BEFSR41 Ver 3 connection to the modem Motorola 2210 problem

I have a simple (I hope) home office network configuration.  I have a router Linksys BEFSR41 Ver 3, a Vonage phone device, a couple of computers and printers all hooked into the router.  The problem appeared when my old modem is dead.  I replaced the old modem with the Motorola 2210 (from AT & T) and configure the modem, so now the internet works if I plug the line directly into my computer.  When I try to run it through the Linksys router, the signal comes through.  I've turned off and rebooted twice and the second time I did it in a particular order, but still no signal through the router.

I see that the IP address of the router is 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.254 is the modem.  It seems that something needs to be reset somewhere, but since I'm no computer, I don't know what to reset where...  I read the other posts and they speak to reset a PPPoE on the BEF, but where do you do that?  And is there something different about my router 3 worm?    Any help is appreciated... I'm pretty frustrated and miss me phone calls from my device Vonage is not connected...

Thank you very much in advance...

Leslie

You the problem is that you try to use the same subnet 192.168.1.x into the WAN (Internet) port and the LAN of your BEFSR41 ports.  You can't do that.

Your modem is apparently made your PPPoE connection for you.  So you should NOT repeat this PPPoE connection in the BEFSR41.

Setting network, follow these steps:

(1) put your entire network.

(2) disconnect all other devices BEFSR41.

(3) connect your computer to one of the four ports LAN on the BEFSR41.

(4) turn on the BEFSR41 and your computer.

(5) point your browser to 192.168.1.1 and connect to your BEFSR41.

(6) change the "Internet Connection Type" to «DHCP - auto»

(7) change "local IP address" 192.168.2.1

8) click the 'Save Settings' button, and then wait the screen refresh (3-60 seconds).  You will be disconnected from the BEFSR41.  Don't worry about this.

(9) turn off the BEFSR41 and your computer.

(10) wire the ethernet port of your modem to the Internet (WAN) on the BEFSR41 port.  Leave your computer connected to the BEFSR41.

(11) power of your network.  It should work.

BEFSR41 using you now on its LAN ports 192.168.2.x subnet.  You can now connect to the BEFSR41 facility to 192.168.2.1

I want to thank my wifi in another part of the House with an Airport Extreme. But I want to not be connected to the modem main via ethernet cable is it possible?

I put in place already to extend the wifi of my modem still connected to the modem via ethernet cable.

Now I want to be considered on the floor and use it to extend the wifi without ethernet cable

The AirPort Extreme can extend only wireless signal from another router from Apple, so if you want to take the AirPort Extreme on the floor and extend wireless signal, you will need another airport connected to your modem by Ethernet cable router to produce the wireless signal that will extend the extreme on the floor.

Another way of saying the same thing would be to say that if you want to extend wireless using a router from Apple, you'll need two of them do... because AirPort Extreme is not compatible with a third-party modem or modem/router for this purpose.

  • Problem with TC loss of connection to the modem cable

I have a TC of 2 TB which is connected to my ISP provided by cable modem. It worked fine for 3 months after the installation in December, but now all of a sudden it will lose its connection to the modem and we lose our wireless internet. We have replaced the modem cable and it does not solve the problem. I have to reset the TC 2 - 3 times a day. Nothing else has changed recently with regard to the network set up. that only changes were to specific devices that use the wifi connection, and this was always something changing, depending on the devices we use. Any thoughts? I'm not a savvy person tech, BTW.

We need to ask a few questions in order to learn more on what the possible cause of the problem might be.  Please be patient with this. Thank you.

What is the number and the model of the modem you are using right now?  We ask because some modems work better than others with Apple routers, and even if you have changed the modem, it could still be a model who does not get along well with the Apple router... or... you could say that the router from Apple does not get along well with the modem.

How old is the TC? We ask because the life expectancy, on average, a time capsule is about 3 years.  After that, they tend to start losing connections to an ever-increasing rate.

Who is your provider of Internet (ISP) Service?  We ask because most suppliers are in the active process of implementation of a new type of connection called IPv6 in their systems... and despite ISPS claiming that their system changes should cause no difficulties connection or interruptions system... which doesn't seem to be the case at all.

We have seen an unusual number of reports from users who suddenly have problems with their ISP connection, when things were very well for many months before. That points directly to the IPv6 changes that ISPS are doing as the culprit. In some cases, there could be way to work around the problem, and in some cases, there is nothing to do but wait as the ISP to complete their changes and be everything to speed.

