Binds two ISP ASA to remote VPN Client to connect to instead of creating two profiles on the remote client

Hello

just a quick,

TOPOLOGY

ASA isps1 - 197.1.1.1 - outside

ASA ISP2 - 196.1.1.1 - backup

LAN IP - 192.168.202.100 - inside

I have configured Tunnel on the interfaces (external and backup), but is to link both legs public to serve a thare as redundancy for vpn users and users of the vpn tunnel leave pointing inside IP whenever they want to establish vpn sssion, we want it to be one, so if an interface fails vpn users will not know , but he will try the second for the connection. instead of creating the profile for the two outside of the leg on the vpn client.

is this possible?

Hi Rammany.

In your case, you have only an ASA that connects with 2 ISP in another segment IP... 196.x.x.x (Link1) & 197.x.x.x (Link2). What your condition is you want to have the VPN client who must be consulted with backup. If 196.x.x.x link fails, it should automatically take 197.x.x.x link. That too we should not have the config set in the VPN client backup server. You don have the possibility of having standby active also in asa single.

I think n so it will work with your current design.

This option is if your VPN client supports host name resolution (DNS). You can have the VPN created for both the public IP address share the same host name keeping the bond as the primary address 1 and 2 a secondary address. It will work alone.

Hope someother experts in our forum can help you with that.

  • IP address of the VPN client must demonstrate external IP of ASA 5505

    Hi guys,.

We have a small project with the Government which has some difficult requiment with security.

    Current situation;

1 site the Government has allowed a public IP address of our company to access their server in-house.

    2. in our office, staff can connect to their server using RDP by Cisco ASA 5505 I configured with two or three clicks.

    3. this ASA was outside (public) Government of authorized IP address.

    Request amended;

    1. given the increase in the tasks, our staff must have access to the Government of the home server.

    2. Government will not grant vpn access to them directly.

    3. they ask us to provide our staff VPN then RDP access to the Government site.

I have install VPN and it connects very well with no problems just for the connection itself.

But if I check using www.whatismyIPaddress.com, he demonstrated local IP address that they got by their ISP not CISCO ASA 5505 outside the interface.

The problem is unlike Microsoft ISA 2006 VPN which shows the external public IP address when a client connects to the VPN server, Cisco vpn client shows that it is the local IP address that is not in its list in the Government site.

I'm more like Ms. guy then Cisco as I did ' t have a lot of chances to play with Cisco, sorry about that.

Is that what I missed in the middle of config or needs a setting more to achieve this?

How can I make client VPN to show it's IP address to the interface of Cisco ASA rather than the IP address of the local ISP?

    Thanks in advance,

    Charlie

  • VPN client - multiple connection possibilities?

    Hi people,

My basic question is, Cisco VPN Client allows two simultaneous VPN connections at the same time?

I would like to implement the following:

Customer user (remote access VPN via Internet)--> Head Office c/o ASA 5520 pair--> (VPN remote access via Internet)--> pair of Branch Office ASA 5510 S + a/s

For example, to access the Branch Office system, the user must:

    1. connect to the peer of Head Office ASA via Cisco VPN Client (the user/password authentication)

Head Office ASA peer gives an 172.16.1.x private IP address and is configured to route all requests for public office ASA IP through its own public IP address.

    2. once Head Office VPN is established, the user establishes a SECOND VPN tunnel of the Cisco VPN client (user/password and focused on the cert auth)

I.e. branch sees the VPN connection try from the public IP address of Headquarters and therefore allows the VPN through the ACL traffic and allows the continuation of the VPN negotiations as usual.  Customer is given another IP address private, 192.168.10.x.

Basically, I need to limit the remote access VPN branch to make it only accessible from Headquarters public IP address, no public IP address of the user (and therefore the entire internet).

I know this is an unusual configuration, and some will say on the sensitivity of security to allow two simultaneous VPN connections.  These are the two networks of trust, strict ACL would be at stake and there is a long history behind this requirement...

