BlackBerry smartphones, Palm Desktop 6.2 to Blackberry without Outlook or Palm device data transfer

Just got my new Blackberry Tour.  My Palm T / X is dead, but I still run the Palm Desktop for my calendar & contacts.  Tried to create a spreadsheet Excel and then running via Outlook by another suggestion posted, but for some reason any, I can't Outlook to open!  So is it possible to transfer data without using outlook and without having a Palm device to use?

Thank you!!!

If you have data in Excel, you can save the excel file in an ASCII text and file import/synchronization of the device through the Desktop Manager.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BB Desktop / 9700 / Vista Business (32 b) / Outlook ' 03. Synchronization problems

I am a newbie here and need help. So, to keep a long story... long. Recently, Dell recalled my hard drive and sent a new. Previously, I was running XP Pro/Outllook ' 03 / with an 8820 and BB Desktop 4.6 flawless. Now, with the new hard drive, I'm under Vista Business (32-bit) / Outlook ' 03 / with a brand new Bold 9700 (T-Mobile) and BB Desktop 5.0.1. I'm unable to set up intellisync to outlook. When you set up synchronization, I pass all motions and get a "Runtime error", "cannot find the system in table file. • Data transfer Palm Pilot IIIx for Blackberry 8320 blackBerry smartphones

Thanks to BBSingh for help posting this message. I would really appreciate help from the members of the forum to provide a remedy that is known to work with my Palm and Blackberry.

My problem is changing my old (December 1999 vintage) Palm IIIx data to my new Blackberry 8320. Years, I have used the Palm in conjunction with a Motorola L7089 (April 2000 vintage) and their IR ports for data transfer; Unfortunately, the phone fell in water and after drying carefully, he could make and receive calls again its screen remains empty, so no need to send SMS and most of the functions. Sales team convinced me to buy the Blackberry, but I'm starting to wonder if I've been conned, as usual with sellers once they get your money that they are not prepared to do anything else. New technology has undone me. In the long task of transfer of several thousand items manually I had recourse to the expertise of this forum.

A tip I found has been updated the Blackberry Desk Top Manager to v4.6 and it would list the Palm in its devices to transfer data from. I did, but the resulting Wizard at the point of registration of the Palm, but it wouldn't activate a greyed on the option button. DTM for Windows status options System Tray icon COM1 has been disabled. I could allow it, but as soon as this dialog box has been closed COM1 returned to the disabled state. BTW, this is a non sequitur on COM1 Hotsync of Palm transfers data to the PC via COM1 and the Palm software tools works very well also. I closed all the related applications of Palm and it made no difference. I tried DTM 4.5 with the same result. As an aside how the icon options DTM is deleted from the system tray, Windows Task Manager should be used to close the application.

Another tip say to export data from Palm in Outlook Express, then DTM would need to be OE. I enabled OE reluctantly because it is a questionable product, a favorite oxymoron is "microsoft security", has exported the Palm data in a CSV file, but when they are imported to OE it's garbage. Repeat the exercise but exported as tab delimited and got a worse result. Try to import or the other of these abortions in my Blackberry has been a waste of time.

Another tip say export data from Palm as VCF which can import BlackBerrys, but did not say how they did it. Palm tools allows only the comma or tab files in the delimited export formats.

MY PC is a Dell 4600 with 2 GB of RAM and 300 GB SATA HDD, XP Pro SP3, so that all the relevant fixes SP3 post. Windows Firewall software, the AV and malware have been temporarily disabled, and I logged in as administrator too.

    RESOLVED - 98%

A big thank you to everyone who contributed ideas. Here is the solution to most data transfer: -.

    1. install the Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.5

    2. download the latest tools of Palm Desktop Manager which is 4.1.4 (I used 3.6)

    3. perform hotsync of Palm IIIx with Palm tools

    4. disconnect the Palm Pilot from PC

    5. connect the Blackberry to the PC

    6. open Blackberry DTM and check ' device (PIN): "appears

    7. Select the device switch Wizard, grant conditions and the next screen shows active button for Palm devices, click Next

8 calendar, addresses, etc. are read, previews of each appear for approval; with the exception of the calendar. Click OK to finish and get out

    9. close DTM, disconnect Blackberry

10, opening relevant applications on Blackberry to check, all transferred no problem except the grille which was empty

I can live without the old calendar entries and do not have to manually re-create handfull. So the question is settled.

