BlackBerry Passport autonomy and stability. Your experience

Good day to you all,.

My BB passport had a terrible battery life. My experience was similar to that of this post on the forum:

https://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/T5/BlackBerry-Passport/short-battery-life-update/TD-p/2997430/h...

Therefore, I returned my passport and got a refund that I used to buy an iPhone 6.

However, I could not just believe that the battery life should be so bad so now, I searched the forum and found the post above (I also did it before I returned my passport, but could not find anything at the time). The above post made me think of buying a BB Passport again.

Not to mention that the battery life terrible on my device, I also found that the BONE was terribly unstabie. I had to reboot the device several times a day. I reinstalled the operating system that has helped, but it was still not anywhere near as stable as my old iPhone.

Now, after I've had my iPhone 6 for awhile, I have to say that I miss the passport of BlackBerry. I'm bored of the factor of the screen, physical keyboard touch, hub BB etc so I would consider buying a new one, but before I do, let me know your expericences with the battery life and the stability of the operating system.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Kind regards

Peter

mine has been very stable and I use it a lot at work. I get to about 50-60 battery left after 12 hours, but I use it a lot.

I was able to get more than 2 days on a single charge but did not use not heavy.

I like it 30%, I can go to bed, wakes up and using it again for 2 hours before switching on the way to work.

  • BlackBerry passport more uses for the touch keyboard

    I'm absolutely in love with my passport, but I had a few ideas on how to make touchpad a little more helpful and make things a bit faster and more convenient;

    1. navigate through the pages of the home screen with the touch pad.

Drag to the left and through the pages of home app with the keyboard would be great.

Potentially can even add one later option to highlight icons and enter them similar to the classic. But I prefer is an optional thing.

    2. slide in an application.

While scrolling an app, it would be great for me to be able to slide right on they keyboard to return "" on the previous page.

Of course, it would be disabled by default all by making a text entry.

This movement can be extended to the rear movement used on android applications, it would be much easier to try on the screen.

There are two ideas: swipe to navigate through the home screens, potentially emulating the classic trackpad (optional)

And allowing movement to the right as the equivalent to return back a page and extending applications android, author of the motion back on the keyboard instead of or in addition to the motion of the screen.

I would like to know if these interest you, or perhaps feel that they are useless, or add anything you feel would be good to see.

Excellent feedback, thank you for sharing @the_look!

  • BlackBerry Passport stuck in mode alarm and cannot be disabled. but it's only the début gets much worse

I contacted support blackberry before about the problems with the alarm, especially that, unlike previous devices that the passport must be left switched on so that the alarm to work. which means that any owner Passport learned the hard way, if you set the alarm and power off, the alarm will be off not because the device must be on the alarm will go off.

However, bedside mode ends up being - I don't know - "corrupt"? by being left permanently. I've known many strange bugginess of the bedside mode. but nothing like that is.

-This morning came the cherry on top, the alarm could not be disabled.

normally in bedside mode when the alarm goes off, you just touch the screen and it stops the vibration and noise of the alarm and goes into the screen unlock mode so you can get your day.

but this time, he has not extinguished. It happens now for more than an hour. with a full battery (since it was loaded before calling IT a night), I estimated that the device of vibration inside will wear down or the battery will take a week or more to die.

the Passport is designed in contrast to other blackberry phones, we can't remove the battery for a hard reset. that would have solved this problem immediately (but not my concern for her)

without anything turning off the alarm, I tried a pass Hail Mary: turn the unit off.

Initially, it appeared that he was going to work; He had stopped the alarm sound and vibrant and has been turned off - but then partially through this judgment, the blackberry logo came on the screen and alarm and vibrating started.

It does not turn off, the battery cannot be removed and nothing while the aircraft was still on has been to turn off the alarm. What to do in a situation like this?

I think that after the flood of various technical flaws, I knew within eight months of owning, this severe alarm fault has probably ruined my passport, he simply refused to let me turn the alarm off and now it is blocked in alarm mode, halfway between being off. I can't tun this return, cannot turn off, it will simply and as a mobile with tourette's.

I really wish blackberry did not alarm system set up for turnthe peripheral turned off if you want the alarm must be activated, leaving constantly in bedside mode rather has an effect on it.

previous mobile blackberry I had always allow you to stop, and then in the morning it goes on automatically to the alarm-it was perfect. He laso allow you to get the mobile to have to reset every night. how much is it?

but now, given that I bought in England and returned to the Canada, I find myself now in a quandry: thousand dollar mobile is destroyed (well; it was £500 so it's a thousand Canadians), my insurance overly expensive unconditional replacement if lost, stolen or damaged is from a company in the United Kingdom, and I of course can't send it in the post for my replacement free while she is buzzing and alarming, and vibrant.

so it'll be at least a week before the battery dies offshore, so I can do it.