    Thanks in advance!

    Alistair,

You can limit the access of VPN connections to branch by blocking connections on UDP ports 500, 4500 UDP and ESP and allowing him only from your home office. In this way, only the explicitly authorized public IP address of your home office would be able to connect to your remote sites by using an IPSec tunnel.

Now, on the second tunnel I don't think it's possible. As far I am aware you cannot have two connections to VPN at the same time of the same customer. The VPN will not let you do, it's mainly because when you have a VPN Client the VPN map session comes up and you can only one card virtual VPN.

Because I don't think it is possible I would advice to try something like this:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/HW/vpndevc/ps2030/products_configuration_example09186a008046f307.shtml

Could provide you the connectivity that you are looking for without needing a second tunnel VPN from the client side.

    I hope this helps.

  • Function of automatic update for the IPsec VPN Client

    Hello.

Do you have anyone ever tried the PIX / ASA ' feature IPsec VPN Client Auto-Update?

    (see also Document ID: 105606).

He wants to make sure that I understand this right.

The user will receive a popup of information telling him to download the latest version of the client? And then there start the update itself?

If so, this would mean that the user must have the rights of full adminsitative using a laptop.

From my point of view, full administrator rights on a laptop are prohibited - 100% and therefore the functionality would be totally useless.

Anyone who can tell me whether I am good or bad?

    Best

    Frank

    Frank,

You are right, if the computer desktop or labtop is completely locked regarding the installation of the software the customer won't be able to install it, they may be able to download from the link that you configured in ASA, once they connect to your server ASA RA but with regard to the installation user's machine needs rights profile appropriate to be able to install it.

  • Unable to connect to other remote access (ASA) VPN clients

    Hello

I have a cisco ASA 5510 appliance configured with remote VPN access

I can connect all hosts on the INSIDE and DMZ network, but not able to access other clients connected to the same VPN.

For example, if I have 2 clients connected to the VPN, customer and CustomerB, with a pool of vpn IP addresses such as 10.40.170.160 and 10.40.170.161 respectively, these two clients are not able to communicate with each other.

    Any help is welcome.

    Hello

I'm a little rusty on the old format NAT, but would be what I would personally try to configure NAT0 on the 'outer' interface.

It seems to me that you currently have dynamic PAT configured for the VPN users you have this

    NAT (outside) 1 10.40.170.0 255.255.255.0

If your traffic is probably corresponding to it.

The only thing I can think of at the moment would be to configure

Note of VPN-CLIENT-NAT0-access-list NAT0 for traffic between VPN Clients

    list of access VPN-CLIENT-NAT0 permit ip 10.40.170.0 255.255.255.0 10.40.170.0 255.255.255.0

NAT (outside) 0-list of access VPN-CLIENT-NAT0

I don't know if it works. I did not really have to configure it on any ASAs running older software. There was some similar questions here on the forums for the new format.

  • Remote VPN client and Telnet to ASA

    Hi guys

I have an ASA connected to the Cisco 2821 router firewall.

I have the router ADSL and lease line connected.

All my traffic for web ports etc. of ADSL ftp and smtp pop3, telnet etc is going to rental online.

    My questions as follows:

I am unable to telnet to ASA outside Interface although its configuered.

Unable to connect my remote VPN Client, there is no package debug crypto isakmp, I know that I have a nat that is my before router device my asa, I owe not nat port 4500 and esp more there, but how his confusion.

    I'm ataching configuration.

    Concerning

It looks like a config issue. Possibly need debug output "debug crypto isa 127".

You may need remove the command «LOCAL authority-server-group»

NAT-traversal is enabled by default on the ASA 8.x version. So you don't have to worry about NAT device in the middle.

  • Remote IPSec VPN - client Windows 7 and ASA 5505

    Hello

I'm having trouble with configuring IPSec VPN with Cisco ASA 5505 and Windows 7 client native VPN remotely. My client PC Gets the VPN IP pool address and can access a remote network behind ASA, but then I lose my internet connection. I read that this should be a problem with the split tunneling, but I did as it says here and no luck.

