BlackBerry Smartphone Wifi and Email Setup

Hi all

I recently bought a unlocked BB Bold 9000 in the United States.  I am currently in Hong Kong where I use a local SIM card for my phone.

During the initial installation, I came across two issues:

1 email to "create or add an email address" option was not available, and

2. Wifi: It's what's really irking me.  WiFi means I should be able to connect to any hotspot, the free space, the network that I have access, regardless of my plan, correct?  I feel I have tried everything, but when I go to the browser, he repeats to me "you are not currently in an area that can handle the communication of data, therefore, the browser may not retrieve all of the web pages".

I'm really frustrated by the wifi configuration, so if someone could help me, I would appreciate it.  My friends with IPhones and the basic sim cards browse far and I have purposely NOT buy an iphone.  Hope we can prove them wrong.  Thank you!

To create an e-mail account on the device you need of blackberry data plan from your carrier? you have a?

The wifi browser, go to menu, options, advanced options, browser, change the default browser for wifi browser.

I got my new Blackberry 8520 Curve unlocked yesterday, pay-as-you-go.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

First of all, you must check with your service provider and to ensure that your account includes access to their Services for Internet BlackBerry (BIS)... If not, there will be no way to use these services. Quite often, the distribution accounts do not include this.

Good luck and let us know!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones, wifi and mobile network Q

If I turn on my wifi at home & sign in, & at the same time, let Mobile network on... fresh data which of them will be run out of?  The Mobile network will win or share or just use wifi?

Also I was wondering because I wonder if light work wifi when I'm at work, save my data & pass their lol

    TIA!

    Hello

In general, BBs "prefer" WiFi network of business for services BIS data. You can always check inside the connection management > State of Services, which BIS route is average.

But you should also check inside the apps... many 3rd party applications have configuration items, inside the application, allowing you to order the application to use a data compared to another channel. What I always do is run my apps use BIS... in this way, they will follow along as BIS shifts between WiFi and my network of business data. But, if (for example) you configure an application to use only your corporate data network, while the app can avoid past well after BIS BIS to WiFi, and this app may well continue to consume data out of your network connection data carrier, even if BIS moved to WiFi.

With older OS levels, you had no choice, but to leave the "Data Services" set on "on" any channel to use, which often caused the situation described above (BIS on WiFi, but some consumption of carrier data app)... disabling the Services of data, these levels of older OS, BIS-level data for all channels off including WiFi. With the later levels of the operating system (somewhere in the OS7 range, I remember well), you can actually turn off the parameter Data Services and wireless leash... that allows BIS to still work on WiFi, but prevents any application using the data carrier network regardless of how the application is configured.

But... I'm curious... you may have about the features that only work on SmartPhones BB, yet your profile on this site says you have only a PlayBook, in which case none of this applies since the PB has no radio has WiFi and mobile only. But, you posted this in the "BOLD" of this site section, so you could guess assumes that you have a "BOLD" in addition to your PB...

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry smartphone wifi and aplications.

    Hello.

Is it possible to force an application to use just wifi or anything?

    Thank you

You can disable the use of these data over the cellular network.  You'd still be able to send and receive phone calls, but no data could be exchanged.

You might be able to do using the policy.  It would be wise for businesses to have this ability.

Other that, the applications themselves have to be written to use only WiFi.  There is an option that developers can set when they establish a network ("interface = wifi") connection.  This option causes to a WiFi connection.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones SMS and email icons

Is it possible to separate the two?

I noticed that when I get an email, the sms icon is also marked. And vice versa...

Is one of the oddities of the storm?

It is not a big problem, but I was wondering

    Nytnurse40

If you mean, can you have an icon for SMS/MMS and a separate one for Messages, the answer is Yes. In the application Messages (with the list of messages displayed), click on the BB button and select Options > Options of the. Scroll down just a bit for 'SMS and E-mail Inbox' and change that to "separated".

  • BlackBerry Smartphone Wifi and data plan

I can't use my wifi when my data plan is turned off so that means if I was abroad and he wanted to use my wifi I have to turn on the data plan and I then will charge even if the wifi is free?

