BEFSR41 and reduced connection speed

I got cable high speed last week, and with it connected directly to my PC, I got amazing 28-33 Mbps connection speeds.

So I plugged the router today to coonect mine and my wife (via Cat5) PC to cable and now I get only about 5 Mbit/s.

The router choking off the coast of flow? Do I need a different model that can handle the speed?

What the BEFSR41 version do you have?

This problem of slowness "WAN to LAN speed" has been reported with version 1 and version 2.  Version 2 seems to be limited to about 7 Mbps.   Version 1 is slower.

  • Connection speed 2.4 Ghz E3000 and USB HDD

I use WRT160N for my internet and wifi at home. For the storage of the laptop, I use Seagete Free Agent 2 TB USB 3.0, which is nice by car.

So I desided to buy E3000 and use as storage server, router, internet and wifi.

I install everything, he went peaty smoot.

During installation, I noticed that 2.4 GHz wifi shows only max 150 Mbps, but 5 GHz 300 Mbps connection speed (I use wifi mini card dell 1510 on my Dell laption, supports the 2.4 and 5 GHz).

I tried different things to the 2.4 GHz to display connection 300Mbps speed (disable 5 GHz option, set the mode to "N" only, always use WPA2, etc.), but without success. When I connect to the old WRT160N, I can see 300Mbps speed of connection.

Can you advice what settings should I set up, so that I can use connection to the E3000 300Mbps?

The second bit I want to share and comment on is the access speed to the reader of the UBS.

When I connect to the reader directly on my laptop, I am limited to 32 MB/s (256Mbps) read/write speed (the laptop is USB2.0, so it seems normal).

Now, when I write of the E3000 max speed wifi I do is about 3 to 3.5 MB/s (24-28Mbps) and when it is connected to the local network (100 Mbps) speed is about 4 - 4. 5 MB/s (32-36 Mbps).

It seems slow, peaty compared to the speed of the USB. 5 GHz wifi rate shows 300Mbps connection 144Mbps speed/2.4 Ghz (which is 18 MB/s), so that the router should be able to keep read/write rate highter.

Is this a problem E3000 or this is the max I can get material in there?

    1. it's a router not a storage attached to the network power house. If you want a NAS with high performance get a NAS. The USB HDD is more for practical reasons, then for high performance. Drive speeds you see through the router are good enough for a device like this. Check what CPU you have in your E3000 and which processors they use in NAS devices that are able to provide data of 250 Mbit/s from a connected USB device and you will see that it is a completely different League...

    2. the 150 Mbps is a rate of 20 MHz. The connection uses only a band of 20 MHz and not a 40 Mhz. This is usually due to one of these two reasons:

    a. many pilots (for example Intel Centrinos) wireless equipped with 20 MHz preconfigured on the band 2.4 GHz. It will link ever more quick then 150 Mbps, unless you change the configuration of the driver.

    b. most / all new routers observe interference of signal on the tapes and automatically returns to 20 MHz mode, if they find too much interference. If you have many other access points in your proximity 40 MHz would mean more than twice the interference on the connection. Any other communication on stuck on 40 MHz channels would interfere with your communication. With a lot of traffic interfering on the range 2.4 GHz, you would see very low real rates if you forced 40 MHz in this case.

And your neighbors using 802.11 g wouldn't really appreciate your bandwidth hogging. Because of the limited number of channels without overlapping on the 2.4 GHz band a router running on 40 MHz basically use 2/3 of the total available on the entire 2.4 GHz band available bandwidth. The execution of 40 MHz in a neighborhood with many other access points is all just a terrible idea...

  • MediaPlayBack download progress and connection speed

    Hello
When I use the MediaPlayback component, I know it's a download progress when the .flv (not) reside on the same server, but my question is he takes care of the user connection speed or it starts when the forst frame is loaded. If she doesn't take care of the user connection speed, I put a buffer to prevent slaughter in the middle of the film, because it plays faster it loads.

    Someone knows the answer.
    Tanx in advance

The buffer care only how much is charged and he began to play the movie, you have to do the rest of the book. If you know that your audience uses mainly high-speed connections, then the default value (.01 seconds) is fine. If 56 k users watch videos online, you may be able to buffer up to 30 seconds for them to see smooth (depnds on their speed of dl and your movie file size).

