You can run (yet) background apps, although there was much demand for such a feature and most valid use cases provided. I can't imagine that this is not in the pipeline.
You can not (yet) start other applications or communicate with them, but who was announced for BB10 and is called "invocation framework". At best, the details are still sketchy.

I have a request that I wrote and have been use and distribute for awhile. The installer I created for this application is an additional installer to install a driver for the USB connection. The USB connection is actually a virtual COM Port. The problem is that the people who drafted modified driver setup the installation program itself. They used to have an installer that would check for 32-bit or 64-bit OS and then install the appropriate driver.
Now, they have two distinct installation programs: one for the other for 32-bit and 64-bit. They let the user know their OS and install the appropriate driver. I'd rather not have to rely on my users to do. From what I've seen the creater Installer provides that an executable to be run after the application installs.
Is it possible to have the installer of the application, check the type of OS and then run the correct executable file after installing my application? I think that I could write an Installer 'wrapper' that checks the type of operating system then executes the correct Installer. But I expect a better solution.

The trick is to find a way to determine what type of OS you are using. The method I used was, indeed, read the environment variable. A buddy of mine sent me this link:

I tried to back up my files using an external hard drive (which I have done before with Windows 7 64-bit), but recently I get the same error code. I have re-formatted external hard drive, run diagnostics on it, restarted the computer, etc and nothing seems to work. I also tried both options posted in another forum with the same error and too, they were not successful (external is already NTFS and now that it has been re-formatted is completely empty). Windows has more suggests? I hope not to have to use drag and drop my files whenever I want to save my computer.

Read this article because I believe that the amount of free space in the 100 MB partition is too small. Article is a different error code, but the technique to increase the size of the 100 MB partition is the same.

I use an architecture of producer/consumer for an application with a structure of the event in the upper loop. You can view the code? Is what event still enter? I did have problems step by step in code that uses a structure of the event. You must be patient, but because the application is slowed down a bit and it can take a while to get into the case of the specific event depending on what events you deal. Usually, I place a breakpoint in the case I am interested and run the application as usual. Once I hit the breakpoint is when I turn on highlighting of execution.

I'm retouching of images taken on my iPhone 6 more with Photoshop CS6. I'm doing my color correction and add effects and all that. Before you export the image I review and be sure to what I has no more sharpness and the lines are smooth and it looks good overall. I export it to JPEG, max quality with the establishment of reference standards. I then open the image and it seems fine, as it did in photoshop. My problems begin to occur when I try to download on Twitter as my profile picture. I tried downloading from my office directly on the site via google chrome. When I download the image then begins to have jagged edges and overlooks the tablets. So I thought it was some performance settings, then I tweaked them and restarted a couple of times and still the same result. He would go on my desk but when uploaded to twitter as my profile picture is horrible. So I tried emailing the image of myself and the download through my phone. I opened the image on my iphone and it seemed fine as he did on my desktop but when I downloaded the image it makes then look blurry. I had this problem when downloading photos Twitter via my iphone, so it doesn't surprise me.
