BlackBerry Smartphones on Sprint's Wifi?

I was wondering just with the 8330 having wifi what Sprint do to cause them to not have WiFi?  Is it just no material at all or do they simply disabled the feature via the software update or something?

There is no wifi on the 8330.  The 8320 (GSM version) has wifi, but not available on Sprint, Verizon, Telus, and Bell 8330 (these last two are the Canada).  If you want more information, see this page:

http://NA.BlackBerry.com/eng/devices/blackberrycurve8300/#features8330

Click on the links to feature select for each model to see the different features.

I hope that helps to explain this to you.

  • BlackBerry smartphones to remove permanent Wifi browser - how?

I haven't bought a 9700 ROGERS no contract to replace my phone to work. The policy of the company, is that none of the mobile devices cannot have any method of navigation interenet. The 9700 will not network go, unless you have a blackberry data plan and I have nothing but personal messaging plan which works well. The problem I have is that the wifi browser still works and even when I remove the wifi browser in the service books, it is just when I do a battery pull. How can I permanently get rid of the wifi browser without being connected to a BES? (the company doesn't have a BES) - hide the icon isn't enough...

Thank you J Sanders. Sounds like something that will work. Forgive my ignorance, but where can I find version 5.0.0 for my 9700? -When I search the Blackberry site and enter my PIN (a ROGERS device) they do not show a BONE available for the 9700 yet...   I can't get the unit off I can? I really think what I need to know how to "install your current OS on your BlackBerry smartphone to your computer?  Thanks for your help, otherwise I can't use this unit that I paid $600 for

    Before you start:
Install your current OS on your smart phone BlackBerry to your PC.

    1. on the PC, go to C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Share d\LoaderFiles\OS version\Java.
Create a new folder and name it deleted.

    2A c:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Share d\LoaderFiles\OS version\Java

Find the .cod named net_rim_bb_browser_dameon and move it to your new folder cod.

    3. plug the device and on your PC, open the Desktop Managver > AppLoader > Add/Remove programs and work your way through the process to remove the net_rim_bb_browser_dameon module. You won't notice any changes until after you see the screen of the Application loader, don't click on the boxes, click Next, then finish. ONLY you will see it after clicking Finish a quick notice that the module browser_daemon is deleted.

Close DM at the end leave your device restart.

After a reboot, you can get a java error at startup. Ignore it.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones bb curve 8520 wifi ssid and appworld does not

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Let me try and parse your sentence without punctuation of 76 Word and see if I can understand what are your questions...

    dannyandringa wrote:

    I have a problem

I think that this is your first sentence...

    dannyandringa wrote:

I can not conect to 2 wireless access points that have the same ssid it tells me to replace the one other than my router at home and at work are the same, I have to remove the one that made me enter the password all the time are there no way to change this

    I think you meant:

I can not connect to 2 wireless access points that have the same ssid. He tells me to replace the one that my router at home and at work are the same. I have to remove the one that made me enter the password all the time. No there is no way to change this?

So, with this now readable survey, I suspect that the BB stores each WiFi network as the network SSID. That would mean no duplicates allowed in this profile on the BB database. I can find no documentation backup, but the behavior you're seeing, it's a reasonable assumption.

To deal with it, I suggest change you the SSID on your router so that it is unique and, therefore, can store a separate profile on your BB and keep all the credentials.

    dannyandringa wrote:

Also app world does not work on my mobile, why it's a smartphone right bb so why can't I use it?

For that, I think that you meant:

App world does not work on my mobile. Why? It is a smartphone from bb right? So why can't it use?

Don't I have that right? If so, please check this page to ensure that you meet the minimum requirements (including if it is available in your country):

If it is available in your country and you feel you meet the requirements at the level of the device, and then contact your provider to make sure you meet the requirements of the plan (to them) access (via their network) service to AppWorld.

Finally, know that AppWorld is simply a portal, vending apps developed mainly by others. Therefore, it is not your exclusive supply source - there are others that you can try (e.g., Handango, Handmark, BPlay, GetJAR and Mobihand). I found that there are very few applications that is exclusive to AppWorld. You can see the online catalogue and then look for other sources of supply, including quite often on the developer website.

    Good luck!

There is no device without wifi band. All devices BB10 (Q10, Classic, passport, etc.) have the Parental control and while you can not turn off wifi completely, you can disable the browser, camera, BBM, Twitter, Facebook, Upload on Youtube, configuration of the email account, location information, buy BBWorld, install Applications and content. You can also disable the phone calls and text messages from people who are not contacts on the device.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones don't use wifi

    Hello

I am a newbie for Blackberry. I turned off my data plan and connect to the wifi. but when I try to browser it say unable to connect. Error message: data service are disabled. Go to the Mobile network to enable. I don't want to use my data plan. I want to use wife to go. Please advice. Thank you.

    Hey gunasilanm,

Welcome to the community of BlackBerry Support Forums.

    Thanks for the question.

Data services must be enabled to use the Wi - Fi® network. I suggest to turn off the Mobile network, if you do not want to use the data from the mobile phone network.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    See you soon.