  • Time Capsule reducing Hardwired speed

I have a gigabit ethernet connection and became speeds as last year.

I recently noticed things were slow.  I'm not to lift more than 90 and 90 below.  I called my service provider who contacted the society of fiber and they claimed that I have a device that is connected that can not handle the gigabit connection.  I the end 2014 27 "iMac and the latest version of time capsule (updated to 7.7.3) so I know that they're wrong.  In addition, I received rates preceding earlier.  They had me connect my modem directly on the computer and of course I got new speeds.  Running the wired connection through the router, it seems that my time capsule limits my speed.  I Googled it and can't find anything.  Help!

It is useful to know if the Capsule acts as a router DHCP and NAT for your network, or if your "modem" will carry the router for the network and the time Capsule is configured in Bridge Mode.

We assume that you have checked to make sure that the Ethernet cable is not in place and reducing speeds... because a bad connection will pass a Mbps 1 000 potential up to approximately 100 Mbps speeds.

We also assume that you have turned off and restarted several times Time Capsule.

Can you check the setting of your Time Capsule router Mode and a report on that?  To do this...

Open the AirPort on your Mac utility (Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility )

Click on the image of the Time Capsule

Click Edit in the window that appears

Click on the network at the top of the screen

If you want your Apple Watch to stay connected to the phone, you need to keep compatible BlueTooth.

All functions of the phone will use up the battery life. Some things more than others. Screen brightness, low cell signal strength and location services are major culprits. If you are having battery problems, see this article:

  • Questions about Wi - Fi connection speeds

I want to my wi - fi connection speed for my wireless devices. I use an Airport Extreme 4th gen, with an Apple Express 2nd generation. All devices are 802.11n, but iPhones have ac 802.11. I have an Apple TV and a Yamaha AV receiver as well using a Wi - fi connection and doing very well. My Internet speed to my iMac (cable) is constantly 88 MB/s. But two rooms, the living room, my devices see speeds Internet 12-15 Mbps. Two walls and 25 feet between the two.

A new 6th gen AE would give me better speeds of Wi - fi? Alternatively, would be faster Internet? I pay for 75 Mbps. I realize to reposition my router AE could help, especially to move it to another room, but I like the speed of a wired connection to my iMac, which I use for work. If I got a new AE, I would probably opt for a time Capsure, but I think I read somewhere that he does not like working on 802.11n. My wife has a MacBook Air using the Apple Express... and she obviously would like to back up on a TC instead of his external hard drive attached to the MB.

A new 6th gen AE would give me better speeds of Wi - fi?

    Yes and no.

Yes, if you ask on the speed of connection Wi - Fi between devices on your ' LAN '. Given that iPhones are capable of 802.11ac, they would connect to faster speeds if they are in close proximity to the extreme AriPort.  Other 802.11n devices will connect to the same speed as they do now.

No, if you ask if your connection Internet Wi - Fi speed will improve, since the speed of your Internet connection is controlled by your provider of Internet Service (ISP).  If you want faster Internet connection speeds, you need to talk to your ISP a faster Internet connection package.

The trick to good Wi - Fi connection speeds in your network is to have Wi - Fi devices in the same room, or line-of-sight with the wireless router. On average, even a normal wall in a House will slow down the speed of 20 to 25%, so if the signal must pass through several obstacles, the speed of the signal drops dramatically.

Sometimes, the only way to maintain good speeds is to add another AirPort router in another area where you need faster speeds and connect airports together using a wired Ethernet connection.  In the largest House, it is not uncommon to see four or five airports used to get good coverage throughout the House.

My House is not big, about 2200 square feet, and it takes three airports to cover the good, fast throughout the House.

I would probably opt for a time Capsure, but I think I read somewhere that he does not like working on 802.11n.

As you know, a Capsule is an AirPort Extreme with a built-in hard drive. Otherwise, there is no difference between a Time Capsule 802.11ac and an AirPort Extreme 802.11 ac.

I'm not aware of any report or other documentation that would indicate that the products do not like working on 802.11n. I have an AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule, and both do just fine with "ac" and "n" devices.

