Blades with mixture of ViC/NAC

Hi all

Is there a problem if a UCS 5108 chassis B200 blades with a mix of card NAC & ViC? say a few blades have M73KR & others ViC1240.

would this work?

Thank you

Kass

Yes it is supported, you can check this by using the following compatibility matrix http://www.cisco.com/web/techdoc/ucs/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html let me know if that answers your question

Don't put the vCenter on one chassis 5108 blades and can control the ESXi hosts on the other blades? If this is the case, on the design, it's possible? Install the vCenter on a single blade with ESXi or ESXi?

I ask this question because I have experience only having the vCenter as a separate machine whicn connects only to the network to control the ESXi hosts on 5108 chassis

    Thank you!

as mentioned above, it is possible

also the best design of practice in a certain measure, it is preferable to have VCenter in a virtual machine to take the advantage of using Vmotion HA for example features to reduce the risk of losing your vCenter because of HW faular for example

You may have a blade for VCenter use in hunting and other blad for Vcenter backup for example hunting another!

    Hello

First time to work on this model blade. Doesn't seem like there's mezz for this card. When I go to create a service profile he says no available vNIC. Any information would be helpful.

    Thank you

I have no experience with the cartridges; However, it looks like a regular service profile and interfaces.

  • In anticipation of the posture with 1.3, Agent NAC 4.9.5.10 ISE and Windows 10

    Hello

I have a client with the patch 1.3 ISE 5 installed in its network, and it tests the connection to the network from a client Windows 10. In the client, this customer has manually installed Agent NAC 4.9.5.10, and used Anyconnect 4.2.01035 (with NAM module) as supplicant 802.1 x.

In the ISE, the 3.6.10205 - 2 4.9.5.10 NAC Agent and compliance Module is downloaded and there is that a strategy of commissioning of the customer created in order to provide customers with this version of the NAC Agent and compliance Module if this client authenticates correctly in Active Directory. There is also a political Posture that requires that the customer have a fixed version of McAffee Antivirus from the Posture.

When connecting to the wifi network, the client authenticates properly using the user name and, after authentication, it launches the Cisco's NAC Agent in order to pass the posture. At this point, the Agent NAC pop-up displays an error indicating that the operating system of the client is not supported, although NACAgent 4.9.5.10 supports Windows 10 and patch5 ISE 1.3 also supports Windows 10. Due status Posture maintains in State waiting, the customer is not allowed to connect with the correct permissions for the network by the ISE authorization policy.

    My questions are:

You know the reason for this error showed by NAC Agent (client operating system not supported)?

Do you know what are the correct versions of the NAC and ISE Agent to support customers on Windows 10 connections?

And also, Windows 10 is supported by ISE 1.3 patch5 or maybe it's better to move to ISE 2.0?

    Thanks in advance

    Concerning

    Juan

I'll guess that maybe the VA of Cisco and databases supported OS version are not current.  Try to go to the Administration->-> Posture--> updates the settings and click on "Update Now".

  • SERVER BLADE with 96 GB of RAM

I have a server balde with 2 processors and 96 GB of physical RAM installed.

Having the license for "VMware vSphere 5 Standard for 1 processor (with 32 GB vRAM) right by processor"

According to my understanding vSphere 5, there is no limitation on phyiscal RAM and processor.

limitation to a virtual machine is the maximum that we can assign 32GB vRAM.

Please confirm if this is correct.

Read the white paper of the licenses at http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere_pricing.pdf

According to my understanding vSphere 5, there is no limitation on phyiscal RAM & CPU.

The license is per-SOCKET on the blade, but not on CARROTS by socket which is now unlimited.  Since you have 2 jacks, you will need a minimum of 2 licenses.  With your evidence of 32 GB per socket, you can be powered with a total of 64 GB memory configured, regardless of the amount of memory they use in fact virtual machines.

You can either purchase a 3rd license then you can connect virtual machines with a total of 96 GB of memory configured, or you can update your licenses to the company that will give you a total allocation of 128 GB.  Note that this is the CONFIGURED memory, not the USED memory, so it is very likely that you will need licenses that go beyond the 96 GB.

Also note that the memory is pooled - if you have several other servers also running vSphere 5 Standard, then he the the sum of all virtual machines running on all hosts in the operating mode that count.

  • Can not turn on CVS on blades with Intel E7320 and E5440 processor

Does anyone know hot to activate CVS on the esx host, one with 2xQuad Core Intel E7320 CPU, the other with 2xQuadCore Intel E5440 CPU?

When I try to add hosts in active cluster with CVS, I get the message that CPU hardware must support CVO.

