the original software included with the system.

You would need to make a backup of any important data before you performed the restore HP recovery procedure.

I hope you don't mean that you try to back up one partition to another on the same drive. It does not work.

You must select an item in the view of time travel until you click on restore. The color of the chronology is normal in El Capitan.

  • Satellite P770 - Question on backup partition

    Hello
first of all, I'm not really sure that I am in the right section, I apologize if I am not!
Then, my English not is really good when it comes to computering, so forgive me again :)

So, I have a Toshiba Satellite P770 and I know that there is some kind of partition backup, I already used it, (last night) because I wanted to clean t.

Then I realized that the partitions are not as I wanted them to be, so I chose the option where I can format the entire hard drive (2x500Go, took about 2 hours for each of them) after that, I tried to use this "secret partition" install everything back.
The problem is that when I press F8 when I turn on the laptop, I get an error message:
"Reboot and select proper boot device."
"or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.

I would like to know if I've already screwed up, and I can't use this backup partition that was provided with the laptop.
If I can, how can I do it? I don't know how to select the proper boot device...

    Thanks for your help!

I'm afraid you have ruined all of Mr. is typical of many people who play with the laptop before they read s manuals where is recommended creation of backup called recovery DVDs DVD.

    You may have this?

Anyway, recovery disc HARD OS install (from the recovery partition) can work if the structure of the partitions is not modified and portable has factory settings.
Now, if you want to have once again the factory settings, you must use the recovery DVDs. If you didn t create that you must buy an and it can be ordered on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • after image restore, backup partition table is different

    Hello

He is a 2012 Macbook mid Pro with El Capitan and Bootcamp.

After repeated with Bootcamp (Windows 10 Pro) problems I started using Image of Terabyte for Linux in order to safeguard this Macbook. Forums terabyte that people know that the Image of Linux (such as Image for Windows) is able to create a reliable backup, but also to restore - restore an entire disk image or restoring individual partitions.

I followed their instructions precisely and activated the two options "restore first Beach" and "TPG hidden OS" (as one terabyte official, Member of the forum wrote) when restoring a partition.

Unfortunately, it did not work! Bootcamp was no longer visible in the start screen or wasn't visible, but not start.

What I found was that I had to keep the two options (see above) with DISABILITIES.

Then I could restore some partition images - and 10 Windows in Bootcamp is bootable.

Well, it was the long introduction.  I'm sorry.

    Now my question is:

Is this something that has changed my partition table?

Before restoring an Image for backup of Linux for the first time, I had this partition table:

    localhost: ~ root # fdisk/dev/disk0

    Disk: geometry / dev/disk0: 60801/255/63 [976773168 sectors]

    BUT:

After failed attempts to restore and work finally restore my partition table operation is different:

    Fdisk/dev/disk0

    Disk: geometry / dev/disk0: 60801/255/63 [976773168 sectors]

    Signature: 0xAA55

Everything seems to work fine, but I wonder if the different appearance of the partition table can be a problem?

    For example, compare:

    1: EA 1023 254 63 - 1023 254 63] 3 o 409639]

In Fdisk, the CHS numbers are arbitrary on modern disks. They are the time of BIOS and old disks with CHS geometry. Puts BCA from Mac 0-1023 (1024 cylinders), 0-255 (256 heads) and 0-63 (64 sectors). Modern disks far exceed those numbers and would drain them. Must match what is the triplet of start/end/size and it fits in GPT and MBR. You can put arbitrary 0,0,0 for CHS and you will see all issues on GPT disks.

Please do not use TBIL to restore W10 to circa 1970-80 disks.

  • Time machine backup partition

According to many resources, that I found while searching, it has been possible, in disk utility, to partition an external backup time machine which was currently being used.  several pages instruct to select the drive in disk utility and click the partition tab.  but it seems that this option is rejected in el capitan, as the partition button is dimmed when I select the drive.  y at - it another way to pull this off, or I'll have to make a copy of the database on a different drive, wipe and partition external and re - set after you have copied the data base on?

    Thank you.

El Capitan has not changed this ability, something happens. Select the drive, and then click info. Check the window long enough to capture all of its contents (the device tree path is not important and can be truncated). Take a screenshot and paste it into a response.

  • How can I delete a backup partition C once it has been burned to a disc for recording?

Hi, I saved my data on a disk and now I'm trying to delete the backup of my computer to save space, but the program always comes up with a window asking permission and does not delete the C drive backup!

Also if I save my D recovery drive on a disk remove it from my computer to get more space recovery?

    Hello

with regard to your D: drive recovery:

you don't arrest HIM otherwise than for the recovery of the disks.

you reinstall vista in the event of a failure of hard drive using these recovery disks

ask the manufacturer of the computer the exact way to do these recovery disks

and if you have a failure of the operating system lets you put your computer about how you bought this recovery partition

you will normally need to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process

ask the manufacturer for the exact key sequence

    and FYI:

If copy you it to another disk, it will NOT work

He was photographed during manufacturing and must stay where it should work

If you do not want to create another partition, see this guide, you can not do the normal procedure on an HP laptop due to the layout of the partition from the factory.

    Hello

    I have a lot of questions, a few problems and a 1 year, Inspiron2350, OEM Win 8.1, 64 bit.

I tried to create a system with Windows 8.1 Image and it does not: error (0 x 80780119) said there is not enough disk space to create the shadow copy of volume etc. etc. Not sure, it's what refers. Partitions maybe?

What can I do these scores? How can I fix the volume so I can create the system image? See screenshot of what it looks like now.

In addition, I see now a Y: drive with a red bar that says ACB Image. Is this normal? During all the time that I got this computer, I have never saw that another drive appears except for the C and the E.See below. Is my computer in trouble?

Another question. On the Dell download site, I noticed that there are updates for my computer, including an update of the Bios A09. My computer's Bios version is now the version of Bios A05. Is it useful to upgrade or something else or simply leave things as they are?

Can I add a second internal hard drive to this computer? I don't want a second hard drive; I'm just curious.

Upgrade to A09 especially if you plan to upgrade to Windows 10.

Backup Windows, as with all utilitiies of backup, looking for the next after C drive letter because it is not a good idea to save anything on the main drive.

What Windows backup or any other backup utility does NOT do is check if the disk with the following letter is a suitable place for file backups.

To locate and remove the backup of Windows files, search for *.bkf and then delete them.

Backups must be stored in the external media that can be isolated from the host system when the not required. Preferred to use an external USB disk. You can get one of them before deleting the files bkf in D... :-)
