BEFCMU10 worm 4 speed modem cable

I have a modem cable BEFCMU10 ver 4 and I'm trying to find out if there is no built in download speed limit. I've recently upgraded to 16 MB of Charter service, but never saw much more than 6 MB and generally less. They suggested that before we get to check my lines, make sure that my modem is capable of this speed. I didn't know they could have limits, but said that some are not capable of this speed.

Thank you, now I just have to confirm exactly if the Charter refers to the bits or bytes with their speed ratings. Appreciate your help.

  • Problem with TC loss of connection to the modem cable

I have a TC of 2 TB which is connected to my ISP provided by cable modem. It worked fine for 3 months after the installation in December, but now all of a sudden it will lose its connection to the modem and we lose our wireless internet. We have replaced the modem cable and it does not solve the problem. I have to reset the TC 2 - 3 times a day. Nothing else has changed recently with regard to the network set up. that only changes were to specific devices that use the wifi connection, and this was always something changing, depending on the devices we use. Any thoughts? I'm not a savvy person tech, BTW.

We need to ask a few questions in order to learn more on what the possible cause of the problem might be.  Please be patient with this. Thank you.

What is the number and the model of the modem you are using right now?  We ask because some modems work better than others with Apple routers, and even if you have changed the modem, it could still be a model who does not get along well with the Apple router... or... you could say that the router from Apple does not get along well with the modem.

How old is the TC? We ask because the life expectancy, on average, a time capsule is about 3 years.  After that, they tend to start losing connections to an ever-increasing rate.

Who is your provider of Internet (ISP) Service?  We ask because most suppliers are in the active process of implementation of a new type of connection called IPv6 in their systems... and despite ISPS claiming that their system changes should cause no difficulties connection or interruptions system... which doesn't seem to be the case at all.

We have seen an unusual number of reports from users who suddenly have problems with their ISP connection, when things were very well for many months before. That points directly to the IPv6 changes that ISPS are doing as the culprit. In some cases, there could be way to work around the problem, and in some cases, there is nothing to do but wait as the ISP to complete their changes and be everything to speed.

  • Satellite M60: Little or no connectivity with the Modem cable

    Hello.

I just got a Satellite M60, and I'll have limited connectivity or none when I try to connect to the internet via my Modem cable through the local network.
OS is WIN XP Home SP2 PTG and I restored the original instalation, but nothing seems to work.

    Thank you

    Hello

What do you mean by limited connectivity?
Did you check the system for viruses and worms?
On the other hand, the active virus protection software can make your stream slowly or active. In addition, you check the cable lan for a few bows.

  • What is best modem cable to twin with new extreme apple 802.11 ac

I have an old motorola sb6121 paired with new apple 802.11ac extreme I bought yesterday and after 12 hours of trying everything I keep getting disconnected every few seconds... I have read all the message concerned and tried them all to play nice... When I have more signals 85 Mbps because I pay for the explosion of comcast.  I want a new modem and would like to know what is recommended... I see zoom 5141j is recommended, but I see zoom a modem cable new 16 x 4... It would be to my advantage to go with vx 16 x 4 8 x 4 channels at the time of the twinning with extreme? Thank you

What is best modem cable pair with the new 802.11ac Apple extreme

Questions like this are indeed impossible to answer... especially because that person has tested every modem with an AirPort Extreme to see if there is really a modem 'best '.  Even if it were possible to come with a modem 'best' but... it would be judicious bit to choose this modem and then knowledge that was not supported by Comcast.

Therefore, a better plan for you may be to search a list of modems supported by Comcast, narrow your choices down to 3-4 products, then post this list here and ask other users of Comcast comments on how the products have performed for them.  You can also consider posting on a forum online from Comcast as well.

Regarding your question about the new Zoom modem, this product is really new, so it will be some time before a work experience can be developed for this product. It seems that the new Zoom modem is designed primarily for working with connections to high speed... 600, 700, 800 + Mbps Internet speeds. So, unless you plan to upgrade to a plan of Internet connection with these types of speeds in the near future, you probably don't need a modem with this type of functionality.

