BlackBerry Smartphones Palm desktop vs BlackBerry Desktop

I am trying to understand desktop software for BlackBerry. As much as I can see has no user interface is simply a backup of the data entered on the BlackBerry? All data are entered on the handheld device not the desktop softwar.

Palm desktop UI has a fully visible calendar and other tools. You can enter the data on the desktop or the Pocket PC that allows to synchronize the phone and vica-a-versa.

My understanding of the BlackBerry desktop software is correct? -MikeT

Hello

The BB Desktop Software is designed to synchronize data between the PC and the BB. Its function is to backup and restore application, synchronization, loading, transfer of information between BB and a Palm tree, for example, and if you can

a Media Manager. You can enter the data calendar, addressbook, texts and memos on the PC and synchronize the two devices.

So there is a similarity. Give me a minute and I'll give you PC programs supported for desktop software.

Here is the link of the supported programs:

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you

Just got my new Blackberry Tour.  My Palm T / X is dead, but I still run the Palm Desktop for my calendar & contacts.  Tried to create a spreadsheet Excel and then running via Outlook by another suggestion posted, but for some reason any, I can't Outlook to open!  So is it possible to transfer data without using outlook and without having a Palm device to use?

If you have data in Excel, you can save the excel file in an ASCII text and file import/synchronization of the device through the Desktop Manager.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Desktop Software and Palm Desktop v6.2

I am a happy new Blackberry so far, but have grave on something which is very annoying.  I'm trying to move the data from my Palm TX, but Blackberry Desktop does not recognize the version of the Palm Desktop software that I use.

    What makes difficult:

    • It seems that I have a not supported version of Palm Desktop (at least from the point of view of Blackberry).
    • I don't have the option to go to a previous version of Palm Desktop.  Older versions do not run on Vista.
    • I don't have Outlook.

    Any thoughts?

Well, I finally got my Palm data transferred.  First of all, I was pleasantly surprised that Yahoo was in favour of the list of tasks, which was the only thing that I thought was missing.  I did a sync of my BB with Yahoo and saw that an entry of each type of test was transferred to Yahoo and vice versa.  So my problem is then a matter of getting the data from Palm to Yahoo.

Approach 1: Use the Yahoo with Palm Desktop synchronization tool.

Result: Did not work.  Synchronization of Yahoo support Palm Desktop 6.2.

Method 2: Save the Palm data in a file to archive and use the Yahoo import tool.

Result: Did not work.  The file format for Palm Desktop 6.2 was not supported by Yahoo.

Method 3: Dig a notebook laminated out of my Studio and install an older version of Palm Desktop.

Result: I got the Palm Desktop installed, then noticed that this laptop has Outlook on this.   I sync my Palm with Outlook, then installed the Yahoo Sync tool.  Synchronize and all my Palm data were sucked in Yahoo.  Returned to my Vista machine and ran the sync of BB and all the data from Yahoo are down.

    Finally!

    Thanks for your help.

  • Smartphones from blackBerry Desktop Manager is not of Palm Desktop

I am trying to export my contacts from Palm (Palm OS, Treo 650, Desktop Manager 4.2) for Blackberry Storm 9500.

The wizard says "Select PIM. Select the software from which you want to import the PIM data"and"Software Palm Treo or Palm Desktop"option is disabled (in gray, no black) so there is no option to select.

I tried the other ways, such as synchronisation with Outlook or to import a CSV file, but they do not work or they map so bad that cleaning takes a lot of time.

    Any help?

  • Help of Smartphones blackBerry to sync with Palm Desktop

    Hello:

I need help on how to synchronize or transfer all my files, calendar address etc... my Palm Desktop to my Blackberry 9000 "BOLD".

I saw the switch device Wizard in the Office Manager, but when I clicked in there the option click in Palm is not accessible.

    Thank you.

    Hi olive_cin:

I just did this last night, synchronize Palm with Outlook, then synchronize Outlook with Blackberry with all my categories intact in my BB.

You can also create new categories in your Outlook Express.

