  If you have not had luck in iTunes (https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes/itunes_for_windows?view=discussions#/?tagSet=1234) forum, uninstall and reinstall iTunes as described below:

  To perform a "clean" iTunes installation uses this technique proposed, from Support of Apple HT1926 article.  (If you are using Vista, see THIS instead).

  Go to control panel > Add/Remove programs
  Remove these applications in the following order (do not restart your computer if you are prompted during this process):

  1 iTunes
  2. Apple Software Update
  3. Apple Mobile Device Support
  4 Hello
  5 Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

  6. iPod for Windows (this may or may not exist, be it, it is not necessary, then we can remove it)

  7. iPod Updater

  8 QuickTime

  Open my computer > C: > Program Files
  Delete these files (if present)
  1 iPod
  2 iTunes
  3 QuickTime

  Follow these steps if the message "cannot delete iPodService.exe: it is used by another person or program" appears when you try to delete the folder of the iPod.

  OK he sews none of my workstations running XP has a dllcache folder. So I did a search using my other desktop computer (running now), to see if there is another copy of scesrv.dll anywhere. I found a copy in the following folder:

  then I copied the dll on to c:\windows\system32 on the computer was not working