  • BlackBerry smartphones what desktop software to download? (lost my disc :()

I have a Curve 8310 and am trying to DL Office on a new computer, but I lost my original disc. I know it's a stupid question, but I can't really know what software to download!

my phone is 8310, always running v 4.2.2.170 (updates which even today, if I can DL the desktop software, not sure what to do first!)

and the version number is followed by "Platform 2.5.0.30.

Any help would be REALLY appreciated!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

The device OS version is normally irrelevant at the time to choose a version of the desktop software - although I usually like to use a DTM version that is at least as recent as the device OS version. The main factor for the choice of a DTM version is based on the integration of the Organizer you want. If you want to sync to your desktop PIM, you must use a DTM version that is compatible with this PIM. See this KB:

    • KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager to synchronize

Your choice next is language - or only in English or multilingual.

Your next choice is Media Manager or not.

Once you have made these choices, you can refine the exact file to download. On the download page of choice, there are a lot of other selections... These are all USB driver-packages only, in several languages. You can ignore those that the full package of DTM includes all the drivers you need.

In case you haven't, here's the RIM for DTM download page:

Edit - oh, and don't forget your device from your carrier OS package. You that install on your PC as well at the top of DTM and changes DTM to be customized to your BB on your support with your device operating system level - so that he can present appropriate recommendations. You can find your carriers download page through this Portal:

  • BlackBerry Smartphones and Desktop Manager Device Manager

I'm confused. Is there a BlackBerry Desktop Manager and BlackBerry Device Manager? I have always used the BB Desktop Manager when I can't get a client device to synchronize properly by enabling wireless. So, what is the difference and where can I get the Device Manager?

you have a desktop software package that includes:

    • Device Manager (for tethering for example)
    • Pack Desktop Manager

    the Desktop Manager pack contains:

    • BlackBerry Desktop Manager only
    • Roxio Media Player (optional)
    • BlackBerry Media Sync (optional)

    the BlackBerry Desktop Manager includes:

    • a module of configuration BES or BIS (but not both)
    • a module to synchronize databases with a PIM desktop like Microsoft Outlook or IBM Lotus Notes (contacts, tasks, calendar)
    • backup / restore of module
    • an Application Loader module (which acts both as an installer of the OS and a theme/app Installer)

on top of all that you have drivers USB BlackBerry for BlackBerry devices.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones why Desktop Manager is so ugly?

I love my Blackberry device - but I hate Desktop Manager.  Why does a piece of software so bad?

I'm afraid my BB synchronization.  It usually takes at least half a day - sometimes more.  It starts with the usual plethora of new updates the system indicates to the facility, some fail.

I have a database of contact moderately important in MS Outlook (> 4000 records), but I do not think that he has never synchronized with my BB device without at least produce an error.  Flavor of today is 0x80040fb3.

It seems that this is the result of what Desktop Manager seen as a broken contact record in Outlook.  But Outlook recount not mistakes - it works fine.  Why so Desktop Manager so picky?

And why is it unable to trap the error and manipulation?  Or at least to notify the user with useful as information: "synchronization failed: there was a problem with the record that contains 'Albert Bloggs'."  Instead, we get '... 0x80040fb3. see the documentation "... like idleness, the part of the programmer.

What annoys me really, however, is that the synchronization of the device to the PC cause the field "Note" Outlook will be truncated without warning.  My contact data are very important to me, and to the wire of the time that I was using my BB a large part of it has been totally lost in this way.  If the system must truncate when he meets a unlimited field, then by the love of God give me a warning and some choice in the matter.  And to preserve the data so there is no doubt.  I don't know why the community is not in the arms on this issue.

Very welcoming. I understand the frustration.