It's a nice mobile phone, by far my favorite blackberry ever but that alarm is of course quite wrong.

If only the battery could be deleted

I didn't have problems with the alarm as you make it.

    What should do?

    1. What is your operating system loaded on your device? From the main screen, drag to the bottom of the black bezel that is superior to the settings > everything... What is the Version of the OS that there are listed?
    2. Do NOT turn off the device to restart the device.
    3. Restart the unit in one or two of the following methods:
    • Restart: With the BlackBerry powereddevice, press and hold the power button on top about 20-30 seconds, ignore the 3-2-1 timer and hold the button until the screen goes black and you see the red LED.

    or

    • Restart: With the phone smart BlackBerry turned on, using the keys of volume of the edge side, press on and hold the keys of volume for about 20 seconds and both of the Up, ignoring the initial message of screenshot... the screen go black, reboot.

How can I get rid of the annoying popup to recording?

    Hello

The pop up is usually run as a scheduled task, so open windows control panel, open administrative tools, and open Task Scheduler.  Click once on the Task Scheduler Library to highlight and look for an entry called "Webreg".  Left-click this time to highlight it, then right click and select Disable.  Restart the Pc for the change to take effect.

  • BlackBerry Passport BB as a new phone on the rise and glued on the anti-theft function

    Hello

I've been a faithful customer BB for 10 years and recently bought a refurbed unlocked Blackberry Passport on e - bay.

I started to set up the phone, and once I got the Blackberry ID user name connection, my connection was not accepted as Blackberry Protect anti-theft is activated.

While I tried to contact the previous owner (pending response), I try to find out if there is a way around this section of the introduction.

I have 3 numbers and all phones blackberry - Q5, Q10 and now BB passport. They are so easy to use and convenient that I really want to get the implementation completed on this phone as soon as POSSIBLE, because it will be used for work purposes.

Is there a way someone could help?

    Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the community!

There is no way to move forward without these credentials. Theft protection is a very strong security feature and cannot be bypassed.

You must get these credentials, complete the initial Setup with the credentials and throw then a WIPE on the device, again enter these credentials. After the WIPE, you'll then be able to use/create a new BBID during initial installation.

If the seller will not provide you with the credentials, their next option would be for you to return the unit to them and to the steps above, except for the last part (for example, they should start CLEANING with their powers, but does not start the device upwards later), and then they send it back to you.

The last option is so... If the seller has represented the device as being fully usable by you, and if they either of the above, then they distorted the device for you and should refund you. If they do not cooperate, use the functions of "Buyer Protection" eBay.

    Good luck!

Anyone know what is happening? I also have the latest OS on my 9900.

Found a solution! Laughing out loud! How delayed. I changed my email in bb code. For example, after changing from one gmail to another account, I changed it back and baaammmm! Problem solved, but do not know why it should be a problem in the first place right?

  • Your experience and suggestions about the size of the screen

I would like to know what you found that works well for you when developing for different screen sizes, resolutions and screen for various browsers especially on PC and Macintosh (not talking mobile devices).

    Thanks for sharing your experience.

    I usually go for 1000 x 600 or 1000 x 800.

If you set the width to 100% height, it must fill all the available room in the parent html element.

  • BlackBerry Passport wifi connection problem after password change

I changed the password on a Wi - Fi device and since then could not connect my passport to this access point. Have you tried the wps process also without success.

Thought maybe I could delete the old profile registered, restart and after finding the unit once again, perhaps that would accept the new password.

I don't see how to remove the original profile.  When trying to update the password, get a message that the profile cannot be added.

  • Is BlackBerry Passport all project to upgrade Passport 10 BlackBerry to Android?

    Hello

I recently bought a Blackberry passport (normal version, not to SE) and I read that the new smartphone, the BlackBerry Priv, will animate the Android as an operating system. So, I wonder if blackberry will support the passport by upgrading the Android operating system or support the device by providing some security for Blackberry 10 updates?

I would be great if someone from BlackBerry team (employee) could answer this question.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello!

Regarding your request for comments from people of BB, please see this "sticky" post, as well as the wires to which it connects, for more useful information to guide you as you go:

I hope that this information will be useful to you.

In addition, what you ask would require knowledge and revelation of the "forward looking information", which in reality is strictly banned here, and any person who has such knowledge would reveal due to the NDA and other instruments.

So, with this "officialness" of the road, here is my speculation. N ° current devices have hardware that is coupled to the BB10 operating system. The PRIVATE, given everything we see and hear, will be completely different material, coupled with a completely different operating system. Swapping them probably would not work.

Your concern for security is actually quite interesting... as well as the opposite of others who speculate these things here. It is the idea more than the PRIVATE will be less secure than traditional BB10 and will require several modules in order to to align the equity security. Thus, BB10 updates won't be necessary... on the contrary, it will take Add-ons for the Android OS platform. Nevertheless, we have confidence that BB will continue development and support, release of the applicable updates to all the platforms they support.