Thank you Bold_Sue and olive_cin for your advice and your entries.  My problem is now solved and I have no need to carry a separate Palm and a separate cell phone.

  • Smartphones blackBerry sync with Palm Desktop.

When I bought a "Bold" yesterday, AT & T, I asked the saleswoman if sync with Palm Desktop and if she would support Palm OS add-on.  I was told 'YES' at the same time to these two questions.  I tried to sync with Palm Desktop, without success.  Someone can explain to me how to synchronize with Plam Desktop and use Palm add, such as games and utilities?

    Thank you.

  • Smartphones from blackBerry Desktop Manager vs Palm Desktop

Hi, I used different palm pilots for many years and recently replaced the Palm with a BB tour. I had hoped it looked like office to Palm Desktop, where you can view & edit calendar & coordinated directly instead of having to use the BB for all data entry, but I do not see this feature in Desktop Manager. Am I missing something? What a pity, if this is not available, it's the BB a much less attractive option for me.  Thank you, "Reg".

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Unlike other how things, RIM does not provide a desktop PIM. Others force you to use their PIM and only their PIM. RIM provides a driving software that works as a bridge between your PIM and the BB. See this compatible PIM KB:

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Switch Device of Palm Desktop 4.1.4 for BB Desktop 4.6.0.13 crashes - no data

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the BB Desktop Software (downloaded a version of the AT & T website October). When I try to transfer my data from my Palm Desktop 4.1.4 software v in BB Desktop, it treats 6096 6395 calendar entries and crashes. No data is transferred to the BB. Any suggestions? I could live with do not transfer calendar data - that I have to back my contacts and can not do.

Help. I have 3000 + contacts I need to get more.
I tried the blue tooth beaming my contacts from my Palm Tungsten T5 to my BB "BOLD", but it fails (I think that the bluetooth of tungsten is not the Protocol for the "BOLD").
    Running Windows XP, SP2.

Managed to do work! I did events more than 1 month on my Palm device (I had to look at their database of support to get this operation works correctly) which reduced my total to 200. Clearly that removed the offender because all other events transferred via, and now it's the last of my data.

    Thanks for your help.

I helped my husband spend his Palm Treo 600, Palm desktop use, again BB Curve 8330. A seller has transferred name and Tel #s only.  I managed to spend most of his Palm in Outlook and Outlook with the BB synchronized.  Now, the only problem seems to be that the calendar is not synchronized on for BB. Suggestions?

I tried to synchronize the configurations of setting different ways: to synchronize calendar only, or all to ask Outlook to substitute the device and two-way.  Nothing to get the calendar the BB, even if all its addresses and tasks are there now. Help!

    TIA,

    Hello

Outlook 2003 and desktop manager v.6 will be perfect!

Yes, install the main e-mail on the Blackberry address to match Outlook.

On the Blackberry, you get a calendar for each e-mail address that you use.

Alone can be synchronized with the Outlook calendar.

You can e-mail Outlook, tools, options and verify that the default account.

Then on Blackberry from the home screen, options, advanced options

default services. Use main email options calendar CICAL and CMIME is enamel.

Placing them as value by default synchronize you then e-mail to e-mail address schedules.

    Make sense?

Let me know if you need anything else!

  • BlackBerry smartphone Palm Treo 650 storm

You try to transfer calendar/contacts from Palm Treo 650 using Palm Desktop 4.1.4 for my BB Storm. It blocks every time. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

I had a Treo 700wx.  I used Microsoft Outlook to synchronize my treo.  So I just hooked to the storm and said Desktop Manager to synchronize with Outlook.  All my contacts, calendar, tasks and memos were transferred easily.

  • USNG a Treo 650 can I switch bewteen outlook and Palm desktop and other issues

The treo with Outlook synchronization causes any changes to your handheld? I wonder if I'm having problems when I have to convert the Office Palm worm 4.x.x info on Xp desktop Blackberry 4.7 on my other computer?  I don't know if Palm ver 4.1.1 must be a conduit of outlook. I may have to upgrade to version 4.1.1E to accomplish this and I don't know if this version works on XP?

