  • Windows 8 slow down browsing, explore everything slow, slow - Solution involves (defective)? Microsoft Windows backup process?

I have a new PC of Windows 8 with all the OS updates carried out.  It was not long before the loading of the page on Internet Explorer took a minute (with messages frequent that the page was not answer and I wanted to get the Web page).  The same was true for the launch of Windows Explorer to browse the folders on the computer.  A quick look at the Device Manager revealed that the internal memory use was about 37% always, who initially does not sound an alarm for me (but it must be, I guess!).  Meanwhile, there was nothing wrong with my broadband access - Ookla was speedtesting to almost 20 Mbps.  I searched the web for answers - using search terms such as "fast and slow navigation broadband ' and permutations on this subject.  There were a lot of hits - a lot of people have had this problem, but there is that none of the solutions proposed who worked for one of these people who ask the question (and solutions did not work for me - a commune was ' stop using IE - use Chrome instead! ")  This has no effect).  Norton Internet Security, Spybot, and MalwareBytes found no problem.

Finally, I took another look at Device Manager and reinforced with all the running processes.  I noticed a strange thing - a process called "Microsoft Windows Backup" was running - and it was in the list of processes about 8 times.  Some iterations were using up to 20% of available memory - others used none.  I went through and started to kill these processes.  At first, I just couldn't do enough quickly - they would reopen not almost as soon as I closed the.  Finally, with lots of quick click, I killed all and none reopened.  I went back to Internet Explorer - and found blazing fast page loading.  My Windows Explorer was also back to normal - I was browsing directories at a good pace.

So the question is...  WHY 'Microsoft Windows Backup' ran several times in Device Manager?  Is it really 'Microsoft Windows Backup' or some malware masquerading as such?  And if there is a problem with a backup context process, how can I make sure it is disabled and remains disabled?

    Thank you!

    1 way of working!

Historical files was already off, I had several instances of "Microsoft Windows backup" processes running and one of them would be 30 or 40 percent (he jumped of a process to another).

What is the process and why did start? (or was it always ongoing enforcement & suddenly become a CPU hog?)

  • Backup to the backup process mode two-step SAN vs NBD?

    Hi all

For the moment, I implement two-stage backup using software and technology according to the enclosed diagram,

Note: The network between iSCSI SAN and ESXi 2 x servers are different subnet (see the color code)

Blue bottle indicates NTFS partition, while the black cylinder indicates the VMFS

First backup process is to enter all virtual machines inside the MD3000i VMFS (green cylinder partition 1) initiated by the Windows XP Backup VM who canl grow to be more than 1 TB drive hard to contains the VM backup (day 1 - given that the backup has taken more than 20 hours). -& gt; Choose SAN m mode?

Second step is to copy the big Windows XP machine that contains the backup of virtual machine of the iSCSI SAN on the backup server for the Strip to check-in the day before (day 2)-& gt; Maybe I should use NBD-m to this period?

Any other suggestion please this two-step backup plan would be greatly appreciated.

    See you soon,.

    Kind regards

    AWT

In this case your 'virtual' VCB can use hotadd mode that is designed to VCB in VM.

The external VCB (to BE) can only use the NDB mode instead, the cause has no direct access to the San.

  • The hot backup process

    Hello

I have a Dev on Oracle 10 g (10.2.0.3 on Solaris 8) db, for which I want to set up a simple backup process hot. My question is: for simplicity, instead of putting each tablespace in backup mode and to take it out of backup mode, can I put the entire db in backup mode and copy the data files and control and take the Pb of backup mode:

-J' my intention to do so hours offline when activities are lower and db is small and there is enough space to make it so again is generated (compared to each tablespace in backup mode) that this is acceptable. Thus, the following process is valid:

    (1) connecting to the db as sys
    (2) alter database begin backup
    (3) copy all of the files and control the db for the backup
    (4) change the backup of the end
    - or after it is necessary to issue the - modify the statement of system switch logfile also? -If so, what is the purpose of this statement?

Also another question is: I don't have enough space on the db server hosting backups so after you put the db in backup mode, I transfer the file in Microsoft windows server for solaris. -Is possible with rman?
The reason why I go to managed user backup, of rman is that we do not store the backup on the db Server nor we have any tape, but we have a windows machine that can be used to store backups. so in this case, is it possible that rman can be used?

