BlackBerry smartphones Announces "you now have cell coverage."

Any way to disable the "you now have cellular coverage announcement" on a 8310. I work in a hospital where cellular coverage is patchy to say the least, and the ad is getting really old.

Yes, you left running in the background of your GPS TeleNav or ATT Navigotor application. Close that application, or simply with the BB powered, remove the battery for a few seconds, replace and reboot and you will be good.

  • BlackBerry smartphones updated software now issues:(aider!!)

Hi guys. so I've updated my software on my bb curve 8520... Well the bb desktop software had asked me to do the experience works best with my phone. but it turns out to be the opposite. I can not call more I get this message when I try to call someone "can't call the current call" or if I managed to call I can't hang up unless the caller hangs up. my memory card is not working, or more, music and videos say 'impossible to read the content' but I can see all my photos. I can not view my airtime balance or update my bis. I tried to connect my memory card on my pc and it works fine when connected but as soon as I disconnect plays anything from my phone. I rebooted a million times. formatted the entire phone but nothing works! my alarm does not sound and sometimes when someone me the your text does not ring SMS. the update is performed from a 107... something to an update from 1788. I can do to fix all these technical stuff... im convinced this isn't the physical phone that is damaged. your help will be very appreciated. thanx

Hello and welcome to the community!

Given what you describe, I think that is better to a clean OS reload. The easiest way is, on a PC (you can not do on MAC):

    (1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below.

    2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (4) download and install on your computer, the BB OS package you want:

    • If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.

    5) remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

6 (a) to change your level of BB OS installed (at level or lower), you can run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC.

6 (b) or, for recharging your BB OS level installed as well to change, work around the Desktop software and use the CHARGER. EXE directly, through step 2 in this process:

If, during the process of 6a or 6 b, your BB has an error '507', simply unplug the USB of the BB cord and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.

You can also try the "skeleton OS Reload procedure" in an attempt to circumscribe the precise causal element:

    1. Load your OS "bare bones"... If everything is optional, do not install it.
    2. If the behavior is immediately, then try another OS with step 1
    3. If the behavior does not immediately, then run for as long as necessary to make you to be sure that the behavior will not occur.
    4. Add one more thing - no matter how tempting, one.
    5. If the behavior does not immediately present, and then runs for long enough to be sure he won't have the same problem
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are responsible or the behavior presents

When the behavior shows up, you know the culprit... the last thing you have loaded.

If the behavior doesn't re-present, then you know that step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior has anything, then you have probably a problem of material level for which no amount of OS or software can heal.

You may also use these tips:

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

    • KB19915 How to perform a clean reload of the smartphone BlackBerry using BlackBerry Desktop Software application software

Good luck and let us know!

  • BlackBerry smartphones when you save in outlook, it save your documents on card?

was wondering if anyone knew. a shame to waste all my .doc files if it is not

Ah... Ok... Manually... and I think this goes for 3rd party applications as well. DTM backup databases of Basic... see this KB:

KB03974 Databases on the BlackBerry smartphone

What I do is to maintain a list of 3rd party apps I have installed on my BB. Because I'm "attention to detail", I still maintain this list of things that I got via AppWorld or other sources that maintain their own list of what I have bought/installed. I also maintain a manual backup to my PC which is on my map of media - now it's easy since it is simply my entire library of music, videos, and only a few documents of any type. But your use may vary.

    Hope that helps!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones 8130 trackball now is the camera.

It started last night. He did not fall or taken on the water damage, he was sitting right next to me, and when I picked up and moved the trackball the camera running and began to take pictures.

To my knowledge on the trackball triggering the camera until a few minutes ago, because I moved the ball control a bit, so the offbeat Pearl and would not stop to take pictures. I tried the hard reset battery several times for periods ranging from 1 to 30 minutes, but nothing helps I couldn't stop. I took it to Virgin and they said since the 1 year warranty expired they couldn't do much for me unless I wanted to pay an arm and a leg to send it far from being fixed, that I don't have (not phones worth).

So I decided to take it upon myself, I disassembled the phone to check the camera button and see if something was stuck and it wasn't, no dirt or grime or anything, I then wiped the phone and reinstalled the OS blackberry and yet, I STILL have the problem. After trying looking for this problem and only find two others with the same problem (which just traded their phones in) I decided as a last effort to post my qualm here and I hope to have the chance to receive help.

    Fatal_Error wrote:

Also maybe just moisture. Where I live now, the heat and humidity were astronomical.

    That's my guess.

1 the battery immediately! Do not turn on your BlackBerry device.

    2. allow the device to dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days * (see below)

    3. DO NOT "check it every day" by placing the battery in. Leave what would to dry completely. It takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can damage only (humidity + power = disaster).