The key is that I have to convert Palm desktop (2 different versions in outlook 2002 and synchronize properly)

    Bravo! Thank you!

Palm Desktop 6.2 is compatible with XP... And you can synchronize the two programs at the same time without any problems. What you need to do is simply click on the sync led PIM to synchronize with outlook or Palm desktop.  Start > programs > Palm > sync led PIM >

  • Palm Desktop Software

I had a Handspring device and used the Palm Desktop 4.0.1 software on my laptop as an interface.  I have a laptop running Windows XP and I want to spend my Palm (AddressBook and calendar) data to another piece of software that is compatible with Windows 7 (I need a new laptop computer).  I tried to export the calendar data in a spreadsheet Excel spread but only see one record.  I watched go calendar data to Google Calendar, but Palm software format is not a choice of format on Google Calendar.

Does anyone have ideas of how to do to export calendar to CSV or other data?  And did anyone know another software calendar which can also interface with my smartphone (android)?

    Thank you

  • 64 bit Windows7/8/8.1/10 USB drivers for Palm Desktop

Thank you people much more to Aceeca.com (Palm OS Garnet NEW manufacturers), the USB drivers for Vista, Windows 7 and 8 Win 64 bit operating systems are available.  There are many users Palm Desktop 4.x strives also to the declaration.

I have synced my TX my Vista64 laptop computer bits and Windows 8.1 HP spectrum X 2 hybrid successfully through my USB cable.

    The drivers are located here:

    Aceeca Driver Downloads

(NOTE: as of today, 01/08/2016 Aceeca site to be down for 'construction'.)  Drivers can also be found here: http://www.palmdr.com/windows-7-64-bit-usb-drivers)

Installation instructions for Windows 7 (from Aceeca) are included in the download.

    Basic instructions:

1 download the drivers and extract them in the same folder.  Remember the folder that you extracted to.

    2. try to HotSync your device.  It will fail.

    3. open the Device Manager and look for the yellow Triangle next to the other "Acceca" or "'Palm device ' in the"Other devices"section."

    4. right click on the device and choose "Update driver software".

    5. choose "Browse my computer for software" and guide them to the folder that you extracted the drivers Aceeca.

    Good luck!

NOTE: Palm Desktop 6.22 may only multimedia show and install.  Here's how to fix this:

If Palm Desktop 6.2.2 shows only the media and installation, try this: right click on the shortcut for Palm Desktop, and then choose 'run as administrator '.  Other modules should appear.

To Palm Desktop run as administrator every time in Windows 8 / 8.1:

Close to Palm Desktop, if it is open.  (This is a very important thing to do when you use 6.2.2 - it has been known to lose data when a computer is shut down without closing the program!)

Right click on the desktop icon of Palm in the metro screen, then choose "open file location".  You will now see the actual file for the shortcut.

Right-click on the file "Palm Desktop" shortcut, then properties.  Now, choose the tab compatibility at the top.

At the bottom of the Compatibility tab is a checkbox: "run this program as an administrator", click OK.

Try to open the Palm Desktop, all parties must appear.  You can see a box opens when you close the program asking "did the program runs correctly.   I chose 'Yes', and it has been working fine since then!

If you are using a much older PalmOS device and try using Palm Desktop 4.x, you will need this additional patch Pimlico Software:

Forum member bobboffin has added this message:

"After you try your first HotSync and failing (as expected) you may be unable to find any trace of the device in Device Manager, making the next step very difficult. It is me, and after some research, I discovered the following trick that allows Device Manager to display hidden and devices not present.

Open Notepad and paste the following two lines are:

    Set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES = 1
    Start devmgmt.msc

Save it as SetDev.bat in My Documents.

Open My Documents in Windows Explorer and double-click SetDev.bat. Device Manager opens.

On the view menu, select Show hidden devices.

You can now see in the other position of the device with a yellow triangle against it.

You can now proceed to install the drivers according to the instructions.

Note that the driver supports most versions of Palm OS. "I actually use an Aceeca Meazura 1000 rugged PDA running OS 4.1 - bobboffin.
