Backup RMAN restore through different versions

Operating system: Solaris 10

I have a RDBMS only 11.2.0.3 Installing software in a server-> server B
I have my source DB running on another server, which is the version 11.2.0.1.0-> server A

Is it possible to RMAN backup the source DB version 11.2.0.1.0 and use it create a DB of 11.2.0.3.0 to Server B?

Is the same as 10.2.0.1.0 to 11.2.0.3.0?

Hello again;

11.2.0.1 doesn't have a higher House. It needs to be updated.

  • Cannot reinstall Dell backup and restore support center

    Hello

    A new Inspiron 3521. Upgrade to 8.1 Windows before you create backup discs. Now when I try to create the backup, get the message:

    Reinstall Dell backup and restore

    To use Dell backup and restore with this version of Windows, you must reinstall it from the original installation media or download files. If you are unable to locate the files or media, contact Dell, the manufacturer of Dell backup and restoration for more information.

    Cannot access it from support center - only lists updated, pilots not original (I already installed). When I try to do a scan for drivers, it never ends (leave it on for hours).

    Can anyone help? Thank you.

  • RMAN can back up/restore different versions of OS without worrying about Oracle databases

    Hello

    I am to evaluate Recovery Manager to back up and restore Oracle databases.

    I save/restore the Oracle data base diferents versions, these databases are running in different operating systems (AIX, LINUX, Windows)

    For example:
    Database Oracle 9 in AIX 5.3 system
    Database Oracle 10 system Lunix
    Database Oracle 9 in Windows system

    I want to have a single server RMAN for backup/restore all my databases Oracle, is it possible?

    A single RMAN server can backup/restore different versions of databases Oracle regardless of the operating system?

    If the answer is Yes, do I need to have an operting specif system in my RMAN Server? (AIX, Linux, Windows, etc.).

    Thanks for your help;

    On the new server, install the rman recovery catalog and save all databases.

    Then you can back up these databases independent of the platform and version by using the recovery catalog.

    However, some of the features that you backup cannot be used based on the version of database. For example, backup compression is available on 10g but not in 9i.

    Hi, if you can copy all the backupset on disk space then you can restore/recover your database.
    1 copy all backupsets (backups) at the location on the local drive.
    2 restore controlfile, catalogue, restoration/recovery and open the database.

    rman target /
    startup nomount;
    restore spfile from 'localdisklocation';/*which you backups copied there*/
    shutdown immediate;
    startup mount;
    restore controlfile from 'localdisklocation';
    alter database mount;
    catalog start with 'localdisklocation';
    restore database;
    recover database;
    alter database open;

  • Backup and restore of the different States of a database

    Hello

    In a development and test system, we want to save and restore the different States of the entire database.

    This means, we start with a full (TAG 1) backup of the database.
    On a day team has done in the database, after that we take a full backup (TAG 2).
    The next day, do us a restoration of the TAG 1 and the B team some works, after that, we take a full backup (tag 3).
    Then, we want to continue: restore from TAG 2, TAG 4 backup, restore TAG 3,...

    I tried follwing RMAN procedures:

    Backup (backup consistent cold)
    RMAN nocatalog target.

    SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
    FORCE START S/N;
    SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;
    BOOTABLE MEDIA;

    I think you are looking for incarnations. (I know you said 11g, the doc here is 10 g, I love the research/layout better than the 11g docs).

    If you use VM, it would be a way to go as well. Restore a snapshot.

  • Restore rman 10g with different data file name.

    Hi all.

    I am successful restoration sauvegardΘ (Veritas Netbackup) one 10.2.0.5 database.

    The original database was a 2 node Rac 10.2.0.5 on asm without OMF.

    I'm trying to restore on another host with the same version 10.2.0.5 and even platform (Sparc Solaris), but single instance database.

    RMAN complete successfully, the restore, but the names of the data files are different from what is written in the controlfiles so

    the database can go up but not open.

    It is not only a question of path, the look of database for a file of data like this:

    System.261.622119076 (the right way of the asm source environment)

    but instead, rman restore this data as a file

    o1_mf_system_2ixfh90q_.dbf

    This seems a name OMF.

    I don't understand the reason.

    Can I use the command set newname for each data file?

    Thanks in advance.

    I restored the database successfully.

    In init.ora I don't use the setting as a CONVERT.

    I don't know why but I had to restore archived log first. something like

    then:

    then

    According to the guidelines of this post, I shouldn't use

    for a full recovery.

    So, what should I do
    a.
    Should I use
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN ; -- I think I got some error with this command when i issued it after RMAN-06054 error . Can't recall what error

    b.
    Should I use

  • I could do a system backup/restore through the eRecovery without any additional software utility?

    I have an Acer Aspire One 532 H Netbook. I could do a system backup/restore through the eRecovery without any extra utility of Windows 7 to Acer recovery? If I have such software, how can I get it? Because my netbook not came with any utility recovery/program when I bought it. Need to respond as soon as POSSIBLE, my netbook is dying with the longer startup time and more.

    Nice day

    You must back up your data to an external HARD disk, etc. To reload your factory machine, click Start, all programs, acer erecovery management, restoration and completely restore the factory settings.

