BlackBerry smartphones a new user asks Curve 8330

I'm sure these are covered from somewhere, but I been searching Help for too long.

I guess that someone here will just know and be happy to tell me:

(1) why the screen sometimes goes dim? Is this a setting?

(2) what does that mean my phone is "scheduled to turn off" tonight? Is this a setting?

(3) what is a "case"? It appears in numerous menu but not in the glossary

(4) is there a table somewhere that says what all the status symbols are on the homescreen?

Some appear and then left and I don't know what they were for.

(5) is that the blinking light on top of any use other than to show that I always get a signal? Which is already illustrated by th bars.

(6) on my old phone the light was going to missed calls or missed reminders while I was away from my phone. Are there

a way to say, or what I have to check each time I come back?

Thank you

Yes, options > screen/keyboard > backlight. Why? To save the batteries and hold the button to a roar of low complaints about poor battery life.

(2) what does that mean my phone is "scheduled to turn off" tonight? Is this a setting?

Yes, Options > Auto on / off, your adjust as desired.

(3) what is a "case"? It appears in numerous menu but not in the glossary

The leathery pouch Holster or belt that comes with many devices, in the package. In the case for a real BlackBerry OEM Holster, there is a magnet inserted that the power 'sleep' save the battery life AND allows many more parameters in your profiles.

(4) is there a table somewhere that says what all the status symbols are on the homescreen?

Some appear and then left and I don't know what they were for.

Yes, in your manual are some.

Are there special you want to ask questions on?

(5) is that the blinking light on top of any use other than to show that I always get a signal? Which is already illustrated by th bars.

Yes, the LED is adjustable and NOT blink at the moment (green means that you have coverage), but also to Flash in red to send or notifications you receive, if you wish.

(6) on my old phone the light was going to missed calls or missed reminders while I was away from my phone. Are there

a way to say, or what I have to check each time I come back?

The red LED is adjustable for this.

Thank you

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Can I get my Curve 8330 replaced by limited warranty?

We bought my curve in March, so we should be still under warranty for manufactures of one year. Here's what the problem with my phone: sound effects are completely broken. Instead, it's sounds nice when I get alerts or calls, it makes a squealing sound! It started out of nowhere in a few days. I went to a Sprint store and they have immediately cleared saying me that we had to go directly via Blackberry. I searched the site and could not find the information I need to get it fixed/replaced. I don't know where to go in this regard. Can someone point me in the direction I should go?

    Welcome to the forums

Normally, you are covered for 12 months, when you get to the phone. Your service provider should be able to replace the phone as long as it has not been damaged by the water. If they refuse to do so, ask to speak to a manager who usually gets things market faster

  • BlackBerry smartphones, add a display language - Curve 8330

The aide said a display language can be added using the Desktop Manager application loader tool, and it refers to the software online help for office.

I have checked the help of Office Manager & software online help for office, but could not find info or instructions on adding a display language.

My device software worm is 4.5.0.127, my worm Desktop Manager 4.7.0.32.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you download and install the handheld computer operating system, you can then use the Desktop Manager Application Loader to install additional languages on the device. You can download the OS here

  • BlackBerry Smartphones help - new user of BB - how can I get a list of calls made/received?

I spent all day looking for an icon to click on the list of my calls (both crazy and received) but have no icon call log or anything like that at all! I loaded the CD that came with my BB 8900 (I only got 4 days) and he said I should have an option to purchase journal somewhere, but I can't. I tried to change the theme and restore the default values, but still nothing. Certainly there must be an icon or a graphical call center?

  • BlackBerry smartphone brand new Blackbury user. lot of questions

    Hello.

I just got the Blackberry curve 8330 yesterday.  I understood a lot about using the guides and reading the posts on here but I have a few questions, some may be stupid.  I hope that I don't ' have too much for you guys... lol

    (1) for the loading and the phone is or off.  Is there a way to do beep or something.  I hate watching to see if the light is flashing, or hit the screen when turned on to see if the loading icon bit has disappeared.   I know I'm picky about a few things... lol

    (2) where, in the call logs.  Is there a way to delete more than one message or text at a time.  Sometimes I'm lazy and don't ' delete them as they arrive or I emailed them but wait.  My old phone (nothing as fancy as a blackberry) you can select an option to delete everything.

