Batch delete unused files?

I have the project that has a large number of unused files. Since there is only the possibility to visualize in RoboHelp, I was wondering if someone at - he found a better way to remove except selecting and removing them piecemeal in Windows Explorer?

Thanks for your suggestions!

To remove the unused images, see: wvanweelden.eu/product/image-cleanup (free script)

What other types of file you want to delete? It would be enough siple to create a script to remove all unused files (i.e.: files that are not part of the RoboHelp.) Of course, if a topic is part of the project, but not used in the table of contents/IDX/other subjects, etc it is always used.

Take a bow

Select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Using the system restore option is most appropriate when your system is slow and you need to increase the free disk space on your C partition. If you have errors that could be solved by using the system restore to your system settings back to before the error occurred initially do not use this option.

If more than one person uses the computer and they have their own user log you need to run Disk Cleanup in each user profile that you want to delete all the unwanted files.

A better program of disk cleanup is cCleaner. Delete System Restore points may be important if you have little free disk space. The ability to delete them is one of the tools options. You can selectively remove those created in less important moments.

cCleaner comes with a registry tool. Do not use this tool as any registry cleaner could lead to the creation of very difficult to resolve system errors.

  • Delete the unused files from preview

Is there a way to delete unused (as in, no longer used) the preview of files that creates the first?

First of ALL - you have an effect on a clip.  You preview out.  A preview of a file is created.

SECONDLY - you can remove the effect and apply a novel effect.  You preview out.  A preview of a file is created.

If I understand right now, the second AND THE FIRST two preview files remain on the system, despite the fact that it is now impossible for first ever use your first preview made.  I am mistaken on this point?

If I'm not mistaken, is there a way to remove all unused preview files so they don't clutter up my hard drive?

There is no way to remove unused.  It is a scenario, all or nothing.

  • Deleting some files...

Is there a program available to help me decide what files can I delete?  These old or unused files.

    AJgilroy,

A good starting point would be the disk cleanup tool.

The disk cleanup tool lets you free up space on your hard disk by searching your disk for files that you can safely remove. You can choose to delete some or all of the files. Use Disk Cleanup to perform the following tasks to free up space on your hard disk:

    • Delete temporary Internet files.
    • Delete downloaded program files. For example, controls ActiveX and Java applets that are downloaded from the Internet.
    • Empty the trash.
    • Remove Windows temporary files.
    • Remove optional Windows components that you don't use.
    • Remove installed programs that you no longer use.

You can start disk cleanup, by doing one of the following:

    • Click Startand then click run. In the Open box, type cleanmgr, and then click OK.
      -or-
    • Click Start, point to programs, point to Accessories, point to System Toolsand then click on Disk Cleanup.

  • Win 7 64 bit: How do I permanently delete selected files

I don't want to erase my hard drive; I want to just delete some files and already deleted files. Is it already a program in Windows, or what I need to download something (free, I hope)?

    Hello

Most of the data files you just delete and delete from the trash (or hold down SHIFT when you remove
to stop the file to be sent to the trash). For programs you would uninstall them - use Revo
-Free to ensure that they are removed carefully. After deleting files or uninstall the program then
wipe free space helps prevent their recovery.

If you have trouble to remove problematic files:

Add 'Ownership' to the Menu Popup Explorer in Windows 7 or Vista
    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/add-take-ownership-to-Explorer-right-click-menu-in-Vista/

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-Windows-7-or-Vista-right-click-menu/

You can try in Safe Mode - several times F8 tap that you start.

    Login as an administrator.

If Safe Mode does not help (and it may) try these.

  • Batch deletion

I thought it was probably a newb question, but I have not been able to find exactly this topic elsewhere on the forum. I'm trying to recreate an existing HR HTML Help system. We do not have the source files, so I'm importing HTML pages. I'm able to import pages in a batch, but once they are in the Active Directory of Project/project file manager directory, I see know average in this UI element tree to remove several files.

I tried using CTRL or SHIFT and selecting files muliple, that does not work. I see that you can open the directory in Explorer, but they are not organized the same way. My concern is that even if I delete the file in this way, it will leave orphaned files and create a mess in the directory. Similarly, my other question is if when you delete a topic of project in the UI of HR files, it also remove automatically files associated, such as graphics?

    Thanks in advance.