    Halhazy wrote:

your point "is a good basis" for the sync seems to be good advice, that I could have done with after a year or more.  But this should not really be like that.  The BB is not for lovers and Outlook.  These are the great products for the public and should simply better work together out of the box.

    Agreed.

In my case, I constantly add contacts or additional contact information in Outlook and directly to the BlackBerry. I expect to be transparent, and - for me - it's just that, 95% of the time. But I know from experience that I put two applications through probably a higher than average use as normal user, and I honestly expect a user error on my part now and them I've added randomly and notes to contacts, etc. For the average user, it works very well and we are not among the thousands for which it is always transparent.

Today, I always get an error on sync which I think is related to a group that I have on the BlackBerry, but for now, I'm willing to allow that one mistake to stay because I don't want to delete, or rebuild this group at the moment. I'm in a month when I have more time.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Desktop v7 under Windows using Office Outlook 2013 8.1

Used with BB Desktop happiness until last week when she told me my organizer was not supported by BB Desktop and a DLL file is missing. I haven't had any changes to BB Desktop or Outlook.

So I uninstalled BB Desktop, cleaned the registry and re-installed BB Desktop, but it does not recognize 2013 Outlook on the PC, the configuration if the synchronization is not possible.

Office 2013 seems to have some automatic updates of good old Microsoft, which can be the cause of the problem; However RIM must be aware of this and issue a patch for BB Desktop ideally...

Any other suggestions or corrections can recommend?

My intuition about the problem being with Outlook turned out to be correct.

I ran the option repair Office 2013 via Control Panel / programs installed and right clicking on desktop 2013.

Then restarted BB Desktop v7 and the organizer of Outlook was can be selected in the configuration of the synchronization.

So BB Desktop v7 work with Outlook 2013 8.1 64-bit Windows, although sometimes there are problems...

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BB Desktop Sync does not

I have been using the tool for synchronization for a few weeks now and it has worked fine until recently. I've added another email address to my BB and Outlook. The two e-mails work very well on both devices. However, I get an error now when I try to sync. He told me that the BB Desktop software has stopped working. I press OK and it closes. I went through the process MAPI on the BB Desktop Software and try to sync feature for outlook and outlook to the device but it gives me the same error, it's frustrating! Any ideas?

    I have a BB curve 8830. Desktop Software V. 4.5.

What is it - it worked! You are a GENIUS! Thank you very much!

  • BlackBerry smartphone data transfer

My curve 'Crash' on me so they are sending me a new (as it is still under warranty). If I swap my SIM will automatically transfer all my info from contacts or who will be lost?

Hello and welcome to the community!

If you use your SIM card as your storage location of the exclusive contact item (you check in your camera settings), then your contacts will indeed be moving along with your SIM card. But, most do not because the list of contacts from SIM card is terribly restricted... a SIM contact element can have only one name to a phone number and no other details. The BB address book can have a name with multiple phone numbers, addresses, email, notes, etc. The BB address book is a lot more robust that the SIM contact list... so, if you use the address book of BB, then these elements definitely will not move with your SIM card to the new device.

But all is not lost... check-out of the switch device Wizard:

    • Article ID: KB23677 How to change device using BlackBerry Desktop Software

If you can keep your old device running long enough to get through the process, then that takes care of everything. You may need to try Mode safe on your old device to run more if the 'crash' coming in too fast.

  • BlackBerry smartphones transfer mail from blackberry to outlook - exchange problem

    Hello

We have a probelem yesterday with our Exchange, some may have been delete in Outlook, but there are still on the blackberry, I watch the desktop software but I don't see anything.

I wish I could move the email from the blackberry to Outlook

is there an easy way to do this?

A couple of VP are waiting for me

    Thanks for your help!

Hmmm... so, you have already successfully migrated messages to a non - BES BB. Ok. So that is totally disconnected as well Exchange Outlook? I wish I could test this for you... I thought there was a way to make the BB 1-way synchronization to Outlook. But, even once, I him didn't so that's all the theory right now... your work will prove it or not.

