BlackBerry Smartphones that I "brick" it?

Got a curve 8310 on AT & T.  He hooked up to Desktop for the first time and has got, it sync my Outlook calendar.  Everything was fine until the Bureau said that I had to upgrade the software of the device.  Partially achieved through the upgrade and the guillotine.  When I connect it now, a primitive part of the Desktop Manager reads the device and see the PIN but the main window says "disconnected".  Is there a way to force the hand in bootloader mode and restart the process of loading software?  I tried to remove the battery, but it happens just with the rotating hourglass.

Thank you

Al

Phew! It is fixed.

  • Help of blackBerry Smartphones that apps on my Blackberry Curve 9360 were gone after complete wiping!

I'm wiping yesterday and when I checked on my "device" option, the "battery" option was missing, where I can choose the level of my light screen. Another thing, it is that my 'analysis of the BB device' were like a stethoscope icon, but after you wipe, the icon changed into a black rectangle with a question in the middle of the matk. Whence this 'battery' device option missing? How do I get him back? If it cannot, how should I do if I want to put my light svcreen level? And I can delete this now rare device monitor 'BB' since I can't find the button Delete like other apps? HELPPPPPP! Thanks a lot for the answers!

    Hello!

Based on your description, I would recommend a full reload of the operating system. The easiest way is, on a PC (you can not do on MAC):

    (1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below.

    2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (4) download and install on your computer, the BB OS package you want:

    • If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.

    5) remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

6 (a) to change your level of BB OS installed (at level or lower), you can run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC.

6 (b) or, for recharging your BB OS level installed as well to change, work around the Desktop software and use the CHARGER. EXE directly, through step 2 in this process:

If, during the process of 6a or 6 b, your BB has an error '507', simply unplug the USB of the BB cord and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

Note that all the apps add-on indeed went from the device... a WIPE is very obedient and removes the add-on apps. Reference:

  • BlackBerry smartphones, that I need help to transfer data from a 9870 "BOLD" for a Blackberry Curve 9300 Blackberry

Hi, I have used a Bold 9870 for a few months now. I've been saving my camera on my computer periodically. Unfortunately, it has been exposed to water the weekend and unresponsive. I transferred my acct (by Sasktel) to the Blackberry curve of my son he no longer uses. (I'm drying my "BOLD" in a bag of rice and I hope that it will work again in the coming days?!).

My question is did anyone know how I can get all my information backups "BOLD" (contacts, emails, texts, bbm surveys) and get only their transferred on the curve that I currently use. I feel completely lost without it!

I have a Bold 9900. I deleted my boxes to the letters but its always appearing in the Messages folder. Its so annoying can someone please help :-(

Still confused, because I do not see you. By "record", I assume you mean the separate E-mail icon that was created when you went ahead and created the email account this time again? When it works correctly, you have really no duplicates - instead, you have the same email showing in two different places... one 'mirror' of the other, in a sense.

But in fact should not do, however, so I'll notify then what do you is of (please, this time, to do this and nothing more!):

    1. Remove all THE email accounts of this device
    2. Perform a battery pull reboot
    3. Drive again the steps of the post 4 above (this time, however, please tell me that "done you these steps"... Please confirm each step translates exactly as I indicated above)
    4. Delete your database of Messages (note that this will delete probably all messages, including SMS history... you have to be careful because you realize this)

When I tried to look at something else he asked a PW now and will not take the one I just put in? I know I have 5 left out of 10 attempts. No idea what I should do now. I have an Email in the former owner, but it is a bit slow to return. I have a storm 1 during some time now and I think I've read that I brick this phone after 10 attempts.  Anyone? Is there a default PW that this phone comes with? My storm 1 has not. Thanks for any help

    Hello!

As a community of volunteers supported users, there is no commitment for when / if any position will respond to the. We try, but we too are human beings human and also have a life to live. In addition, many of us who spend a lot of time here are in the USA... and the last weekend (Thursday, by starting earlier for some) was a period of holidays in the USA, many volunteers making busy with their life and unable to post here. Therefore, the delay in responding to your message is, while not unexpected, that unhappy. Of course, this solution was posted maybe of thousands of times already... some research site should certainly have revealed to you earlier, rather than waiting for a response, perhaps?

Anyway... regarding your query - at the top of each device forum, there should be some 'sticky' threads dealing with the level of the OS available for many models. If they understand your model, please use those as a reference as you go along. Otherwise, you will have to dig through the download portal official for packages of OS for your model:

You can ignore the Desktop software for it and from a PC, you can install any compatible OS package (for example, for your BB model exact number) of a BB via this procedure:

Note Although written to "recharge" and the storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade or recharge any BB device model - depends on the operating system package you download and install on your PC. If this OS package comes from one carrier other carrier for which your BB was built, then remove, on your PC, all copies of the SELLER.

Don't forget that you remove, since your PC, any other BB OS devices as packages with more than one installed on the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.

You can also try this procedure might limit the specific causal element:

    1. Load your OS "bare bones"... If everything is optional, do not install it.
    2. If the behavior is immediately, then try another OS with step 1
    3. If the behavior does not immediately, then run for as long as necessary to make you to be sure that the behavior will not occur.
    4. Add one more thing - no matter how tempting, one.
    5. If the behavior does not immediately present, and then runs for long enough to be sure he won't have the same problem
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are responsible or the behavior presents

When the behavior shows up, you know the culprit... the last thing you have loaded.