    Kind regards

  • Problem with the archive log when you use RMAN for backup and restore (11g 2)

    Hello world
    Please help me solve this problem.
    I'm just beginner in Oracle Database (11 g 2). Today, I had a problem, I tried to back up and restore my db by RMAN. I delete all the files in /u01/app/oracle/oradata/orcl / * , then I restore them easily, but the point is I have a table, I can restore Hungarian, but cannot restore anything ranks in it (something wrong with step restore database). I'll tell the detail below.
    -First, I create a 'Day' with command table create table hr.day (varchar (20)) day. Then I backup complete by this:
    run{
    allocate channel bkp device type DISK FORMAT '/u01/backup/DB_FULL_%d_%T_s%s_p%p' ;
    backup as compressed backupset incremental level 0 tag 'DB_FULL' database include current controlfile;
    backup as compressed backupset tag 'ARCL_BKP_FULL' archivelog all delete input;
    crosscheck archivelog all;
    crosscheck backup;
    delete noprompt obsolete;
    release channel bkp;
    }

    D ' other hand, I have insert 'Monday' to table. then do an incremental backup by this:

    run{
    allocate channel bkp device type DISK FORMAT '/u01/backup/DB_INC_%d_%T_s%s_p%p' ;
    backup as compressed backupset incremental level 1 tag 'DB_INC' database include current controlfile;
    backup as compressed backupset tag 'ARCL_BKP_INC' archivelog all delete input;
    crosscheck archivelog all;
    crosscheck backup;
    delete noprompt obsolete;
    release channel bkp;
    }

    Repeat 7 times (Monday-> Saturday). And I got these files:

    [oracle@rac ~]$ ls -l /u01/backup/
    total 400280

    If i ignore it and open the database, just my table in full backup come back but rows was not restored. I'm sure the problem is my archive log backup but i don't know how to solve it. Plz help me.

    Sorry for a long post.

    > 1 and from the 1205841 SNA sequence

    The SCN that indicates Oracle is above the range of SNA that you have in the ArchiveLog backups for sequence 1 to 15 (15 sequence ends at 1205840).

    The message

    channel ORA_DISK_1: restoring archives Journal

    Archives journal thread = 1 sequence = 15

    channel ORA_DISK_1: backup/u01/backup/DB_INC_ORCL_20160120_s117_p1 piece reading

    channel ORA_DISK_1: piece handle = / u01/backup/DB_INC_ORCL_20160120_s117_p1 tag = ARCL_BKP_INC

    indicates that he has restored the sequence up to 15

    You can check the log file alert database instance for messages on the fact of recovery.

    He is now asking sequence #1 it seems you did a RESETLOGS after sequence #15.

    Note: If you have NOT issued a COMMIT after the line is INSERTED in the table 'Day', the recovery of the database will have no * transactions * to retrieve.  An uncomitted transaction is cancelled.

  • Restoring a backup RMAN to a new instance of the database

    Hi guys,.

    I have a problem with restoring a backup RMAN I have with me a new instance of the database. I have with me are:

    1. backup of the SPFile. (O1_MF_NCNNF_CTLFILE_BU_92DVGYO2_. BKP)

    2. backup of the control file (O1_MF_NNSNF_SPFILE_BU_92DVGW9H_. BKP)

    3. the full backup (O1_MF_NNSNF_FULLPROD_BU_92DVGW9H_. BKP)

    I received these files to a client environment and I need to restore these to a new instance of the database on a local computer. I gave an attempt as follows (in Oracle 10 g):

    1, creates a new instance of the (Test75) database using the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant

    2 SET ORACLE_SID = Test75

    3 connection to this instance with RMAN

    4 tried to restore the SPFILE from the BKP file received.

    I make mistakes and cannot continue. I don't know if I will carry out the correct steps. Please help me telling me how I should achieve this goal.

    Thank you.

    1. backup of the SPFile. (O1_MF_NCNNF_CTLFILE_BU_92DVGYO2_. BKP)

    2 backup of control file (O1_MF_NNSNF_SPFILE_BU_92DVGW9H_. BKP)

    The first backuppiece resembles a ControlFile and the other looks like a SPFILE'

    > I get error and cannot continue

    What is the error?  (I assume that you have tried to restore the O1_MF_NNSNF_SPFILE_BU_92DVGW9H_ SPFILE. BKP

    Note that you must also SET the DBID before restoring the controlfile

  • RMAN restore different localization files

    Hello

    In backups rman, I kept it 3 /disk1,/disk2,sbt.now backup location I want to restore the datafile file or archive of the only place/disk2. How can I do this. I don't want to give the backupset name or tag etc etc. I can do affect channel to disk2.when I'm pointing to/disk2, she sits still for /disk1.

    Help, please

    Concerning

    You can not order from catalogue on the RMAN command line. The command line you entered does not work because it is simply wrong.

    Also regarding your request

    Three methods
    1 use a tag
    2 set up to what SNA or something pointing to the RCS of the backup located on disk2
    3 uncatalog all backups located on other drives
    4 restore a controlfile with only information about the backups on disk2

    Chinar does not understand allocate channel only processes of backup destinations.