    (3) the speaker.  how far do you have to have the phone away from you and ask the person to hear you again? (says they could be stupid questions... lol)

    (4) is it OK to keep the card media permanently.  I mean how do you know when you want to shoot a video or more pictures, then it may take?

OK, I think that's all for the moment... lol

    Jenn

    (1) no way to have a beep when the BlackBerry is responsible. And its going good to load it when its on.

    (2) to messages, press ALT + P. This allows to display phone calls. You can delete multiple at once here entries.

    (3) I guess it depends on how hard you're talking about.

    (4) Yes its okay to leave the card in all the time. I never leave my memory card.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones active new SIM - now phone SOS only

Hi all. Have a little problem. I had to go back to an old 9700 When my current iPhone broke. I needed a new card SIM from the iPhone using a different card. When I called Rogers to activate the SIM everything was fine for about a minute. I received texts that were pending since Sunday when my iPhone broke. I had full bars etc. Once a minute, he went to SOS only. While I was on the phone with Rogers Tech Support I have reset and removed the battery and SIM and all the things they wanted me to. Everything looks good on their system, he said that the problem must be with the device.

    A bit on the device:

Originally with Mobilicity in 2009. Opened and used with the wind. My father then used with Rogers and Fido. Since Sunday, when my phone broke, I used SIM card of my brother-in-law (he just swung at Rogers to the wind, but his plan has always been paid until the end of September) and the BB worked very well. If it worked correctly with a Rogers SIM.

Now, I get the same problem with my brother-brother SIM. SOS only. No connection. What happened when active Rogers SIM card must have done something to the camera itself because now it does not connect to any of them. That both SIMs work as I have tested both in my wife's phone.

The guy on the Support of Rogers suggested that perhaps the closed phone itself - but when I enter the settings advanced for the SIM card that everything is disabled in customization... so it appears not to be locked.

He said that I should try to reinstall the OS, but that it will block the phone and I need to unlocked again.

Is there anything else it could be? Will reinstall the OS relock the phone? Any other suggestions?

    Thank you very much!

Is there anything else it could be? Will reinstall the OS relock the phone? Any other suggestions?

First this... avoid this tech Rogers like the plague. He has no idea what he's talking about. All what he told you is simply not possible. Once MEP unlocked, a BB device can blocked at the factory. Nothing of what you have done or the facilities of any OS can relock a BB.

I'd rather a complete security on the Device Wipe:

    • KB14058 How to delete all data and applications in the smartphone BlackBerry using the security option wipe

    Otherwise, a ResetToFactory WIPE:

    • KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory using BlackBerry Desktop Software Settings

After each one, put it in the SIM card and switch on the device, and then make sure that the voice is through Rogers. Only then start to worry about getting all the data to work (if you subscribe BIS, in other words).

If you want to get off the OS Reload path, then the easiest way is, on a PC (you can not do this on MAC):

    (1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below. (not applicable in your situation)

    2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (4) download and install on your computer, the BB OS package you want:

    • If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.

    5) remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

6 (a) to change your level of BB OS installed (at level or lower), you can run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC.

6 (b) or, for recharging your BB OS level installed as well to change, work around the Desktop software and use the CHARGER. EXE directly, through step 2 in this process:

If, during the process of 6a or 6 b, your BB has an error '507', simply unplug the USB of the BB cord and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.

You can also try the "skeleton OS Reload procedure" in an attempt to circumscribe the precise causal element:

    1. Load your OS "bare bones"... If everything is optional, do not install it.
    2. If the behavior is immediately, then try another OS with step 1
    3. If the behavior does not immediately, then run for as long as necessary to make you to be sure that the behavior will not occur.
    4. Add one more thing - no matter how tempting, one.
    5. If the behavior does not immediately present, and then runs for long enough to be sure he won't have the same problem
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are responsible or the behavior presents

When the behavior shows up, you know the culprit... the last thing you have loaded.

If the behavior doesn't re-present, then you know that step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior has anything, then you have probably a problem of material level for which no amount of OS or software can heal.

You may also use these tips:

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

Hello and welcome to the community!

Yes, the device switch Wizard has two devices so that he can have an up-to-date backup. But, if you have a recent backup, then the previous BB shouldn't be necessary. See this KB:

Protect my bb can not download on my phone, as it has already been downloaded (not by me).