  • BlackBerry smartphone app world without wifi 3g curve

I bought a blackberry curve 3g yesterday and everything works as usual put. All the email, phone, internet and browsers and bb I'm all work perfectly. And bb app world works WITH a wi fi connection. But when I try to access bb app world without wifi the following message appears "you are currently on a service plan that requires a wifi connection to use this application. If you want to use this application out of the wifi please contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan". A similar message on the data plan is displayed when you try to access the app facebook at any time

I phoned vodafone and they said that everything was going well in their end, and I have all the correct data plan and bb services and keep me here lead. I don't know what the problem is and I would be very grateful for help. Thanks in advance

It actually does not matter... When you re - save, all are re-initialized.

I was looking on the part management of connections the phone and when you turn off WiFi, internet service blackberry and blackberry enterprise server each say no link. I don't know if it's relevant or not, because as I said before browsers all work fine.

It's quite relevant. When cut you the WiFi, BIS (and BES, if you have one) should get to use your carrier data network. Something is certainly not there... then contact them and insist on climbing.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BBM STOPPED WORKING WIFI

Please, I wonder if someone will have a solution to my problem BBM, I currently use my blackberry on a wiFi connection at home that I have completed my contract with my network provider (virgin). The BBM, applications ( yahoomessenger, Windows Live, AIM, talk) IM, my facebook apps and blackberry world were all works well even with different WiFi. But recently, I am unable to use all the above applications mentioned above all my BBM as I needed it hard to communicate. At first, I thought it was the internet connection at home but I found the browser and two other applications that I work perfectly. I don't know if someone will have an idea of any solution to this problem.

I'd appreciate any effort to solve this problem.

    frexyy wrote:

.. as I finished my contract with my network provider (virgin).

Here, there is your problem.  So that your BlackBerry to access Wi - Fi, it needs some service books, which are like instruction manuals so he can learn to do.  These service books are pushed to your phone via BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service), a fancy name for a monthly data BlackBerry from your operator.  Without these service books, your phone will not access many features Wi - Fi.  Once you have BIS on your account, you can actually turn off your network connection and just use a Wi - Fi connection, but you must have BIS in place initially.

I hope I've been helpful to you.

Do you know how to reboot your router? It's pretty simple... Disconnect the power from the router and the CABLE internet, for about a minute, replace and allow the router to boot.

Similarly, doing a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with smart BlackBerry poweredphone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most defects and errors of operating system, and you will lose any data on the device doing so.

Now, try again to establish the connection

  • Email to blackBerry Smartphones / WLM / BBM on WiFi

Just bought my first BB, Bold 9700 at Wind Mobile.  I would like to know if it is possible to run WLM, BBM and/or e-mail (not BES) access without a data plan and how I can do this.

    Specifications are:

    1. currently with FIDO without a data plan (I asked to block access to data for the moment)

    2. pending for the code of the RIM so I can't unlock the Bold 9700

    3. has bought a 3 G SIM Fido handset which I use my Sony phone for now

    4. in vain tried to activate my IMEI with Blackberry (I guess I must do this and BB Messenger can work with BIS) after asking Fido to register IMEI on their network

After I unlock BB and insert my 3G FIDO SIM, I'll be able to run WLM, BBM, or access to non - BES emails?

I tried to register my phone via Blackberry as a Fido service my IMEI & pin, but she would not cross even if I asked FIDO to save my IMEI on their network.  Any ideas?  The phone has not been unlocked yet?   What I'm missing here?

    Thanks in advance.

You have to, to get the push RIM email functions you are looking for, as well as services of BlackBerry data such as the Web browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger and much more.

Then call your carrier and you learn about to have added to your account BlackBerry data Plan.

    Good luck.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones cannot connect to WiFi

Yesterday I got a new BlackBerry Curve 8520 (with Orange as my network).  I connected on my home network protected by password and managed to connect to the internet.  It worked well all night, but I tried it tonight and it refuses to connect.  When I try to navigate to a Web page via the broser, he said "this is a Wi - Fi service. Please make sure that your device is equipped with an active WiFi connection and try again. "When I try to connect to my network without wire in the connection setting, he says:"could not connect..." "Reason: unable to associate the network."  I tried to take the battery, but ity still does not work.  Other solutions?

Never mind.  Restart my router fixed.  I should have tried that first

  • Normal blackBerry Smartphones wap data and wifi, support plan

I got my 8900 for a week and love it, I still find questions, however.

Obviously, I have a data plan for it, so I can down load things and use full functions

I also put in place to find and connect to my home of BT Home hub router.

IM amazed how he picks up as fast, from the time wherever I shoot on the disk.

MY question is.    When im at home, when I go to download things, as applications use the browser.  is it automatically use my wifi to downlaod them and no data plan? (I admit it seems faster)

As long as you have turned on WiFi logo, you are on the Wi - Fi router.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones are Sprint towers SIM locked?

I was on a cell phone and store parts site a few moments ago and I noticed that they offered unlock for towers of BlackBerry, which seemed odd that they would suggest such a thing. And then, I intend to go somewhere soon, and I want to know can I switch SIM cards without problems. Can someone confirm or not the towers have a SIM lock on them? (FYI, for those who are familiar with a different term, when I say SIM lock I am referring to the carrier blocking the no carrier use of SIM cards in the phone without a special password to disable locking)

    Thank you!

Well, its depending on where you're traveling, but for use in the United States, Yes, all the BlackBerrys are delivered locked, including the tower.

If you need your unlocked, just call your operator request a free release. Most requre just one account in good standing, some require an account for 90 days.