  • PRI all-in-one HP Deskjet 2542: not the printer connected to the Modem

My modem (wired LAN) password and the name was changed recently and now my printer (HP Deskjet 2542 all-in-one) does not connect to the modem.  The blue light just continuously flashes.  This is the only change that has been done to my modem and this is the first time I tried to print. It is printed on the front.  I called the cable company and they determined my modem was working fine and has suggested that to change my printer settings.  I grew up the printer instructions on my computer, but could not find something that I could change my settings to match the modem.  I think that's what the cable company told me to do.

My printer is mod. # SNPRB - 1204 - 02.  If you need made more information let me know.  It seems that this should be a quick fix, but I'm not a computer geek.

    Hi @first100years,

I'd love to help you connect your printer to your wireless network. The flashing blue light confirms without a doubt that, for some reason, the printer is is more set up.

I found the following steps in this document: connect the printer after change of your wireless network.

The HP software automatically collects the network settings by temporarily connect a USB cable from the printer to a computer that is connected to the new network. Follow these steps to reconnect the printer to the network.
  • Boxes wireless printer work without connection to the modem HP 6700 printer

My printer is located on the second floor of our House. It is connected to our network with the modem and the router to the first floor where my wife's computer. This connection works fine.

My problem is that my printer only works if connected to my computer with a USB cable. This limits the use of a number of functions of the printer. Print the test pages that I myself say the printer is connected to the home network, but the printer will not work without the USB cable that turns off the Wireless function.

Most of the instructions I've read show that I need to be connected to the modem downstairs to work. It is not possible that I can tell.

Is there a way to fix this? or is a wireless connection to my printer not possible with this configuration?

    Thanks for your help

    Bill,

    Welcome to the HP Forum.

You don't mention what kind of computer of mystery that you have and try to use the printer.

Assuming that the full feature software is available for the operating system of your computer, this may solve the problem - multiple computers can print once installed wireless printing software.  I hope that your computer is among the supported systems.

General instructions to install the printer software

    Reminder:

    1. In most cases, the Solution Center has been replaced by the wizard of the printer.
    2. Shortcuts to the Printer Wizard must be installed on your desktop during the last part of the installation.

    Windows operating system:

    • Open drivers HP & downloads
    • Enter your printer model information
    • Select your printer in the list of the 'results '.

    OR

    • Enter your operating system the menu drop-down
    • Click NEXT and scroll down
    • Find the driver - product Installation software category
    • Select the driver of base, e-print, or full software functionality
    • Save the package *.exe Setup on your computer

The files will probably save in the "folder"downloads. "

Don't forget to search for updates as necessary for your installation. If available, you can download print and scan doctor and / or other programs of category - utilities.

    • If you have control of "Admin", you can highlight the package and "double-click" to install it, otherwise just right-click, select run as administrator and install.

    NOTES:

    • Look at the bottom half of the main Web page for your printer for helpful videos help with the installation of the printer software!
    • Scroll through the list of videos back until you find the video that best fits your situation.
    • If you use a USB connection: download and install the driver software before connecting a USB cable.
    • Ethernet: connect the printer to the network and (optional) assign the printer IP address to the router. Once the printer is connected to the network, make sure that the printer is on, and then install the printer software.
    • Once the initial installation is complete and functional, check / install category - updated

There is valuable information about the Web site, including your Manual, sections for Troubleshooting > How-to's, Troubleshooting > solving a problemand alerts and notifications for your printer.  Be sure to take a comprehensive look at what's available.  To bookmark the page.

  • Unable to connect with the modem router e2500

I have an old Speedstream 5100 modem hooked to my router e2500. Everything works well except if for any reason any my modem disconnects from the ISP I can not log in via the route to reconnect it. I need to connect a cable modem to computer direct run connect script then modem plug in router all is well again.

Any ideas why the connection to the modem router is blocked?

    Thnaks,

My Speedstream has only an Ethernet connection so I did not know that he resembled a router for the local network. I changed the mode of bridge on the PPoE configuration on e2500 / Speedstream and reconnected to the ISP on the e2500 configuration screen. Who can solve the problem of reconnecting from now, it is run on the e2500.

One thing I see now is since I left the modem IP set to 192.168.0.X can't do it all through the e2500. Is it because my DHCP in e2500 is configured with 192.168.1.X range IP modem is not covered in my network? If I directly connect Speedstream and place you IP 192.168.1.X will become visible on LAN?

You are unable to access the modem even if you have a PPPoE connection. For PPPoE the E2500 will not need an IP address from the modem so it does not have DHCP on WAN port and so we never see. When you try to access the address of 192.168.0. * the E2500 it will route through the tunnel PPP to the ISP.