    Thank you very much
    Cedric

When you use RMAN, you don't have to put a tablespace (or database) in BACKUP Mode.

With RMAN, you can create of BACKUPSETs, in this case, backups can be smaller than the actual database files as RMAN does not save the blocks that have never been used (that is to say, the blocks above the last measure in a data file). In addition, you can create AS COMPRESS in order to introduce more compression.
Alternatively, you can creat backup as Copy, in which case backups are the same size as the data files that you might have with scripted backups (UserManaged).

You MUST run your database in ArchiveLog mode.
    You MUST save each ArchiveLog.
You must save your controlfiles as backup controlfile separate. However, even if you do not configure CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON, whenever you back up the SYSTEM Tablespace (that I advice every day), the controlfile is going to get backed up in the same backup set. For added convenience, I prefer controlfiles backup as separate backups so that they save files are easily identifiable.

  • Backup process takes about 17 hours, which includes the audit of 18 GB of data

I backed up my system Windows XP Home edition on an external hard drive with the NTBackup utility system.  This process takes about 17 hours, which includes the audit of 18 GB of data.  Is there a problem with backup on my system causing this slow time of execution?

Now, I created a disk image of my system using the NTBackup utility of the system from the installation disc, and also, it takes about 17 hours.  There may be some kind of hardware problem.

My computer has installed in USB1 and translates into a slow backup.

NTBackup is one of the worst possible for the backup options (as you can see from your experience). I can recommend a far superior alternative. But first, you must let us know what your goal is:

    1. regularly back up data ONLY (for example Word documents, photos, mp3s, etc.)?
    or
    2. make incremental copies perfect bootable on your system, including all service packs, updates, installed programs, etc. (and possibly your data as well)?
  • no possible backup - lost connection

    Hi all

just try to create a backup of my iPhone (iOS 10.0.2) using iTunes (12.5.1) on an iMac (mid2010)

the problem I keep running into is the following: phone is connected via the port USB iTunes recognizes it and the connection is stable. As I try to start the backup on my mac the phone responds and shows the rotation arrows on the top of the screen to indicate that a backup is in progress, but after that 5 seconds iTunes tells me that apparently, the connection was interrupted and the backup may not be completed. I did a backup but i´d like having directly on my drive. any ideas? THX

    pimpdanjo

I am happy that you said that you use iTunes 12.5.1, as this is required to connect to iOS 10.

Open iTunes, and then in the menu of iTunes, produce (iTunes on Mac or Windows) > Preferences > devices.  Looking for an iPhone backup here.  If you find one, remove it and then start the backup process again.

  • Time Machine backup not my home library folder

After having updated my system to El Capitan in Sierra, I decided to clean my external drive for Time Machine in order to launch a new series of backups TM Sierra.

The problem is that Time Machine now stops back up when it arrives in the library folder in my home folder.

He used to work flawlessly when I ran El Capitan.

I then cancel the backup process which stopped at about half of employment (360 GB 201,85 Gb).

If I dig in the time Machine ""current " file in the folder Backups.backupdb, I find my record library home tagged a red button with a sign less in its lower right corner."

It seems to be a weird permissions issue here.

No explanation of what's going on here? Any solution?

I would like to launch utility disk-> first aid on the disk and partition just to be sure, it is not a file system inconsistency.

If that doesn't fix it, I would check then the console logs (applications > utilities > console.app) to see if it is reporting the issue during the backup.

If you still have no joy, I'd start to screw up files from your library folder (do not empty the trash so you can put back them) until I found what was causing the problem. Use menu bar to access the library in the Finder, and type in the library.

  • 6 s/iOS iPhone 9.3.5 Confusion of backup/restore/synchronize

I recently needed to backup, delete and restore my 6s more to unlock it by the carrier.

I downloaded iTunes on my laptop and made a captive backup via iTunes and also a backup over Wi - Fi to ensure against corruption.  According to receipt messages, eventually led both successfully.

I erased and reset the iPhone and tried to restore from backup in iTunes on my PC.  In the end, I received a message stating that certain elements could not be restored from the backup and would require synchronization.