See you soon and good luck!

    That's happened?

    Pleas help me

EDIT: I have a Macbook with Mac os El Capitan

Hello and welcome to the community!

Everything you did with Knowyou damaged your device OS irreparably. Reference:

LINK is the official way to reload your OS... but you did not say what exactly went wrong when you have made the attempt. Reference:

If this does not work, you may need to get the use of a Windows PC in order to use unofficial Autoloaders, that can sometimes succeed where other methods fail.

Of course, before starting all this, you want a good backup link, a manual copy of the memory of your device to your PC and complete documentation of your configuration (identification information of account, adding applications, configurations, etc.). Sometimes, restoring a backup returns unit corruption even, must be eliminated and reconfiguration from scratch can solve that. In view of the error you have, this course is questionable... your data has already disappeared from your device, and you will need to use your latest backup as the source for restore if necessary.

Be aware of the risks of 10.3.2 however... There are two things to worry about. First of all, be 100% sure that you know your BBID identifiers... If you do not, you may make your useless device to anyone, including yourself. Second, once you move to 10.3.2, you cannot fall back to 10.3.1 or earlier, by any medium (for example, even the unofficial AutoLoaders can not overcome this restriction anti-secours).

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry passport when viewing a video on Facebook or Youtube, speakers stops playing suddenly

    Hello

Hope someone can help me with this... Just got a new Blackberry passport a week ago, coming from an iphone 4 s. I have play videos on Facebook and Youtube and after a few seconds/minutes a VERY STRONG high pitch sound (more like a whistling noise) suddenly burst speakers, then slowly his is dimishing and after a few seconds, no more sounds of Blackberry coming out of speakers. The music plays, but no sound, even for the videos and key tone. I need to reboot my bb for my speakers to work again. What happens here?

Thanks for you help in advance!

    Frank

@frankviolette506 you play the in the browser? or in the apps?

It shouldn't make a difference, but it might help to determine where the problem is.

My Passport works perfectly for videos on OS 10.3.1.1581.

    Some things you can try:

    (1) I wish to usse BBVE, which comes with your device. Launch the tool, select the Center button, which will give you a list of tests and run the audio tests. He will perform a few tests that allow you to test the speakers, etc.

If one of them fails, I would first reload the OS using the software Link. Then rerun the tests. If they still fail I guess a hardware problem, I hope still under warranty.

  • BlackBerry Passport help to transfer contacts from "BOLD" to my new passport

    Hi all

I was so impresed with my BB bold connected to t mobile, I went and bought a passport.  It was a rocky transition.  The easy days of bb os pocket pc 7 days are numbered.  I'm a simple average guy on the street.  As I have a week before my t mobile payment is due and that date will enable the Passport to a mobile operator.  In the meantime I found it awesomely difficult to update the passport with the news of the "BOLD".  I had to find a wifi spot for BBID log on to Passport.  Then when I got home and load BBLink software, it says the Passport is disconnected.  I can access card multimedia passport that I installed, but this card is not the contact info I want to transfer.  I had two "BOLD" and connected by USB corb the same pc WIN8.1 passport and or displayed connected.

For a moment, I saw the directory of the Passport drive appear in my repertoire of the pc, I opened and beginning hurry to do what exe to start is supposed to do and it ended in an error notification on the mixture of BB software.  How can I convince my friends that BB is superior to other phones and I can't get the Passport to behave the way I want it.

Thanks in advance for help or advice

  • BlackBerry Passport new blackberry Passport

    Hello

I'm currently living in China and was thinking of buying a new passport for blackberry, but I don't know where they are (locally), if I buy one from canada or the United States will work with sim cards from China or other sim cards from other countries? Or incase it doesn't, how to unlock my phone...

If you buy a model with no brand store BlackBerry or on Amazon, it will not be locked to a carrier. But also make sure that the device will be based on the corporate network. You can compare the information provided by BlackBerry on its site the information provided by your operator. The thread at Crackberry is also useful.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones DTEK and device encryption must be OPTIONAL

As far as I understand BlackBerrys intended to ensure the safety of the box, I think that DTEK and device encryption affects performance and therefore has a negative impact on customers and the user experience and lead to lower sales and higher return rates.

BlackBerry needs to update the firmware and optional encryption of devices and security DTEK.

    Thanks for your post @Rotkaeqpchen!

PRIV centred on the security arrangements that we can't allow a user to remove DTEK or disable encryption.

That being said I capture your request and will share in your name with our train produced for later review. That being the case I'll mark my answer as the solution. To anyone else reading this post which is in agreement with this idea please like @Rotkaeqpchen and my post so I can understand the interest. Thank you!