If you connect your computer directly to the SpeedStream it should automatically get a DHCP address (assuming that the computer is still ongoing on the DHCP protocol and not with a static IP address and the SpeedStream does not automatically neutralize the DHCP server in Bridge mode). If you have configured a static IP address on the computer, you must change the IP address to an address of 192.168.0. *.

  • Router is not connecting to the modem so I can't get internet

All right-_ - I tried a lot of things with this so I get irritated sorry. Here is my info I have a Linksys Wireless Router with SpeedBoost Firmware Version 7.2 WRT54GS (latest version). I'm trying to use it with a Sprint 645 series Modem. My IP address when you are connected to the router and the router connected to the Modem is 192.168.1.100 who my ISP said was ok to make it work. While it is just connected to my modem, it's the same thing except replace the 100 by 1. My ISP uses a measure of security where The Thing DHCP is 192.168.1.1 and so is the DNS server and default gateway and im not sure if this has something to do with it. I used the ping at a command prompt to make sure that I am connected to the router when its plugged up and it is. This is a new router. I have internet with Modem just perfectly. I tried to reset the router and that does not work-_-. I don't think it is important more because I tried to fix the many way people have told me and it didn't work, but I'll tell u in any case. When I put up the first router time I hung and lit everything at the beginning. Then I noticed that it says Run CD before to connect the cables... those who were not in the instructions but wtv... anyway resetting should have fixed or so I was told by other people on this forum. I use a laptop with Windows Vista, and I don't have access to a desktop computer in case I need a XD. I can connect to the router fine because I can access the Setup page... and I can connect wireless... The ONLY problem seems to be that the router will not connect to the Modem... for some reason of wtv-_ - I think that its because the entire security measure on the way to the DHCP and the DSN and the bridge are all 192.168.1.1, but that's just me. I'm sorry this is very long but I really want this problem-_ - I had this router for a month and becomes really annoying so please help . My ISP is Embarq. I ran the installation CD and I had all through the last step (standby router) after having connected the power supply to the wall for the router. Just, it is there forever and then says "error: 322 cannot find router or something like that." There are 3 steps to try to fix it. It says to make sure that the router is connected (it is), it is said also to make sure that u does not actually connect your old router, (I don't have a-_-) and then re-run Setup. and by the installer, I mean where u plug in all the cables in the right way. * sigh *.

If you need anything else please ask.

Your second post says "" ignore this "so I guess everyone thought that you set..."

When you connect through your router that you have two instances of DHCP past... one is your DSL modem with router IP address on its WAN interface. The other is the router that gives your computer an IP address via the DHCP server on the router. The IP address of the modem gives your router is in the 192.168.1.0 network. Unfortunately, by default, the reange of Linksys routers LAN IP address is also in this range. For that to work, you must set your router 192.168.2.1 LAN ip, so that the LAN and WAN router interfaces are in different networks.

To do this, unplug the DSL modem router, power it and your computer, and then connect the computer to the router by an ethernet cable. Turn on the router and the computer, and then go to 192.168.1.1. Change the LAN IP on router 192.168.2.1, save the configuration, and then restart the computer. Once the computer returns to the top, navigate to 192.168.2.1... you should be able to get to the router GUI configuration.

Turn off the router and the DSL modem, connect the router to the modem via the Internet port using an ethernet cable, and then turn on the modem, then the router... you should be good to go...

  • Loss of internet connectivity after the modem / router reset

I have a BEFSX41V2 and a Motorola SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 modem.  My provider is comcast.  After all devices reset, unplug the power and remove the cable / ethernet cable, I lose all access to the outside.

The strange thing is that if I connect any desktop or laptop computer at home directly to the modem, I have access.  In this case, the link for the transmission light / receipt of data on the modem is on.

I had to send signals of reset comcast several times but it does not solve the problem when the modem and the router BEFSX41V2 are connected.  In this case, the link for the transmission light / receipt of data on the modem is turned off.

Are there additional steps I must take on the router to reactivate the connectivity.

    Thank you.

  • BEFSR41 ver 2 (three on the beautiful work of Ports)

    A worm BEFSR41 2.

Background: had the router for years.  Served 3 pcs (2 OS from windows and 1 mac OS), and a PS2, faithfully for 5-7 years.  A true friend of the family. No problems until recently. Remained current on all updates, have no problems.

Recent issue: one of the windows PC (master unit ensuring the router connect to the page) recently acquired disgust/disabilities, sending attachments in outgoing emails.  It wasn't a problem for many years.  Only recently.  This same pc had increasing problems of loading web pages.  Note the other PC, mac and ps2 had NO problems during this period.