Hmmm... Maybe the synchronization isn't the best way. The file IPD that you used to migrate data from the real BB to this non - BES BB... this file is not natively readable by anything other than the desktop software from RIM (to be used for the restoration). But, I have heard (but never used) 3rd party applications that can analyze the file and extract information. Maybe you can get those? The only one I remember is ABC Amber Converter (or something like that)... but I don't know if it is available. You might find something (probably not free) who might get what you need from the IPD file however.

    Good luck!

  • Smartphones blackBerry with Outlook calendar sync problem

I just got my first BB - the Pearl 8120.  I installed the Desktop Manager v4.6 on the web of BB on an XP tablet pc.  I set it to sync with my outlook 2003.  Synchronization has functioned well for contacts, however, when he started the sync of the calendar, he began by saying it was reading from MS Outlook Calendar and read through the items until he reaches 2096/13344.  It stalled for about 30-45 seconds and then started again until it reaches 4613.  He won again, but starts again.  6089 record, a message will appear that says "Intellisync - done in unexpected ways.  I press 'ok' and it is up to the Office Manager.  If I push sync once again, he stands up and says 'Intellisync - unknown error reported.  I have to close the desktop manager and reboot to have sync again.  I tried to synchronize only the notes, and it worked fine.  I also sync had the tasks without any problems.  However, whenever I try to sync the calendar, it bombards.

I tried to see if there's a suspicious calendar entry in outlook, but I can't find which entry is attack on (just the number - references in the journal seem not to be in a specific order).

I disabled my anti-virus and have had the same chance.

I also went in the section advanced backup and restore to remove the database (site Web BB technical support recommendation), but there is no database that is listed for the computer databases.

I have been using Palm hotsync to synchronize with my palm.  Active sync is also installed on my system.

    Any ideas?

OK I think I found a solution.  AT & T directed me to a BB KB01451 document that shows you how to enable an improved ability of logging.  Of course, I had a few records in my Outlook database where the date codes have been corrupted for an unknown reason.  I followed the instructions to enable logging.  Then, perform a synchronization.  After you get the error message, look in the tif.log using Notepad and scroll to the bottom of the document.  In the first lines, you will see the subject line.  Go to Outlook calendar and go to the advanced search.  Type in the subject line, and have the appearance of looking for the title of the topic.  If you have more than one entry with the same name, you can probably find the specific record with a location or other mark of identification.  If this isn't the case, you must process all the records you have found.  I've done the folder - each damaged record had a defined reoccurance.  I went to the tab under Tools reoccurance.  I selected ok and acknowledged the warning that it would give me changes to certain events may be changed.  Then, I saved the appointment.  Then, I went to the directory of newspapers and renamed newspapers.  You can also simply delete them if you don't want to keep track of them.  Furthermore, you probably need to close the Desktop Manager and Outlook between errors - you may need to close outlook via the Task Manager, as he is suspended because of the error.  Just continue the process until you find all the records that have been corrupted - I got 6 in my reviews 13 k file.  I have no idea why this was happening - the recordings were of many years ago to a few weeks ago... not a good sign!  My Palm did not seem to be a problem with these records, so I don't know why they have a problem with the BB... but I am running after several hours of messing around with this - I hope that it will help someone else.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones constantly to the research or data transfer

I have a Curve 8520 and have not had a problem in 15 months. I recently downloaded the upgrade of OS 5. Ever since this download my phone has been continuously research or data transfer, the arrow at the top right continues to blink.  He normally wouldn't be a problem but it is draining my battery, it is durable currently only about 5 hours and I can't carry a round charger with me all day.

I changed my screen 'manage connectivity' to display the Red arrows next to wifi and blackberry, but this had no effect. The only time stops problem is when I connect to my wifi at home.

Have no solution? I love my blackberry but need a phone that lasts more than 5 hours before recharging.

Before the upgrade, it was fantastic.

    Thank you

I called my service provider more who have confirmed not only the mast near where I work has a flaw have, but those close to me has now, so this may explain why he's trying all the time. When I'm at home I have an internet connection, so there is no need to search.

I received once, to the minute, that the mast will be set so fingers crossed this will fix it. If this isn't the case, I can be back on here. Thank you for your help. :-)