In the BIOS, the only option I have found is Intel VT, and activate.

The hosts are G5 blades HP.

    Thank you...

Here are the bios settings that I use on blades BL680c G5 and BL460c G1 running ESX 3.5 and CVS works very well

    Integrated Serial Port disabled

    Virtual Serial Port disabled

    Integrated NIC: Boot Options disabled

For Proliant power regulator Mode static High Performance HP

    Processor options: HW Prefetcher disabled

Processor options: sector Adjacent Prefetch disabled

Processor options: No.-Execute memory Protection enabled

Options of processor: Intel Virtualization Technology active

Processor power and the use of monitoring disabled

No.-Execute memory Protection that is required for the VCA, other parameters are just performance tuning.

Remember that you can not activate EVC cluster that already has ESX hosts on him. Create new cluster, select CVS and drag your ESX hosts old cluster to the new cluster, this is how you can activate CVS already production use ESX host.

It was still linked to memory and your MSE is the active thread.  I see no sign that check was running or it may simply have been the fact that not all the drivers were selected for audit.

I'll make sure auditor performs all the drivers.  That will slow down you a bit, but you give a better chance to catch the errant driver

You could remove MSE and replace it with another application of malicious software at least to test.

  • Blades with a link for each slide

I would like to create a slideshow of base with images that would link. An example is present, but my slide show does not have to be animated as in this example.

Use the blank publication after the widget, you can add images to the target of the widget containers by placing images directly through file-> Place (Ctrl + D) option.  You can then add a different image on each placed image (to find OUT MORE effect or just use plain text and style it accordingly) using the same Ctrl + D option and link them individually. See the demonstration video which should give you more idea on how to do this - http://screencasteu.worldsecuresystems.com/vinayak/2013-02-21_0335.swf

  • How many vNIC on B200 M3 with VIC 1240 + extender?

    Hello

Asking to confirm my resoning/interpretation of B200 M3 with VIC 1240 + extensible architecture.

I'll apply vSphere 5.1 works UCS B200 M3 equipped with blades with VIC 1240 + expanders mezzanine.

If I understand the documentation, all the physical links through the fabric between the host and the IOM are automatically approved by UCS, so if I don't create only one UCS vNIC by fabric, ESXi must 'see' vmnic with 40 Gbps capacity (with limitation of 10 Gbps for the single 'flow').

Say this another way - there is no need to create 8 vNIC to use all 8 physical links?

    Nice day!

With the VIC 1240 and Extender port and 2208 hypervisor ESX will be able to see an aggregation of links total of 40G network card.

  • WRITEit is compatible with BlackBerry mixture on a 10 Windows PC?

I'm considering buying a digitizer stylus input device but I need to know if Lenovo WRITEit works flawlessly with mixture of BlackBerry on a 10 Windows PC?

    See you soon,.

I checked with the team leader WRITEit and discovered that they were not specifically tested with Blackberry mixture.  Here are a few notes:

1 WRITEit should work with * any * application that exposes its text boxes correctly the engine to accessibility of Windows.  So, as long as the application is accessible, it should work.  Currently, there are very few applications that does not work.

    2. Enter WRITEit (as well as the pen), so if you want to know if it works with a specific application, you can try to use your finger before you buy a touch pen is supported.

I hope this helps!  If you do try, let us know how it works for you.

  • Reference DELL Blade - Ethernet Passthrough with ESX 4

I have an environment DELL M1000e blade with M610 and M710 servers.  Running all ESX 4.

    Fabric A1: M6220 (the user's LAN Segment)

    Fabric A2: no

Fabric B1: Ethernet Passthrough (iSCSI to DELL Equallogic PS5000e SAN)

Fabric B2: Ethernet Passthrough (iSCSI to DELL Equallogic PS5000e SAN)

All blade on ESX servers see the A1 and A2 as vmnic0 & vmnic1.  If I understand correctly, the M6220.  The problem is that none of the blades see Passthroughs Ethernet which are connected to a Cisco 2970 switch.  Shouldn't B1 & B2 appear on vmnic2 & vmnic3?  It does not show on the side of ESX.

Any agency with experience with this would be useful.

    Thanks in advance.

    (1) chassis management controller can tell you what is installed.

    (2) Yes, you do.  If you want to connect to what in fabric B, each server needs to connect to fabric B need a Mezz card on fabric B.

  • The upgrade to vSphere in an environment of BladeCenter with 15 GB hd by blade

    Hi all

I have a test environment with a BladeCenter S chassis with 2 hs21 xm blades with esx 3.5 update 4 configured as a cluster 2 nodes. I would like to use this as a test environment for all update scenarios 3: update manager, update of host and new installation utility.

