Belkin easy transfer cable was not detected

Hello

This is a follow-on to the following thread that no one has answered: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBwQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fanswers.microsoft.com%2Fen-us%2Fwindows%2Fforum%2Fwindows_xp-windows_install%2Feasy-transfer-cable-detection-problem%2F15531c4f-a8bd-469d-8856-e7b231a8b6f4&ei=oB54TdyyLOKZ0QGxnYTuBg&usg=AFQjCNHxadqvOGSsNX8yfISqm7ApnGwcJw&sig2=eEm_LvFe34X66AkzRPfxBg

I hung on to step 8.  I couldn't find the folder "Windows Easy Transfer 7".  I however find a folder "Windows Easy Transfer", but could not find the folder "cable."  He had two subfolders (amd64 and x 86) which each included dozens of other records.  Can you direct me to the correct folder or even better yet is their a link online to download?

Help please!

Hello

If you have 64-bit Windows XP installed, you can go to the folder amd 64 and thencheck for the folder. Widnows XP go to 32-bit X 86 folder.

I hope this helps.

  • Where is the driver for Easy Transfer cable end XP?

I bought a new cable Easy Transfer to transfer XP sp3 (Dell Dimension 2300) for Win 7 laptop. When I plug in the cable on your old computer, the Device Manager regnized cable, but shows no driver installed. The CD that came with the cable has no driver. So where can I download this call so 'pilot for older computers XP' in order to talk to win 7 laptop? The driver is assumed installation in XP, no machine computers Win - 7, but must "talk" to Win - 7 later.

    Hello Linnex,

Thank you for your message.  Have you installed the software on your XP computer before you plug the cable?  Have you tried all of these steps?  If so, could you please let us know the results of each step?
If the easy transfer cable is not working properly, you can try a few things to fix the problem. Make sure that you have installed the drivers of the cable easy transfer on your old computer with CD included in the package of cable. If you do not, close Windows Easy Transfer, insert the CD that came with the easy transfer cable into your old computer and follow the instructions on the screen. When it is complete, repeat the transfer process.
USB ports can be another cause of the problem. When Windows Easy Transfer prompts you to connect your computers with the easy transfer cable, try to plug the cable into the other USB ports on your computer.
    See you soon

  • Easy transfer cable detection problem

While trying to transfer files etc. from old computer using Windows XP Professional version 2002 service pack 3 for new computer using Windows 7, I get a message on the old computer indicating "Cable Easy Transfer undetected." The cable is fine because it works with another computer.

FOR ANYONE WHO IS STILL HAVING THIS PROBLEM I THOUGHT IT!

Shouldn't the Systemengineer Microsoft had to know this?

    Here's what worked for me.

    1. on your XP machine, check if you have Windows XP 32 bit (x 86) that you use/download version 32-bit (x 86) Windows Easy Transfer.

    2 install.

    3. you must now do a right-click 'my computer' and select 'Properties'. Go to the "hardware" tab and click on "Device Manager".

    3. now that you're 'Device Manager' connect your easy transfer cable.

    4. it should refresh and you should now see 'cable devices transfer' (mine had a question mark logo, which indicates that the driver was not installed...) Click the small 'sign' next to him and less must be something called 'Simple cable USB transfer' (this is what it says for my Dynex brand cable anyway...)

    5. right click and select "Properties". Go to the tab "driver", then click on "Update Driver".

    6. the "Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard" should appear. Select "install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click "Next".

    7. Select "Search for the best driver in these locations" and also select "include this location in the search:

    8. now click on 'Browse' and navigate to the folder where Windows Easy Transfer installed in (something like7\cable C:\Program Files\Windows Easy Transfer according to your drive letter) "cable" is important. This is the driver. Now click 'ok'.

    9. click on ""Next ' and it should be a small thing of research. " Then when it's done it will probably say that your driver has been installed. It must not be an exclamation mark next to the name in "Device Manager" more.

    10. now run Windows Easy Transfer and it should recognize the cable. It actually automatically recognize the cable now when you plug it in.

For some reason when you install Windows Easy Transfer it does not install the cable driver and you must do it manually.

Now, I had another problem with mine. He repeated (on my Win7 machine) that it would take something ridiculous like 4 hours... then on my XP machine, a box would come and say "Trying to reconnect" and everything to stall. Disable your screen saver, screen off and standby (in power settings) on both computers. If that not help I also found that you do the transfer in the sections, do not try to transfer ALL in one session. As I made my photos, and when this was done I did my music, etc...

I really hope this helps someone. I hope I've heard a few comments!

  • I'm trying to transfer data from hard disk of Vista again Windows 7 with the StarTech easy transfer cable. Is not interesting! Help please?

My Dell laptop is quite old and SLOW but effective. I bought a new Toshiba Windows 7 laptop, and they had ideally made available a kit to transfer all the data from the old computer again. For windows USB transfer cable. Well, I loaded the CD and he always tells me that the compputers cannot read each other, to load the CD on my old computer. I'm on the flat. Called their tech support was a joke. Thought it would be so simple and now I want my $30 money back and may need to use the thumb or the CD burning command to transfer files.

Anyone out there use this easy transfer cable and be successful?

Many thanks to whom can help forever (or the cable my be used for some are completely other purpose if are getting my drift).  Thank you all!

    Hello

Perhaps you use a defective cable, and also a standard USB cable cannot be used to transfer files and settings between computers.

I suggest you to make Windows easy transfer on a network.

    Best regards

    Mike Lynch

    Hi Mike,.

The cable is specific to the connection of two computers, in order to avoid a short circuit, because the two USB ports on computers are powered:

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Easy_Transfer_Cable

    Similar to a crossover cable:

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossover_cable

They are not operating system specific, more specific material.

I think you'll be OK with one, but ask the manufacturer to be sure.

  • USB easy transfer cable question

bought this after the visit of this forum, but I'm still lost, not really computer savy with regard to this kind of procedure. I have an old computer that I want to transfer photos/media on my new computer, the Member of the forum said it would be the easiest way, so I bought it. But still I don't know how to do this. Make:

    (a) follow my old computer, plug in the cpu of the computer, plug the usb cable and do it this way? or I don't

    (b) plug the new computer, disassemble the old computer, but plug the CPU? I'm really not understanding how it will work, because I need to be able to view what I do from your old computer (to the extent where to locate the files to be transferred).

any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thnx.

    Hello again,

You may want to leave the old computer intact with keyboard/mouse and connected to a monitor. You want to set up your new computer with mouse/keyboard and the monitor. Now, follow these instructions to eHow on How to use an easy transfer cable. You will need to install the software provided with the cable to both computers and when you are prompted, you connect the USB cable to both computers.

    I hope this helps.

You're right, because an ethernet cable does not work when you connect a computer directly with a computer.

However, a 'cross' ethernet cable will be:

Agrivated after myself, I found the problem.  And it's simple!  I hope it works for everyone, always in need of response.  So I upgraded to Win Xp 32 bit to 7 64 bit.  I had a 39 + GB Easy Transfer file.  I was getting the same error, «...» "Cannot open a file... "Well, to solve this problem, I opened the Transfer Wizard, thenm go through your files, using the options"Advanced"and my limited to a size of transfer to 2 GB or less.  It could be a tedious job, but it should work for you, as it did for me.  You can experiment a bit more with the measures, but I've just stuck with 2 GB and was fine.  Good luck to you all