  • Upgrade to modem cable with router?

I plan to upgrade my modem cable to take advantage of the increased speed that Comcast now offers in our region. I think my Airport Extreme of 2007 could be a brake on the increase in the speed of a new modem. I would like to know if it is better to buy a new modem cable with built-in wifi router.

My current Airport Extreme supports two iMacs (24 "in 2007 and a 27 '' 2010), two iPhones and iPad two minis. My current cable modem offers 34 mb/s download speeds and download about 6 MB/s.

I will be grateful for any advice... Thank you

I think my Airport Extreme of 2007 could be a brake on the increase in the speed of a new modem.

There are 2 different versions of AirPort Extreme offered in 2007... a 1st generation version and the 2nd generation.

The 1st generation version will manage an Internet connection speed of up to about 100 Mbps. The 2nd generation version will manage up to 350-400 Mbps.

If your new service provider will be 100 Mbit/s or lower, it is not really important what version you have. Either the version of AirPort Extreme will take care of this service.

If your new service will be 100 + Mbps, then you will have the Gen version 2nd of the airport to take advantage of the higher speeds.

IF you have the 1st generation AirPort Extreme... And... your new service will be well above 100 Mbps... THEN... it might be a good idea to take a look at a new modem/router.

HOWEVER... If your new service will be less than 100 Mbps... so you probably won't receive any improvement with a new modem/router and it would be wise to simply continue to use the airport until it fails.

So an important question here might be... what version of AirPort Extreme do you have?

Another important issue could be... your current modem will support the service high speed?

Open the AirPort on your Mac utility and you should be able to know which version of airport you have.  If you can provide the serial number and model of your modem, we will see if we can find out what he can do.

If you wondering if Comcast, you should know that the person you speak to will probably receive a bonus if you order a new modem or new modem/router...so you may not receive an unbiased opinion on their part.

Finally, there are a number of users who believe that, as a general rule that you need to replace a modem or a router in about 5 years... even if it doesn't work OK. So, you might get some interesting opinions together.

Yes, Firefox should work correctly with this type of broadband services.

  • Airport extreme for modem cable via an ethernet switch?

I can connect the airport extreme to the modem cable via an ethernet switch, or must the extreme connect directly to the modem?

The answer to your question depends on what type of "modem" cable you may have.

If you have a simple modem, as in the example below with a single port Ethernet, your network should look like this:

Internet > Modem > AirPort Extreme > Switch and other devices.

If you have a modem/router, which is actually a modem and a router separate which are combined in a single package, looking for something like the example below, your network may look like this:

Internet > Modem/Router > switch > AirPort Extreme and other devices

or... it might look like this:

Internet > Modem/Router > AirPort Extreme > switch and other devices

If you do not know what kind of modem you have, post back with the number of brand and model of the device that you call your "modem", and we will do some checking.

  • How close my TC must be to my modem cable?

No matter how close I place my modem cable to my time capsule? Because only the TC will issue wireless signal I assumed that there would be no interference. Am I wrong? The modem is declining by the signal several times a day and I was wondering what could interfere with the signal. Should I ask a new modem IP address?

    Thank you

    Michael

At this point, you really don't know if you have a problem with the modem, dropping the signal... or the TC dropping the signal.

The way to know is temporarily connect your computer directly to the modem using an Ethernet cable connection, turn it off wireless on the computer and keeps things set up that way for a day or two to watch the connection.

If the signal continues to fall... so that points to a modem that is bad and must be replaced.

However, if him you continue to have a good signal without problems when the computer is connected directly to the modem, then the model is fine and the problem can probably be with the TC... and additional troubleshooting will be required.

If the modem does not transmit a wireless signal, the TC can be found anywhere you want within reasonable limits... but you do not want to locate the TC on top of the modem or something like that. Leave a margin for products to get some air.

  • computer not automatically standby (formerly titled "impossible computer automatically sleep when it is connected to the internet with modem cable")

Hi, I noticed recently that my computer (Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005) is unable to sleep automatically when it is connected to the internet with a cable modem. Change the settings for my current power mode and try a different feeding regime (diagrams of Windows XP default power and power management, I created) only solves the problem for 2 days at most. I also tried to change the settings for the other power plans mentioned, and yet once again, the problem was only set for two days at the most. I also tried turning off my computer, restarting my computer, recording Powercfg /Restore Default policies in Run, saving sfc/scannow in Run, and again, I got the same result. Reset and power cycling the modem cable is not helped either. To help you better understand the problem, for example, if I had the date set for the screensaver set to 1 minute, the time for the monitor to turn off set to 2 minutes and time for your computer set to 3 minutes, the screen saver activate after 1 minute, the monitor turns off after 2 minutes, but the computer would not sleep mode after 3 minutes , even after an hour or more. I tried to check the Task Manager, and I have not noticed any process that would be interrupting the day before. However, I noticed that when I turned on the monitor by moving the mouse, even when the computer was unable to sleep and unplugged the ethernet cable from the cable modem and waited, the computer has entered standby as it should have.  I tried to find a solution for more than a week, contributions for this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. (Update: it seems that the problem is something else then my cable modem.)

    Hello

    Thank you for the update.

This behavior can occur because of possible conflicts of third-party software, which includes the third-party security software.

You can also temporarily disable third-party security software and firewalls installed on the system and check the issue.

If disabling the antivirus software solves the problem, you may need to configure the settings of the antivirus as a result program. Please contact the software vendor for assistance in this regard.

Note: be sure to enable the security software on the computer after checking the issue.

Note: When you perform a clean boot, you can activate services for the modem, network card and disable third-party services to check the issue.

Hope the helps of information. Let us know if you need help with Windows related issues. We will be happy to help you.

  • Why must know the MAC address cable modem if I bought a new modem cable or ISP company.

Original title: why the ISP or cable modem company need to know my cable modem MAC address if I bought a new one, beside that received from a modem cable or ISP company?

Why the ISP or cable modem company need to know my modem cable MAC address if I bought a new one, beside that received from a modem cable or ISP company?

The cable provides tend to lock their network by MAC address or they assign you an IP address based on your cable modem MAC address.

Some (for example cable Telewest in the United Kingdom), used to go as far as locking down for the mac address of the PC connected to the cable modem, which is why some routers have the ability to clone the mac address of a connected device.
  • [WAG200G] problem to connect to the modem cable Alloys Atlanta Dcp2203

    Hi all!

I recently got my new cable internet access (I used to have DSL) and I want to use my WAG200G to distribute internet by air.

When I connect my laptop to the Dcp2203 of Atlanta Alloys via ethernet, I get an external IP (200.XXX.XXX.XXX). I need to adjust my ethernet interface get ip dynamically to achieve this.

    Now I need to connect Dcp2203-(ethernet)---> WAG200G - wifi---> portable

How can I configure my WAG200G to work using this structure?

    Thanks to you all!

You can't really use your WAG here. You will need a router ethernet, not a DSL router.

The only thing you can do is use the WAG as access point and connect the laptop directly to the internet. This works as long as you don't want to connect a device to the internet at any time. You will not be able to connect 2 or more at the same time, because your ISP only allows you to have an active connection at any time.

To set this up, you will need to connect a computer to the WAG. Open the web interface of the WAG to http://192.168.1.1/ to first set up your wireless network (SSID, enable WPA2 Personal Security with AES encryption and a password strong change). Disable the DHCP server on the main settings page.

Then one of the ethernet wire ports of the WAG in your modem cable. Now you can connect wireless to the WAG and the WAG access to the internet and the modem. New: your computer will have direct access to the internet and will have a public IP address. You can't have two active connections at the same time.

If you need to make changes on the WAG, you set a static IP address on your computer, for example 192.168.1.2 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Then you can access the web at http://192.168.1.1/ interface when you have completed your changes, go back to the DHCP/Auto IP on your computer.

Otherwise, you should get a router, for example Wireless Linksys WRT routers.

  • How know if the router or modem cable is the problem with bad internet?

I have intermittent problems of internet home.  The internet goes out for very short periods, then back on several times a day. At various periods of time, usually in bunches up.  Then sometimes instead of being down for maybe a normal 15-30 seconds, it could last 5-20 minutes.  And there are also periods of hours sometimes where the speed is VERY slow.

When he is not at all working, Airport utility looks like in the following screenshot, with the orange Internet and other green devices.  Sometimes, it only shows the Internet icon and light, with nothing else underneath.  If the internet is very slow (and I mean really slow, like minute 2 page load or not at all), everything is green, including the Internet icon.

It is the Charter cable with a modem surfboard, connected to an older Airport Extreme (in mode not wireless) model, which is connected to three aircraft from the airport, you can see in the screenshot.  Everything works very well for 8 years, but these problems have taken place in recent months. I replaced since the cable modem for a brand new, I have reset the Airport Extreme to the factory settings and tried all sorts of other things.

It isn't the wireless aspect, because I can connect a computer to the ethernet jack and it has the same problems.

So here's what I want to know: is there a way I can tell if it's the Airport Extreme or if it's the Internet Charter being flaky?  (I know it's not the cable modem because it does the same thing that before I replaced it).  I just want to isolate the problem. I don't want to succumb to Charter calling again, as we think the run around, I'm going to forward all tech would come home, and they never admits to have flaky internet.

I bought a bolt of lightning to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter so I can plug my Macbook Air directly into the cable modem, without going through the Airport Extreme, but internet is not stay down long enough for me to access, plug it in and reboot the cable modem.   Frustrating.

Suggest that you connect the MacBook Air directly to the modem, connect the Mac to the Internet and keep an eye on the MacBook Air from time to time for at least one day complete.  A few days would be even better, if possible.

If the connection remains strong during your 'test', based on other information that you provide as...

connected to an older model Airport Extreme

    and

Everything works very well for 8 years

The first thought that comes to mind is that life expectancy, on average, for airport routers is about 5 years. It's on food, on average, at the start of the descent position.  Momentary grave start occurring, and the drops will increase in frequency over time.

It is a bet of $20, but you might consider replacing the external power for AirPort Extreme see if that provides any assistance.  This does nothing for the internal power inside the airport of course components.

  • SpeedTest E3000 50 percent SLOWER when I connect the PC directly to the Modem cable

    Hello

My ISP is Comcast and I've recently updated my service to have up to 50 MB speeds yo and upward at 10 MB.

    My router is the E3000.

When I connect my PC directly to a cable modem and perform a speed test (www.speedtest.net), I get 61 MB download and about 11 download fairly regularly.

Now when I use the router configuration to connect my PC to the E3000 and then run the speed test, I get 50% LESS!  So, my download is on average around 30-31 MB and my upload is 4 to 5 MB.

In fact, I thought it was the E3000 and went out and bought a Netgear and got the same results.

In both cases, I have updated the firmware to the latest version and I also updated my PC to the latest drivers adapater.

I even tried to manually set the MTU to 1500.  Nothing works!  It is still 50% less achievement when I connect through a router.

I expect a bit of slowdown during the connection through the router, but certainly not 50%.  And, Yes, 50% is consistent.

Any ideas on what could cause this 50% slower?

    Thank you!

Well, I agree on that. Speedtest.NET is not accurate. I don't even use it to measure my speed of internet connection.

If your connection is 50Mbps, then you should get 6.2MBps more or less of download speed. It is normal that you get at least 80% of your download speed.

I think that there is no problem at all with your connection.