  • Cox and ipv6 connectivity

I was told by Cox cable, since decmebre 2015 that the Airport extreme is causing intermittent problems with internet connection when you use the internet service from cox and this is due the iPV6 issue. They are trying to restore service, but have not solved the problem. Does anyone know what it is and how to turn off connectivity iPV6 on my extreme choices of internet options apple will affect my internet experience that is speed and safety, or not at all?

Change the Internet setting for IPv6 on your AirPort Extreme could help maintain your Internet connection, which is more stable, but it will disable also any IPv6 service that may be available on the Cox system.  Security and connection speed are not affected.

Another way to say the same thing, is that your AirPort Extreme will behave the same way he did before Cox began to incorporate recent changes to IPv6 in its system. Before Cox implementation of IPv6 changes, there is no problems with Apple routers.

Apparently, Cox took the decision to implement IPv6 in its system differently than other suppliers, and it is causing issues with Apple routers. I don't know if other brands are affected.

If it is an Apple problem or a problem of Cox is open to question, but it might be interesting to note that users of Comcast and Time Warner are not having these same problems with Apple routers IPv6, while we see many posts from users of Cox almost every day.

I got IPv6 running on a connection to Time Warner here for about six months with zero problems. A friend who has Comcast service reports even.

As far as I know, Apple has all the instructions on it, not is not possible to say at this point that the issue is all about Apple, Apple and part of Cox, or Apple is not actively involved in the problem at all.

  • JWNR2010v5 (N300 wireless router) will support 100 Mbps connection speed internet in LAN?

I intend to upgrate my internet connection speed of 60Mbps to 100 Mbps, but my provider says JWNR2010v5 (N300 wireless router) will not support 100 Mbps internet connection speed in LAN. Your provider is correct. Either move your router to a router which supports! 000Mbps (MGI) LAN and WAN ports or stay at your current speed Interent.

  • Vs direct wireless connection speed.

I have been using a WRT610N router for several years.  A couple of weeks, I bought an iPad 2.  I don't know if this is a limitaion to the iPad 2 or a problem of connection speed wireless, but when you watch the video You Tube music videos often stops and I have to press the play button to resume.  This happens more often if I use a headset Blue Tooth connected connected headphones direct, leading me to the initial conclusion that I see the limits of the processor in the iPad 2.  However, I recently downloaded the application of www.speedtest.net speed Test and found that the wireless download speed varies from topic 11-15Mbps, depending on (normal vs. next to the router).  If I go on this web site and run the speed test of my PC connected directly (connected to 1 Gbps), I tend to 36 Mbps download speed (swollen I know because Comcast so-called speed is limited to 25 Mbps).

    Opinions?

Let me clarify my speed with Comcast.  I currently have "Blast".  "Blast" currently has a limitation of maximum download speed 25 Mbit/s, excluding the "Power boost".  The limit is imposed by the startup file that has been uploaded to the D3 modem provided by Comcast.  I expect the download speed connected direct to be connected wireless speed, not just much lower.

I think that the download speed is not the problem.  I have convinced myself now that the real problem is the limits of treatment of the iPad 2. This is based on the fact that when I came to you Tube this AM of the Wi - Fi in a local mall today, the download speed is only about 1 Mbps, but I saw no significant difference in the performance of video playback on my connection from 11 to 15 Mbps at home.

  • E2000 low connection speeds

I recently "upgraded" my router from a WRT54G for the E2000 and changed my computers wireless to USB - N adapters. At first, they were only 54 Mbps but found that I had to use WPA2 (I was in WPA) and after the change is made, I got from around 107Mbps to 130Mbps connections. (Even if these are dual band adapters, I can't enjoy 300Mbps because I left the Router 2.4 Ghz only because I have some only portable wireless-G and I understand that you can not on 5 GHz router because they do not connect.)  In any case, a few days later, when I checked these computers wireless n connection speed, one was at 5 Mbps, another 20 - something.  The signal strength is good at computers, as it has always been.  This router "modifies" speeds "as needed" or something?  Any help is greatly appreciated!

I think 2.4 GHz is faster than the 5 GHz Wireless band.

You can connect the router WRT54G of E2000 router to create a new 2.4 Ghz wireless network and allows you to broadcast the signal 5 GHz E2000 wireless router.

The BEFSR41 nor the WRT54G have a VPN server. They don't support VPN. You can only run your own VPN server inside your LAN and to connect to one.