Windows VPN Client settings, if I uncheck "use default gateway on remote network" I have an internet connection (given that the customer is using a local gateway), but then I can't ping remote network.

In the log, I see the warnings of this type:

TCP connection of disassembly 256 for outside:192.168.150.1/49562 to outside:213.199.181.90/80 duration 0: 00:00 0 stream bytes is a loopback (cisco)

I have attached my configuration file (without configuring split tunneling, I tried). If you need additional newspapers, I'll send them right away.

    Thank you for your help.

    Petar Koraca

That's what you would have needed on versions 8.3 and earlier versions:

    permit same-security-traffic intra-interface

    Global 1 interface (outside)

    NAT (outside) 1 192.168.150.0 255.255.255.0

However I see that you are running 8.4 so I think that all you need is this (I never did on 8.4 so it may not be accurate)

    permit same-security-traffic intra-interface

    network of the NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.150.0_24 object

    dynamic NAT interface (outdoors, outdoor)

Give it a shot and let me know how it goes.

  • ASA 5520: Remote VPN Clients cannot ping LAN, Internet

I've set up a few of them in my time, but I am confused with this one.  Can I establish connect via VPN tunnel but I can't ping or go on the internet.  I searched the forum for similar and found a little issues, but none of the fixes seem to match.  I noticed a strange thing is when I run ipconfig/all of the vpn client, the IP address that has been leased over the Pool of the VPN is also the default gateway!

I have attached the config.  Help, please.

    Thank you!

Exemption of NAT ACL has not yet been applied.

NAT (inside) 0-list of access Inside_nat0_outbound

In addition, you have not split tunnel, not sure you were using internet ASA for the vpn client internet browsing.

You can also enable icmp inspection if you test in scathing:

    Policy-map global_policy
    class inspection_default

    inspect the icmp

    Hope that helps.

  • Two VPN clients remote need to Exchange resources through PIX501

I would like to have remote VPN clients ping each other and exchange their resiurces directly through pix501.

Is this possible? If so, how can I make it work?

With the current code of 6.x, u / shooting VPN traffic between sites or remote access clients is not possible, when this traffic ends on the same interface.

Pix 7.0 code is provided as a feature, which is scheduled for release in Q3.

    Thank you

  • What VPN Client for ASA 5550 AnyConnect Premium connection?

We have version9 a couple of ASA550 I want to put in place a VPN client for use with remote access to administration.  We have included AnyConnect VPN, Premium license peers 2 so I guess we can just use of Cisco AnyConnect VPN client.  I went to Cisco's Web site and it says that I don't have right to the last Anyconnect VPN Client 4.x but I don't have access to the version 3.x.

The 3.x client is compatible with the ASA and also Windows 10?

If Yes, what is the correct file to use, there are many files listed for download in AnyConnect 3.x?

In addition, what is the difference between the AnyConnect 3.x and 4.x customer and why Cisco restricting 4.x?

    Jim

AnyConnect 4.x has changed the licensing model. AnyConnect 4.x licenses are term based licensing vs perpetual 3.x. There are a number of other differences, mainly due to there being only two license types - more and Apex - no Mobile plus, Advanced Endpoint Assessment, shared VPN etc. Cisco offers a nominal or no license cost of migration until the end of 2015. (depending on what you have: positive Essentials or Apex at premium)

AnyConnect 3.1 will work with Windows 10 and the latest version of the Software ASA (since Version 3.1.10010). Reference:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/security/vpn_client/AnyConnect/ANYC...

There are two ways it is distributed - as a stand-alone installation or package for the distribution of the ASA station. Both come in Windows, Mac OS X and Linux distributions. For a Windows client, you must use either:

    AnyConnect-Win-3.1.12020-pre-deploy-K9.ISO

    AnyConnect-victory - 3.1.12020 - k9.pkg

.. .to the current version of these respective form factors.