If the behavior doesn't re-present, then you know that step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior has anything, then you have probably a problem of material level for which no amount of OS or software can heal.

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

I continue to receive notices of upgrade to v. 6.0 to 14 MB in size.  I called BB - they say that it is my supplier; I called my provider - they say that it is BB.  What should I do this?  It costs me in data?

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

RIM is pushing no OS updates directly to end users. Each carrier is responsible for all support to their end-users... as such, they retain the right to adopt or not to adopt all levels of the operating system. Therefore, anyone who at Bell tells you that it is not them is, well, wrong. You will not receive notification if they were not pushing it.

With regard to the data... all data charges against all that is your plan. So, Yes, it would cost to do the OTA update.

But, honestly, I would strongly recommend AGAINST OTA updates. You see, with an OTA update, one on the device backup of all your data is taken and used to restore once the update is complete. But if something should go wrong with the update, this backup file is lost forever. If use you a computer to do the update, you can (and should) first take a manual backup and safely store this file away something go wrong.

From a PC, you can install any compatible OS package (for example, for your BB model exact number) of a BB via this procedure:

Note Although written to "recharge" and the storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade or recharge any BB device model - depends on the operating system package you download and install on your PC. You can even use a different OS package carriers simply insert, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, a file named PROVIDER. XML. remember that you remove from your PC, no matter what other packages devices OS BB as having more than one installed on the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

  • Update blackBerry Smartphones BB SW BRICKED my daughter is curved!

    Hello

I'm new to these forums and the BlackBerry, having had my 8310 for a few months only (by my company). However, my daughter had her Curve 8310 since last March, and she has had intermittent problems with it. It was replaced under warranty by AT & T twice.

This last time, she discovered that the sounds had ceased - his alarm did nothing when it exploded. The sounds later mysteriously returned, but she decided that it was the last straw. She wanted to bring her back to the AT & T warranty Center to replace again, but I suggested that she first attempts to put his system. My theory was, since the new software has been released, it would be wise to upgrade. My phone company has been upgraded (OTA) without any problem, so I thought (silly me) it would be just as easy to make the curve of my daughter.

The first thing I did was to go to his screen Options Options / Advanced to make a wireless upgrade. However, this option was not available on this screen. Weird, I thought - his phone and mine are the same, and mine had the option of upgrade wireless. So I'm on these forums and sought assistance and find the sticky at the top of the forum on the upgrade of the 4.5 software. I followed the link to the BlackBerry page which contained the AT & T software download (ensuring that I chose the multilingual version of AT & T in 4.5.0.182). I downloaded this version, but before he wanted to use BlackBerry Desktop Manager instead. It has dutifully reported that his curve needed a software upgrade to 4.5.0.182, so I decided to try the upgrade via the USB connection. When he got to the point where he had saved his phone and was willing to make the backup of the system before wiping, the connection broke. Don't know why - I used the USB cable provided by BB. Thus, the upgrade didn't happen like that.

The next thing I did was to launch the download of AT & T that I had recovered from the BB link. He dutifully installed the last BB Desktop Manager (5.0.1, I think), then when I hung his curve up to the computer it once more pointed out that she needed a software upgrade. I chose to do the upgrade, and it went through the process again, save the curve on my computer and is about to wipe. This time, he was once again broken the connection, but when I selected 'Retry' he seemed to proceed as usual, erasing the device to upgrade.

The fun starts now. When the real upgrade began, that the unit broke out to establish the connection. Again, I got the dialog with the boxes 'Retry' and 'Cancel' box and click 'Retry '. But when I did the screen on the curve went blank and revealed an icon that I can only assume means, "No operating system only," as well as the small number of '507' below. The BB Desktop Manager seemed to be to attempt to upgrade the software, but after leaving it setting like that all night there is no change in the status. So it's well and truly bricked.

Now, my question is, what is my recourse? Is there a possible way to recover this device (because the computer does not recognize it via USB connection)? Should I just take it back to AT & T and have them replaced (again)? And the backup I did last night will be restorable at the new BB (assuming they give her another curve)?

I hope to have answers quickly enough, because I'll be able to hear the rash of here when she discovers that his curve is a paperweight. Thanks in advance for your help and your availability for BlackBerry users.

Don't worry, it's not a paperweight. MOST likely, the previous upgrade process constituted a return of the device before the upgrade failed. It's probably, there are some third party faulty or theme application that "perhaps" do the upgrade fails.

Well, error 507 means simply that no operating system is found.

First of all, you have the full OS file downloaded on your PC?

    Do that first.

Second, make sure that your USB cable is connected to the main REAR usb port. No USB hub port or before.

At the present time, unplug the USB from the BlackBerry, power down to turn off and restart your PC.

Meanwhile, do a reset on the BlackBerry > with the BlackBerry device powered on, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to restart.

Once the two are back running, confirm that Desktop Manager is NOT loaded or running on your PC.

    Follow these instructions below:

    1. download the OS files to the PC then install on the PC by running (double click) the downloaded file.
    2. go in c:\program files Research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. plug in the BB and double-click on "Loader.exe." It is located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

IF you succeed step by step: you will not need to use JL_Cmder to wipe the device and then load the operating system on the device. Follow the instructions here:
