  I'm running Debian unstable, and I've recently updated my system after several months of not doing (the last time was before the latest version of Debian). Once the upgrade is finished, I noticed that Skype (I have 4.2) had ceased to work properly with the following symptoms:

  • If I make a call immediately after the start of Skype, I get no sound. I can see in the controls of PulseAudio that Skype has opened an output stream, and yet nothing comes out the speakers. The microphone, on the other hand, works fine (the other part of the call confirmed that they could hear me).
  • If I can put an end to this call and try to start another one, without leaving Skype first, a buzzing begins at the time the call is trying to produce a sound. The buzz persists even after that I ended the call and indeed persists until I have quit Skype.

  Since I've updated many packages at once, it is virtually impossible to tell what package updates may have caused this. In addition, the problem is specific to Skype; all other sound generating programs work very well. In any case, I would be happy to provide you with additional information that might help.

  I actually "solved" this by running Skype from the command-line in the following way:

  PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC = 30 Skype

  It is still is not ideal because it does not work out of the box, but it does the trick. However, in the meantime, it stopped recognizing my webcam, so things aren't great yet. :-(

  Until the CALL button about 3 weeks if I pressed the Green, I could see all recent calls I had made, received, and missed. However, now, if I press the call button I only get missed calls and nothing else which is really annoying, as if I comes to call someone and call their return I must find their number in the phonebook or press the number again manually. I looked everywhere to try to find how to get it back to normal. Can anyone help? Thank you.

  p.s. I don't know how or why this has changed.

  Have you checked that the phone list view is set to call log.

  Press the call key, then the BB menu button

  Select the Option

  About 1/2 at the bottom of the list is the view of list phone - if necessary, replace this call log.

  Help!  All timed very well but one day then just stopped working.  I rec'd an error from "Intellisync" message indicating that "the operation ended unexpectedly.  I tried to uninstall the DM Software & reinstall several times but it does not help.  I tried to synchronize from the device only to Outlook & it worked once, but the second time I rec has got the same error file 398 194.

  In my desparation to keep trying different avenues, I have tried to uninstall the DM again but reinstalled the 4.3.0.15 version (15 August 07) rather than the newer versions (had already tried the 4.5 and 4.6 with the same errors messages).

  My first attempt to sync my Outlook calendar with v.4.3 does not work either, but for some reason, it works now.  Go figure?  I'll just cross my fingers and hope that this older version will continue to work.

  Got my storm for about 5 days and I'm still trying very hard to this...

  in any case, as my topic, I'm trying to see if there is an easier way of correct Miss typed words in a message. Sometimes, when I typed a message, there is a spot with misspelling or a word that does not pick up the AutoText.   If you write an e-mail or a text message, touch the screen with your finger, but don't click it. After like 3 seconds, the cursor turns into a rectangular box. Keep your finger on the movement of the screen the cursor to the desired location in the text. When you release the box changes in a cursor, and you can then type or delete.

• BlackBerry Smartphones New - fatal error during the first update by using the Office Manager phone

  During my first update using the Desktop Manager, there were 13 steps, and I had to unplug to half way through.

  Now when I try to repeat the process, the update gets steps 1-6 and just after reconnecting to JVM (step 6) I get a "fatal error update device software, please try again" I tried several times and it always stops in the same place.  The phone then has the radio turned off, and I have to restore the connections.

  Recently, I moved the United States in India and brought with me my favorite Storm 9530. In the United States, I had Verizon as my career and I went to Vodafone in India.   The solution does not work. The only thing you need to keep in mind is to first take a full backup of the device via Device Manager and wiping the device, DO NOT remove the third-party applications.

  My call log lists only the missed calls (dialed or received calls). He did this for a few weeks now. I received the error message 'exception: java.lang.NullPointerException eception' a few times as well.

  I checked all available software updates and I use the most recent software.

  I fixed it!  It took about an hour on the phone with t-mobile, but we thought about it.   For me, the problem was probably a few information corrupted in my call history.  I need to delete all the call history, and then it was fine.  To do this, you need to install the blackberry desktop manager on your computer if you have not already (be it from the cd that came with the phone or the Web site).  Open Fund Manager and connect the blackberry to the computer.  Select the backup and restore option.  Then, select the advanced option.  On the right side of the screen, there will be a list of all the features of the phone.  Scroll to phone call logs.  It lists the number of records in the phone.  All I had to do was remove all records from phone call and it was corrected.  Now my lists of newspaper calls dialed, received and missed and I no longer get the error message.  I hope it helps you too!