    4. If the unit is hot after the drying period, let it cool to room temperature before placing the battery in the.

    * Suggestions on your BlackBerry in a warm dry place (open, with battery):

    • Place the BB in a container of dry uncooked rice, and then you can also place it in one of the locations mentioned below.
    • On top of all heat dry emitting electronic components: TV or CRT, LCD, TV cable box / Satellite or plasma monitor
    • On the dashboard of your car on a day sunny

Strange question, but my husband works for a contractor of defense where you are returned if you bring a cell w / a camera in places.  He has a Blackberry "BOLD" which he ordered without a camera that needs to be replaced.  I hope that there is a 10 BlackBerry that can be ordered without camera.  Thank you.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones can you change the profile shortcut key?

The 'Q' key changes the profile of Normal on vibrate. Is it possible to put it allows to select another profile?

Also, is it possible to find a list of all the default shortcuts. I can't find anything in the menus? By example, to unlock the keyboard is 'A' and 'Send', but I only found this by chance. No doubt there are others!

No, you cannot change this profile shortcut key.

Here are a few shortcuts homescreen to another model. I don't have a complete list for the 8900, but 90% of them work:

To enable these shortcuts to work, you must have "Dial from home screen" the value 'No' (go to the phone dialer > Options > General Options.)

Also note that you only need to press to get these applications - if you press the keys, then the appropriate number of speed dial is always composed.

    No, it's not reload OS.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones if you want to be sneaky, is there a way you could...

My boyfriend is positive, there is some ongoing deceit. So I thought I would ask experts. Hypothetically, if you thought that your other significant has been doing some stuff, it shouldn't be, is there a way you can make a text message sent to her AUTOMATICALLY get you sent at the same time?

I told him, no, but he is convinced, so, I thought I'd ask you beautiful world.

    Thanks for your time!

I completely agree with you. And thanks for the information guys. My boyfriend thought that her daughter girlfriends did it to day curve. She is a slut of what I said, and would not put him in front of her. I told them they're nutz and she had a shitty attitude, and there is nothing that they were texting each other. I told him that you guys have confirmed my suggestion that it will not happen with a couple of spurts of buttons.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.

  • RIM blackBerry smartphones are you listening?

Thank you for making the software and excellent products. I have a few ideas for DM - the ability to manage the computer databases.

Create a way to manage the database on the computer at home, for example, I want to be able to go to DM and be able to pull up a contact and change it from my computer and then sync to phone, ringtones... The works.

Ability to merge all the texts and the message databases so that they can be viewed on the computer months days and weeks after have been removed from the unit without having to guess a time and restore said upward.

Add the power of a calendar which works as it does on the phone and is able to synchronize

I would shell out some coins for these features.

    Thank you

    Hello!

While I welcome your desire to contribute to the EDGE to improve their products, you may have missed the portion of these forums that cover who is involved - teas are a channel of support to users, not a user-to-RIM. Therefore, it is rather unlikely that anyone at RIM see your suggestions. But there is a different school of [email protected].

    Good luck!

  • Button Mute of blackBerry Smartphones said 'you have no new messages. "

I had a problem with my flashlight since I downloaded the updates of some apps the other day. Now, whenever the Mute button on the upper right part of the torch is hit, a gong sounds and a few seconds later, a female voice says "you have no new messages." My phone is always on the silence, but the voice and the carillon still sound at full volume. This happens frequently that the button fires when my phone is in my pocket. Does anyone else have this problem and I hope to know how to disable?

    Tom

Go to Options > device > application and look through the list of installed applications. Do you see anything that looks like its place there?

If there is, just delete the application that was guilty. If this isn't the case, then there are two more radical options, including making a security wipe to reset your phone or a complete reload of the operating system. If you do not know what app could be causing it, the list of your third-party applications here and we can see if anything could be the cause.

I have my phone auto shut off and on all day and every morning, I get this message... Thank you...

    Thank you Sydman of entry

Sailsbury1, when this message I expect to see a 'yes', 'no' and a box downstairs say something to the effect of 'don't ask me about this.  If you do not check the box, that you will be simply asked each time that you start the unit.  When this prompt appears, it shows you this box?  Does show you more if you turn the camera on its end (i.e. you see the box then)?

  • BlackBerry smartphone App World now blocks WiFi AND international vagabonds?

I frequently travel to Israel with my AT & T BlackBerry. When I upgraded to App World 2.0, I was suddenly unable to use App World in Israel ("BlackBerry App World is not currently available in your country") unless I turned off my mobile connection and used WiFi.

Today, I upgraded to App World 2.0.1.12 and now I can not use App World with WiFi! When you try to do, I get the message "you do not have a sufficient wireless coverage or your connection to the wireless network is turned off.

RIM is trying to deprive international travellers? Is that going to be what pushes me to switch to the iPhone or Android?

    UPDATE!

I just upgraded my Torch 9800 again (at least for AT & T customers) 6.0.0.526 (2342) OS and now AppWorld works again for me in Israel (have not tried WiFi - and I don't know if it's because the AppWorld is now available for all Israeli BB users or just roamers). I don't know if it is related to the upgrade (perhaps there is a new version of the AppWorld), but the boy I'm glad to have him back!