I double checked the firmware and it crosses a dozen times or more with Windows updates monthly Malware Removal and RemoveIT PRO and AVG, Avira and SpybotS & D and BlackIce Hijack this, Vundo Rootkits, AirDusters and the works. Check that any security downloads with an MD5 checksum utility. Infrared analytical lighting memory running in a steralized room.  Got my lawyer and my tax accountant involved in case there was something had to be done to this end. A homeland security on alert 5000mAh.

Everything was up to date. Has begun to suspect that it was an old windows update, which was causing the problem. Tinkered a little.

After several months of trying to solve the problem, decided to install the window on this pc the scrap and start over.  At that animate the pc turned off and in a sterile room for cleaning, removed the BONES and the defragmentated.  Hit in the back and made the installation.  Put just the major updates on the operating system to make the XP up to SP2.  Put online and fear once again, the thing was still slow and haunted by slow down navigation while the other PC on the router where you have NO problem (but it made me wonder why the other computers and ps2 did not have a problem).

Then had the idea to change the port of the router. Swapped the port from a pc having problems and gave to this port to a pc not having NOT the question.  Was given the pc having issues, the port of a pc, that was NOT the question before.  And violo.  The pc with the problem is now resolved, while the pc having is not the question before, is now seen the question.

My question is (and I guess it is answered already but I like confirmation):

When a router goes wrong, he's going poorly a port at a time, or all at the same time?  2nd question: is it possible that a bug in the matrix has set itself at this port and set up a trap to trap all things out of this port, and will get an invitation soon to follow rabbits or tattoo-girls or rather hot babes looking with a cropped bangs and too much red lipstick?

Alternative 3 question: If a matrix like bug has himself affixed to this port and set up a trap to capture all things out of this port, can I set up a trap hand to trap the trap, or otherwise get rid of it?

Thanks in advance for any response.

    It is follow-up:

We ended up having to replace the router.  We used the other ports for three or four weeks, then a second port went bad and a third party. We have replaced sometime in December of the same year, went to version 4.3 of the same number of model above.  Works fine again.  All ports.

Anyone, know why, the prior model (ver 2) went bad as he did?  I noticed with the new unit, the MAC address is outside of the box, with the bar coding. I think that, for security reasons, this information should be on the unit itself and not on the outside of the box, at the time of departure.

  • [WAG200G] problem to connect to the modem cable Alloys Atlanta Dcp2203

    Hi all!

I recently got my new cable internet access (I used to have DSL) and I want to use my WAG200G to distribute internet by air.

When I connect my laptop to the Dcp2203 of Atlanta Alloys via ethernet, I get an external IP (200.XXX.XXX.XXX). I need to adjust my ethernet interface get ip dynamically to achieve this.

    Now I need to connect Dcp2203-(ethernet)---> WAG200G - wifi---> portable

How can I configure my WAG200G to work using this structure?

    Thanks to you all!

You can't really use your WAG here. You will need a router ethernet, not a DSL router.

The only thing you can do is use the WAG as access point and connect the laptop directly to the internet. This works as long as you don't want to connect a device to the internet at any time. You will not be able to connect 2 or more at the same time, because your ISP only allows you to have an active connection at any time.

To set this up, you will need to connect a computer to the WAG. Open the web interface of the WAG to http://192.168.1.1/ to first set up your wireless network (SSID, enable WPA2 Personal Security with AES encryption and a password strong change). Disable the DHCP server on the main settings page.

Then one of the ethernet wire ports of the WAG in your modem cable. Now you can connect wireless to the WAG and the WAG access to the internet and the modem. New: your computer will have direct access to the internet and will have a public IP address. You can't have two active connections at the same time.

If you need to make changes on the WAG, you set a static IP address on your computer, for example 192.168.1.2 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Then you can access the web at http://192.168.1.1/ interface when you have completed your changes, go back to the DHCP/Auto IP on your computer.

Otherwise, you should get a router, for example Wireless Linksys WRT routers.

HI I have an Ethernet cable modem BEFMCU10 model v3 connected to a Netgear n100 v2 wireless router. The modem works only when it is connected with the wireless router. When I try to connect Ethernet. Modem to PC, it does not connect, there is no internet access. My ISP is Comcast (Xfinity). It's really weird because how is it possible that theres internet via wireless, but when I connect my modem via Ethernet, I have no internet access

I remember the first time I activated my modem there is xfinity software that did something to my modem but I don't think it has to do with anything he just install something in my laptop. I did a clean install of the software or anything has been removed.

You can check this with your cable provider, but probably not.  Unless you have a very high speed (usually of company type) cable plan there would be no advantage.   You also must be sure that any modem you purchase is compatible.