My blades have 15 GB of local disk on a solid space state double drive, now I know the minimum suggested for COS is 8 GB, 10 GB every, but my current layout of disc (the default installation of esx 3.5) will not put the COS. VMDK in local storage, which is something I don't like for future production upgrades of the scenarios. This is my current layout:

    Disk/dev/sda: 14.9 GB, 14999879680 bytes

    Heads of 64, 32 sectors/track, 14305 cylinders

    Units = cylinders of 2048 * 512 = 1048576 bytes

Device boot start end blocks Id system

    / dev/sda1 * 1 100 102384 83 Linux

    / dev/sda2 101 5100 5120000 83 Linux

    FB/dev/sda3 5101 11680 6737920 unknown

    f/dev/sda4 2688000 14305 11681 Win95 Ext'd (LBA)

    / dev/sda5 11681 12224 557040 82 Linux swap

    / dev/sda6 12225 14206 2029552 83 Linux

    14207 14305 CF 101360 unknown sda7

As you can see that my current local data store is about 6 GB, which is not enough. I was wondering if there is something I could do to make room for the COS. VMDK

Another curiosity I have is what happens if I do a new install of vSphere? He will be able to use this space to put the COS. VMDK locally? I guess it will be since I tested vSphere on a Virtual Machine with 10 GB drive and it worked.

I hope someone can give me a hint on how to set the COS locally without a new installation. Thanks in advance for your support.

Device boot start end blocks Id system

    / dev/sda1 * 1 100 102384 83 Linux

This is the boot partition, do not touch it

    / dev/sda2 101 5100 5120000 83 LinuxRoot or/var

    FB/dev/sda3 5101 11680 6737920 unknown

It's the VMFS partition. Can be deleted as long as it's empty (do not want to lose your virtual machines)

    f/dev/sda4 2688000 14305 11681 Win95 Ext'd (LBA)

Beginning of the extended partition. Cannot be changed unless you move all of the contained partitions also.

    / dev/sda5 11681 12224 557040 82 Linux swap

Swap partition, referenced in/etc/fstab with label, UUID, or/dev/sda5. Can be spoiled safely with as long as you update fstab to point to the correct swap ultimately partition

    / dev/sda6 12225 14206 2029552 83 Linux

    root or/var partition

    14207 14305 CF 101360 unknown sda7

    vmkcore partition, not critical

My suggestion would be to try to remove the vmfs partidion and expand your second linux partition to be large enough to hold the contents of what is in/dev/sda6. Then copy, for example, using rsync and put to day/etc/fstab to mount/dev/sda6.

Then, you should be able to remove the whole extended partition and reuse free space to build a new vmfs, swap and vmkcore.

Keep in mind that these are destructive operations - you can start making an image DD of the entire disk to another location, like a drive USB or NFS share on the network. In this way you can restore all of the disk using dd if = of = / dev/sda if you need to.

  • UCS (PALO) VIC - associate a host

    Hello

I have a server blade with the adapter of PALO (VIC) and I test the VN-link depending on the hardware...

I configured everything according to the Guide of Configuration Cisco UCS - Configuration VN-link section

I see the 2 vNIC on the ESX host, I created and then if I ssh in there and do an ifconfig I can see dynamic NIC (vf_vmnicX) - 20

If the dynamic NETWORK cards are here.

VMware, I see the dVS created in the UCS Manager and profiles of port (port groups)...

My problem is when I try to associate the host to the DVS... If gives me an error and does not associate...

Can someone help me here please?

    Thank you

    Nuno Ferreira

Right, but you must always install the Nexus 1000v VEM, this is essential for communication of control between the ESX host and the 6100 s. The easiest way is to configure the source of VUM patch for the 1000v, then when you are adding a host to the successful UCSM dvSwitch VUM is called and the MEC is automatically installed.

    Original title: Netbook Licensing

Can someone give me an answer to confirm if netbooks with Windows XP Home, Vista Home Edition, Windows 7 starter (these BONES other than professional or company) be used in a business, connected to the server environment to share files?

I read somewhere that these permits cannot connect to a domain, is this true?

Of coz these OS has not input parameters are even to join a domain, how can they connect?

CAN, that my understanding of that statement means that it cannot be connected to a domain server, means that the netbook cannot be connected to the server to access files shared server?

Can the netbook share files with other computers (vice versa), other than a domain server, on a network of companies?

So what my final question is a netbook can exist in an enterprise environment? What's a standalone machine?

I'm not able to get an answer very Microsoft Singapore confirm after the call to them.