I talked to my SP and they said that I get charged if I used my data abroad plan.

If anyone can confirm here that you can not use wifi if no data plan?

I'm following you better now, thank you.

    Harry wrote:

How do they say that I use my data service if my sim card is not in the phone

You do not use the data service IF even the SIM card is removed.

For example, I have a Bold 9000 sitting here with me with no SIM in there either. If I turn off data services, WiFi browser does not work. If turn ON data services, WiFi, browser will work. This "BOLD" PIN is saved with ANY carrier. No data of the carrier service is used.

  • Questions of two blackBerry Smartphones: UMA and email

First of all, I have a 8900 I bought unlocked at Amazon.com.  Apparently, there no UMA, because I can't find the options even if T-Mobile said that it is available.  Is it possible to install or operate?  I bought specifically for this function!

Secondly, for this only to receive e-mail when I asked for it.  Currently he gets E-mail all the time, even after I disabled the reconciliation.  How do I disable email so I can recover only when I want?

    #1-vendor ID 301 Carphone Warehouse Spain/Carphone Warehouse UK/Carphone Warehouse France/Carphone Warehouse NL

You will get UMA of Tmobile with this phone, it's impossible.

#2-BlackBerry works differently, RIM push email on your device without worrying.

Gmail is not set to reconcile with your Blackberry (i.e., e-mailed PC shows on the BlackBerry), it's a new feature brought about with BIS 3.0

  • BlackBerry smartphones send/receive emails to business via Wifi

    Hello

Is there a way to define the place of "BOLD" to send / receive e-mails to company via Wifi when, in a trusted network zone?

Hi Kris_Stuart69 and welcome to the forums,

You should have no problems at all sending or receiving emails (BES or BIS) when connected to WiFi. When your "BOLD" is connected to the mobile network and WiFi at the same time, it will use the WiFi as the preferred connection. You can test this by making that WiFi is connected (connection-> Services Status Manager) and it will show you what service is currently being used for Mobile, BlackBerry Internet Service and BlackBerry Enterprise Service voice. When BIS and BES show free 'WiFi', you would be able to turn off the mobile network and you will always be able to send/receive emails. Once you have done so, turn on the mobile network and you'll see the link always shows as "WiFi" instead of "Mobile network".

    I hope this helps

  • BlackBerry® Smartphones getting fake email

    Hello:

I seem to be getting the wrong email. It seems an ENCORE in Bournemouth in England is send someone elses email to my PIN in the Canada. I sent emails to person to get his BIS to stop, but she did not. I don't think she even knows or cares. What to do. It makes me crazy with 50 emails a day.

To clarify, e-mails are sent to any PIN code. Rather, BIS pulls e-mails from an e-mail server and pushes them to the Messages of BB app under this integrated email account via BIS BB (for example, the e-mail on the device Setup Wizard). So, if you have only your GMail integrated with this BB, it must have some sort of redirection rule of sending emails to your GMail (which would be strange, indeed, I think)... but not to your BB PIN, for real emails don't get shipped PIN, only on the e-mail address.

Either it was not a new device but rather was used and was not properly cleaned of all configurations before being sold... and you're the unlucky recipient of a sloppy seller does not complete what they need to do:

    • KB05099 Steps to take before selling or after the purchase of a used BlackBerry smartphone

To be sure, check inside the e-mail Setup Wizard and see what you have there... If you only have your GMail account, then something really weird happens... and I recommend to contact the seller and make them apply to 'new' State they represented as height (note that is what matters... packaging can always be made to air well... only the issues of representation of sellers).

You can try the steps from the buyer in the KB above... but from what you describe, I honestly have very deep concern now on the total utility of this unit for you... He would never properly and fully usable.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry 10 productivity and Emails!

I've been a user Palm and webOS until last year that I got a Galaxy Note 3. After a year of vkb, I had enough and looked at Blackberry, due to see a movie where a sheriff used a BB constantly ;-)

However, one of my main actions on smartphones I've had is and has always been EMAILS and now I actually discovered, even BB is supposed to be the God of emails, you started with that as the first professionally - it seems that you have left out or forgotten what follows:

-arrow indicating that I responded to an email; When I reply to an email I usually keep until the matter is closed. Now going through my emails on my Q10 and PP I don't see (using gmail) that I had already responded to this communication, there is no indication of an E-mail answered - no arrow. It costs me more time to go to the folder send to look for if I had answered or not; This option is absent and somehow seems to work with outlook accounts, but also it it shows an arrow, when sent by the mobile device.

-by opening an E-mail on my computer or Mac app should I see on my mobile device (had with Palm and webOS and same Galaxy) that this email has been opened, ergo read by myself, so he would show also open or read on your handheld - default, this option is not available.

I don't know how others think about it or manage their emails - but for me it is very important and makes me lose a lot of productivity on my BB moble device, I had actually expected have solved even better with the first expert mobile E-mail in the world-, but didn't... looks a bit to have stayed in time.

This is an entry, and I wish I had a solution, but actually don't think there is one, that works for the user of the business not!

... or I am mistaken and there is a way to handle this?

Lol there should be no need to display the folder sent on the BlackBerry smartphone. Go to the Hub. Display settings. Select view and Actions. Near or at the top is a drop down to select the way in which messages are displayed. I recommend that you select the option chat. Farther down is a toggle to enable or disable the display of messages sent. Seems to me that you have it. When enabled, your sent messages will be visible and identified by a check box to the left of the message. In other words, the two messages received on the device and messages sent from the device are together on the same screen. If you group by conversation, you have the entire wire together.

I have not mentioned, but you can use the pinch gesture to hide and expose read the message, or even to define the action of pinch for another function you want in the Hub settings.

I do not use Google and have not been paying attention to what others say. If nobody answers here, a search can be useful. Sorry I can't help with that.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones not receive emails on my BB Gmail :(

Hello today I install both my Hotmail & Gmail on my BB Bold 9780 accounts. I received the confirmation emails "Activation on the server" in the two accounts on my BB so I assumed that everything has been done successfully. Fake! Hotmail works very well. I am able to send & receive the BB with no problems & receive emails in both my Inbox via hotmail.com & on my BB. However, the Gmail account, is another story. I am able to send using the my BB Gmail account & I get in my Inbox via gmail.com only! I sent emails at random my gmail.com Inbox just like a test & still only received in the Inbox via gmail.com & not on my BB. I don't know why were there to Gmail security changes that can cause this problem? Any help would be appreciated as my Gmail account is my main account for business related emails so I always need to be connected. Thank you.

  • Response of the blackBerry Smartphones can not email!

Suddenly, since I've updated my BB 8520, I find I can send and receive email - but do not answer them!  Any ideas as to why?

Hello and welcome to the community!

After updates or then get email of wobbly, I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come...) Please wait for this before moving on to the next step):

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network
    • Please wait a 'registration' message reach your Messages application

    (2) remove and return Service directories

    • KB05000 Remove the maintenance book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account in the BlackBerry smartphone
    • If you do not have access CMIME, continue deleting
    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    • Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If not, then you should try remove and re-add your BIS configuration for these accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile provider for formal support.

    Good luck!

It's very very interesting... I suspect the one who talked you to ATT was not (I'll be gentle) adequate training. Contractually, end users have no way to try to contact BlackBerry directly for anything (well, not for free). Rather, the carrier should worsen your BlackBerry case and provide you more information (for example, a file number)... but just to give you a phone number means (I'm sorry), the person gave you att, because this isn't how the support system. And it's actually a bit surprising... all the reports I've heard indicate ATT to get a best trained support groups for BB to anyone... but maybe they skate.

In any case, if the above does not work, their ring upwards and insist that they solve it correctly. Emphasis first to be transferred to the personal support of BB dedicated ATT (I think they have such a group) because it is also a mandatory step before be remounted for BlackBerry (but correctly... not the way you describe).

    Good luck!
