BlackBerry Smartphones 8703e backlight - stay on?

Is it possible to adjust the backlight of the screen so that it stays on while the device is connected to a power adapter?

Not by default, but you can install a free app called BBLight.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones phone backlight timeout on "BOLD"

Hey everybody. I recently got the blackberry "BOLD". My phones backlight timeout is set to 10 seconds. But never, he turns off the backlight, even after a few minutes. I know that on my old 8310 curve he would do this perfectly, why it does not work on my "BOLD"? And when I put the locking of the keyboard, it goes off, but then the light turns on and remains right on. Help please?

Just a note, I'm not sure if it affects anything. I have a few apps that I downloaded including Viigo, flashlight and google maps.

Hello and welcome to the Forums of Support BlackBerry.com.

Options > keyboard/screen, make your adjustment to something different, like 30 or 45 seconds, save and with the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery for a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to restart.

Try it and see if it works.

If so, return and set the time-out period for your desired amount.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones "BOLD" backlight

How can I keep the backlight when in its charging cradle. I like to keep the home screen when charging.  The clock is the only program that stays on while charging.  It should be an option to keep the backlight on the durning pricing.

The backlight time-out can be changed between 10 s and 2 min, no more than that.

  • BlackBerry smartphones apps always stay resident (always enabled) as part of the BB basis build?

Maybe it's a ridiculous question, but I'm a neophyte BB user and the new owner.  Like the rest of us, I try to keep my thin apps to give the phone all the resources he needs to be a useful tool.  Now the key BB (menu) gives you a list of all applications open (by image).

So the question for the pros is this - what applications are always running and resident?  I currently show Blackberry Messenger, HOME, phone, browser and e-mail as the resident apps 'cannot close them.

I would like to know if I'm crazy or missing the point.  Thank you.

Correct, these FIVE native OS always run in the background. Make sure that your browser is not open to an active webpage... that will drain the battery.

  • BlackBerry smartphone keyboard backlight off

After having modernized the o/s to 4.5.0.81 via Mac BB Desktop, the backlight for the keyboard software no longer works. Have reloaded o/s, hard starting, soft boot, read all the suggestions on the forums and nothing works for the keyboard backlight. It worked before the upgrade. No new apps installed.

    PLEASE HELP.

Of course, it's a possibility but I find it odd that the KB failed lights after that I updated the operating system.

Maybe it's time to move in the direction of the "eye-fone.

Sorry, we communicate here in the Forums, in this thread, you started, not by e-mail.

To do this, take your device in a dark or dimly lit room and cover the upper right LED area with the Palm of your hand.

Do you see the backlight on the keyboard light up?

Hmmm... Sorry to sound as I do not understand, but well I don't. Does this mean that the steps, has worked exactly as described, but do not resolve the symptoms you have described initially? Alternatively, the steps even not worked exactly as described?

    EmmanuelSmith911 wrote:
I'm starting to think that this could be the it policy which could cause this problem. How can I remove the it policy?

It is possible. But if you stay on BES, you cannot remove the it policy... you have to work with your BES admins to solve the problem.

If you are not on BES, you must first check if you have a latent policy on board:

    • Article ID: KB30076 How to check for an it on a BlackBerry smartphone policy

If you have one, then this is the only method to remove:

    • Article ID: KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory using BlackBerry Desktop Software Settings

Beware you warnings... it's completely destructive to everything you have on your device now, then you must know how to recover from that after the withdrawal of the policy. If you choose to use the backup/restore as your method of recovery, so make sure you do selective and not wholesale... If you restore databases who say company policy or something similar, then you just put it on your device policy, and be right back where you started.

    Good luck!

I have two own phones a Samsung S5 and BB 9780, please help me to unlock the network.

    Kind regards

OK, so you need to start with is the following:

    • Article ID: KB05099 Steps to take before selling or after the purchase of a used BlackBerry smartphone

The steps of the WIPE removes prevention device-lock password and return the unit to (almost) a State of "new factory". If the device is locked by password, then you just keep trying until exhaust you all attempts, how much the device will perform the WIPE to remove this password.

Be aware, however, that it didn't is not held here which may have to be performed by the actual owner of the disk... for example, the former carrier may refuse your request to release the BB ANKLE of their BIS system so that you can have your door - create an account BIS for the device. You are not the owner of the disc with that carrier, but as you go through the required legal process, the police various or other reports that you hold some sway with the former carrier.

In addition, it is possible that the previous owner reported to their carrier (and other authorities) as lost, and the unit may now be on the blacklist, which will prevent its features on any carrier anywhere, anything else is done. But, again, these official reports, you have maybe a few extend.

You do not want to check if the device is carrier unlocked or not... If not, then it can only serve as it is originally made for door. Reference:

However, even if unlocked, so also reported as lost, then it still won't fully work on any medium. Except again once you use your police service and other reports as stabilizing with the carrier imposed on the lock.

Also, be aware that no BB devices are universally functional on all carriers. First, each model is made with only a few radio technologies and frequencies that the unit can operate with... and can operate on carriers that operate on those. In addition, each carrier decides what specific device model numbers that they will support for these features BB... If the carrier does not have this device as supported for automatic broadcasting HRT and address book maintenance, then full BIS functions may not be possible, even if it is consistent with what the carriers of radio signals.