  • BEFSR41 Ver 3 connection to the modem Motorola 2210 problem

I have a simple (I hope) home office network configuration.  I have a router Linksys BEFSR41 Ver 3, a Vonage phone device, a couple of computers and printers all hooked into the router.  The problem appeared when my old modem is dead.  I replaced the old modem with the Motorola 2210 (from AT & T) and configure the modem, so now the internet works if I plug the line directly into my computer.  When I try to run it through the Linksys router, the signal comes through.  I've turned off and rebooted twice and the second time I did it in a particular order, but still no signal through the router.

I see that the IP address of the router is 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.254 is the modem.  It seems that something needs to be reset somewhere, but since I'm no computer, I don't know what to reset where...  I read the other posts and they speak to reset a PPPoE on the BEF, but where do you do that?  And is there something different about my router 3 worm?    Any help is appreciated... I'm pretty frustrated and miss me phone calls from my device Vonage is not connected...

Thank you very much in advance...

    Leslie

You the problem is that you try to use the same subnet 192.168.1.x into the WAN (Internet) port and the LAN of your BEFSR41 ports.  You can't do that.

Your modem is apparently made your PPPoE connection for you.  So you should NOT repeat this PPPoE connection in the BEFSR41.

    Setting network, follow these steps:

    (1) put your entire network.

    (2) disconnect all other devices BEFSR41.

    (3) connect your computer to one of the four ports LAN on the BEFSR41.

    (4) turn on the BEFSR41 and your computer.

    (5) point your browser to 192.168.1.1 and connect to your BEFSR41.

    (6) change the "Internet Connection Type" to «DHCP - auto»

    (7) change "local IP address" 192.168.2.1

    8) click the 'Save Settings' button, and then wait the screen refresh (3-60 seconds).  You will be disconnected from the BEFSR41.  Don't worry about this.

    (9) turn off the BEFSR41 and your computer.

    (10) wire the ethernet port of your modem to the Internet (WAN) on the BEFSR41 port.  Leave your computer connected to the BEFSR41.

    (11) power of your network.  It should work.

BEFSR41 using you now on its LAN ports 192.168.2.x subnet.  You can now connect to the BEFSR41 facility to 192.168.2.1

  • Connection speed problems - black WUSB54GC usb adapter

    Hello everyone,

This is my first post here!

I googled nothing helped, and so I thought I would record with the Linksys forum and see if maybe I can solve this problem that others may have as well.

I recently installed black WUSB54GC usb wireless adapter on my desktop PC, windows XP (now updated with service packs, etc.)

The adapter receives the complete signal (very good - excellent, 54 Mbps), but it seems that my download speeds are capped with this adapter. Web pages same way load more slowly. I can place the macbook from my girlfriend directly next to my office, connected to exactly the same wireless network, and its download speed, browser speed and speed test results are always twice as me (any site speed test I use or what file I download).

When I do a speed test, almost seems as if the speedometer needles few want to continue, but they just 'bounce', as they are hitting some kind of ceiling.

When downloading files, the macbook on average 500 to 800 Kbps, while the adapter WUSB54GC hangs out at approximately 90 kbps.

I have read in this forum and have adjusted my router Linksys WRT54G wireless suggested as follows:

-Set the channel 11-2 wireless, 462 GHz

-Change the interval of tag to 75

-Change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304

-Change the RTS threshold to 2304

In addition, my connection speed is even slower, regardless if I have the settings TCP/IP (under the Wi - Fi connection properties) set manual (static ip) or automatically.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I would like to be able to get this thing working properly, knowing that my router is pumping a lot more than this adapter is letting me use.

    Thank you!

Well, I think I solved the problem.

Seems that in some ports USB on my motherboard (Asus P5B) do not allow to run at full speed wireless USB adapter. I had used in the rear ports on my computer... but the passage for the first ports (that came with the case - Thermaltake Armor) seems to have solved the problem. However, as I believe that all of the USB ports I have is strange Hi-speed USB 2.0 and strange that those outside that came with the case and will connect to the pins on the motherboard works better than those actually built. Huh.

Wouldn't be something to do with the drivers for the WUSB54GC, or is this a problem with USB port drivers?

In any case, I'm sorry if this sounds like a useless thread now, but maybe this someone solve other problems too.

    See you soon!