Now, I don't have the feature of bb protect. Can I be reissued with a new number IM for my phone so that I can download and make use of the bb protect feature on my phone?

Your carrier is wrong when they say that its been downloaded already on another device and that is why you can not download. I don't know why they say that, but that's not true.

When you download BlackBerry Protect, it should not ask you for your PIN or any code. The only time where he should require any entry is the first time you open (it may ask you to enter your email BlackBerry ID and password, but that's all).

Instead of download via the icon on your screen, open BlackBerry App World and search for BlackBerry Protect there Download BlackBerry App World. At least that can offer an alternative method. If you still have problems to make it work, please let me know.

  • Problems of blackBerry Smartphones with new sync Curve 8330/from the Outlook calendar.

I hope someone can help with my problem - after two days I'm out of ideas.

1.i am running a Vista 64 bit laptop with Microsoft Office 2007, including Outlook.

    2. yesterday, I bought a Blackberry 8330 and downloaded initially included DM, version 4.5.  After that some intitial hiccups with the synch I could synchronize contacts, tasks and Memo databases.

    3. once the initial synchronization, calendar download on the device, but the contacts file was messed up so I had to wipe everything and try again - since then, I am unable to synchronize the calendar, either from the device:

    I tried the following:

I uninstalled and installed DM three times - the latest is version 4.7 of the SM with the Media Manager.

I wiped the machine clean and started from scratch twice.

I also removed the battery and then reinserted it.

I tried both ways and a way synchs - none worked.

I tried something enter in the calendar of the unit and see if it will synchronize in Outlook. Nothing helps.

I spent three hours on the phone with Verizon and finally they told me this advice.

I found a thread that has a solution to someone who seemed very knowledgeable.  His solution involved something to do with the two emails on the device, but as I started on this solution, my Explorer has frozen and poured out the browser - and now I can't find the thread again.

Not a great day so far and I am hour # 14 without success - it is only today...

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you very much

    t

Of course the second idea was the winner - went in the options and found that the timetable has been set for Face Book - after my first synchronization when the RM calendar and AddressBook do not have I also loaded who's who and she took over.  Thank you very much for your help and now I'm a fully functional crackberry addict.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones has new Curve?

    Hello world!

I had just a small question

so its time for a new blackberry and I love the curve series, and I was wondering if he had plans for a new curve (for AT & T) at any time in the near future. I don't want to buy one and get a new one out shortly after!

It would be great if they could add the record video and wifi at the 8310... but I guess this would make just TOO perfect, huh? =]

    Thank you!!

Sorry Tanzim on wifi. I read an article of innacurate or I just misread it.

ilsb2m, release date depends on your operator. As of now I heat At & t is supposed to release sometime in September.

  • Change of Smartphones BlackBerry ID blackBerry for a new user

I bought a new Q10 and got the Rogers unlock code for my old Bold 9900 for my son IO use on behalf of wind. I dropped all the data from the old device, but it still uses my BBID when you try to access the BBM (I kept my new device BBID)

How can I go on assignment again ID BB for my son to use for the old "BOLD"?

Wipe the old unit with a security wipe. I don't know exactly who the phone OS is running, but it should be under Options > Options or security > device > Security. Once the phone has been cleared, power back on. You will be prompted to sign in with a BlackBerry ID, or you can register for a new. He grabs a new one and everyone is happy.

    I hope that helps you.

  • Volume headset from blackBerry Smartphones and clarity on the curve

    Hi all

I've been a user of Razr for quite a while and am very close to having bought a BlackBerry Curve of Alltel. Before I do, I really have your contribution to this:

Because I spend a LOT of time making phone calls and work in a noisy environment, the earphone volume and clarity are VERY important to me. I'm not sure if the curve can give me the benefits of a great smartphone AND a great phone in terms of call quality.

Can you give me your opinion on the earphone volume and clarity compared to the Razr (I currently use V9) and also if you think that because the tip is located a little further from your mouth against a flip style phone that it might cause problems in a noisey environment. Ive had before cell phones, which were weak in terms of call quality and its REALLY frustrating.

Thanks again for you input. This will help me make the right decision!

    my best,

    Rick

of all the greatness that is my BB, the listener and the quality leaves much to be desired.  If the volume is too high, cracking bad.  I use it mainly in the car and have bluetooth through the stereo, so in the car, it is not a problem for me.