Hoping to achieve a 'clean' restoration, I erased and reset the phone again and tried to restore it Wi - Fi, a process not fully understand because it does not seem to be a separate procedure.  It seems to restore part of the phone and the settings and the rest continue to download in the following hours.

In the hope of "sync" my way out of the long time requirement by it attach to the PC and the synchronization of the purchased and other content including iTunes transferred to my PC during the backup process.  Despite my PC containing all of the content of the phone in iTunes library files, synchronization of the results in a message that the phone has been synched to another iTunes to another PC library which no longer exists.

I can't be the first person to question why the iPhone and iTunes don't update automatically to recognize each other as current, as the whole purpose for phone synchronization was to restore the phone and the content on the same State after unlocking it by the carrier.  I don't want to remove any content that is saved in my computer, corrupt iTunes library or lose any multimedia content that has been saved and restored but now doesn't exist anywhere else.

I'm particularly stupid?  Surely others have encountered similar frustrations and most intelligent people I have discovered how to work in the arcane procedures of Apple.  I would be grateful for any helpful guidance that will help me to get my phone back to where it was a few hours before before releasing the carrier.  They of course don't warn you of this potential drawback - or I would have never bothered.

Thank you in advance to all those who provide useful assistance.

No, you're not stupid at all. I don't know what happened in your case, but the normal procedure would be to backup on iTunes (forget iCloud, not as good IMO), get your phone unlocked by the carrier and check it, then restore the backup. There are some things that would be included not in the restoration, as photo albums previously synchronized from a computer. You'd have to re-sync those still separately but not much there.

Try the above, once more and if this does not help, after return with specific details.

  • Time Machine backup does not

Time Machine: Do not back up available.

I have a number of issues at hand today.  I'll try to give a bit of history - so I apologize for the story.

Replaced my drive HARD crashed in October 2015.  I restored Mt upward, everything worked fine.  However, my TM return will not save - and does not sense Oct 2015.

I wiped the APTC and did a factory reset.  But it will not save. When I select the drive of the APTC, I get this: of the disc have been replaced or deleted, or someone may be trying to fool your computer into the incorrect disk backup. "Try to eject the disk image." I eject it, restart the backup process. The TM shows my old backup information (see screen capture below).

When I get the device works, I said can't find the backup to John...

    Please notify.

    iMac - El Capitan 10.11.3

TimeMachine uses the single disc Login name disk or something else instead.

It is lost in the transition from the disk dead again.

    Quit TimeMachine.

Connect the TC, open the TM preferences, click "Select disk", select the TC and then click on the button "Disk use".

Click on the 'Options' button, then drag the disks/Partitions that you do not want to be saved in the window, then click on "Save".

It may be that TM starts a new backup (which will take a while).

  • My backup on a NAS system in a separate Ethernet environment takes about 30 hours for 222GB

    Hello

someone has an idea how spee the backup process. Most of the time the transfer charge is not in MB/s but kb/s,

The NAS system is able to transfer 50 MB/s via an ethernet port matched.

But time machine is a pain. Anyone has a better solution

It is normal for a network backup. If you can make the first backup with a connection dirdct the incremental backups over the network so should not really be a problem

Thanks in advance for your help

    Hey there!

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I understand that you can not restore your PC by using the restore disks.

It seems that you did not follow the process of creating media recovery or data backup process.

If you are unable to restore the image by using the discs.

Please use this link to find out how to create a recovery media: http://hp.care/2byIEKi

However, you can contact HP and get a set of system recovery disks.

  • How can I make a backup of my ipad?

How can I save my Ipad? Just bought more storage and backup ipad attempted for the first time. backup begins, works for hours and then stops before completion. Restarts and the same thing again and again. It is said that he needs 2 days. Is such a long timr for a normal backup? And what I have to give up the ipad during this time? The backup stops because I opened the ipad?

What is the amount of storage that you used on your iPad and you purchased enough storage iCloud for storing all the data?

Also, initially, iCloud backup can give you a ridiculous amount of time, but as the data gets uploaded, the time should be reduced.

It may take a while for the download of backup. My backup of almost 50 GBs took between 6 and 7 hours to download.

You need to plug your iPad into wall power and let it operational (disable automatic locking and just turn the screen brightness way down and leave the iDevice completely active during the backup process.)

    That's what I do.