You have a lot of work to do. Good luck and let us know!

    Hi Tamara133

Welcome to the Forums of the BlackBerry Support

If you stay at 9320 curve then more easiset way to do this is an Assistant to switch device using Desktop software.

KB23677  :  How to switch using BlackBerry Desktop Software devices.

Or if you want to perform a selective restore to your new 9320 then first do a full backup of your old 9700 using desktop software. Once you have your backup connect your 9320 and run the software, select the device from software > restore > data choose selected since your last backup you did > scroll down the list and select only the password keeper and memo key data in this list, then click on apply.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Bold 9700 will not ring

Hello guys. I have a problem with my BB Phone. It does not ring. When people try to contact me, it just doesn't sound. I have v.5.0.0.586. I tried rebooting by removing the battery, but still the same problem. Could someone help me please?

    Hi BiancaBogdan

It's fine if your device passes self-test.

Have you tried to change your ringtone to any default ringtone?

If the problem persists, then it could be a software problem, but this is my personal advice to stay on OS 5, because the Bold 9700 doen't have enough memory to run OS6, you can install it on your Bold 9700 OS6 but you will have to confront the issue with little memory, will not be able to install the application a lot , multiple tabs, you may experience problems such as freezing and trolling device. I suggest that you should stay on OS5 and try to perform a clean OS Reload that will correct any software problem.

first make a backup of your device using desktop software:

KB12487 : How to backup BlackBerry smartphone data using BlackBerry desktop software for Windows

Then follow this KB to recharge your device software:

KB11320  : How to perform a reload own BlackBerry Device using BlackBerry desktop software for windows software

After charging, do not restore any 3rd party application from your backup, choose a selective restore, restore only your Contacts, calendar, memo etc. Check your device and see if the problem resolves. If the problem continues then you can start with the native BlackBerry application and continue with the others.

Try it and tell us your progress.

  • Problems of blackBerry Smartphones

My blackberry 9320 curve was updated yesterday, I failed to make updates and now the phone turns no-screen is black but the red light is on tried to do a system update, but nothing happens. Download expires, getting very frustrated because I have tried since 11:00

Need the bbm as soon as possible

    • Thank you

Hello and welcome to the community!

First of all, it looks like your battery may be dead... Please try this sequence... Note that, throughout the whole 4h15m process, your BB should stay connected to a good charger (not the USB PC):

    1. With battery, connect your BB to the wall charger
    2. Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the screen not
    3. Remove the battery
    4. Wait 15 minutes
    5. Insert the battery
    6. Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the screen not

This has been known to "revive" some BBs.

It is also possible that your battery or BB has encountered a problem... to test, this sequence is necessary:

    1. Get a known good and already fully charged battery... use it in your BB and see what happens
    2. Get access to a BB good and the same known... use your battery in there and see what happens

The results of this will show if your BB or your battery that has the problem.

Once your battery is fully functional, so please visit this official download portal as you go along. If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.

From a PC, you can install any compatible OS package (for example, for your BB model exact number) of a BB via this procedure:

Note Although written to "recharge" and the storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade or recharge any BB device model - depends on the operating system package you download and install on your PC. After installing the operating system on your PC package, please remember to remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

Don't forget that you remove, since your PC, any other BB OS devices as packages with more than one installed on the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.

You can also try the "skeleton OS Reload procedure" in an attempt to circumscribe the precise causal element:

    1. Load your OS "bare bones"... If everything is optional, do not install it.
    2. If the behavior is immediately, then try another OS with step 1
    3. If the behavior does not immediately, then run for as long as necessary to make you to be sure that the behavior will not occur.
    4. Add one more thing - no matter how tempting, one.
    5. If the behavior does not immediately present, and then runs for long enough to be sure he won't have the same problem
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are responsible or the behavior presents

When the behavior shows up, you know the culprit... the last thing you have loaded.

If the behavior doesn't re-present, then you know that step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior has anything, then you have probably a problem of material level for which no amount of OS or software can heal.

You may also use these tips:

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

  • BlackBerry Smartphones phone won't boot to the top

I downloaded a few applications to Blackberry World on my night of phone. One was booster. When I tried to open it I got an error message saying something about Java, and after failed attempts to open it, I deleted it. The other was AP Reader. I just tried to open it for the first time this morning. When I clicked on it, the phone started to reboot. He took an unusually long time to restart, then I put down and came back some time later. When I picked up, he seemed to be in the off position. I tried to turn it back on but nothing happened. So I took the battery out and put back. The fire came, stayed on a minute or two, but instead of booting, the phone is off again. I tried to remove the SIM card as well as the battery and then replace both, but he got the same results. I can't even reset the phone to default settings because I can't seem to start. Help! What can I do?

Sometimes you gotta try some variations... If you have tried only twice, you did not probably not enough variations. I remember a device where I had to wait for the touchscreen to become active, hold down the ESCAPE key for about 50% of the loading bar, release, then press and hold again close to 80% to 90%. A strange sequence, but it worked for me.

If you don't want to keep trying, your only recourse will be more drastic... I hope you have a good backup, as it is unlikely that you will be able to get one now.

You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.

Good luck and let us know!
